@@Oroberus yeah I know what to mean, I lot of shady stuff out there. I'm not sure what to say because I don't want to put his personal stuff out there. Vlandia has such cool armors that their troops don’t wear, imagine banner knights with actual shoulder armor, that would look so much more intimidating than a green cape. Or how the voulgiers only have a scarf
I personally prefer the "mismatched tournament prize set", that includes Sturgian helmet, Vlandian armor and Batanian shoulder pieces and together makes you look like a rugby player.
Because I often run a build that's not just great for tournaments, I found in the early days of this game that that was PRECISELY my best option. Rusty chainmail chausses ftw. If I'm "being real," it might also bear mentioning that I kinda suck at parrying and chamber blocks so. But I can run in a circle and bash with a two hander with the best, and my horse archer skillz aren't too bad compared to most people I see.

Just wanted to say thank you for being not just a great content creator/tester but an empathetic human being who went out of his way to start a positive chain reaction. I'm new to all of this and am allergic to technology (it embarrassingly took me forever to find out where to go to begin typing this dang comment) - but when I went to the gofundme page to contribute, I was stunned to see it already completed. Tying in the community like that just goes to show how much of an impact creators like you and Flesson have on other peoples' lives even if it's just to share our love/hobby for games. I wish you all the best and I hope you pull through these rough times, that this positivity vastly outweighs the negative. Support, no matter the form, will always go a long long way. Thoroughly tried and tested xD. I wish everybody happy holidays and a happy new year, may 2023 hitch off to a lovely start to forget a bummer end... And cheers to more fantastic content/games! I appreciate you leaving the feedback on this! I know a lot of people feel the same way as you, but it's always nice to hear it out loud (or read it, you know what I mean lol). The Bannerlord community really pulled this one off and the timing was perfect, he got the funds well before the holidays and I imagine was a huge stress-relief for him. Thank you for the kind words! Yeah the end of this year has been a disaster for me lol I have posted 2 videos since November 1st and my channel tanked a bit, but I'm glad it had enough steam to help Flesson out. 2023 is going to be huge I think, I've got some really big changes in store :)
Heavy Scale Armor over Mail Hauberk outperforms the Mastercrafted Southern armor. It has 5 less leg armor, but has 6 more body armor. It also weighs 18.2 as opposed to the Southern armor's 23.8. Edit: Also, it's significantly cheaper. 133529 vs 210686.
U can actually get unlimited money by just marrying (do the rizzlines so its very cheap) then make it that only u can survive then unstrip her/him of the armor after that make it run into hideout with u any bandit party (your welcome😉)
As disappointing as the 2 second difference in the armor weight race, it could be that mobility armor sets affect acceleration and maneuverability in combat much more than maximum speed, which is arguably more important in a fight.
Perhaps they might have made it some kind of curve, making it matter more early on then less and less with more armor. To prevent players from going 0 speed and writing angry post on forum.
@@Strat-Guides Yeah make the race 10 times shorter and see what happens. Precise measurement is the tricky part here, might need a mod or something to help
It is true but not at the same time, perhaps the speed was limited but, in real history the armor generally did not impede my mobility, for example the medieval plate armor was A work of art mechanically, totally Maneuverable, the Romans for example, the loriga segmentata, and their arm guards were articulated..for which, the armor adds weight and limits your speed, but not so much your mobility, maybe vision (full helmet) anyway, Greetings
Wow what an amazing collaboration! I really want to encourage people to donate- seriously think of how many thousands of hours Flesson put into helping us all out with info! Even 2$ is helpful bc it really adds up! Let's smash 1500$!!!
I am a sucker for the t6 sturgian and khuzait helmet. They look sick af. The best body armor is actually the Empire's Heavy Scale Armor Over Mail Hauberk (57/20/16) and Empire's Lamellar wih Scale Skirt as a very close second (52/23/16) but arguably more sick. The best horse I feel is the Asaligat (63/82/245). Wadar Hotblood (68/78/230)is amazing but only beats the Asaligat in speed.

