TRACTOR MOOOOOOOVE. Helping a Dairy Farmer!!!

  • Still moooooving on without dad. One job at a time. This time it's a late afternoon move of farm tractor that won't move on its own. We use our Peterbilt 579 semi tractor and our Trail-Eze TE801 ramp trailer (super tilt) with a new planetary winch to load the tractor, haul it to the dealer, and then unload it, but we have a little trouble with the unload. Nothing a little experience and ingenuity can't solve, though. Again, I wish to thank everyone who has expressed their prayers and/or condolences for the death of my Dad. The outpouring of support from my viewers has been tremendous and has helped in this difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you. Also, thank you for your patience. I am still making videos, but I took a couple weeks off-call after my dad passed, so I wasn't doing very many jobs. This is another job trying to get to the new normal without Dad. I will continue to perform jobs and create videos, as long as God allows. Things will be different moving forward. I have to trust that God will guide me and this channel.
    Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!

    Good to see you mentoring one of your son's friends. Your Father's knowledge is being passed on down through you to another. Beautiful thing to see. Teaching by "doing" not from only a book. God Bless you all as you continue life's journey even though your heart is still hurting.

    Eli appears to be a quick study and has an awesome teacher. Also sounds like a very intelligent and common sense young man, he'll be great to have around when he can be there full time. Also wonderful to hear (and see) the relationship you have with Ethan. God continues to bless your family and business and your viewers get the privilege to witness some of it.

    Loved your comment, "Turn right by the black cow." In England, we navigate by pubs: "Turn right at the Black Cow, go straight on by the Kings Arms and the place you want is a 100 yards past the Red Lion." Simple. Please accept my belated condolences for your dad's passing - very sad. Keep up the good work, I've been with you since a video which I think was called "Date Night". A date night which your wife spent in the passenger seat of your rollback!

    Chain the front first when loading and unchain the back first when unloading. The kid reminds me of myself 😂. The first week working on power lines I had to hand roll about 100 yards of old copper line. I was so ready to work that I started rolling the wire at the first end I came to, then I carried a really heavy roll of wire back to the truck.
    I did this a few times over the course of a month. One day my lineman looks at me and says, why don't you walk 100 yards to the other end of the wire and then start rolling it up, so when your done you're close to the truck? My mind was blown..😂

    Actually, Ron, I do enjoy watching something different. There are enough disaster vids out there,,, so it’s nice to see a MO sunset a dairy farm and some US cows, which amazingly enough, look very similar to English ones!,! Eli looks very competent and makes a good team member.. And that Trail Eze is one handy trailer. You are a great teacher.

    You are finally doing " Normal Stuff". I know you get all different kind of calls but to be able to help a local customer is good. The worst part of the setting sun in the fall is that even with decent sunglasses the blazing sun can make doing any task road related a difficult thing.
    I did not realize until this year that there are many different companies that made tractors. I bet Worldwide there maybe thousands of companies that make tractors and many other type of farm equipment.

    • @timothygeiger437
      @timothygeiger437 2 роки тому

      You didn't know that Case/IH made farm equipment?? It's a merger several years ago between Case farm equipment & International Harvester. They both started independently well over 70 years ago. There's several machinery manufacturers, some are defunct, but some of their equipment is still in use.
      With this particular tractor, one look at the hood gives it away😄
      It says MXM, but that's just a name Case/IH put on a series of tractors.
      Did you see the New Holland tractor when they were still at the dairy, it was easily recognizable. Years ago Ford merged with New Holland, that's why some still say Ford on them, rather than New Holland. Alot of mergers & acquisitions from very old companies.

    • @danrossell6375

      You'd be surprised how few there are with many subsidiaries. Just like the auto industry.

    • @RustyZipper
      @RustyZipper 2 роки тому

      More than you can imagine. New Holland actually doesn’t make their own tractors per se. They just slap their logos on them, different years of the same model can vary. Another useless fact is that there is one country that makes it nearly impossible to own any tractor other than the one made in their country, I think it’s Mahindra (the worlds best selling tractor)

    Great video Ron! Those trailers do come in handy for many applications. Have a question for you: why haven’t you installed a headache rack/cab guard on the truck yet?

    • @rcatyvr
      @rcatyvr 2 роки тому

      In may be his choice not to. In many jurisdictions a full sleeper cab is considered to be sufficient as a guard. If it is not mandated, it is an extra 3,000 lb. tare weight. Most styles will only stop light loads from perforating the driver and I've never seen one that will stop a greased 5 ton section of drill pipe once that gets moving at any speed over about 15 mph. I never drove sleeper so I always had a headache rack. That rack stopped a few 4x4s from ruining my day way back when.

