Just seen Tony awardee Lea Salonga, the only one who honor God for the blessings she received. You are a gem, Philippines is so proud of you. I am happy you prosper until now. You are blessed as you acknowledged The Almighty God who gives you that extra ordinary talent. R. Salas
Everytime i watch award ceremony ,what i always hear from the awardees speech is to thank a lot of people and God at the last.and that was a very big question mark for me because why God is at the end - if ever they mentioned it.why not to thank God first and the rest to follow?yes when i heard Leah thanking God first,i said wow at last i heard an awardee who acknowledged God first .❤❤❤God bless leah
Because almost everyone is at home quarantine. I’m here watching Tony award hehe and because I’m fan of Lea Salonga ..I was like woaaah she’s 20yrs eld here and the way she spoke and stood in front of the biggest performers/actor & actresses was quite amazing and such a great achievement! Congratulations! You’re a legend Ms Lea ❤️
LeaSalonga isn't the only Pinoy Tony winner. Clint Ramos won a Tony in 2016 for best costume design. Jhett Tolentino has won 3 Tony awards for producing hit musicals & plays. And Robert (Bobby) Lopez has won many Tony Awards for writing the music for hit musicals (he's also won Oscars, Grammy Awards & Emmy awards)... Plus, he & his wife wrote the music for "Frozen" ("Let it Go" is his song).
She's the 1st & the only Filipina who won the "Tony Awards" in London, yr 1990, hosted by Julie Andrews of the blockbuster movie "Sound of Music", for her musical broadway theater in the performing arts. What an extra ordinary talent to bring this great universal pride & honor to her native homeland, the Philippines!!! That's only the tip of an iceberg. Then followed by an overwhelming portfolio of global recognition & success of another broadway musical like Les Miserables, Alladin, Beauty & the Beast, Cinderella & countless disney songs she collaborated with foreign music theaters & film makers. Her flow of achievements was non stop & her God given gift continues to inspire more creativity in the field of performing arts. When given the choice between politics & whatever you prefer to do besides what you have now, you said you want to be an " ambassador of goodwill." With no elaboration, that is an honest, obvious expression of your love for humanity. You speak eloquently & your "resume" shows how damn preoccupied you are in your chosen career, never a dull moment! Being an artist, your personality is well rounded & when you talk, it's so intelligent, straight forward, flawless,& with sense . You can face & talk to anyone straight to their eyes without fear because you only mean the truth. You are highly inspirational & a" role model to the younger generation & their future. USE YOUR VOICE AS A POWERFUL WEAPON TO PROMOTE DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM OF THE PRESS & SPEECH TO MAKE THE PHILIPPINES A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN. YOU CAN DO IT WITH FLYING COLORS BECAUSE THE WHOLE WORLD LOVES YOU OUR PRECIOUS LEA!!!

@@M-ye2jn Because Lea thanking Actors' Equity here is a bit ironic considering AE was blocking Lea from getting cast for Miss Saigon, ostensibly saying Lea isn't anything special at all that the production had to cast someone that wasn't Asian-American. AE also blocked Jonathan Pryce and Cameron Mackintosh got tired of their bullshit that he threatened to cancel the New York show entirely and that's when AE backed off. The fact that Lea won a Tony for that performance was a slap to AE's face showing them how wrong they were.
Lea is really gifted ..winning this award is not easy because the nominees were all veteran in musical theater but Lea deserved the award because her voice is really amazing ..
Miss Saigon got the major awards, first category award for best featured actor, then the category award for best leading actor and best leading actress in a musical play. Come to think of it, Miss Saigon also deserves all the other categories, like best musical, how could Tony Awards missed Cameron. Miss Saigon is the only contender among the other nominees, that incorporated a chopper in the play, and again in the award show, bringing in a Cadillac for their production number... the only play with perfectly chosen casts. Lea, your name is written there.
To those who wants to jump directly to Lea's nomination, it is at 1:35:00. The Miss Saigon presentation is at 1:20:20. You are all welcome 😉

The Multi-Racial Cast of Miss Saigon... I Thank them.!
I came on this by chance but I'm glad I watched it. I needed a boost about living in New York, and this gave it to me.

John Cameron Mitchell, Mandy Patinkin, Robert Westenberg, Michael Crawford and Lea Salonga.😍
She is so pretty. Her smile is unique
It was 1991 summer and my first trip to New York... and I saw this cast. Amazing.
The crowd laughing when Lea thanked AE is priceless.
don't get it why were they laughing?
@@M-ye2jn Because Lea thanking Actors' Equity here is a bit ironic considering AE was blocking Lea from getting cast for Miss Saigon, ostensibly saying Lea isn't anything special at all that the production had to cast someone that wasn't Asian-American. AE also blocked Jonathan Pryce and Cameron Mackintosh got tired of their bullshit that he threatened to cancel the New York show entirely and that's when AE backed off.
The fact that Lea won a Tony for that performance was a slap to AE's face showing them how wrong they were.
Everyone's comments talking about only Lea Salonga, and I'm over here gushing over Julie Andrews as well.
Omg beeee me too! I was tooooo! Coz i just watched yesterday 'the sound of music'! Yiiee
And Audrey Hepburn !
To me Julie Andrews is out of this world. What a gorgeous lady. She has such a glorious voice. Julie is a treasure.
Jeremy Irons! Scar's voice! absolutely awesome!
Anybody watching 2019 for Lea ❓🤔✌️😁✌️
ive heard of this when i was a little girl now i watch her speech. i love you miss lea..
So young...good speaker...beautiful.
Lea, your name is written there.
came here to see Lea
me! i'll never get tired repeating watching her performances!