Hey, glad to see you're back! I'm a loot goblin who doesn't like to spend money on gear (hardly ever), so I just equip the best of whatever the enemies drop (high Roguery ftw). In my experience, big armor values are more worth it than the tests here would make it seem, since the player would most often be fighting troops that are tier 2-4, outfitted with weaker ranged weapons and mainly cut-damage melee weapons, like swords and axes. The diminishing returns would only show themselves when fighting rarer tier 5, 6 troops or enemy nobles. I definitely tend to choose form over function with armor and love all the mail hauberks, especially the Sturgian ones with the golden/bronze rings and lamellar covering the torso. It's just the right amount of real-looking protection and lavish style that would befit a warlord. All the Vlandian helmets work perfect for this end, with their mail and face masks.
worth mentioning "Lordly" pieces of armor. I have some mail boots and gloves that each have 30 armor value. One was battle loot, other from a shop. No mods, about day 300
It's not dimishing returns AT all in term of survivability : if you lose 5 less hp out of a 20 hp hit, that means you took 33% less damage. Adding the fact you have at most 200 hp it means you die in 14 hits rather than 10 (again around 33% more). But a lot of shots are grazing you going form 3 to 1 hp or better 6 to 1 : in thoses cases the increase is huge. Of course if you take couching damages your a gonner anyway because thoses lances are deadly (rightfully so).
Unrelated but the way you introduced flesson as the big bro in another video for some reason thought he was a bigger youtuber or something, randomly checked yalls subs and saw the difference, youre a good guy strat 🥂 showin love to smaller channels
YAY! lifesign! i started to get concerned for you when there was no vid after a month now! i will watch tomorrow when i have time but felt to need to comment, mate! good to hear you recovered from your nasty cold.
the guide is somewhat outdated because you can find better gear now (like a cooler 54 armor helmet), boots with 38 armor, etc... just NEVER dismiss looting screens when you fight a group (yes even looters) because they can have armor with the "lordly" or "legendary" mention next to their name, while bandit parties don't have good gear in some occasions you can find some good civilian armor and for the best military armors you have to loot them on enemy nobles and their armies. also if you don't care about looting the best gear here's the best buyable items you find in towns, currently the best helmets can usually be found in Sturgia, so best helmet that i found is the "Closed Decorated Goggled Helmet" (54 armor), best paudron are in vlandia (not battania anymore) named "Reinforced Ornate Paudrons over Scale", the best gloves are still in battania same for boots (both easy to find) named "Scale Warlord Bracers" and "Scaled Boots", best horse armor is in the 3 empires called "Cataphract Scale Barding" (75 armor) and the best body armor (so far)i think i found it in Vlandia but i don't remember called "Heavy Scale Armor over Mail Hauberk" there's probably a better armor out there but this one is an alternative if you're camping multiple country towns (body 57, leg 20, arm 16), best shield is the "Pavise shield" in Vlandia (because it has better armor coverage against arrows, also easy to find), best arrows are Khuzait the "Stacked Steppe Arrows" (easy to find), best bow is the "Noble Bow" (easy find), best crossbows are found in Vlandia (moderately easy to find), VERY rarely you can find "Legendary Light Bolts" with high piercing and 24 bolts per stack but they really don't appear often (and they don't seem to appear in any specific country), best horse depends of your play style but if you're into charging then the "Royal Destrier" is the horse you're looking for but it can only be obtained by winning a tournament with this horse as the price. best weapons (outside of ranged weapon EXCEPT throwing weapons) are the ones you craft (usually the "legendary" ones but you need very high lvl perks to do that). best civilian gear you can buy : Battania : "Bronze Breastplate" (body, somewhat rare), "Fian Bracers" (common) Empire (but i think some other countries like Vlandia have them) : "Lightweight Padded Coif" (common) Khuzait : "Reinforced Suede Boots" (common) Aserai : "Leopard Pelt" (easy to find) although i think the "Heavy Cloak" you can find anywhere is cooler and almost as good. Banners can't be bought, you have to fight enemies to get some. otherwise lots of the armor pieces i've listed can have some variants (like you can find a "Thick Pavise Shield" in Vlandia), but apart from the shield, the legendary light bolts, a variant of the Lamenar Pauldron, some crossbows and the variant of the Lightweight Padded coif, it's much better to fight enemy lords and get crazy variants of gear when you loot after winning, you can get better armor and better arrows (more damage + bigger stack) as well as better banners too. so far i've found better pauldron, gloves, boots, arrows, banners, civilian head/gloves/boots/pauldron gear by looting :)
also be careful with the "value" of the loot in the loot screen (or in the town trade screen), sometimes you can find better stats gear (variants usually) that are priced LOWER than worse gear (true with helmets, pauldron variants in towns for example or any other gear in the loot screen). if you see some "Lordly" or "Legendary" or "Thick" or some variant like that beware, it could be better that the highest priced items.
