The Man Who Became an Unstoppable Weapon While Stoned

- In the early hours of April 1, 1969, Fire Support Base Illingworth, nestled in the heart of the Vietnamese jungle, lay in ruins.
For nearly ten minutes, the once vibrant battlefield, shaken by a surprise attack, fell into an eerie silence following a devastating explosion. Now, hundreds of soldiers from both sides lay strewn across the ground, some slowly stirring awake, some not, every man bearing the marks of battle.
Amidst this quiet, 19-year-old Specialist Four Peter Lemon regained consciousness.
Exhausted, scared, and marked by numerous shrapnel wounds across his head, neck, and limbs, Lemon's reality was sharpened by the chaos. He had shared a joint with friends who were no more, an act that now intertwined his senses with a surreal clarity amid the devastation.
Riddled with wounds and enveloped in a haze, Lemon was fuelled by a surge of adrenaline and THC. Poised to challenge the odds once more, he reached for a bag of grenades and headed right towards the enemy.

I graduated high school in 1970 my draft number was very high, but I know quite a few people who went and didn't come back. Thank you to all the Vietnam vets and all veterans from all wars. Thank you
'75 for me....nixon ended war I enlisted cold war.
Amen! 🇺🇲
First I want to say I’m a coward compared to anyone who served because I never offered to go and hoped never to get drafted. Unless you offered to go you don’t compare to any of these men. I say men because regardless of age the were men amongst boys. God bless you all living snd dead. 🙏🏻 rest in peace brothers
Thank you I'm not alone
If it wasn't for the gorilla pills and weed never made it
My pastor is a Vietnam veteran and every time he tells of the war in the pulpit, I can see it in his eyes. Much respect to those who served in that awful war, and to those who’ve served in other wars as well, active duty, reserves, everybody. You all are what keeps America secure so we can sleep safe at night and you all also don’t get as much respect as you deserve. God bless you everyone, and God bless the United States of America 🇺🇸
I don't blame your pastor but I do blame your country STAY AT HOME and stop interfering with everyone else's business (am a Brit twice decorated soldier my country is the same) you have it all Britain had it all you'll lose it all if you don't focus inward (happened to the British empire)
You should make a video about the longest serving Ranger in Vietnam. CSM Patrick Tadina served in Vietnam with the 173rd AB, LRRP, 74th Infantry Detachment Long Range Patrol, and Company N (Ranger), 75th Infantry. For over 5 years, between 1965 and 1970, he led long-range reconnaissance patrols deep into enemy territory - often dressed in black pajamas and sandals, and carrying an AK-47. His small stature and dark complexion helped him pass for a Viet Cong soldier on patrols in the Central Highlands. Even though he was a leader, Tadina always took point position in his team. Because of his appearance, he would brazenly walk up to within a few feet of the enemy, open fire, then hastily retreat, leading the surviving enemy pursuers directly into an ambush, previously set up by his team. A native of Hawaii, Tadina also served in the Dominican Republic, Grenada, and Iraq. During his 30-year US Army career, Tadina was cited for valor (2 Silver Stars), 10 Bronze Stars (7 with V Device), 4 Army Commendation Medals (2 with V Device) and three Purple Hearts. I believe his family is on Facebook, you could contact them in order to put together information for a video. Patrick deserves to be honored and a video by you would be a great way to honor him and his memory.
I'm going to check Him out Thanks
I agree - He's a great hero to make a video about.
That video came out a couple weeks ago. Did you see it yet?
@@mrclam445 which video?
@@mrclam445 Thank you for telling me about this I just watched it. You know I saw the video pop up a few weeks ago but never clicked on it, I had planning on watching it later. The reason being is they used someone else's picture in the thumbnail-had no idea it was the video I suggested they make. The picture in The thumbnail is not Patrick It's some random dude. Also they did not mention his name or LRPs in the video title. All of this needs to be fixed. Thanks for letting me know.
Being stoned has nothing todo with it. He's a real hero and a true American badass
Idk, the word 'assassin' come from old middle eastern days when what we now call assassins would smoke hashish to calm their nerves before killing duty, thusly being call assassins. There's a history behind it...
@@mgaalaas Very True, and the modern -equivalent would be gang members hittin' blunts on their way to do a ''drive-by''.
It's like running shoes man. If someone does something admirable people are going to ask what did they do/ use to prepare themselves
Id argue it has a lot to do with it, putting your mind in a state like that while staying calm talks a lot and sometimes a lil natural help isn't a bad
Exactly.
Thank you for your service and defending this great nation, sir you are not forgotten
I'll give it to him. Not a cheap shot but better him than I. And the enemy paid for it. War is hell! If you're better at it stoned I don't have a problem with it. God bless your heart and all of our war veterans. Future, past, and present. God bless America! 💯❤️🇺🇸
I set my standards very high. Actually, I do most everything very high, LOL. I smoked a lot of weed with Vietnam Vets. I would have been one myself, except they abandoned Saigon while I was in boot camp. 2 weeks before I graduated. Thank you for this video. They lie about cannabis.
@@AuthenticChronicVision I wish the military was pro weed but id never join that shit having to be sober all the time lol
@@StrUpSavage Pancho villa gave cannabis to his troops.

