- How to clean a rug at home. Have you ever wanted to clean your rug yourself at home? Do you have a synthetic rug? In this video I'm going to teach you how to clean a rug at home using easily sourced household cleaning products and a wet and dry vacuum. To deep clean your synthetic area rug you'll need a wet dry vac, some oxi action powder, and some biological washing liquid or powder. The rug I'm cleaning here is a polypropylene synthetic rug and it cleaned up really well using the method I use in this tutorial. This is a great diy rug cleaning tutorial and you will save money following the diy tutorial properly!

It's OxyClean in the states 🙂. Glad I came accross your video. I tried to use my Bissel carpet cleaner to shampoo my area rug & it wasn't working out. It would just roll over the rug & not much was happening. Picked up a shop vac and will see how well this works out for me 😊
What material is the rug made of?

@@CleaningHowTo Now that i look at the label it also says "water repellant." Does that mean it was treated with something to make it repel water? Does this make it more difficult to clean?

@@yvie777 super easy to clean, in fact; I’ve made my own upholstery cleaner that should work great on this; exactly the same mix as my homemade bathroom cleaner. The rug is essentially plastic. My Secret DIY Bathroom CLEANER

I use a drill brush to agitate and then use my extractor.
Careful what fibers you use that method on; it’ll destroy anything natural.

Fabric softener is oil, it’ll leave it sticky, I wouldn’t

Can i soak my cream wool little karpet with large hair with this solution? I've been washing it twice in the washing machine but it's still greyish.