I have loved Vikings all my life and have studied them for a long time so when I picked this game up you know I immediately fell in love with the Sturgians. They are more of a older middle aged Russian faction with all the armor showing that but I enjoy it so much
Thank you! I'm going to do a follow up to this one in the future and go heavy into damage testing. I can use the min/max armor pieces for the late game damage testing then :)
with no aditional modifiers, the best armor (heavy one) is warlord helmet 54 and brigandine over hauberk from sturgia 94, battania scaled boots and gloves at 26 each and for shoulders either vlandian or aserai ones at 32 total. With a high enough roguery skill you can grind for the lordly ones but it`s not that much better than the standard ones. With these stats no one enemy can kill you, you`ll even survive couch lance attacks
arrows use piercing, which means the armor is only half as effective. the slashing weapons is where the armor really shines. blunt now doesn't fully ignore armor, but armor is negligible. this is why most weapons with slashing, piercing, and blunt has the damage values that they do. basically low damage blunt weapons are really good against armored opponents, slashing weapons are for low armor opponents, and piercing splits the difference.
The best headpiece I've had was 56 armor. The scaled arm/leg armor also has an improved version, noble or something. I wish they added master weaponsmith and master armorsmith branches so that we could craft full gear.
Something I noticed about the Khuzait and Aserai is that a lot of their leg and arm armours are technically from other factions and so don't show up in shops, but their troops regularly wear them (Various mail and splint armours come to mind)
"we compared each culture's armor sets" Except you didn't. You didn't keep culture's armor, wearing Huscarl boots with Asarai stuff, and mixing sets like wearing scale with cloth. I was expecting better, but you DID show relativly the same armor values for each set, so hats off for that, but it's nothing the wiki can't tell you.
I watched it twice, first as a fan of Flesson19 and Strat Gaming videos. 12/10 :) Second time paying attention to details, like why does the best armor not give us more protection against missiles. I got some good armor and cant even lower my shield, to shout out orders to my troops, without risking that I take a shot for 40+ damage through my superhero helmet. I am now on the lookout for a Lordly helmet that would give me +8 armor. With such a super rare helmet I might only take 39 damage :) For people wondering, Lordly gives +8 to each stat on an armor piece.
The only thing i truly hate about this game, is the way that every NPC just NEVER stop going after you in combat scenarios. They're always right in your face, never leaving pockets of air.
Don't forget that rogue perk giving +10 chest armor to civilian armor making Thick Brigandine provide 44 chest armor for 4.5 weight and wearable in town.
I’d be curious to see the difference in damage from the first set of bow attacks on the late game armour. Running headlong into Fian Champions is always a bad idea, but it would be interesting to see how much damage you can absorb from low tier troops
Interesting guide. Thank you! I just wanted to add that early and late game sets should be compared by damage absorption for different type of damage. Since the pierce damage ignores some of the armor and blunt damage ignores a lot of the armor, the cut damage is absorbed heavily by armor. Take it into account.
Don't want to advertise another Bannerlord channel (hopefully SG don't mind) but LyonExodus is doing really good job and deep analysis on armor. Basically for foot troops only body and head armor is relevant. For cavalry, leg is somewhat important aswell but again - most blows, arrows and hits will go to body + head.
The potential armor value if these have the lordly modifier is insane, but you couldn't really acquire the best in slot armors with the lordly tag, cycling towns is a crapshoot at best, even items that are usually in high supply (say 20-40 at most towns that sell them) it can take forever to intentionally find even 1 upgraded variant, let alone a lordly one. The most reliable way to get Lordly items is through the roguery skill, because in after battle loot, item modifiers are seen much more consistently, but that brings me back to the first point, many of the top tier armors are not worn by any units, like the "reinforced ornate pauldrons over scale" I dont believe are worn by anything, so they could never drop as battle loot, but some second best in slots do drop, and the lordly versions 2nd best items would still be far stronger than the best items default stats.