    • @DaMisfitz
      @DaMisfitz 2 роки тому

      Ron cant install a headache rack, as his hydraulic tank is right there on the cat walk behind the sleeper. The hydraulic radiator is also installed on the back of the sleeper.

    When you were comparing the difference in maneuverability @26:42, the length of the trailers is not as important as the wheelbase. Your trailer wheels are several feet from the back of the trailer. The grain trailer wheels are close to the back of the trailer. The wheelbases are probably fairly close.

    Funnily enough, we were driving into Brisbane, Australia's, CBD just a couple nights ago and they were setting up to load a council bus onto a trailer very similar to this one. Very exciting! If weren't running "close to time", I'd have probably stopped and watch them loading it on. About 30 minutes later, we were sat at the pub, having dinner, and the bus on the trailer drove past.

    It was very MOOOving.. man i would hook up with that farmer. Everybody wants angus cattle.. no for my money i would take a Jersey any day.
    Smaller bone, Sweeter meat. yummy.. They are typically smaller animals. but that's ok.. That farmer is milking pure butter.. very high butter fat content in the milk. As a kid we milked jersey, very calm animals they were real pets at times. We milked 20 head by hand 2 times a day. then when we were done we would get in the international and go pick up can milk from the farmers for AMPI.. both of those we 7day a week jobs. started at 4:30 am ended at 7pm every night. Fun times. milking and throwing 80 lb cans I couldnt do it now but that is why you retire after 75. and in our spare time we firmed 80 acres. Good times.

    Thanks for all you do in training the younger ones like Eli and Ethan. I look forward to when you say God Bless You on your video's. And I say that back to you my friend, "God Bless You!" Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you, e is 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor],
    And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]; and He is and He will. 26 The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’ And He is and He will. This is for you and your family and all of your employees and customers too. God bless you my friend Ron.

    If you want an air horn that is the exact opposite of Wimpy, get a Mountain Air Horn...
    I don't think you'll be able to mount it to the top of the cab, you'll most likely need to mount it to the Frame Rails behind the Steer Axle since they START at 6 FEET long...
    You may also need a separate Air Tank to operate it without draining the Brake Tanks too low...
    BUT when you blow them, EVERYONE within a couple of MILES will hear you...
    PS: You might need Police Approval to use it within your County...those buggers are LOUD AS HADES!!!
    😄😁😆😅😂🤣

    Hearing Eli call you Ron brought back an old memory: my Dad worked a second job driving a catering truck. I heard the owner's son call my dad "John" and was both surprised and confused. Later, it made sense, but here we are, history repeating itself again.

    I would guess that Trail-Eze is easy to work with because they want to be helpful, figuring that will keep Midwest Truck doing business with them and help them to get other business in the trucking, and towing and recovery industries. I like that no matter who you are working with you are always teaching, sharing how you prefer to do things. Most people must learn a lot from you. Please never change in that regard please Ron. LOL, I like that you thanked the cows for the milk. I like it a lot. Glad to hear your humor coming back after the death of your father. Nice job of unloading even with some extra work things went very smooth loading and unloading. My New Years wish for Midwest Truck is for 95% or more of all jobs to go that smooth and safe Ron. Seasons Greatings to your Familly and every one at Midwest Truck.

    Beautiful farm, This video feels like home to me. So many years of farm activities, and broken machines, and everyone just coming together to get stuff done.

    Been a while and catching up on the adventures of tator. Sorry to hear about your dad. But glad to see you still teaching and passing your love for towing down. Eli sounds and looks like a responsible and properly brought up young gentleman, something you don't see know a days outside of small towns. Keep up the good work of mentoring the youth that come into your life. God bless.

    Great job Men! Grew up in a farming community and worked for a grain and cattle farmer . A lot of long hours and sleepless nights. Rainy days was repair days snowy days were plow days . Learned a lot growing up in the country.

      Yeah, but just like teachers Farmers get weekends, holidays and summers off. Fortunately the cows 🐄 know when to stop producing milk / manure for Christmas and such.

    What made that tractor to big for a roll back? Would it have been to top heavy or too difficult to get he CG right for a safe transport? I've seen full size trucks on them before like a F-350.

    I would just have let Eli roll the tractor off the trailer without any winching, and let gravity handle the unloading instead of using the backward winch manouver. Such a heavy machine would not roll far anyway and you would have saved a lot of time and rigging. Have a nice Christmas holiday.

    Couldn’t you have blocked the rear wheels & slid the trailer up instead of using the reverse winch line? Awesome Video as always Brother!
