Glad to see you cover another Doom game. Another expansion that I’d love you to tackle at some point is Doom 3 Resurrection Of Evil which not only has The Artifact that slows down time temporarily, The Grabber which is basically a glorified Gravity Gun, and easily my most favorite version of the SSG which is a beast to use and my main during most of the campaign.

I played these levels day one back in days (yes on an Xbox) and I didn't know a single person who talked about this amazing level pack. That first stage is probably my favorite level ever, I was so impressed with its design. Amazing stuff!
Vivisection is a great co-op map too. The unaware players with very low ammo have to make it back through the map after an archvile started resurrecting every monster youve slain. Which is a lot.
I fucking hate civvies comment section because everyone pals around the day before it releases and then no one gives a fuck about you if you're a day late. Fuck you civvie.

has anybody else had civvie completely replace their internal monologue? like, i'll be doing random stuff and the whole time every god damn thought is a pristine copy of his voice.
The funmy thing is that the yellow key in the earth base can be the very first thing you see in the map, if you look to the left when you start. You can see it through the window, but you probably wont realise until you start actively looking for it after seeing the yellow door and backtrack to check old areas. Very clever design
I'm currently working my way through this episode. Definitely think Vivisection's among the more harder Doom maps I've gotten through thus far because of the number of monsters you have to kill off in tight corridors.
I actually played this on my 360 to get the achievements. I didn't find even half the secrets you did. It's great to hear you talk positively about this, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
“A symphony of violence!” I’ve been watching your UA-cam channel for a long while now, and I gotta say, this is the best one you’ve made so far! Civvie 11, you are an internet legend
Just completed NRFTL. A few conclusions: 1) Civvie's right, absolutely great level design throughout - a number of times I literally applauded the dickish genius of enemy (and particularly Archvile) placement, just after I'd died. 2) I never found the BFG lol. If I had one piece of advice, it would be to figure out how to get it as early as possible, even if the secret required is insane to figure out. 3) There is a backpack on the very last level. I found it when literally everything was dead, lol. I feel like the game was just trolling us at that point.
Just played it with Brutal Doom. I really like the concept of the final fight. You start in a crowded maze, trying to thin the hordes to be able to move around, when a Cyberdemon shows up and starts hounding you inside the maze. You can choose to click switches and reduce the amount of walls and get room to maneuver, but at the cost of bringing in more imps. Really good stuff. I wish the final boss room had 3 times the amount of enemies. Maybe two CDs after you kill the first one. Would give me reason to completely reduce the maze to a large arena with little walls in it
I really enjoyed No Rest For The Living. Played on UV and didn't die once, but I did reload a couple of fights because I wanted to see if I could do them better. Most, if not all the enemy encounters in this wad are extremely well done. Looks like every map has a Computer Area Map, they want you to explore and go hunting for those secrets. The progressive level design felt cool to experience as well. Cannot recommend this enough.
The one thing I remember from No Rest for the Living, is that on the Xbox 360 version, if you beat the episode you could get a Doom Marine outfit for your Xbox 360 avatar. I wore it like a badge of honor when I earned it.

