Hello! My son and I have been following the restoration on your Cadillac. Very impressed with your determination and tremendous effort involved in this project. Is an expensive labor of love but both my son and I share your passion and love this car. We are anxious to see the rebuilt engine installed as I know you are. Your mechanic has really taken his sweet time. That would really upset me unless the cost was less than what most shops would charge for rebuilding a classic Cadillac V8. I hope your getting a good deal on that. Keep up the Good work!
@ 3:59 you should've tried a hot air gun it would've made the old rubber more pliable. Great project & nice to see someone doing something like this on a realistic budget/time frame. Greetings from the UK.
Hello Ben. Have just stumbled across your posts and am loving catching up. Have a 1956 sed deville that I purchased 18 months ago. Am learning heaps from your efforts before me - so thank you very much for that. In the process at the moment of attempting to adjust the windows so they line up tight and neat when they are up. Trial and error mostly. Get the back one neat and the front door wont shut etc. Anyway - keep up the fun and informative vids on your efforts. Phil (Melbourne Australia)
Nice job looking good, i do suggest that if u plan to keep it there and not take it off never again to apply some weatherstripping adhesive under it and then install it or u might still get water leaks, ask me how i know lol
Cool music in the background, I do the same thing as well. weatherstripping for my T-bird is like that too. I thought $400 for a piece of rubber! But wait until you drive it. Super quiet and luxurious like it once was!
Hey Ben, like mossback said about the cost. I was at a conference and one of the guys that runs one of the supply places I got my parts for my 1930 chevy truck said, that the reason the parts are so expensive was the limited number of people who needed that part. If there were 1000 people that needed the part it would be less expensive because they would get their costs back. It doesn't seem right but that's the way it is in the rare car game. Keep up the good work!
Very true. In my opinion, a 1956 Sedan DeVille was not a rare car in its day, but now it is rare to see one at all because lots have been taken apart to fix coupe devilles and convertibles. Sad really seeing this is like the best looking four door cadillac ever produced!
glad you got it from Steele Rubber Products , sorry to hear it was so expensive , I made a mistake of buying my weather stripping for my 80 Cadillac Fleetwood from JC Whitney and it didn't fit , sent it back and they sent me the same thing all over again , so I ended up using a lot of silicone and made a mess out of it all . didn't even bother with it anymore I was so mad about it.
This is partly the reason I'm selling my 62 Caddy. Parts are available but uncommon enough where some are rediculously priced. Enjoying the videos as usual!
I paid $500 for a total rubber kit for a 1967 Deville Convertible. Included doors, trunk, A pillar, B pillar, and total roof rail, which was 5 pieces including roof rail. From Steele Rubber. It was almost 20 years ago. But their products are superior!! The car was 98% water-tight.....but after all it was a convertible, which is worse than a hardtop. The top needed to be adjusted (professionally)
i will never complain about the cost of parts on my vette again, even with shipping and UK taxes they are still a fraction of the price, The Caddys looks a lot easier to fit though.
Oh absolutely, they didn't do aerodynamics to make it quiet, they loaded it up with weatherstripping and sound deadener, I read online the T-birds like mine and Mark iii Continentals left the factory with over 100 pounds of sound deadening! Who cares about weight, gas will always be cheap!
I don't understand how someone who 'can't afford ' to fix this Caddy right can afford to drop money into a motor, etc, but not be able to give it even a cheapo paint job. Right, and I forgot you have a few Vettes too.
It's great that you can find these classics , but just stop it with the 'poor boy' bit. You're in your twenties and you have the money to buy and do what you do to these cars? Sounds more like 'poor little rich boy'.
1. This video was shot about 2 years ago. 2. Money made from one car goes into the next one. It's not like I'm asking for money from anyone. I make it all myself and spend it as I see fit.
Just stop[ it with all the crap about the money you don't have to fix this or that. Fantastic neighborhood, tons of tools, lifts and whatnot. How many Corvettes? I don't care what you have or what you do with it, just tell it like it is.

You rock my friend. Keep moving along. Great work!

Looking great, great music also...

its a shame about the price but at least you will be able to preserve this beautiful old car more efficiently now
The $7000 you saved on the paint job helps pay for the absolute necessities like weather stripping and college.
Nice job... and that t-shirt. Pretty snazzy!
watching you fit these has really been informative. I have a 1958 Edsel I'm restoring so all of this is valuable info

I was told that was the reason that upper end cars like this had so much weather stripping and sound deadener in the floors, to make it super quiet

Love your videos! Very informative usefully info for when I restore my cadillac.

I have been just buying them a part at a time, so the initial hit isnt as much
You are correct on why they can charge that much money.. love that car
Nice job man!!
Thanks!
So you pay big bucks for weatherstripping and put it on over rust?
hope shes moving well done m8 she looks new already
Thank you for the informative video!

There’s a company here in my state that would have made you a roll of weatherstripping for 50 bucks
I saw 1700 dollar kit ! WTH... I am looking for a coupe, but it's probably the same !
Where are the dogs?

Cost less than $150 for all those parts. Look em up. Caddy paint is $10k.
10k for paint? Oh good grief.
That is what shops have quoted me.
+TheCorvetteBen you can paint in europe for 2-3k and ship it back forward for 3 k thats 6k :D 4 grand in pocket :D
TheCorvetteBen people like her just do not know when to stop! Lol

Where do you get poor boy?? Of you don't like the videos then don't watch em
You keep saying you just don't have the money for this or that, but keep buying cars and posting videos of your Corvettes.
