Can’t see why half of you guys are hating on the build when you don’t know what half of it is. I get it most is not “necessary” but don’t hate on him because you don’t have it. You can “overland without this stuff yes. But if you know him he uses his truck the way the suspension was designed to be used and valved/ sprung accordingly and not just for cruising the highway.
Hands down the best, most thorough, complete taco build ive ever seen, dude seems beyond knowledgable on every detail of his rig, mad props. im liking that rooftop tent, clean profile when down and easy to setup!
favorite part of the video was watching the truck drive over the bumpy area and the camera in the wheel well so we can see the suspension working. That suspension looks killer...really workings, good travel, absorbing the bumps, and keeping the truck stable.
That is one sweet truck!!! He put a ton of money into the build and he seem very knowledgeable about all aspects of the truck. At least he actually uses it and didn't just build a mall crawler. Great video!
Because he didn't plan to upgrade so much, which is a common thing when people start going down the mod-hole. I got a brand new TRD Off-Road for $33k back in 2016. People paying $50k for basically the same thing with some tacky cosmetics and a suspension setup that's going to get tossed anyways is just silly to me, but like others have said, it's their money let people buy what makes sense to them and makes them happy. Not everyone has the same wants/needs, and just coz it doesn't make sense for you doesn't mean that to someone else it isn't a good fit.
Agree... however, I honestly believe most Tacoma owners go into the purchase with the mindset of keeping the truck relatively stock. Needs often change, but it's pretty obvious this guy has gone off the deep end with mods. The Pro trim is an absolute waste of money at over $50K.
This guy was my old swim coach. He's a programmer and awesome photographer. His prius was legit, that sound system was incredible. When he started going overlanding with his build I was so jealous. Sick build coach!
Well, he looks like a bloated whale so that’s comforting that he knows how to swim! Also why he doesn’t recommend aluminum skids….I’m getting fat just looking at him
for lunch im running a foot long meatball sub for kicks im running Jordans for living im running a 2 bed Condo for running im not actually running. this guy is running everything.
Thank you for making and posting this video. Extra thanks for including the parts used in the description section. Makes it a lot easier. I just bought a 2020 trd offroad and I can not wait to start modifying it. 🤙
I have to comment that I have always been a big fan of factory carpet floor mats ( not a big off roader) but I just bought a 20 TRD Sport 4wd and it came with factory rubber mats and they out perform weather tech by far. the fit is the best and the rubber (not plastic) lays down great all my friends have weather tech that's how I did my compare
what makes you think the rear bumper was a "boat load" - I promise it was cheaper than most of the bumpers you will find online. Joe makes amazing stuff and doesn't charge a ton.
@@jamiethomas8975 It got built in about 6 hours before leaving for a trip to moab. He has asked if I want some, but I haven't really had a need. Zip ties work.
And ruin the reliability? Theres a reason Toyota refuses to put turbos on their vehicles and most people appreciate it. We dont buy these cars to go really fast, we buy them to get us from point A to B while detouring through E, F and G for the next 400,000 miles lol
Bumper was honestly fine, besides the powder coat. It held it's shape perfectly and everything functioned as intended. The insurance adjuster just gave me the max payout for it because install, labor, assembly of the bumper after a fresh coat was something they couldn't price. Bruteforce makes some of the most well built stuff out there. I sincerely suggest you check them out. The owner, Billy, has a rad 2nd gen on 42s and ORE struts.
@@cnc75adventures49 Its not really an opinion though. It is a heavy Tacoma with all that stuff. Opinion would be if he said its bad or good. I guess weight is relative though.
I am noticing that many of you are doing a short bed vs a long bed, is it really that big of a difference to have the longer wheel base while doing the overland stuff? I have a history of HATING any short bed truck I have owned, like serious regret, so if I do this, I really want long bed. thanks :)
@@tacomabeast definitely like a toyota commerical because I'm sold! Thanks man really looking forward to being apart of the community! Love watching your vids
Tacoma Beast , would love to know the setup for the white Tacoma running next to him at the end, looking for a set up like that for my new white Tacoma...
Not trying to sharp shoot here, but if you are camping in the back of your bed, you should really make sure your exhaust runs to the outside perimeter of your truck bed, so you do not die. Just in the instance when you are topping off battery, etc.
TheMityquin there are those folks in every sub culture. I was a BMW M3 e92 guy and the money that people had to throw down and think how cool they were was alive and well.
Very Nice Rig and enjoyed the video. However, Disagree with his comment regarding high clearance steel rear bumpers being "too much weight" for the Taco and dessert running. Most HC bumpers are 200 lbs, more or less with tire carrier. His truck with the Go Fast Camper (which weighs 250-300 lbs PLUS whatever cargo carried in the bed) PLUS HC bumper may be too much weight but for LT suspension, having a SUA (spring under axle) set up with bed cage is ideal for high speed desert running. Therefore, its the CAMPER not the bumper which is adding too much weight IMO. Not to mention the GFC is going to be top heavy and make the rear end more prone to bounce around when dessert running. just saying

