already have caught a 30# Blue Cat off of these (going to try to get a 60#+ next year). ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 Definitely very strong, and sharp. Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.
Hey don't poo poo simplicity! While I certainly love this elaborate works, I have great admiration for anyone that can design a fly with minimal materials that crushes fish! If I had to choose ONE nymph to use on any given stream at any given time for ANY given species, it would be a Hare's ear. That is an elegantly simple fly and is undeniable in its ability to catch fish.
@mrnuts3317 Dude do you have any idea how old fly fishing is? They were using flies nothing even close to this realistic looking and catching fish. It's not necessary at all lol its just what the hobby as evolved to with heavy focus on the art of the flies. I assure you that they don't need to be this realistic to work.
Hi! I advise you to start with traditional flies and then move on to realistic flies. You can document yourself by specialized forums, Facebook groups, UA-cam, etc.👍🙂
Quick question, your fly looks beautiful btw. But like what happens when your line snaps and the fish takes your fly away. Is that just all that time wasted for nothing? Also I hope you eat the fish you catch with these flys. That is too much effort to not munch a fish.
I've never been fly fishing myself but at this point it seems more like art rather than fishing. My guy just casually sculpting insects. Does accuracy really matter to the fish?
There really is no direct answer to this question... Some people will say realism matters, some will say it doesn't. In my experience, the answer depends on whatever set of parameters you apply the question to: Target species, body of water, season, weather and water conditions, etc. Some days you can chuck cigarette but out there and immediately hook up. Other days, the fish are as picky as my 6 year old at dinner time. But as OP mentioned above, tying is, for many people, an art form. I consider it extremely therapeutic. Everyone needs a creative outlet, and tying is one that has an unreal level of possibilities for people to be original. There are ALSO a small group of tiers that consider themselves "purists" who will only use 100% natural undyed materials. I hold no judgement towards anyone, as long as they don't claim someone else's work as their own. I love this caddis. I've tied a few of the crane fly larvas, I think I'll give these a crack too! Keep em coming!
I onced fished wild rainbows in a river with a #14 orange-beige sulfur spinner. I casted that fly for two hours without a bite. Then, another fellow came over in his boat and gave me a #12 beige spinner. The difference in color and size was something I couldn’t distinguish, but I immediately started getting strikes and continued to do so until dark, with the new fly. Trout are incredibly perceptive creatures.
Hello Anton, I'm sorry but at the moment I don't have the necessary time to make it for sale, maybe in the future.. I can barely cope with taking care of the channel because I do it in parallel with work. I would like to post more often but no I have time. Thanks for your understanding!🤝
Other than the malleability of the lead...is there a reason why you still use lead vs. non-lead wire? Love this art...been thinking about getting into Fly fishing more and more...fly tying is intimidating.
put your lead wires in a few bobbins.. you will find its easier to wrap on the hook with bobbin.. tighter wraps and less waste..and green dental floss will build up the underbody faster... just a few ideas.. great fly
@@spirit19 ok! Will do! That's about the colour I use for dragonfly nymphs, and they are usually pretty succesful, as well as pheasant tail nymphs both tied big, (longshank hooks size 12 or 10)...
No.. a rubber band thread wire and pc of mono heated works wonders and is very crude looking.. spun rabbit face furor peacock hurls with black thread heads catch fish very well
Over 10 mins to make this beauty less than 10 seconds for me to lose up a tree. 😅

I really doubt it needs to be that convincing to trick the fish lol
Just say you dont know shit about fly tying/fishing

Amazing skill! Do you sell these?
I don't have the time to do it for sale, maybe in the future.. Thanks for understanding!
Do these have any actualy weight? I mean can u cast them with an lrf set or you just let them swim?
As you can see in the video it has lead wire, but it is not heavy enough to be able to fish it 2 meters deep..I use it in the Czech method
Amazing. I would lose it first cast in a tree.
Yeah, me too...😏
Even fish have problems with AI
Well done…thank you
My pleasure!🙂🎣
more than perfect!
Many thanks!👍
Very nice 👍
Many thanks!🙂👍
Good job body , Ty .❤

All things can be done by machine while making the hook
Wow I’m lost watching this great art work I would love to give this a try never have I ever made anything but want to now
lure seperti ini susah dipakai hanya sekali pakai ...disambar mulut ikan ... lure pasti rusak...
ive always said, fly tying is a fine art up there with pottery-making, imo. dudes the michaelangelo of fly tying 😆😆😆
you should include images of the fly you are imitating at the end too =) great job!
Hyper realistic fly! Beautiful.

Una pupa muy bonita y seguro que pescadora. Excelente montaje. Saludos.

Where did you get the nymph skin? I been looking everywhere for it. I only found real thin stuff.

Why not use real fly?😕
I fish with both traditional and realistic flies!
To each his own. I'll just buy them.

Meanwhile im catching 10 trout a day with night crawlers. Absolutely appreciate the art though. i would be thoroughly pissed losing that to a fish.

Very professional! Do you sell them at all?
Hi, I don't have time to make for sale and international shipping would probably be very expensive too..
@@spirit19I really like this one. This one is my favorite. I hope and wish you can make a batch. If you do I’ll buy it.
man if im a fish im eating that s like a mofo

I’m curious if the fly falls like that or hook side up??
I haven’t tried fly fishing yet,
The fly will sit in the water, upside down, but depending on the currents it can sit in a different position..
put your lead wires in a few bobbins.. you will find its easier to wrap on the hook with bobbin.. tighter wraps and less waste..and green dental floss will build up the underbody faster... just a few ideas.. great fly
