I saw this movie when it came out, 1979, I was 12, air conditioned matinee. I couldn't grasp the notion of true love, but I just felt something special about the movie, and this music was a perfect accompaniment to that experience. Wouldn;t have felt it without it. Grusin is a strangely underrated film composer.
I always loved this version of the song. The arrangement has a kind of Circus element to it and I love the romantic side. Mr. Grusin did a great job on this; but I also like Mr. Mancini's version also...
I've always imagined Joe playing this on the clarinet. Somewhere up there where he could practice playing it. Amazing movie. Makes me cry every time. 💜
I like the honesty from Warren in this film. Even at the end, when he is now a new person and blows of coach. Such a great film and soundtrack, up there with other 70s sentimental greats like Arthur, California Suite and Tootsie.
All good films never seen Arthur… I love HEAVEN CAN WAIT … the scores the clarinet I love it …. Even though TOOSIE was made in the 80s I was born in 1964 … the movies in the 70s & 80s some of the were masterpieces it was a beautiful time Not like today even though HEAVEN CAN WAIT is a remake Warren Beatty put it together beautifully
love the music from HEAVEN CAN WAIT! Dave grusin is a great composer! (*I met warren beatty at LAX in late 1980s; was nice to me; irony is, he was boarding a flight which Faye Dunaway was on in first class; saw her first, she was with a man, and she dressed in like a man tuxedo with red carnation, only ones on the plane at the LAX gate, conversed with her, she was very nice to me, then when I departed, Beatty was ready to board, wearing sunglasses, and asked for a picture of him, a photo of he and I together, and for an autograph; he obliged).
Joe was such a premadonna. If he couldn't be a quarterback, he has to be an obscenely rich guy, and if he can't be a rich guy, he has to be a quarterback.
Before awardng Meryl Streep with an honorary palm , let's just think how wrong she was when she said that football is not an art After all she forgot that movies concerning football like HCW had been done and had been successful
A great movie... I watched in 1981, I got 8years old.... and I just watched again now... but I got 48 years old.... and I liked it more....
Just watched it, great movie, great music, cried like a baby.
"You're the Quarterback? Yes I'd love to have a cup of coffee with you!"
That line kills me every time!
"Its ok."
@@supermanprime6758 there's nothing to be afraid of ❤
When the lights go off at the end of the movie, I always tear up.
Cause I KNOW what's coming!!!
Would you pay a penny to save a fish who thinks?

Meraviglioso film e musica indimenticabile, fra 100 anni, se ci sarà ancora l'essere umano, verrà ancora visto e ascoltato.

The circus element is great, and the transition to a serious theme awesome

Amazing movie. Makes me cry every time. 💜
If only he played the clarinet... and not the soprano sax.
Thank you Mr. Grusin for this...
Great movie and music! Dave Grusin is a master pianist.
Such lovely writing! All the counterpoint and lush harmonies. People don’t write like this anymore.
Dave Grusin has a lot of beautiful pieces. He’s amazing.

It wasn't his idea to be Farnsworth. His initial reaction when Mr. Jordan suggested it was that it was a ludicrous idea.