So, good for him, likely good for this channel, but simply overwhelming for the everyday person....not that it isn't useful, or helpful to some.
Personally I dont think it's a great idea to put cost of builds. There's just to many haters. The way you did this perfect detailed list of parts. Not a builds happen all at once. If you really knew all the money you invested into any hobby from the start it may keep you from ever trying.
Tacoma Beast I’m new to this and cost info would be really well received so I get idea as to how to budget. I’d love links to all the mods he has added and who he used. That info to me would be golden! 👍
So 18:22 out of 22:53 talking about all the upgrades spent on this build (ad nauseum) to finally talk about the camper, which is supposedly the title of the video. This should have been called “I spent way too much money on tricking out a truck, and oh by the way, I put a camper on it just because I could”.
While sleeping in tent do you close up sides rear and tailgate ? How you you exit ? Internal handles? Internal Latches on the inside ? Need more info!!!🤔
I’m both confused and amazed and how went from a Prius to this Taco and with all that knowledge 😳
I was thinking the same shit
Just remember all! You don't need all this stuff to go out and adventure!
The only problem is spending 15k or probably more to get it built like that!!.
Shane Baustian Mom and Dad’s money is always nice 🤷♂️
lol you need NONE of that stuff
The reality is most of what he said was all about "how it looks" lol these guys built nothing.. they just pay to have it installed.
You do need all of this to be a level 10 douche bag

Total truck geek. It's a blast just watching this guy recount everything he's done to this rig.
From a Prius with a Tree Hugger vanity plate to a lifted truck on 35" tires, I love it!

Awesome build. You've obviously sunk a few dollars into it but actually use it as built so zero guilt.

Why pay the extra money to get a TRD Pro when you are going to take all the stuff off and replace it with aftermarket stuff anyway?
If you have the funds why not?
I mean, he can do what he wants. Just saying , I wouldn’t.

Just got a 2019. Don't have money for add ons now hahaha
that truck is a dream build by the way what an excellent set up !!!!!
Thanks for writing all the products he mentioned and putting them all in the description.
I wasnt expecting his truck to be that nice, pretty much in the same style I would do it also👍
LOL damn, never seen an angle where you could see how much movement the cab mount bushing has!
I finally understand why guys install lights in their wheel wells. When you spend $10K on your shocks you want to keep an eye on them at night.
Nice looking 🌮‼️
Really sharp for an extreme build. Also really liking the GFC recently. Just about to start my build on my 2018 TRD off road.

Love the channel guys🤘 I recently got a 2011 taco and am planning on making an overland setup
i don't always spend a boat load of money on a custom made rear bumper but when i do i make sure that i use zip ties to hold my license plate.
I saw that too lol
what makes you think the rear bumper was a "boat load" - I promise it was cheaper than most of the bumpers you will find online. Joe makes amazing stuff and doesn't charge a ton.
Yea I had a custom rear bumper made and the fabricator welded some license plate tabs on. Not sure why they didnt with this one

I wonder how them hinges are doing? Heard they are flying off the camper.

Top notch audio.. and top notch taco build. Compitited in meca sq?

Great video amazing build and I really like the fact you put a lot in the comments about what’s on the truck. 👍🏻👍🏻
Are all those upgrades really needed to load a camper on the truck bead? Would not it be enough to install airbags?
I lost track after about the 70 thousand dollar mark. Lol Respect though on the rig.

What is the housing he uses to hold his Scanspeak Revelator 10m's and Scanspeek 3004 tweeters to the front pillar (at 16:56)
They are custom fiberglass.
Batteries should always be relocated to the back of the rig.. its such a massive improvement in handling performance for little cost.
Thanks for the tip!
That is on BAD TRUCK...! I love the whole set up..!

Did you have to cut off and reweld supports for the body which are just behind the front wheels and interfere with the 35's no matter lift you did
