There was a book called "Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers" that was published back in the '70s. It was based on the natural presentation of nightcrawlers and how to find fish by locating structure. Their ideal presentation was a nightcrawler hooked ONCE through the nose with no sinker, float, or anything but a #6 or #4 aberdeen hook. For me, it has been more successful than any other method. Oh, and if you call the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and ask them the best lakes for Bowfin, they first ask you if you are really serious.😀
Sometimes nightcrawlers catch fish better than artificial lures
That’s a fact brother
Only if you don't know how to use the artificial ones correctly
@@440-fishermandrock8 Yeah, I used to think that way...40 years ago. Go look up a copy of the book I mentioned above and see if you still feel the same way after reading it. Those guys who wrote it were highly technical and perfectionists. I think it would expand your horizons if you felt up to the challenge. Excerpts of the book can be found for free online.
@@MichaelJones-rn2pq what book? Can you link it?
amazing. nightcrawlers are probably the #1 best bait. one of my friends caught a decent sized bowfin
We have them everywher herevin vermont. They are beast and excellent fighters
@@fishingmaster99 the bowfin that my friend caught was about22 inches
@@fishon225 my biggest was 9lbs record is 14.8lbs
Congrats on the bow! Gotta love that new species feel. Thanks for reminding me why you’re still one of my favorites.👍
I always get so happy when you make a new video
Also there are not many good fishing UA-camrs but you are a good one
And fishing is my favorite sport
Was looking forward to a new video. Love the intro "landing" and the way you petted the smallie. Cute.
Brendan you were born to make these videos! So creative and a neat idea - fishing only with night crawlers. I've never caught or seen a bowfin fish in person? Keep up the good work and God bless!
I’d like to use mine on a drop shot rig I can catch smallmouth largemouth small fish maybe Trail maybe bluegill sunfish pumpkin seeds everything
Finally something good to watch good quality content here
I love catching Bowfin, they are very fun to catch
Beware
I love making UA-cam videos and am just starting out and love to watch your videos!! Great video!!
Those bowfin look cool being so pale from the stained water. My local lake has a good population of them and it’s got usually 3-6ft visibility depending on the time of year so the bowfin have awesome patterns and even turn blue/green on the fins during the spawn
Really enjoy your videos, would love to have a fishing friend like you. Well played , landing those fish from a bridge. And just because people fish a spot, doesn't mean they fish it good, love lacing fish out , when no one else is
Man I love catching bowfin! They're pretty much like dinosaurs, and they've got those sharp teeth like you were saying. Once reeled in an 8 pound bowfin, definitely put up a big fight!
And there the only fish in there genus no family I'm guessing there evolved further than other fish considering there air bladders serves as lung can't remember the scientific name but yeah there my favorite fish and the only fish I catch watching from shadows at my feet when I'm at river there pretty unique and unerappreciated
I’d have to say the same bro. Bowfin have to be the hardest fighting freshwater fish. Everyone one I caught fought till the moment I put em back in the water.
Great job Brendan! Really entertaining and congratulations! You have a great personality.
Good old worms. About the only thing I ever used as a kid. Worms caught me everything. Great fishing spot at the bridge. Liked the video. Wish you would put out more content.
Brendon I think you are most underrated UA-cam fisherman. You have great ideas and are very unique wish you put out more videos. Tight lines my dude
I like the google earth drone footage lol
The google earth edit was really cool, nice job!!
Ive been to that bowfin spot if you through chubs in the mouth of the side creek in the fall when the water is up you can catch some nice pike
Thanks for another great video. I always enjoy that you have normal reactions to mistakes, such as losing a fish by trying to lift it up. I've been there many times, lol.
That huge splash at 0:49 right behind his left shoulder
Cool looking fish !!!
Wow i never seen a bow fin great show .
My son and I fish at that spot from time to time. So cool seeing you fish there
Also, those are smaller bowfin. Up in Michigan they get way bigger than that.
Out of all the fishing UA-camrs there are you continue to be my favorite
Beware
I can appreciate it but I’ve never gone back to bait n wait. congrats!
I usually use Crappie Nibbles over worms since they’re cleaner and won’t die on you. But worms sure have their days.
I love catching bowfin. I don't target them specifically, but where I find catfish, I find them.
Meal worms are killer worm too I caught a bunch of blue gill and bass on them. I recently caught a bass on a meal worm with a size 12 hook.
