I did the exact same thing with the banjo minnow when I was a kid. The commercials of the guys catching all these big bass made me buy the banjo minnow.
I just found a pack of these in my old tackle box, I was like what the heck is this thing and then I hopped on UA-cam and now I'm watching your video. Awesome content. Hopefully I'll slay some fish with this thing.
When I was a young teenager, an older friend showed me what he called a "Mepps Minnow" Just about the only lures he owned and used. I watched him catch a lot of fish with it, I think it was a silver #2 blade. Now, several decades later, The Mepps Comet Minnow is one of my most favorite lures and I have several in each size and color. It's my "universal bait". I will say though that many lures are made to catch fishermen, not fish. I mean, how many colors does one really need. I just try to think about the natural forage and what colors they are and I just try to "match the hatch" so to speak. Thanks a bunch Brendan!
It's basically a flutter spoon with a thicker piece of metal used for the spoon. I use flutter spoons for american shad fishing. Like a flutter spoon, because of the upward swoop on the spoon, it rises to the surface as you real it in. When fishing with flutter spoons, since they weigh almost nothing, you either add some split shot about 15 inches up the line or tie it to the end of a carolina rig when fishing deep or fast moving water. This lure had potential and I still have a few that I catch fish on. How can we base how good a lure is off of a few fishing trips? How many times have you gone out fishing and gotten skunked while using lures/baits that absolutely worked for you in the past. If the fish aren't there, they aren't hungry, or they are stressed out , they just won't bite. Have you ever sight casted to a fish and watch them swim off as you get your lure closer to them? There are way too many variables to think about. Honestly, some decent lures were killed because of the cheesy gimmicky marketing they used. If companies let independent field testing do the talking instead of throwing a product out on the market that insists upon itself, the market life of that product wouldn't be so short lived.
I had the same exact experience with that lure. It looks so good. It's like a pre-chatter-bait design. I can catch fish with just the plastic fish part but not with the blade and plastic. I don't have patience trying to reel it in so slow. I ld rather throw a spinner bait.
I've actually caught loads of fish on this. I laughed at my brother in law when he bought one based on the infomercial. He proceeded to catch nothing with it...then get frustrated and threw it into the heaviest slop he could find and reel it in quick. Caught a fish. And again. Fish it topwater, fish it fast...like you almost have to start reeling before it hits the water. You'll miss often, but get huge reaction strikes
I found one of these left behind at a fishing spot I have been going to for years. I've only caught 1 fish on it in the eight years or so that I have had it lol
I had the same problems with these things!!! Like on all sizes!!! even the little 1/16.oz I got so frustrated with the damn spoon that I replaced the dank spoons with mepps spoons, I used the 1-1/2 1/8 oz. with a #6 and #3 inline hooks and the 2" 1/4oz. with size #1/0 and #3/0 worked great!
Actually, I've found the Berkley Blade Dancer to be an excellent lure, and I was sad to see it go. Needless to say, I still have several. Part of your problem may be that "after factory" clip you have on the front of the bait. The original came with an O split ring. Now, I did have a problem with the "weedless" version in that the weed guard would break off after you caught two fish with it. My biggest fish with this lure was a 5 lb. largie. I did lose one Blade Dancer when a sow of a bass broke me off, and I was using 20 lb. copolymer. Phenomenal!
@:14, you got that right! Gander Outdoors sucks for what we shopped for at Gander Mountain. RIP Gander Mountain 😢 Just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. 👍
The blade dancer is great for top water instead of the fish put on a 7in worm with a twisty tail it looks just like a snake in the water I used to catch tanks on top water with these never really worked well in open water
There used to be an ad on the shopping channel in the late 80s early 90s called the flying lure spinner bait it was meant to be the best lure ever made see if you can find one to review 😎👍
yea sum lures r really meant to catch the fishermen more than the fish. But anothr thing ppl dont know is most lures have a time & a place when they work best. Sum even have have specific species.. Ive seen ppl throwing topwater lures in november, January, February & then say the lures all hype bcuz they didnt catch anything on it..
As a kid I hated floating lures because “fish are near the bottom of the water, not on top...” now I have my best successes with floating popper, frog and mouse lures. Man can we be dumb as kids... 🤪🤪🤪
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
No matter how my day is going.. this guy right here,.. he always cheers me up.
true
I agree! Entertaining for sure yet skilled!!
amen
Lmao that old commercial was so accurate
Lol right
I did the exact same thing with the banjo minnow when I was a kid.

