I've just purchased it for my next portrait gigs, along with the 50mm 1.2 and the battery grip. Fantastic tool at a nice price point. This thing is a blast for photographers. So responsive, totally customizable. I couldn't justify buying g a 5D4 against this one, even if it was the same price. On the video side, I'm just filming in 1080p so this is plenty enough for me. Canon made the right move : the sensor is not too big, not too small in terms of resolution. It's a real pro photographer's tool and a good videographer's option as well.
Just a heads up. You can use the wireless to use your phone/tablet or pc as a live backup. No longer a need for a second card slot. I have used it while shooting events and it works really well.
At 8:30 you mentioned that there is 10-bit external video, but it is only available for 4K with the 1.8x crop. Full-sensor 10-bit (HD) is not available on any Canon camera except the expensive C200, C300m2.
i just got my eosr and i switched from nikon dslr, i too think the buttons are kinda soft and deepen in, not saying they are not working, just kkinda soft and you really have to push in to get it work.
hello , i have problem with eos r in studio photography with big flash light. for example setting is 1/160 f10 iso200 . so i can not see the subject properly, ...! do u have any solution in setting please.?
This is true I think the reason at least why I did it was because Canon is trying to make this camera to compete with Sonys mirrorless which is largely targeted at video or hybrid shooters.
LensProToGo just saw this video, but I don’t think Canon pitched this against the Sony’s at all. This was never marketed as a professional camera. Now the R5, that will kick Sony’s and is being pitched to the semi Pro.
I think Sonys A7III is more of a refined system because they have had so many iterations of it. But if you like canons color and image, Sony very close but just not there yet.
One question !! Plz help me Canon eos r comes with usbc to usb c cable. But I work on pc , and there is usb a type port So I need usb c to usb a type port How can I solve this problm ??
I have a client who want some food recipes videoing I'm wondering how much I'd lose quality wise with the 120fps - I've heard it's not much different from a lot of 1080 120fps. PS - the stabilisation looks very good I prefer it to the Z cameras or Sony A series.
does the screen black out when filming in 4k with hdmi connected . do you loose face af when using hdmi out in 4k (in clean hdmi out and not clean hdmi modes). I know there is 4k 10bit hdmi out, can you do 1080p 10 bit out over the hdmi out?
This is a nice looking and nice feeling camera with very capable lenses. But big and heavy is just not a good idea to be moving forward in a market economy that prefers smaller and lighter. If a camera and lens can do the same thing for less money, less size, and less weight this will be the smarter choice for consumers.
I am a photojournalist. People do still read news papers, magazines, travel brochures and other print media. Guess what, the pictures we shoot are STILL photos. Know what I do when I want to shoot videos??? I use my movie camera!
joysticks and buttons will be a thing of the past. I wouldn't be surprise if they follow the trend of phones...getting rid of most buttons and being a mostly touch interface.
LensProToGo I did used it, but the fps’s for this time in history (just that between maaany others) is just laughable! I’ve been a Canon shooter since 1968, I have an army of lenses, 8 film cameras, 5Dii, 5Div, 5Dsr, and 2 -1DXii, but this camera is just subpar, unreliable and plain weak! I cannot put my $ on it, I have no doubt it will grow to be one of the best but as today is a serious let down by Canon! Sorry but not this time.
Total valid points. And I think your right for someone in the position you are in with your experience with higher end canon cameras this will definitely under perform those cameras. I think you are not who this camera is for it’s for people who are just getting into photo and video, yes it has less features as some other mirrorless out there but I would say it is still a good option for someone starting out or upgrading from canons consumer products
LensProToGo YES! For those this camera will be sufficient! Those coming from Rebels and maybe 70D’s down. I agree with you; this is an upgrade for those wishing a their first full frame, however they will not have a true full frame experience!

Yeah, couldn't agree more.
Really nice overview! I purchased mine a few weeks ago and still enjoy watching these kinds of videos haha. Nice work!

