I'm not mad at it. I think it's for a slightly different market - more of a scale truck than a high performance crawler. It's not a Power Wagon, and I very much appreciate that. It's unfortunate to see the same junky servo and underpowered motor, but let's be real - nobody buys an SCX24 and leaves it stock anyway! 😆 To me, this seems to be a decent addition to the SCX24 lineup, but I definitely want to see something new and more innovative very soon!
I’m amazed people still buy stock scx24s. By the time you replace all the junk that has to be replaced, you could just build ground up and have a better truck.
exactly the conclusion I have also come to!; however, i do wonder whether someone who is a noob would know what to buy and how to put it together without getting a stock truck as a template the first time or maybe start with the meus racing mb24 build kit.
@@huanhunglao I can see why the guy who has never had one would buy an rtr, but I don’t see why someone would buy it if they already have one or two. I bought a C10 then a Deadbolt. My C10 has the typical upgrades and a good chunk of it is still intact. My Deadbolt on the other hand, doesn’t have much stock besides the skid and maybe half a dozen screws! Probably should have just built it from the ground up. Not long ago there was a sale on the Deadbolt for $60 or so. I thought about it for that price, but it would either be another money pit or it would be something I could build out of my spare parts drawer.
Outside of the body, it's getting harder to recommend the sxc24 platform with everything else that's available these days, especially for $150, that's just too much for this platform anymore. Great vid though, my sons and I watch your stuff all the time, thank you!
@@Solatso yeah it really is. I think the Mai point is just its reputation (basicly starting the mini crawler scene) and, much more important, its huge aftermarket Support. If it wasnt for that, i think there would be alot less sales.
It is different, and one of the last bodies I would have thought of. I would really like to see a modern truck body (like a ford superduty, dodge ram 94-newer), a newer z71 chevy or gmc. Any truck newer than 1998
13:25 I didn't buy the fcx24m when it came out. I am surprised you like this one more. I only saw different reviews on the fcx so I am glad to know they are comparable. Also i was really hoping horizon had a deal going forward with proline to get their good tires on all releases like the power wagon!
I’m surprised he said that too. Especially when you look at reviews and they perform very well out of the box. And yes. The tires on these axial have always felt a little on the cheap side. A wheel and tire upgrade out of the box on axial is a must for sure.
Everyone upset about something. Don’t like it don’t buy it that simple. Want to tell them what to make email them, call them or even go work for them. They chose this because it’s a top choice for overlanders. It’s the same wheelbase as the jlu but the lower links are different. Also the hardbody is thinner and lighter then they first made. Molded front bumper side skits.
Personally, I think people would be better off just buying the body and building the rest of the vehicle from Injora parts. I'm guessing it's just the Deadbolt links, etc.
The electronics upgrades are the same from the last round of releases. I think Horizon is consolidating their parts family. It makes sense. Also the oil filled shocks to remain competitive with what's out there. Kinda nice actually. But what really blows me away, is the additional pair of LEDs! Like that must've cost them a bundle! Now if only they could include a pair of tail lights. I guess they had to leave some of the detailing to us hobbyists. Great video. 👍
I love it I’m doing the Jeep wave!! I would love to see them do a 89 to 98 Chevy body since they’re so popular. That’s a good looking truck though. I can’t wait to see what you do to it.
Thought I was the only one who was kind of pissed axial still hasn’t upgraded their cars like FMS did. I was shocked at the comments and kind of relieved at the same time 🤣
Man I live in Colorado and I know two guys that actually drive Lexus 470 and they have them lifted and huge tires Now to see this rc makes me wonder if this is a real thing that a lot of guys do that own this vehicle
I have been wanting to do a budget over landing scx24, but I never liked any of the body styles. But I love this one!!!!! But I’m not sure I like 4 runners more, so I’ll probably just get a fcx18 because they have the two speed trannies and switchable lights.
Love the look but can’t justify buying a full RTR just to gut it and keep the body. I liked the Power Wagon too but didn’t buy one for the same reason, they won’t let you have one without all the junk.
My dad has a Gx470 rig in real life we go off-roading in it a lot! Love this video man I wish I could have the SCX24 Rc gx470… I don’t have any RC’s to play with at home. Do you think you could give me it pls and thank you sir!😭🙏
Question please. So day one I want this with a furitek esc/BLM combo, cause telemetry via phone app. Am I going to have to buy the furitek Tx/Rx system too. Or can I use the stock Rx-esc and just not use esc? Is there an rx output to a different esc? Or is it closed system? This would be deal breaker and I’ll buy a Cayman P V.2. Thank you in advance
I want to replicate the 128mm wheelbase. Does anyone know if they made a new link length or what the combination of links axial is running on the Lexus? Thank you Mr. Cape Crawler
Looks good but I'm going to wait for the v2 , maybe they will stop pushing the crappy electronics everyone in the competition is already 5 steps ahead, , maybe I'll buy just the body to slap on a fms
A new SCX24 is always welcome, but a Lexus SUV doesn't make sense when there are so many other pickup trucks and SUVs that could have been represented and would have been more popular.

