She said that when she was around 5, she heard some jazz and fell in love with that Genre of music. She wanted to perform when she was 6 but they Norway's Got Talent (NGT)said that was the minimum. When the next year came she auditioned at the age of 7-1/2 years old. The song was "Gloomy Sunday." The judges went totally crazy and that audition is available on UA-cam. Every person who hears her singing always mentions the jazz twist to music she sings. I could go on talking about her for hours but since it is 2 a.m. here, I think I will stop for now.
Simon required for her to sign an exclusive contract with his company, in order for her to win AGT, and she gave her answer with this song. If you look closely, you'll notice she is wearing a t-shirt with a picture of her as a child, when she won Norway GT. when she begins to sing, she gives him a glance and clearly he got the message, hence his stone cold face. Yellow brick road is a metaphor for a road of richness that I'm sure he (Simon) was proposing, and she obviously said no, so "Good bye Yellow Brick Road." Absolute genius.
Angelina's talent is astounding! I have commented here in the past about the myriad specific qualities she has as a singer and they all apply to this performance. However, one thing jumped out at me on this one - when she sang the word "road" at the very end, there was no embellishment, no vibrato - just the purest of the pure voice of an angel. Her pianist deserves great credit for providing the perfect accompaniment to allow Angelina to shine.

Angelina's singing choices are always perfect. She does several things with her voice, she is never boring. And with her soft way of singing she commands people to stay quiet during the entire song :)

It should work perfectly for the release of her new CD that is set to be released sometime after the Finals end. "Goodbye to Yellow Brick road, where the dogs of society howl".- Good bye to AGT and the spotlights, where and all the record producers that try to get you to sign a contract. "You can't hold me forever, I didn't sign up with you. I'm not a present for your friends to open, I'm way to young to be singing the blues." - No long term contracts, no passing me off to other producers, I'm way too young for all this emotional stress. "You can't keep me in your Penthouse, I'm going back to my plow" - I won't be tied down and limited to what I can do, I'm going back to making music my way.
This performance is just one very small sample of Angelina Jordan. She has been creating beautiful vocals like this for years. She has sung over 100 songs (this one is actually #128 on the list). Angelina's version is melismatic. This refers to all those warbles in her voice and the timing involved in presenting them. Also Angelina has a unique combination of vocal fry and pure head voice that I've not seen in any other artist. 2. Presentation. Sara's performance was very strong. Angelina's is gentle. She adds a poignancy that gives the song emotional depth. It's like a friend who is sharing a personal experience. Sara's version makes you happy; Angelina's version brings tears to your eyes.

Some said it was a bad song choice for her not because she can't pull it but because it was not a competition type of song. And it's not as popular as Bohemian Rhapsody. My take is... that is where Angelina Jordan is most admirable. Just like what Simon said...SHE TOOK A RISK. She pick a song that is (excuse to my word) FORGETTABLE and made it an UNFORGETTABLE performance. She pick a song that is almost dead and brought it back to life. It was like a re-birth for the song. And Goodbye To The Yellow Brick Road now is so alive...thanks to her. It was like this... For her first song choice she pick one of the greatest if not the greatest song ever in Bohemian Rhapsody....to get the attention of the world. And now that the world is watching her the real artistry begins by transforming Yellow Brick to a golden brick.
I can’t get over the part around 8:28, after the incredible run, where she simply pauses and a slight, delicate smile crosses her gorgeous face. It’s like “no big deal, I got this”. I know she’s extremely humble & isn’t snobbish or anything. But that part just kills me.
Angelina is very brave. She picked a song from a legend like Elton John and rearranged it to just her and the piano. Her beautiful voice becomes so exposed. Nothing to hide behind. Then it's so great to see it nailed it perfectly. She put all her emotions into the song. To me her version was even more beautiful than the original by Elton John. Sometimes less is more. Angelina is renowned for doing her cover versions better than the original. There are so many nuances in her performance I discover ever time I listen to it. What she does comes natural to her. It's not rehearsed when she has to remember how she did it in the rehearsal. That is a trait of a true star. Elvis was a master of that. I see a little of him in her.
Kabayan TV I would expect to get her to agree to be on the Show they had to give her song choice and creative control. If it was a copyright issue then I’m sure they would have contacted Elton John to clear it, but I wouldn’t expect him to deny her, because unlike the US she is well known in Europe.

