Technically speaking it’s a Toyota Prado 120, but 4Runners and FJ are cousins and share some parts. I’m so stoked for this! This will be my first scx24!!
@@scalebuildersguild sort of? I think the GX470 and Prado share more DNA. The 4Runner today is its own beast I think. Kinda like the Tacoma is sort of a Hilux. At least that's my understanding of it. I could be wrong, I'm actually a dummy in real life.
Im actually surprised they offered this to us. Love it! Im so glad to have something other than jeeps, and squarebodies even thkugh i love them we are a bit saturated on them lol
They finally moved the battery up front!! It's still up higher than I like to put mine, but at least they're finally wising up and moving that weight forward.
This is absolutely awesome! As a kid who grew up around nothing but Toyotas, this is amazing to see. I do not have anything smaller than 10th scale vehicles in my fleet but this really makes me consider taking the plunge into small scale crawlers. I think we are all excited to see what this license will bring us in the tenth scale side of the hobby. Cheers SBG!
I can't believe my eyes... Something other that a Jeep, Chevy, Toyota, Land Rover...??! 😮 Congratulations Axial! 🎉👏👏👏 Don't stop, try other scales and other car makes! 🙏😁 Thanks for the review Matt!
I was never into the small scale until recently. I had never done rock crawling before so I picked up two assent 18s . Last week I bought the axial C10. I like them cuz you don't need a lot of space
I enjoy my 1/10 scale crawlers outdoors but I have more fun with my 1/24 scale SCX24 crawlers indoors. I’ve built a large modular portable crawling course. The modules can be switched and interchanged. It’s great fun and I can add course sections anytime I want. They hang on the wall for storage. I have varying difficulty throughout the course so some stock rigs won’t make certain lines. But there’s always an alternate challenging line that they can make. I have the Lexus on order! Can’t wait to add it to my collection.
OMG… I OWN silver 2008 GX 470! This is awesome! If they put this body on an SCX6 I’ll take that as the sign I’ve been waiting for to spend the money. :).
Yup, though I haven't put a battery in any of my rigs in months, this one appeals to me... I may just have to ask the great pumpkin to leave one in the patch...
I just bought one of these as my first crawler. It's is a blast. Yeah, it's a little top heavy, but i enjoy the challenge it creates. Also, way to call out the wittle wadders. Clearly you're informed 😂
23 4Runner is my DD,wife’s is a 22 GX460.Toyota owner since 1985! Guess I’m a FB! I buy anything Toyota ,Lexus related, definitely getting this, but have checkout the black and white version’s with the brass colored wheels!
My most used rig is an scx24 with hard body crawler company fj40 body . Its took many upgrades to make it perform well with the weight of the tall hard body but its ok . 👍 Although its more 18th scale now .
I have a SCX24 gladiator, but I'd love to see more Toyota as well! They should do a classic line, the old school 80 series Land Cruiser, and I'd love to see an FJ40!
Nice review. The body really is great, but the wheels and tires give it that Stomper vibe. I'd like to see it on some early .9" Axial wheels, or even .7s.
Had multiple scx's but paired it back to just my B17 big Betty NIB and an original deadbolt. If they were to do a GMC K2500 in the 'Fall Guy' colours I'd buy it immediately 😍
Yeap I'll be grabbing one of these when its made available in Oz, although I will be making small changes so its a Prado as opposed to the Lexus badging! Woo Hoo!
I've got a couple scx24, and fcx24/18 Ive built a 20x7 scale crawler course in my basement for winter. And they're great to toss in a backpack for a camping trip or hike!
Just in time for the IR60 in 1/24 from Injora. I skipped the last round of Axials. Might have to on this one. It also tells me that I think we'll see the new Land Cruiser coming too.
I have 2, an old c10 and the gladiator (jeep i got off a friend cheap to turn into something else at some point). This will be first scx24 I'll actually buy. Fit perfect with my FMS scaler toyotas. Pretty excited for these, not sure what color I want yet.
Still want a 3rd Gen 4Runner, I have the pro line 2nd Gen body I've been painting to match my 2002 but would love an actual 3rd Gen. I have 2 1/24 one for me and one for the wife because it's the only thing other then my lunchbox she's willing to drive because there slow, haha Plus New England weather means not many winter outdoor stuff, so drifting and carpet racing, or indoor 1/24 stuff to get the rc fix while it's all cold and wet outside!
Cool looking Lexus 4x4 and I get it when a certain crawler calls out to you.Just that there are so many options with more features at a better price nowadays.Im still liking the small scale crawlers along side my 1/10.They both have their uses and entertainment for me. Great vid and crawl with this one.👍🏼👊
Great video as always!!! im not ino to small stuff, but rhe guys who are really are into them, doesnt mean i dont have a couple on the shelf looking awesome, but yes rhat one looks great!!! Thanks!!!
@scalebuildersguild Thank you Thank you Mr Matt 🙏 sorry I couldn't stay awake to watch all of the livestreem last night. Treatments are kicking my rear end. God bless and keep wheeling 🙏
That is a good lookin truck. I started with micro crawlers and only have one SCX24. I think as a readily accessible and highly upgradable platform it is a good truck. That being said though, I feel mildly indifferent toward my C10. I think I need to upgrade the electronics because it's kind of a dog on the rocks.
Waw! It looks great. The bronco was nice but the gigantic gap between body and bumper was a no-go for me. This is definitely the one release that could lead me away from the mini-z. That body looks nice, tucked behind this bumper... and with oil shock as standard.
Do yourself a favor and get the ascent18. It don’t look as good out of the box but it’s 10 times the truck. This is a shiny new body on top of the same piece of garbage.
So, it comes down to performance versus scale looks. Never mind this is a 1/24 scale, from a performance perspective the Ascent 18 IMHO is going to out perform this, especially as a rock crawler. It has portal axles for great clearance and is easily the quietest rig I have. I am continually amazed at the performance of my Ascent 18. The other difference is actual crawler versus more of a trail rig with some crawling abilities. The most important thing is the fun factor. Go with what you want and just have fun.
@@stuartoakley4784 yeah even though I think this body looks terrible with its dark tinted windshield and odd looking tires it is still more scale than the ascent for sure. I put the Injora ir60 on my ascent and now it’s way better looking than this thing lol. And it runs great!
I’m probably on my own but the 24th scale stuff just seems silly to me. My opinion but I’m sure those into it that scale probably enjoy them and that’s what the hobby is about.
It's refreshing to see something other than the typical Jeeps and C10s. I have more 1/24 crawlers than 1/10. Not gonna get this new release though. I'd love to see some 1/10 Toyota hardbodies from Axial. Or any hardbodies for that matter.