It’s a good day when you upload ❤️
Wow 20 seconds. Never been this early. Gonna watch it right now. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
We all have those childhood lures that was there to scam us and ended up be a blast... mine was the banjo minnow.
When I was young I was obsessed with the flying lure and the banjo minnow one day off first came out. Lol
The "ad" was so good I actually laughed out loud at the end bit with the fast talking

Dude I’ve been binge watching your videos after I found them in August your a beast bro
Really enjoyed this episode. Thank you for sharing. Do think you might try using a different soft plastic? Maybe something slightly bigger?
It was the banjo minnows when I was young had to have them, but at least I did catch some fish with them
The pre runner to the chatter bait .
Wow I've used this lure before and caught big bass!
You save me a lot of frustrations 😅 I found this in my stuff and was wondering if it would worth the try 😅😅😅
Yer dad was right on that’s an apt observation
@:14, you got that right! Gander Outdoors sucks for what we shopped for at Gander Mountain. RIP Gander Mountain 😢
Just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. 👍
You crazy man. Keep 'em coming. Quality.
Can we please get a rod and reel arsenal!!!
True. RIP GANDER MTN!!!!!

The blade dancer is great for top water instead of the fish put on a 7in worm with a twisty tail it looks just like a snake in the water I used to catch tanks on top water with these never really worked well in open water

That commercial!!!😆😆😆
Good stuff👍
I’m a fan of this series
I agree with that other comment - show us your fishing arsenal !!
Sick vid bro I’m a big fan👍
I've got some of those in my tackle bag haha so crazy to see you do this bait.
I bought the marketing hype too. Still have them in the box, pretty much unused
I think they'd make some awesome jewelry.
I caught alot of bass on the blade dancer as a kid. I had the perch color
I still have a perch and a black one, never caught anything with them. They are now in my retired tackle box. 😅
My ammo cabinet smelly funky for years. During a reorganizing I found an unsealed pack of Berkley Powerbait Liver Catfish Bait. Problem solved!
I had some of those - never caught a single thing on them
Heh, make me feel old. 2007 was just last week.
Lol I did the same thing for the Berkeley Juke with no luck.
Yessir
Love the shirt. I shop at Old Navy as well
Like when I was suckered into buying the "Flying Lure" in the early 90s.
There used to be an ad on the shopping channel in the late 80s early 90s called the flying lure spinner bait it was meant to be the best lure ever made see if you can find one to review 😎👍

That’s looks like a good lure wish I could have it but I don’t which sucks but that’s ok 👍 your videos are great!
Actually got a 800g perch on the black version
well I found this in an old tacklebox I bought, I thought it was just a weird combination someone made XD
Hey Brendan! Been a long term subscriber, I wanna see a video with all your tackle!
Gotta ask: you gonna try the Floating Pikachu jitterbug bait? Can get it at Tackle Warehouse.
Nice
As a kid I hated floating lures because “fish are near the bottom of the water, not on top...”
now I have my best successes with floating popper, frog and mouse lures. Man can we be dumb as kids... 🤪🤪🤪

Good video bro keep it up👏
RIP Gander Mountain.
Sputterbuzz lures are interesting
Try to straighten out the bend a little and see if that lets you fish it quicker.
I wish you would do more bass fishing videos and a little less lure reviews, great reviews tho
Hiiii I love your vids
gave Berkley a free promo 🤣
Love your videos. I started a channel to called. Everything a Change
What about the "flying lure?"
Just $1800 ...... I'll take 2 lol
YESNEWVID
More Fish Fight!
So were u frustrated with the lure😂😂
A smaller hook that hides better and that would be extremely deadly
How many times he has said frustrating
👇
My dad is obsseded with them
