God, this is how you make a review. Short and to the point. Show the items that are included piece by piece. Explain how it works, show footage of you using it. I’m going to pick one up and every review is like… 15 minutes long and somehow explained less than this guy did. I’m subscribing and I don’t even live in West Virginia.
lol... thanks so much for that awesome comment Alex! I don't believe you'll regret picking one of this up. I just took mine on a camping trip because I wanted something I could just throw in the car in case I wanted it. Take care and good luck!
Thanks for checking out my video! I hope you enjoy your kayaks, I still have mine and I take it with me every time I'm traveling and there just might be a chance for me to get out on the water but I don't want to roof-top a hard boat. Take are!
Hey NATS! Thanks for the awesome feedback, my friend. It's always great to hear from a fellow mountaineer. You very well may, I'm planning on doing a lot of camping and paddling this season. If you see me out, give me a shout. Take care!
I think it does really well with the skeg attached, but without it tends to wander... especially if there's any wind. I always enjoy getting out on mine... it's not high performance kayak, but it's a lot of fun and it has a lot of room for gear, if you're planning on camping.
Nice video. Subscribed! What is the appropriate speed u get while rowing singly in such still water? How many patches did they provide. I m on the verge on changing my decision of getting this one against explorer 300.
I get 2 to 2 1/2 mph paddling solo in mine. About the same speed as I can do in my canoe. Iwas also pleasantly surprised how well it did in windy and choppy conditions.
Well done review, I think it is best to order the two person model even if you are alone, for the small difference in price you get a lot more bang for your buck.

Very informative sir. Thank you. Just one quick question what is your opinion on durability or ruggedness of Kayak material if you brush up against some sunken branches etc.?
Thanks for watching! On shallow lakes, like the one this video was recorded on, there are many times I 've scraped the bottom of the boat on underwater stumps and stones. So far, I've had zero punctures or tears. Granted, I cruise slowly (this boat isn't meant for speed) but it's proven to be very durable. The price has really came down on these boats too, I think they're a solid choice if your main goal is to have something that doesn't take up much space when it's stored and can get you out on the water for some recreational paddling. If you want to do some distance exploration I would go for a more streamlined hardbody boat.
At the front of the kayak, I have a hole in a similar position as the one in the back which is used to drain water. Should there be a hole at the front or is my one defected? I don’t have a plug or anything to fit in the front
Wow... that's a great question. Mine only has the one hole (in the back) and it does have a plug with it. Even if the design was updated and they put a scupper (hole) at the front, I would imagine they should've provided a plug for it as well. I would contact Intex and see what they can tell you. Thanks for checking out my video!
I've changed out the middle of the paddles with a longer part from a cut off broom handle sealed off with duct tape. The longer paddles are much better and you don't get as wet.
That's good thinking! I wound up using a longer paddle I have for when I'm using my Jackson Tupelo 12. I still get wet, but I tend to use a fairly vertical paddling style.
Does anybody know the difference between this and the Tacoma? All I can find online is the explorer supports more weight? They seem identical. The explorer is listed as “recreational, sea.” The Tacoma is just “recreational.”
@@WildWonderfulWeekends thanks for the link! This basically the same thing I found out. They both look identical. I assume it’s just the extra weight support? I wasn’t sure what the difference is between “recreational/sea” and “recreational”. It’s weird there’s not much more info online.
@@Pope005 Agreed... after reading that article myself, I realized it wasn't very useful. The comparison chart near the bottom makes me think the Explorer is possibly made from thicker material. Other than that it has marginally larger dimensions but there doesn't seem to be a huge difference. I can't speak for the Tacoma, but I've gotten plenty of use out of the Explorer. It's a fun kayak.
Please be aware that the price paid for the Intex was affected by “Covid Inflation,” these normally sell, and currently sell, at Academy for $89-$99 dollars. Good, informative review though. Keep up the good work.

Thanks E.K.! I agree, even if it's just a little more cargo space, it's worth it.
there only exists the 2 person model..

I noticed you sat in the front seat position. Did you find that worked best with one person?
Yes, for me it seemed to feel best with the front seat attached at the rear most point of the Velcro. Good eye, btw.
I got one for me and the gear and one for the kids.

What if it u go over 400lbs
Ya know... I'm not sure BUT, that would make a pretty interesting video. I think I'll give it a shot.
Have you tried this on a river with mild Rapids? Class I-II? Looking for a cheap IK to run on the River.
I haven't BUT, I'm actually hoping to do so this season.
I've taken mine down the Natahala River at the NOC in NC and it did great!
Also right now in 2022 the price is 150$ for this instead of 100

I bought mine in 2019 for somewhere around 80 bucks, checked today's price and I am surprised.
$137
Just got one from Facebook marketplace for 80.00 Brand new
Nice! Can't beat that.