I just watched your video from 2 years ago and you're wearing the same shirt! 🤯
I know that feeling bro I got one at the Atwood lake spillway
Nothing better than worms!
I love using nightcrawlers tbh 😅😊👍
Hey try putting your pointer finger in the way of the line above your bale so it hits your finger as you reel it is a trick I learned from watching some one teaching how to use the trout magnet jigs give it a try works for me I even use that technique with Texas rigged senkos and it slays pike and smallies
Bowfin are amazing fish that fight soooo hard.
Has anyone told you, that you kind of look like the lead singer from Lincoln Park… “Nothing Else Matters,” but fishing!!!
Do this more plzzzzzz bottom fishing is so fun
The best ordinary fisherman, calms me
Night crawlers are the best bait in the world
Nightcrawlers are a wonderful bait!
Dude this was a great video idea
Cool intro
great video B
Real nice video again, keep it up....love from Holland! 🙃
Great vid! Loved watching it!
Catch & cook with bowfin man!!! Do it!! Great work been missing yer stuff
Hands down best bait
I have to let you know that you have a lot of fans in Denmark
Keep the videos coming!! Good numbers of bowfins.
Beware
Love all your videos man!
Cool man we don’t have many of any here in Kentucky. I have never caught one in 45 years anyways.
Night crawlers are the best land crawling bait besides minnows and small baitfish!
I catch a lot of Bowfins on rooster tail inline spinners dead lakes wewahitchka FL they are a fun fight but those damn teeth lol
Great video ++
The goat has retuned
I like to see you go back to the spot where you caught the bowfin and fish under the bridge
👍
I enjoy your videos so much
How would you ever fail with nightcrawlers
Bowfin and snakeheads looks very similar.
You are right, and the problem is that a lot of bowfin get killed because of mistaken identity. Bowfin are native fish and Snakeheads are an invasive species that should NEVER be returned to the water.
Do you have link to the micro fishing line. Great video, please keep it up bro.
this was a great vide0 and i would like to see you go for gar next time
How is a bowfin on ur bucket list where I live bowfin are a trash fish
I use a perch rig with beads and spinners .
Awesome job
what are your favorite fishing knots and why?
Its so strange how it works someone's most desired species are often killed my ignorant anglers where I live.
Great video
Keep up the good work
Worms are top bait... Natural
🔥 vid brotha.
Nightcrawlers will catch everything that swims in the water.
I keep a bag of wet wipes in my fishing bag just in case I need to wash my hands
I caught a bowfin on a rooster tail near the great lakes
😂
Nice vid. The bowfin looks a lot like a snakehead.
They look very similar!!!
Beware of scammers on fishing videos here lately...
@@barrygolden9823 yeah I’ve seen and have gotten those scam reply’s on my comments lately. I ain’t falling for it lol.
Only if you're not familiar with both otherwise they look completely different
How did you get the underwater catfish footage?
Hey what editing software do you use? I want to start a UA-cam channel but don’t know where to start. Thanks!
make a mtb slam
Nice catfish
What kind of rod you using for UL combo?
Nice
You should team up with 618fishing sometime he is awesome
All. Heads up on the scam in the comments. Realistic Fishing has the same issue. The message looks like it's coming from Brendan, the one with the #s.
That's a creek actually
Hi
Make more survival vids and pet peeves
It dusent look like a pike to me it looks like a eel and a gar cus the tail
You never know what you will bring in when you fish with nightcrawlers
night crawlers always go either great or okay depending on how many different species are in the water because i can rig for bass but then every single sunfish chooses to nip at my worm and im left with barely anything, or i cast near a big catfish or whatever and that gets to it first
Bro. The bowfin DOGFISH is fucking a fight for damn sure. Ive caught what, 15? Maybe three as an adult! They are MONSTERS! i wonder if they taaaaste? You tried carp, might as well try a prehistoric catch!!!
Whenever I thought I had a bass - bass have fight, but dogfish have WEIGHT AND FLOP! Its insanity. These fuckers are muscle!
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
How is fishing with nightcrawlers a challenge?? That’s the easiest way to fish there us
Just giving all your spirs away
I know it's not my business but I don't believe that you killed that carp like u should
Just checking too see if there are still scammers on this channel - let my comment show please!
I’m creating a paper trail on every channel that they are on.

I’m early for once!
Just throw out a spinnerbait if you want to catch bowfin, so many of them here in Central Wisconsin. Honestly surprised there isn't a kill order on them
Never caught a dogfish before?