I found it very hard to find the lordly gear I wanted, led me to believe certain pieces can't even roll as lordly and nothing I could search online gave me any info on it at all... getting the best gear takes a bit of luck, getting the pieces to roll lordly is effectively impossible without min maxing your chances and grinding for hours. If it's even possible.
Cavalry with full coverage helms (which were most often worn visor up until the very end of a charge) is indeed a bit later, though so were the components that allowed a lance to be couched to best effect (the Grapper/Arrêt de Lance, and the much later Lance Rest on a cuirass). Honorable mention to the "thick brigandine vest" for non-civilian use. It's pretty good chest armor for its cost/tier/weight, though it totally lacks arm armor.
Okay gotcha, yeah I figured that was the case. So they didn't have much need for it without the ability to couch? Seems like armor at the time was meant to deflect the lance away, but you don't see those elements in the armor present in Bannerlord. I guess it makes sense now :)
@@Strat-Guides It's more that full helms and even visor down are actually a relatively niche option as far as helmets go and "middle of a cavalry charge right before contact with the enemy" is on the short list of things they're good at. Humans still very much needed to breath and see.
Man this video was sick, the Bannerlord community is great, will only continue to get better too with the likes of Strat and Flesson leading the way, good job fellas:)
well strat, this is nice - but Id like to see a best armour by appearance choices too. Embrace the Fashion lord! As you say the difference between super high and mid tier values is minimal in terms of protection, so - may as well concentrate on being dapper as hell. There are some really nice cross culture armour sets that look like they were meant to be worn together. EG: scale armour from batania + aserai work wonderfully.
In the next one i'll be covering that. I wanted to use only the regular armor pieces so it would be easier to compare them and see which ones were better without being modified.
Lordly Lamellar Pauldrons weigh 5.0 body armor 24, arm armor 14. I'm also surprised for civilian the Fine Thick Brigandine Vest wt 4.5, BA39, AA13, LA 7, in Amprela for 5743 denar. Maybe later than you pulled data for this video. Funny I never find the Wadar Hotblood in the village of Wadar. Looking forward to some day when we can make or repair armor in the forge.
Amazing test, as always. One thing though: i find aserai leather strips over padded robe to be quite a bit better civilian armor than the imperial one.
Thank you so much for helping out! I'm sure he's going to be over the moon :) I agree, I thought about doing a sponsorship and just donate the proceeds but I felt like it would mean more to him to have the backing of the community he cares so much about so I went this route instead. Thanks again :)
My favorite armour set is "highest stats on everything except bear hat and armoured bearskin." I cant get over how nice the bear hat and skin looks. Wolf works too for when im broke.
The Heavy Scale Armor over Mail Hauberk has a higher total armor than the Mastercrafted Southern Scale over Chain Hauberk, has higher body armor, and weighs less. Also, the leopard skin outclasses the heavy cloak by a landslide for civilian gear.
Personally I'd change best in class to "waxed decor leather harness with padding" for shoulders, "heavy scale armor over mail hauberk" for body and "fine plated leather vambraces" for hands. Boots are OK, switch to splints if you can find a lordly set and what ever 54 helmet you like best. Gives you 54 head, 72 body, 56 arms and 50 legs
@@jaymorrison2419 so that means if i want to have for example the ornate desert battle crown i need to focus on figthing aserai nobles, specific unquid or in case of the khuzait battlecrown monchug
So all of the armor pieces were purchased in game during an actual campaign, so if something was missing it's because it wasn't being produced for some reason. I noticed some cultures were getting hammered and I think they were starving a bit for materials to make the good stuff.
