Every passing moment in this video impresses me more and more. I didn't think it would be possible. Such a fantastic product... It's exactly what I wanted
GoFastCampers I'm looking for a system for a "new 6.5 ft bed F-150" that is the same level as the roof of the truck when it is closed. It would have to stick out over the back a bit instead, maybe with a sloping rear lift gate. Nobody makes a system that fits in the garage door to my underground parking.
Color me impressed! Clearly it's a well thought-out design. Aesthetically pleasing, looks great. Love the interior lighting and the integrated USB ports. I'll be sure to show this to my friends.
Very cool build. So glad to see you support models other than just Toyota. I am planning to order one of these for my 07 Chevy Silverado (short bed) soon. This seems like a bulletproof build you have here - you guys rock!!
This is TOPS people. I got to see this at SEMA. Very impressive. Out of all the stuff I looked at, this system caught my eye. It's unbelievably simple, yet very well made!
While others are continuing to add to their lead times, we've been focused on efficiency and decreasing our own lead times. Customers who make a deposit today can have their camper installed as early as February.
What we’ve all been waiting for! You guys definitely filled a void in the market! Hope you can keep your price point going! It’s a great deal for what looks to be a top of line well engineered camper! Love it!
I saw your camper at overland expo west. I filmed a part of your camper but lost the other half of my footage some how. So bummed. I wanted to post the video on my channel. I hope to see you guys at other events so I can film a full interview.
I love the design, utilitarian and well built. Thank you for including the information about the components that are designed and built in house, that really helps maintain QC when you manufacture your own components. Those who can appreciate quality in design and execution are willing to pay for it, but only if they are aware of it. If you are committed to this platform it will be interesting to see how it evolves. One thing that has always bothered me about the truck/topper platform for camping is the less than comfortable entry/ exit of the camper (perhaps it's just the price of admission).
Awesome RTT, I just saw this up close at the Off Road Show in Pomona, CA today. Love the side rail panels for additional accessories to be mounted, the lighting on the roof top ~ ridiculously sick and the locking mechanism really stealthy. Base price at $6500, Side Door extra and other options available, I might have to break out the 401K to get it. RTT really looks great!
I`m just watching this video again and again.. you dont even know how cool this is (well... you know, thats why are you doing this :) ) compared to all the other ones on the market... It is a true off roader camper setup!!!
Love the camper. I have three questions. How long does it take to install the camper to the bed of your truck and how long does it take to remove the trailer from the bed of your truck? Ever consider adding a screen on the side panels to keep the bugs out?
This would work for me. An awning for the big door of the tent would be nice to block a light rain while still being able to see out and keep the air flowing. I’ll have to start saving my pennies
Very good review and details,im close to making a purchase,2023 tacoma long bed, just made apt. For air bags and feb uary should be able to pull the trigger and buy one.only one question,i know its weird, but i like my radio stations, how is the reception with the tent over the shark fin antenna?
Sure is tempting. Two issues; first I wouldn't want a translucent roof (probably not an issue) and second is, "Camper orders placed today have an estimated start date of May 2021." I understand why, but not certain that I want to wait that long
Hey Paul - we have a long lead time due to high demand. Feel free to shoot us an email or request a call via our website and we can answer any questions. Support@gfcengineering.com
I have ‘20 Tacoma TRD off-road access cab long bed (obviously), will I need an add a spring for this camper weight so it doesn’t sag? Will I be able to get my 450 dirt bike inside (height wise)? Also is there an “winter package for the tent available? Will my satellite connection work since the camper overlaps the roof receiver? Thanks! This thing looks Great!
I would look into vagabond! its kinda the same thing. after i got my V2 GFC i wish I went with vagabond but oh well. with my '19 trd tacoma i went with ARB's dakkar "660" lb leafs in the rear
i'm not saying they should've gone all the way because it is a great product but man, the space it would have provided had they done the same as the flippac. im not sure if that was because of patents or what, but i would pay an extra 1,000 if they could have a 180 degree hinge and a tent top. i understand that they felt having a hard top and the overall design of the set up is far stronger than what i might be asking for. i think its a great product, i wonder if they can accommodate custom orders.
Wow! 250 lbs. The proprietary hinge/latch hardware and aluminum extrusion frame look awesome. Question: Could a 270 degree, wrap around canopy attach to the aluminum frame? Keep up the great work. Will you exhibit at Overland Expo East in November?
Definitely familiar with the flippac. This is a better solution for weather, ease of setup and durability. The flippac was not cheaper, and the build quality was much lower.
Hey guys, I love the camper. I have a normal aluminum camper with windoors. On the inside of the windoors I have tool boxes (factory from the camper builder). I love being able to store my recovery gear, air compressor etc. on one side and guns or fishing gear on the other. I'd hate to lose that storage area. Do you have any storage that could go into the space when you open up that side door? Keep up the good work.
Hey Kristian, we are currently building a production unit with the first set of front and rear windows. If you stay tuned with our facebook or instagram account (@gfc_usa) you will be able to see updates as they happen.
