I can agree that Oscar definitely knows now, but he didn't back in the 60's. Triple-doubles weren't a big deal until Magic showed up and when Jordan ran the point and averaged a trip-dub in the 1990 season.
I tried not to imply he knew back then, but I think i said hes been know as Mr triple double for the past decade. And regardless of T/D's he was really in in for himself back in his playing day.. tried to walk a presumptuous thin line there.. btw, like the MJ triple double reference!!
Usually you're good TNS, but you done fucked up here.
1) He's only ever been called The Big O - that's what people knew him as. Nobody called him "Mr Triple Double" while you stated in the video that he was called that "for over twenty years".
2) LOOK means "ahem you're not seeing what I have seen from my POV" - that's all. It's not derisive unless you start bringing emotion(s) to it. It's one little word used in common vernacular, and not a trigger for daddy issues.
3) going off into "Trump-style lies" and 'beat this old punk up' was totally uncalled for, disrespectful, and an absurd reach on your part.
4) If Big O wasn't a "winning team player" - well, then what the hell is Russ? A BETTER "non-team playing loser"?

Right? I've been brewing, right below the surface.
I knew that once folks found the channel I wanted to have a bunch of stuff there, like a YT heavyweight. So folks wouldn't have to hang around to see where Im going, or how the videos developed, but to know exactly what this is from day one, (for most)

Small note, I'm not sure if it's just me, but the background music was a little loud during parts of the interview.

Though I do like to at times boarder line drown myself out, especially if what I'm saying is not hat important, or just emotion, or yelling. In THIS case, the interview portions had music stuck to it.. from "The Jump" so I couldn't do much about that.
I completely understand that. I could hear most of what you said, just every 15th word was lost. It was just a minor inconvienance. The rest of the audio was fine. I was using my laptop speakers, and it could be that. The rest of the editing was, as always, wonderful. The cuts were good, and although I can tell you are using some sort of script/outline, your lines come off as genuine and real.
that fact that you say I sound natural is a BIG deal to me... It's almost entirely scripted.. but the script is basically me recoding my stream of consciences.. And then cleaning it up, writing it out and then recording. Also, I make sure to try and leave in my natural speaking ticks.. Like, yeah, ok, so..even my breathing and sighs. - the stops and starts on sentences.. the stuff people always do when their talking, but for some reason cut out when writing. So thank you again
THE NBA STORYTELLER the fact that your videos sound natural and flow organically is a major strength of your channel. it sounds like a good college lecture. informative, funny, memorable and engaging, while not seeming to be read directly from a page.

What a great (albeit manipulative) soundtrack to this video. I see Big O as a Lord of the Rings goblin trying to stitch together a sentence before he is found out! I think you should commission a sculpture/ plaque / drawing / whatever and send it to the person who gives the most shade in that year.
I have to STRONGLY disagree with you on this one. If you know nothing else about Oscar--which I will not put past a lot of youtubers--you will surely know that he is the last person that will try to reduce a fellow black athlete to a physical animal devoid of thought or humanity. Oscar practically spent his entire life fighting that and has been extremely passionate about it even when it deeply cut into his own progress and marketability. I will give you he might be jealous of Westbrooks's success and hype, but to try to paint him into a Jim Crow type "they are just a bunch of animals running around out there" does a great disservice to a great man.

good question, the past two videos I made were short - i made the Dominique video which was really a clip reel - that tells a story - but its not really that deep - the other was just my video revealing who won the basketball in the #randysball contest - so basically, I need to follow those up with some really hefty worthwhile content . But this takes me so long to do in my spare time - so I end up not uploading for while . Last time i missed a week i was able to produce the Greatest Dunk Ever video which is 40mins. This time I've got two videos I'm working on, each about 30mins and really fun/different Thanks for asking - and Im aiming for this sunday for the first one, stay tuned!

Triple double as a stat didn't even exist when he played, he literally didn't know he was getting them, and had he known he probably would of got more. Any shade is because he got them because of overall play style and guys get them now cause the media made everything about stats.
Pretty funny when he uses the word crust, or crusty, among a whole bunch of other words and phrases. I don't know why I personally haven't heard that word used in those ways. Also I've been binging on Storyteller's videos. I'm gonna legit be sad when I watch them all cuz I won't have more of his videos to watch. so the first video i watched that led me down your rabbit hole was the lebron handshake analysis. That video didn't show your face, and it had no real technical editing... But I loved the story. You told me a story based on less than a minute of footage... perhaps you could make more videos like that or this one that require less time and effort from you. Cuz i couldn't imagine how time consuming and exhausting making 'NO LEFT' or 'Fighters & Fakers' was.

But it also smells of something someone being fake humble would say... in someway it's too perfect of a sentiment, Oh, i didn't even know... Also, back then the spotlight may not have been as "big" but it was Bright, if you emerged as a star, you rocketed into a different realm of recognition (relatively). TBH looking back, i think Rachel and "The Jumps" framing of this interview is what made it questionable for me.

This video is the worst basketball video I’ve watched. Literally an entire video of belittling Oscar Robertson’s career, and pulling at straws to try and make him look like he’s hating on Russell Westbrook. None of what Oscar Robertson said was shade. To be honest, this entire video comes across as a hack job. You had to squint extra hard to "read between the lines" and come up with some of this stuff.
You think of Oscar as smug for saying he didn't know he was averaging a triple double in the SIXTIES. Triple doubles didn't start gaining popularity and acclaim for nearly 30 more years bro. He averaged a triple double his rookie year and still didn't win MVP.
Apparently it's throwing shade to hope he doesn't burn out while stat chasing trying to beat an NBA record? When Russ was clearly burning himself out chucking 30 and 40 shots a game towards the end of the season? Dude was obviously gassed come playoff time.
How is it "belittling" to say teams MIGHT start trying to push him around? I think anyone with any type of basketball knowledge would assume teams wouldn't just roll over and let him stat chase. If this were a debate, my argument would be that you don't know him either and your "analysis" comes across as either hate solely for the purpose of a video, or contempt towards Oscar for not adequately praising Russell Westbrook to your standards.
UA-cam isn't a courtroom so I don't fully understand the purpose of you "proving doubt" in Oscar congratulating Westbrook on an accomplishment he hadn't even completed yet at the time. He was asked to speak on Russ' season before the record was even beaten. All Oscar did was give reasonable praise for the pace Russ was on. If he would've prematurely congratulated him and something happens(like Russ getting injured or gassing out) and he didn't surpass the record, Oscar would look foolish and people would've said he jinxed him. To read further into that and interpret it as resentment is nonsensical to me. Context is crucial.
I'll answer your question of Oscar's chuckle with a question of my own. Did you ever think the chuckle could just be of astonishment? I perceived that whole portion as so: "I hope he doesn't burn himself out. He's playing with such a high level of intensity it's amazing." I could be wrong because again, I don't personally know Oscar Robertson, but that makes a lot more sense then jumping to the conclusion that he's being resentful. Especially when you see Russ only played 70 or more games once in the last 4 years prior to this season(largely because of his intensity level) and he needed to play at least 80 games to have a shot at the record.