0:28 post-Starfield viewer here. this is indeed an evergreen joke
I highly recommend playing with the NRftL MIDI replacement. It raises the experience to a new level.
Congratularions on the 400k subscribers, it seems like yesterday when i discovered this channel and it seemed like such a niche place , one of the best gaming channels for sure
Well Civvie, thank you for letting me know about this! I was probably one of the first people in my region to play Deathmatch over 14.4k modems. I love DOOM, love your coverage of the series, and now I learn that there's a badass expansion I never played.
I played these levels day one back in days (yes on an Xbox) and I didn't know a single person who talked about this amazing level pack. That first stage is probably my favorite level ever, I was so impressed with its design. Amazing stuff!
I only only played No Rest for the Living years after release and only finished it a decade later. Was epic!
Civvie being a fan of both Romeros makes him all the more endearing
If he ends up being a fan of Cesar Romero (joker on the old Adam West batman show) he's got a hat trick
I remember that first level being a free demo part of doom II on 360 and I remember playing it for hours and figuring out all the secrets lol. solid upload
Finding out this Map Pack was first released on the xbox blew my mind. No Rest For The Living is by far my favorite Add-on I've stumbled across. Oh, and the freedom is liberating, Civvie. 😉
It's just so nice hearing Civvie genuinely happy throughout this video. The sheer joy coming out of him while he's giving us a breakdown of each level just feels really good.
Thanks for reminding us all how good doom levels are made and how great this wad is.
@Billy mug bot
Holy shit Civvie is famous enough to get bot comments
@@TwonklerBlue To be fair the guards in the dungeon he is kept in are robots so he's gonna get bots in his comments
@@IDHLEBWow, I'm a bot? Who knew. I thought I was one of the many people who supported Civvie on Patreon at the time
Just discovered this channel, been playing Doom longer than I can remember. I remember being 6 years old (1993) and repeating codes (idkfa etc) out loud that some kid told me on the playground as I walked home so wouldn;t forget. You're the shit. Thank you.
Yup, there is no Backpack in this expansion, except for the final level.
Uh oh demons back!
Yea him mentioning more doom content makes me think the demon is gonna make civvie play the phone Doom game, Mighty Doom
Having this on my switch for a quick weekend family visit made the long-ish car rides really enjoyable.
We've been blessed with more Civvie Doom content. Great day to be alive.
has anybody else had civvie completely replace their internal monologue? like, i'll be doing random stuff and the whole time every god damn thought is a pristine copy of his voice.
Fuck yes another civvie11 video. Also imagine John Arbuckle screaming , "STARFIEEEEEEEELD!"
l put my hamster in a sock and slammed it against the furniture
starfield, coming if black ops 2 is real in 2025
has anyone ever hidden a hellpriest in a big arena say just behind a secret halfwall so you have to find it while it revives demons?
Very happy to see a new Doom video. Feels like it's been forever since his last one.
Playing Doom always puts me in the mood to crank some Slayer!🤘🏻😊
I’d love to see Civvie give his take on My House. It’s one of the best modern Doom wads, with tons of detail and so much technical prowess in it
1 year later and I keep your doom vids on repeat. Almost a comfort watch now haha.
LOVE the classics coverage. Everything you do is great, but especially this. That Bob Ross sequence in particular got me. I feel seen.
The funmy thing is that the yellow key in the earth base can be the very first thing you see in the map, if you look to the left when you start. You can see it through the window, but you probably wont realise until you start actively looking for it after seeing the yellow door and backtrack to check old areas. Very clever design
I would genuinely love some more videos about these add-ons. BTSX is an amazing DLC and so is DOOM Zero
Specially BTSX!
I'm currently working my way through this episode. Definitely think Vivisection's among the more harder Doom maps I've gotten through thus far because of the number of monsters you have to kill off in tight corridors.
Yeah I died on that map like 9 times a a kid😂
Vivisection, if played without a certain secret just for kicks, is definitely a good challenge for the average player!
I actually played this on my 360 to get the achievements. I didn't find even half the secrets you did. It's great to hear you talk positively about this, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
I was NOT expecting the return of Humiliating The Cyberdemon, Civvie doings gods work with these recent uploads
can't believe he changed the intro tho
impossible
heresy
unspeakable
heresy
heresy
I remember playing this wad and having to rocket duel the Cyberdemon. I liked it.
Nearly 21 minutes of Civvie having pure, unadulterated fun. You love to see it.
“A symphony of violence!” I’ve been watching your UA-cam channel for a long while now, and I gotta say, this is the best one you’ve made so far! Civvie 11, you are an internet legend
The clip of Queens "Liar" got me in hysterics, Fucking love that track. Whenever Civvie uploads it makes my day
Fucking amazing track from an amazing album
@Stefano Pavone 50 years later and its still amazing
Man has great taste.
This was brings back so many memories. I used to exclusively play the secret level in coop split screen with my little brother. Good times.
Always love a PRO DOOM for our reigning King of retro shooters.
Just completed NRFTL. A few conclusions:
1) Civvie's right, absolutely great level design throughout - a number of times I literally applauded the dickish genius of enemy (and particularly Archvile) placement, just after I'd died.
Would give me reason to completely reduce the maze to a large arena with little walls in it
Agreed. The maze, that you slowly open up, is a fun setup for a legit rocket duel with the Cyberdemon.
Got the WAD for this because of Civvie's video here. Loved it.
You weren't wrong about Starfield
I feel like the way you describe that first level is art, and the level itself rises to an experience worthy of being art. What fun!
"We are now the proud owner of the Big Fucking Gun 9000" is an exquisite line. Just immaculate.
So nice to have a happy civvie after all the jank and migraines
The one thing I remember from No Rest for the Living, is that on the Xbox 360 version, if you beat the episode you could get a Doom Marine outfit for your Xbox 360 avatar. I wore it like a badge of honor when I earned it.
LEGACY OF RUST WHEN CIVVIE…?