Really digging this... curious if you have any plans to be at the Outdoor Expo in Flagstaff? Would love to see this in person, as well as talk to you about when later model Tundra models might be available... thanks!
Awesome product! I am interested down the road. For this specific set-up with new Tacoma, do you know the top height of the camper on stock suspension? My concern is wanting to leave the camper on year round (or mostly) but I go into parking garages downtown for work. I have a 3 in lift currently and my stock antenna hits the 6'4 or 6'6 height barrier but I have some space below that. Also, have you used heat sources with maybe one section of the bed out to warm in inside space for cold/skiing conditions to camp? Thanks!
Expanding on my previous comment you can buy a cheap tarp at Harbor Freight or Walmart for 5 or $10 depending on size and temporarily attach to truck cap and make a very nice shelter/canopy area to set outside even have fire in the rain.. best part with traditional truck cap there's no popping up tent part having to lift yourself up to elevated bed. You're on the solid bed of the truck. You can just use some C clamps to attach truck cap to bed. It's amazingly a simple but excellent camper setup
You can absolutely do this, and if it works for you, great! Getting out is what matters, and we make gear that makes it even easier and more comfortable for folks to go adventure. The most important part is having a good time!
Do the panels make the pickup bed reasonably warm in winter with a sleeping person in there or is about the same as the tent? It doesn't sound like they are insulated.
Cool build ! Met you guys at Adventure Driven after OX last spring. (Green Ram). Love the light concept. Anything for full size rigs yet ? I'll share on my outdoor page. Be well! Maybe see you at OX 18 ?? Jim
LOL Then ignore my inquiry on your web page... I'd be totally stoked to run this on my mega cab. Will you guys be at the NW Overland Rally? If so come hit me up for a beer, gray long travel megacab....
Hello GFC. I have 2 questions for you. 1 - How do I wash the rear window of my truck if I can't access it? Important detail if you get the window option on your camper. 2 - Isn't there any concern about water pooling between the mesh screen and the window flap? From what I've seen from this video, the flap zips down to the floor of the tent. I really don't want to deal with a soaked matress or wet equipment. Thank you.
Washing your truck would be similar to how its done with any topper, and there is drainage in between the mesh screen and window flap that runs away from the sleeping area. Water cannot enter.
Its still not clear to me why not make the tent longer so a person can get out without messing with the pads. Also if it rains how are you going to ventilate the tent while not letting the water in.
Nothing was mentioned about storing your sleeping gear up top when closed? I don’t like removing my sleeping bags and pillows (I have a hard sell RTT now that I store everything inside). I just want to set the bed and close the top. It this possible? Thinnest camper quote worries me as I would like it 1-2 inches thicker so you can store sleeping gear up there. Please let me know. Camper looks great!
Thanks for reaching out! You can totally fit down/synthetic sleeping bags and camping pillows up there and still close the lid. Really heavy Coleman style stuff may be a tight fit, but with this camper it's a lot easier to pull bedding out and store it below than in any other RTT.
Someone might have asked and it might have already been answered, but why are the gas shocks on the outside of the camper instead of the inside? Thanks!
How do you get in and out..? There seems to be angled bars in the tailgate area?. That doesn't seem like a great plan... But cool idea in other ways though.
I am curious about installing...does the manufacturer provide the installing service?and, is there any locking system inside the platform for the security purpose?
Wait... I'm looking at your website now and this camper is showing up as $500. Is that for this whole setup or just one part of it??? Edit: Ohhh I see, that's for a "deposit'. You guys want a fucking arm and a leg for these... I knew it.
We have two new videos since this one! Check either of them out, the color grading, Audio and editing has improved, but the product has also completely changed too!
Hey Bryan, the panels do open. We've also seen some customers attach mosquito netting if you are concerned about it being fully open. Feel free to request a phone call via our site if you'd like to discuss further.
My jaw dropped at the lighting solution. THIS is innovation.
Till they stop working...
Nothing innovational, last century
This is the answer to my needs, a camper that can be still be used as a regular pick up which is most of the time. brilliant.
These guys look like they would throw in a growler of IPA and tell you about Dave Mathews Band for an hour while rolling a jay.
...are you hiring? 👋
🤭🤣fuckn great...
They have way better taste than that, judging by the design.
Every passing moment in this video impresses me more and more. I didn't think it would be possible. Such a fantastic product... It's exactly what I wanted
very cool system--this covers everything I want with nothing I don't awesome job! Now I just have to get a pickup and some extra cash...

I have one ordered and will be picking it up in June 2022. I didn’t see anything about the led light strips? Has that been depreciated? Thanks
The RAM trucks have a side compartment/storage on the each side of the truck bed. Can you still have access to those with a BaseCamp installed?
Hey guys, I love the camper. I have a normal aluminum camper with windoors. On the inside of the windoors I have tool boxes (factory from the camper builder). Man you really need to build us first gen Tundra guys one.
We have made at least a dozen first gen tundra units! They fit great!

So stoked on this camper!!! Will you guys be in San Diego at all? I would love to check one out in person.THX

Thanks Francois! We are using automotive gasket material on all the panel edges. Its an EDPM based product with 3m adhesive.