Good note to add thanks!
Its cool but I’d prefer filling up another SD than my phone that already hasn’t got that much storage.. and bringing a PC around is a no-no
Awesome, well explained and backs up why I purchased the Canon EOS R. Thanks Greg!
More videos for Canon EOS R please, Greg. I'm interested to hear more usability and workflow especially video recording
i switched - i love it // i have been a 1dx shooter for ages - i’m super excited
Very clean and succinct review with plenty of info. thank you for your work.
Just bought the camera; good quick tutorial, thanks.
500th like! 😁🤙
Loved this, already own the Eos R and absolutely love it I just miss 120fps 1080p and hate that 4k crop but the 1080p is awesome
1080 is awesome. Totally agree.
I own EOS R its done everything I need.
Great vids. How do you successfully avoid recording the lens autofocus noise when using external microphone, in my case, Rode VideoMicro

Really, only 4K setting valid for 10bit external recording? Bummer...
This camera is a beast 😍
Yeah, I was impressed just wish they would throw those few extra features in there to make it amazing.
What are you talking about regarding the buttons?? I’ve had a 5d III for years and the EOS R buttons feel just as good. They’re identical!
i just got my eosr and i switched from nikon dslr, i too think the buttons are kinda soft and deepen in, not saying they are not working, just kkinda soft and you really have to push in to get it work.
Great video! How do you get the rack focus so smooth. What are your settings?
hello , i have problem with eos r in studio photography with big flash light.

How to turn on flash lights for nighttime? I can’t find it LoL
No one talks about stills, all videographers r out there giving reviews on video functions on cameras designed for stills.😐
This is true I think the reason at least why I did it was because Canon is trying to make this camera to compete with Sonys mirrorless which is largely targeted at video or hybrid shooters.
Yeah everyone is talking about video on a PHOTO camera
When I saw the camera all I thought were stills but reviewers thought otherwise I guess

Do you recommend it for photography or recommend the Sony a7iii

nice bro 😎
One question !! Plz help me
Canon eos r comes with usbc to usb c cable. But I work on pc , and there is usb a type port
So I need usb c to usb a type port
How can I solve this problm ??
My Macbook Pro can't recognize my new R, when trying to get my pictures to the mac ??

Good questions I'll have to try that out and get back to you.
What about 4k crop?
Yes there is a pretty decent crop at 4K similar to the 5d mkIV and 1DxmkII its 1.7x
The crop is great it turns 200mm into 300mm ;-)
Thank you 🙏🏻
woow thank you
Very very nice!
Thanks, Fabio!
Im missing that i can activate/deactivate the grid on a custom-button
did you snort a couple of lines of speed before recording this? man... s l o w down!
Nope just talk fast. If you click the setting button in the corner you can slow it down.
@@lensprotogo No worries mate, some good info in there...
y la sensibilidad, como funciona en iso altos, todo esto es porque estatal , debe de generar mucho ruido
I like my canon eos R fantastic camera. It has bluetooth connecting onto my phone download image quit quickly depending what bluetooth using it.
I’ve been looking for this. Can you confirm, one can use Bluetooth for image transfer instead of Wi-Fi? Also can I presume camera control as well?
Riccch kiddd using 50mm f 1.2L waaaaaaaaah.sent one to us.

Horse for the course!! You want good imagery, you use good glass, and it won’t be light.

On the Eos R you don't need the buttons , you can do everything on the very capable touchscreen
Good balanced viepmwpoint
I want it for the new 50mm, but I’ll have to pass because it only has one card slot.
I bet by next year there will be the pro version of this system.
The faster you talk, the slower I listen. :(
you talk to fast...
Only thing to know is that we don't need it. Just Canon trying to get us to buy it while the 5DMkIV does better and we get to keep our lenses
Right now if you have a 5DmkIV you are right you don't need it. But new people who are getting into photo and video, mirrorless is the way to go.
LensProToGo if I’m buying a new camera, do you think I should go with the 5d mkiv or the eos r?
Do you have any gear already like lenses?
nope@@lensprotogo
I would probably go the mirrorless route because I think that’s where there focus and new products will be heading in the near future
You concert for only video functionality
agnoring photo
I do talk a lot about the video side of things in this video.
Another shameful Canon product 🤒🤕
Not at all, the thing is awesome and a blast to use!
When I first read about it I was in that same boat but after using it, it is worth trying out before you completely discount it.