The coverage only last for a few seconds but you know Angelina is destined for greatness as soon as you see her. By the way absolutely fabulous reaction guy's thank you.
She did not get top 3, but in all honesty it does not really matter, the show is just there to give artists a big stage to show what they can do. Winning and loosing is really no big deal. As Always Angelina draws us in with her warm tone and pitch perfect vokals!
Angelina wouldn't sign the SyCo Music (Simon's Business) contract, so everyone knew she wouldn't win. She's wasn't bothered, as she got massive exposure through being on AGT.

After reading a well thought out comment from a poster on a different reactor's site, who ended his post by pointing out the obvious fact that the show was taped and finished long before any of this kerfuffle started blossoming, she couldn't possibly be reacting to something that would not occur for weeks into the future. I realized then that I'd been projecting my own empty thoughts onto her. I generally try not to do that sort of thing, but it's so easy to get over-protective with Angelina Jordan. Both her and Marcelito are undeniably extremly good. But Angelina dont sing the typicly songs that we have heard so many times before. And she makes them her own and makes the songs to masterpeices. Marcelito takes a much safer road. And the two voices he sings is impressive now but gonna be old news pretty soon. You really have to bring your own style and be current. Both probebly will have long and prosper carrers after this. But can see that Angelina have a bit more advantage because she is soo young and still growing and mature many years more.
She would have liked to win. But in reality, she was there to be introduced to the American audiences. Mission accomplished!! She was never going to win because her family let it be known that, win or lose, she's wasn't going to sign a contract with SYCO.
In many ways, it doesn’t matter whether Angelina wins AGT or not. With just two songs, she has convinced millions upon milliona of fans around the world that she is the greatest singer in the world, regardless of her age, time, or circumstance. The audience went wild and rightly so. None of the competitors should be sad that they lost to her. At this level of creativity and performance, there is no shame in losing. All the talk about unfairness of releasing this song early don’t really apply. In fact, the other competitors should be glad that AGT was released earlier because the world now knows what they are up against and will not judge them harshly. Side by side, the other competitors will sound less accomplished, less soulful, and less creative.

In my humble opinion, Angelina Jordan is in a class of her own and she is heading for SUPER stardom with or without winning AGT Champions. Angelina is TOO GOOD and talented to even be on any TALENT show in the first place. At present, it seems that it will be either Angelina or Marcelito who wins this competition. Both Angelina and Marcelito have amazing talent, HOWEVER IMHO, Angelina is a PURE TALENT while Marcelito is a GREAT talent with a "GIMMICK" which is why Simon told him to more or less step his game up without relying on the GIMMICKS which have taken him this far. Since it will be the SUPER fans and not SIMON who are voting, I would advise Marcelito to KEEP DOING WHAT WORKS for him!!!! I understand your concern. I've followed Angelina for almost six years now, and I resisted the Amy comparisons when she was very young. But after awhile, the similarities were undeniable and I had to give in. Angelina has done, I think, 5 Amy covers, and she sounds eerily similar, in a good way. To AJ's credit, she has altered the lyrics on two of the songs. Angelina sings "they try to make me go to school" instead of Rehab. Anyway, you probably know all this already. But go listen to Amy's version of "What a difference a day Makes" and you'll see how Angelina sings it almost exactly the same, as this is one of her idols, along with Billie Holiday, etc.

When she won in the AGT before, she was only 7 or 8 yrs old, and for a child to sing jazz with an amazing voice like her was considered a great talent by the judges and viewers back then. The same with the boy Tyler who can play the violin. For her to really stand out as a singer, she has to sing her own style and capitalize on that beautiful voice of hers. I've seen many contestants in singing competitions like American Idol and the Voice. I have yet to see a singer that sounds like copycats who win.

On second thought, AGT the Champions is a pre-recorded CIRCUS where the only one who does not belong there is ANGELINA ASTAR Jordan. And then they speak primarily their own language until they feel like using the eff word, like it's the only English word they know. She pick a song that is (excuse to my word) FORGETTABLE and made it an UNFORGETTABLE performance. She pick a song that is almost dead and brought it back to life. It was like a re-birth for the song. And Goodbye To The Yellow Brick Road now is so alive...thanks to her.
It was like this... For her first song choice she pick one of the greatest if not the greatest song ever in Bohemian Rhapsody....to get the attention of the world. And now that the world is watching her the real artistry begins by transforming Yellow Brick to a golden brick.
I can’t get over the part around 8:28, after the incredible run, where she simply pauses and a slight, delicate smile crosses her gorgeous face. It’s like “no big deal, I got this”.
I know she’s extremely humble & isn’t snobbish or anything. But that part just kills me.
Angelina is very brave. She picked a song from a legend like Elton John and rearranged it to just her and the piano. Her beautiful voice becomes so exposed. Nothing to hide behind. Then it's so great to see it nailed it perfectly. She put all her emotions into the song.
To me her version was even more beautiful than the original by Elton John. Sometimes less is more. Angelina is renowned for doing her cover versions better than the original.
There are so many nuances in her performance I discover ever time I listen to it. What she does comes natural to her. It's not rehearsed when she has to remember how she did it in the rehearsal. That is a trait of a true star. Elvis was a master of that. I see a little of him in her.
She chose hers, I thought the producers picks the songs for them?