This one looks really cool. I do like the “non-Jeep” body, just because there are other cool off roaders out there that aren’t Jeeps. I have a TRX-4m Bronco and it’s great fun for $150 USD. However, unless you’re running on a prepared small scale crawler course, it meets it match pretty quick. I don’t know why Axial and Kyosho went 1/24 with theirs and not 1/18. Maybe to be different? And NOT have parts interchangeability?
Need more offbeat bodies like this, variety is the spice of life after all
Technically speaking it’s a Toyota Prado 120, but 4Runners and FJ are cousins and share some parts. I’m so stoked for this! This will be my first scx24!!
Same chassis same wheelbase different bodies.

Something other than a Jeep is a win! Would love to see a hardbody COE Unimog from either Axial or Traxxas, next!
Yesss! FINALLY a non-J40PowerJeepDefender Wagon!
I would love to see a 1/10 scale version of this. Beautiful!
GX470 is a Land Cruiser Prado
Which is a 4Runner in North America.

@@scalebuildersguild either way Axial is getting my hobby bucks for this thing. Another to add to my Toyota collection!
@@WigglesTTH Yeah you're right the Prado and 4runner aren't really one in the same. Many differences between the two (overall size, powertrain, etc)
I don't think we have anything like the 4Runner in Europe. And the Land Cruiser Prado (120 series) is not the 4Runner in the US. It's the Lexus GX470.
I wish they would scale up the bodies so the trucks aren't running 40s but it'll be a cool rig to display.
Wheels will still look largish but some of rc4wds smaller tires will solve that issue. Somewhat.
Id like to see axial offer this in 10th scale
Im actually surprised they offered this to us. Love it! Im so glad to have something other than jeeps, and squarebodies even thkugh i love them we are a bit saturated on them lol

I don’t think the battery location changed, but I’ve been wrong before!
Made no change, the weight bias is still the same