The worm gear and aftermarket support are all that keeps these relevant
Now we know why the deadbolt was on sale for $60 bucks last month
They just slapped a new body and tires and wheels and now it’s 150+ bucks
100% smartest comment I’ve heard yet. Horizonhobby at their best!
Not gonna lie, not really into the 24's as much, but as a fan of this actual Lexus that I'm a fan of, this things looks absolutely amazing.

What are some of those other platforms ?
Fcx24, fcx18, ascent18, trx4m
Nice, but it should've been 4 Runner. First, second, or third gen would be nice.
Ohh yeah A hilux surf 3rd gen
I agree 3rd gen
GX470s are totally capable I real life. FMS hit it out of the park with the LC80. True though, old Yotas aren’t getting as much love.

Definitely getting this one. It’s wild that Axial was able to fit those tires and get no tire rub.
Killing the new guy here. Dang it. Now i want one. My Jeep is about Done. I need another Toy to play with. LOL addicted.

It's bigger than the FCX so it has an advantage I feel (bigger tires anyway). It felt much less tippy also.

Nice!! A good choice for them. Different. Everyone has a Jeep. Who would have thought a Lexus!
"Did you get that jeep wave?" He sure did, little buddy.
Looks like an old Jimny from MST before :))

So, would you recommend this one over the new fcx 24m from FMS?
I mean just purely based on stock performance/crawling capability?
You should do a budget build on it
Definitely a HUGE bummer it’s not the new GX550.
Not my cup of tea but i always like it if companies try out new things.
And then boom, axial releases a scx18 which is a smaller version of their scx10.3’s. And will have a dig function 👍🏻😂. (I wish!)
What would you say is the best handling scx24 with no mods?
Can you please review the new Ktech rc monster axels when they come out?
You should do a 1000 dollar vs 100 dollar upgrade change
Cool 😊
This thing needs the LGRP Fifteen52 Traverse Wheels!!!!!
some rose gold LGRP's would be sweet

I find this one a little weird. Who’s been asking for a Lexus 1/24 crawler?
Maybe no one but it's great, it's not another Jeep as well as the Lexus is very known for over landing.
Probably more than were asking for the new Hummer EV from FMS. Like the other reply said, the Lexus GX series are well-known as capable off-roaders.
FACTS. I think there's more people asking for a FCX10 LC80 that people who actually buy the EV.@@zacharyjacobs7233

Is it all the same other than the body? If yes, not interested.
Yep! Pass
the only upside is that it has a shorter wheelbase. i agree, pretty stupid.
Slightly shorter wheelbase and different electronics layout. Otherwise its the same

Are the wheels aluminum or plastic
Plastic
What have they done 😔 Shrinkflation
Those few mm taken off the wheelbase ruined the dimensions on the GX470. It has that slightly smooshed look.
Very squished looking

It looks pretty cool. I just can't get past the comically huge wheels and tires... It makes it look cartoonish...
Are the wheels plastic?
yes, with glued on tires
@@CapeCrawlers Unfortunate
Come on bro plastic
Tires/wheels way too big for a nice scale look.
except it's not IFS, so DOA for me just like any of this mini crawler Broncos - none of them are remotely close to actually being scale.
The MT tires make it look horrible.