Reagan was the one who nixed and drug use in the armed forces.
It was his war on drugs, a lot of good men were discharged under other than honorable conditions!!!%
Someone should name a strain after this hero
Lemon Haze is already taken.
There's probably 20 strains with his exact name and rank out if pure coincidence. I swear there's too many strain names
I'm down with that Bro
@@dominicdeluca6378there isn't too many. There has never been a copy name. Unless it's "Lemon Haze, Lemon Haze #2, Lemon Haze #3."
Lemon Pledge.....🤩
Excellent video Dark Docs. Thank you for posting. Happy Memorial day everyone.
I heard rumors of this Medal of Honor winner while in West Berlin with the American Army sometime between 1981 and 1984. Your version beats the rumor mill version--SP4 Lemon was high, but when his friends started getting killed, he got mad-dog angry and became a one-man army.
He out Ramboed Rambo. This was a real fighting man.
More stoned than before! I love it!
Sometimes, it is hard for us to carry the medals that we have earned while in service. However, realizing what we’ve done, we come to understand that those metals are for our comrades and for our country… And wear them proudly!
Thank you.
I was born in 1965 when this war started but my heart goes out to all these young men to be sent to a country that was just jungle, then those who went came home & was treated so awfully by his own country men. May those that did died R.I.P....😢
The war may have officially started then, I believe they called it a Police Action. But there were certainly Americans on the ground in the late 50's. American advisors were brought in as the French were bailing out!!!%
Weed before the fight and Jack Daniels after. What a time.
Not exactly the order one would expect but who am I to question the results?

I don’t think you know how marijuana works.. you can scare yourself sober with regular day stuff.. being in combat for your life will definitely do it.. there’s no way that after all that fighting and all those wounds he was “more stoned than ever”.. he was probably sober as shh by then.. probably pissed he wasn’t high
Yeah absolutely a good point 😂😂😂 happens to me all the time. I don’t know if it happens to everyone but when I hear bad news or something bad happens or I get mad I start getting sober real quick!
Bro I couldn’t take anything apart from 1 beer in the battlefield. I can’t imagine the paranoia of being high or inebriated in an active battlefield
This guy sounds ALOT like an SF buddy of mine. We tried to keep him high when we needed an advantage.