I would expect to get her to agree to be on the Show they had to give her song choice and creative control. If it was a copyright issue then I’m sure they would have contacted Elton John to clear it, but I wouldn’t expect him to deny her, because unlike the US she is well known in Europe.

Angelina wouldn't sign the SyCo Music (Simon's Business) contract, so everyone knew she wouldn't win. She's wasn't bothered, as she got massive exposure through being on AGT.
I think she was limited to the songs she was able to sing on the show. I loved this, and I hope she wins. I think if she had total freedom she would have done another song.

After reading a well thought out comment from a poster on a different reactor's site, who ended his post by pointing out the obvious fact that the show was taped and finished long before any of this kerfuffle started blossoming, she couldn't possibly be reacting to something that would not occur for weeks into the future. I realized then that I'd been projecting my own empty thoughts onto her. I generally try not to do that sort of thing, but it's so easy to get over-protective with Angelina Jordan. Both her and Marcelito are undeniably extremly good. But Angelina dont sing the typicly songs that we have heard so many times before. And she makes them her own and makes the songs to masterpeices. Marcelito takes a much safer road. And the two voices he sings is impressive now but gonna be old news pretty soon. You really have to bring your own style and be current. Both probebly will have long and prosper carrers after this. But can see that Angelina have a bit more advantage because she is soo young and still growing and mature many years more.

In many ways, it doesn’t matter whether Angelina wins AGT or not. With just two songs, she has convinced millions upon milliona of fans around the world that she is the greatest singer in the world, regardless of her age, time, or circumstance. The audience went wild and rightly so. None of the competitors should be sad that they lost to her. At this level of creativity and performance, there is no shame in losing. All the talk about unfairness of releasing this song early don’t really apply. In fact, the other competitors should be glad that AGT was released earlier because the world now knows what they are up against and will not judge them harshly. Side by side, the other competitors will sound less accomplished, less soulful, and less creative.

This song is so well-known and so iconic (like Bohemian Rhapsody) that I fear many people might not appreciate the unique interpretation Angelina gives it. If they expect her to just mimic the original by Elton John, they will undoubtedly be disappointed. In my humble opinion, Angelina Jordan is in a class of her own and she is heading for SUPER stardom with or without winning AGT Champions. Angelina is TOO GOOD and talented to even be on any TALENT show in the first place.
At present, it seems that it will be either Angelina or Marcelito who wins this competition. Both Angelina and Marcelito have amazing talent, HOWEVER IMHO, Angelina is a PURE TALENT while Marcelito is a GREAT talent with a "GIMMICK" which is why Simon told him to more or less step his game up without relying on the GIMMICKS which have taken him this far. Since it will be the SUPER fans and not SIMON who are voting, I would advise Marcelito to KEEP DOING WHAT WORKS for him!!!!
At the end of the day, I don't care who wins AGT Champions because whoever wins is worth the WIN!!!!

I understand your concern. I've followed Angelina for almost six years now, and I resisted the Amy comparisons when she was very young. But after awhile, the similarities were undeniable and I had to give in. Angelina has done, I think, 5 Amy covers, and she sounds eerily similar, in a good way. To AJ's credit, she has altered the lyrics on two of the songs. Angelina sings "they try to make me go to school" instead of Rehab. Anyway, you probably know all this already. But go listen to Amy's version of "What a difference a day Makes" and you'll see how Angelina sings it almost exactly the same, as this is one of her idols, along with Billie Holiday, etc.

When she won in the AGT before, she was only 7 or 8 yrs old, and for a child to sing jazz with an amazing voice like her was considered a great talent by the judges and viewers back then. The same with the boy Tyler who can play the violin. For her to really stand out as a singer, she has to sing her own style and capitalize on that beautiful voice of hers. I've seen many contestants in singing competitions like American Idol and the Voice. I have yet to see a singer that sounds like copycats who win.
