We had some janky infantry basicly modded in to steelbeasts, antitank soldiers that were controllable, tho they operated like vehicles instead of actual infantry, good times.
I think I saw video of that, it was some effort by a secondary company. Forgot the name of the company, but they linked SB Pro with VBS via their own software. The guys running things in VBS would run the infantry, and the guys in SB would run the vehicles. It was an interesting project that I don't know what happened with it at the end.
@@tomssimshack398 Perhaps, tho I doubt it alot, we could select an infantry unit in SB Pro, and it would basicly spawn you as a guy that look'd a bit off and acts/works like a wheeled vehicle with really tight turn radius and a turret that shoots missiles.
Been a while for me too :) I see I started with Steelbeasts 10 years ago. Didn’t know about the drones, time to get back into SB. Nothing beats steelbeasts as a tank sim.. a lot of people make fun of the gfx, but believe me.. when you are trying to stay alive in SB you do not notice the gfx :) UP!
I bet future tanks will have to be designed with in built drone countermeasures like directional jammers and such cause a danger of just some guy with an ali express drone and an IED on a string is only going to grow
Especially with some of these Squad players going into the Military.... eventually one of them will be in a high position and can tell someone to put a C4 on a commercial drone and fly it into a building 🤣🤣 "I saw this once on Squad, let me see your drone real quick"

I own steel beasts and GHPC but I recently got Steel Fury and SABOW due to wanting older tank warfare. My biggest issue with Steel beasts is that it doesn't have a campaign system really. I don't like making missions at all, and downloading missions is meh. That's why GHPC is a bit better because it does quick missions well, but as of yet GHPC doesn't have an "immersive" war campaign. It's just spawn and drive straight into the action. GHPC also doesn't have as much in the simulation. Steel Fury is actually really good due to more believable mission structure, combined arms, etc. Anyways SB is definitely awesome and it's interesting to see drones added.
Im going to buy a SB Pro licence when I next get paid. There's absolutly no modern tank sims available on the retail market. I have the original Steel Beasts from 2000 but there hasnt been anything on the market since then.
You get it all, but they have periodic updates that you need to pay for (~$40) if you want to play multiplayer with everyone else on the latest version. You can also pay $10/mo if you just want to try it.
You title is wrong. Defence users asked for this several years ago - well prior to 2022. Its also NOT used by most simulators - maybe ask before you present errors?
I find it amusing that the SB dev team considers it a priority to add loitering munitions and prototype tanks that will never see service, but can't give us an Abrams variant made after 1998, won't give us any Western IFV made after 1995, and won't give us any artillery assets made after 1989.

They'd find themselves in legal trouble if in-service tanks were simulated accurately out of the box, that's getting into classified information. That's the problem with modern day settings for any sim, they all are too heavily limited in what they can do.
Anyone else get 5 ad breaks in the first 5 minutes of video (technically 4 minutes if you count the Xidax spot as the 6th ad)? Seems a bit...much, lol.
The depth in it's systems simulation (FCS's) is enough to overlook such things. Graphics were never their priority, and likely never will be, as it's not important to their primary customers. I've never once thought they looked bad either. The models look amazing and the terrain now (used to be even worse) is more than good enough for the level of simulation they're trying to achieve. Look beyond just pretty graphics :)
@@Solo6R haha, that reminds me of my favorite flight sim: Falcon BMS. Looks like hot dogshit, but is unrivaled in systems, flight model, and weapons realism. It's just the nature of sims i guess :P

Agree with the cover etc. but I don’t think graphics will ever be a focus for them. The actual educational version of steel beasts is a very in depth simulation
yeah, graphical fidelity is secondary in this case, it looks terrible at best. Tho, I doubt the equipment we had to run this sim could handle more fidelity without being a slideshow.

Did you just porposefully fucking shot an ATGM out of the air with a IFV (6:59) in an actual military simulation?
Yes LOL its a war thunder reflex LOL
In reality, it missed. You can't shoot ATGMs out of the air in Steel Beasts.
Somewhat of a actual tactic not recommended but a last choice

Wish they would lower the price on this. REALLY need to partner with DCS though.
this + dcs + arma (or sqaud or whatever) crossover when
When you compare it with other sims, the price isn't that high TBH. Something like two DCS modules or MSFS study level addons.

It is available from eSim Games directly. The newest version is 4.363.
The drones already existed before they just got an upgrade