thai stick sativa has more thcV, which causes euphoria and uplifting, plus and lowers hunger (much like coffee). thc is really dull by itself and cbn is the sleep inducing one.
There's a reason we call it Weedderall lol
Ive grown laoatian cannabis. Low yeild, un sellable buds, long single foxtails...but unbelievably tasty and real psychedelic high.
And notice it wasn't the 2020 reelection farm bill. It happened mid-term
@hmu958 - That sounds like a trip, man... Pun not intended but okay XD
@dominicdeluca6378 - Yup. He legalized hemp federally. That's a hell of a gift
the united states military never ceases to amaze me. my brother in christ why would you build a base, let alone any meaningful structure in a dry pond in a place that experiences a monsoon season 😭
This is me in a busy restaurant kitchen. High as hell not stressing over anything just slangin and bangin
Especially if you have good staff around you. Hard to maintain being in "the zone" with crappy wait staff. 😂
That's my partner at work in our factory. Dude works best stoned.
Think i may be related to these guys. My blood type is thc
Yeah totally the same..... purple heart for you.... smh
It's the only way to be a long distance telephone operator,
that, or lose your mind.
Who in their right mind would ever be stupid enough to ship 8" shells to a firebase near the Cambodian border? This may very well be the biggest FUBAR'd instance of military logistics in history...
And why the hell would you pile them in the middle of the base
The other doc I've seen on him implicitly says it was bait for the Nva/vc. It was part of the whole recon by fire mentality. The patrols would go out, draw fire, and then call in arty or air support and take them out. Or try too anyway. So this is just an extension of that policy. With a whole base.
Americans that's who.... slow down you tactical genius.... ffs.
He isn't a very big guy, but he sure was a big man. Thanks, Doc.
This MAN is what you call a HERO not some jumped up overpaid sports star💯💯💪🎖🎖🎖
Thank you Vietnam Veterans for your service
as a life long stoner I can attest that there are times marijuana turns me into a an unstoppable machine. Completely in the zone. Hyper focused as if time is moving at half speed. For me this is usually in the context of extreme sports but Im pretty sure it would cross over haha.
Skydiving, desert quadbiking, not so much rafting, the cold water knocks the high outta ya. But yeah, you relaxed taking split second decisions...
Thank you guys that gave all
When my grandfather enlisted in WW1 at 17 years of age(he lied so he could fight for king and country as he put it)it was booze that got him and his fellow soldiers through battle. He claimed the brass would wake the men up with hot toddy’s of rum in the morning. He would stand in line more then once just to get another taste of the good stuff.Born in England but raised in Canada,Cpl Harry Goodayle was at Vimmy Ridge,he came home in a body cast from concussion grenades. After the war he went on to start his own business, merried his childhood sweetheart and raise three children. He died at age 67 in 1966.
Love your videos, thanks!!!
Don’t mess with Canadians. In war, we change.
Your own government made you get an experimental vax and you got mad at the working class truckers.
“… running Berserk…”
I know an Aussie Viet Vet who "collected" ears of dead branch managers and made necklaces out 'em and took photos of them, I asked the Guy if the vet in question would show me the pics... he said sure he would... and he did.... 😂 I was hysterical for hours and I asked the vet if that was All he removed and he said "check out the rest of the pics in that box .... I did and I thought there are some guy's who just love to Go the WHOLE Nine yards and don't even bat an eye lid... cold blood at its best 😂😂😂
You are in a war now. Your government is failing you miserably. Ours too. Us too. Fortunately, we still have arms. For now.
the only troops i respect as much as Brits & Gurkhas is you guys. hands down the absolute kings of virtuous war crimes 😂

I didn’t break 100 pounds til freshman year but my pa taught me the combos in second grade. I went from being the bullied to being the metric of toughness, which felt the same as the bullying 😂 any way, I realized the reason I always won, I would do the Mike Tyson thing, and convince myself they were trying to kill me.

Thank you for your service...
One brave tough dude, what an effort ,they don't make'm like that anymore much respect.
I remember hearing this story at the time when it happened. Remarkable.
"more stoned than ever..." LoL! You make it sound like they were doing bong rips during battle.
The buzz would have been long gone he's going adrenaline by that stage😂
Must have been super weed.
Thank you for your Service 👍💯 You are like APACHE WORRIOR.
most dont know but most tropical grown cultivars have thcV, which is more like coffee... iykyk
Sativas are nice
Yep ! I like to smoke a bone before doing yardwork. Mowing the grass and whacking the weeds while in my happy place the entire time. 🙂
@@ageingviking5587yes me too! I gave up drinking in 2020 ..and weed is certainly better than drinking in my opinion..
I used to grow a lot. Around 100 plants at an given time, all indoor. I liked to experiment with strains. I ordered some pure sativas which take forever to flower. One took like 4 months which is insane. Anyway it was like being on a strong upper. Far stronger than coffee. I couldn't do it, it made me panic but other ppl loved it. So yeah you're right

this might sound strange, even to stoners, but weed will heighten your senses and physical coordination.
if you play sports.. football, skateboarding, fighting, it doesn't matter, get high and see what happens. you'll start off confused and goofy but as your body warms up and starts getting physical, shit gets extra focused pretty fast. some of my longest flow states were from doing athletic shit while high
mushrooms take it to a completely different level. especially with endurance. you're so laser focused and in the zone while also having infinite energy
a lot of people that smoke and eat shrooms never figure this out because they never get active while high, but those of you that have definitely know what i'm talking about
i'm a pretty athletic person. muay thai my whole life, linebacker throughout high school. i surf and skate. ill spend 8 hours at taft hitting a practical course for cqb, all while high as fuck lol. but if you're not athletic, the first couple times might be hard. once you get a good foundation, athleticism wise, like after a month of just getting your body ready to be strained, then weed and shrooms will definitely take you to that next level
Yes! after all the comments I was wondering if it was just me.
Also much less sore afterwards, recovery smoother
Depends on the strains and person too (ie sativa vs indica vs hybrid).. with indica being more uplifting and sativa more sedating for some
Great story! Here's the proof that it should be legal everywhere!
It’s just cannabis. There are a lot of people who function better with a little toke. I personally get motivated to move around and want to do productive stuff
same
I always classed myself as a "productive pothead". I was always the one who would be like "Now we're stoned let's go do something fun/stupid."
As a 53-year user of THC, any time this substance induced a "surge," it was a head rush soon to be followed by total body collapse. On the other hand, I never experienced combat so who's to say the effects weren't different under those circumstances. There were rumors Charlie was covering harvested marijuana in morphine base, the next-to-last chemical state of heroin. Can't imagine what a rush from that was like!
Canadian too! We seem to always send our best…

As soon as he was awakened by this noise the high is over.
I don't know where the rumor that everybody that smokes. Herb is a pee snake that wants to do nothing but sit on the couch and eat food. I work 60 hours a week stoned out of my mind and produce excellent quality work. It's just like drinking. The only people that are lazy when they're high are the people that were lazy when they were sober. Aunt, if you don't have a problem throwing hands when you're sober. When you get stoned you will still throw hands without any problem. It will just take more aggravation to get you to the point where you want to do so
Amen sir
I believe it has to do with the people born earlier than the internet. They seem to have some belief they know it all from just smoking marijuana when they were young and lazy. Vs today you can Google the marijuana effects 😂 and a lot more people aren't lazy with marijuana being legalized
It's been bred to be stronger. In the 60's it was still pretty much amateur hour. I dealt, got bags of dried plants. Had to stop smoking except at parties in early 70's, I suspect crops were being sprayed.
@@Steve.._. I'm pretty sure people have been hard-working and smoking weed since they started smoking weed thousands of years ago. But some people are lazy and some people are hard-working and they just called potheads lazy because it was an easy way to get people to think it was a bad thing. Truth be told though. How lazy are you If you and a bunch of your friends decide to move out to the middle of the woods, clear a couple hundred acres of land start planting crops with no power equipment and build houses?
I would be worried about the lung cancer you might get all most substances taken in moderation are fine.