I hate how the weight of armour basically does nothing to speed. it feels so much different when you have armour compared to not wearing armour. can Usain Bolt run 44.72km/h with an additional 30kgs? this is bad for not only immersion, but from a gameplay standpoint because It doesn't matter if you have heavy armour or not. also I also love the viking goggled spectecal helmet too. infact, I have 1 myself. what do you think of the goggled cataphract helmet tho
I think you didn't do enough justice to minmaxing armor by saying about diminishing returns: players may assume there was an implication that getting hit by pierce damage with above average base damage (e.g. your bow testing) is way more common than it actually is in-game. Playing with very high hitpoints (220 and up) on main character and total armor modifier on foot, which, I assume, a lot of people will do in their playthrough granted Endurance's power and popularity, going 5 points up in armor still increases hits to kill even against hight base damage troops, such as shock infantry. And it doesn't end there, because, as we go down the tiers of troops you're likely to meet on the battlefield, higher armor values keep pushing damage taken into negligible amounts: range of damage taken from common low damage output troops (such as militia) can vary from as high as 8 to as low as 3 just within tier 6 armor sets, which nearly triples our survivability. And, as mainly Sturgia player, I can attest that, if I get hit and combat and look at the incoming damage value, there's an above 80% chance I'll see a "-3" in easy to come by minmax armor with no prefix modifiers.
Yeah I know what you mean, my biggest issue was time constraint because it was already pushing 30 minutes long. In the next armor video I'll be focusing exclusively on real world implications of armor like you describe - early game armor vs early, mid and late weapons and late armor vs early mid and late weapons etc.
I did some testing right now (accounting for different attack and different body parts and probabiulty of being hit to different parts). So, for piercing damage average of 36-38 armor halves damage. Average of 69 armor (best gear)decreases it further 1.67 percents. Averaged low tier hit of 58.5 (to naked armor) is reduced by superb armor to average of 12.5 (accouning for different body parts). High tier bow hit of average 125 (to naked armor) is reduced to 28 (accounting for different body parts). From gameplay perspective, armor requires no buffs, I think.
I’ve managed to find the sturgian lamellar armor. It seems to outclass every other armor set in the game. The only armor I found that was better than it was the lordly version of itself.
I'd like to see more testing with different weapons. Just to see if different damage values/types have different impact on higher armor. I think pierce already does better against armor than cut? Maybe cut weapons get reduces more by higher armor, also higher damage weapons losing more of their impact?
Agreed, that will be the topic for the next armor video! This one was already approaching 30 minutes so I decided to cut the testing off. I think cut weapons will do much worse against late game armor, but I am curious to see how blunt weapons do compared to early game armor.
Just look out for Lordly Armor. Boots can go to 34 Armor, Arm to 32 Armor, Head to 57 Armor, Chest 24/22 and Body is like 52/22/26. Except Body and Head which are at 100-200k each. The Rest is mostly under 10k. The best I had was 57 Head 76 Body 76 Arm 60 Leg I felt like I had Damage Reduction on had to double Check after battle. I was on realistic... Arm and Leg is actually avaible at Day 200 already, just gotta be lucky. My favourite is still looted Bandit Gear that make u look like a mix of Searaider and Mountain Bandit.
thank you for this interesting and time intensiv video with the other bannerlord youtube god flessorn19. once i wandered around calradia i watched out for the best looking armor and i realized some parts are very rare. at least i now know that it depends on the armor and weapon smith but what happens if you have in every city a weapon and armor smith? you know, buying 2 workshops, changig the production and selling them again and so on. my suggestion: the price for iron will get a massive boost and not every shop will be producing. ' so what is the most effective way to get those super rare tier 6 armor pieces?
I dont play since a bit of time, but i remember after a battle against Sturgians, a drop of a "god" saddle (cant remember the name). Was very light and bring more armor than the cataphract. No mods, history mode and more than 600 days
Interesting, I've seen a few in the cheat menu that are above the cata armor, but I've not been able to find them in game. It makes sense that they would be a rare loot drop!
I did miss an armor/weigh best ratio set, to be as light as possible but still with acceptable armor so we can run faster. For example, suede boots, leather vambraces and the padded coif are good for that. Some waxed or fine versions of starting armors are even good enough too.
Cool video, lots of work, thank you. I dunno about these parameters though. Wouldn't it change from game to game based on what loot caravans move around? (Not sure about Lords) I'm pretty sure that i've found a complete cataphract set in the Empire lands by lategame.
Thanks for watching! So the armor sets are made at towns when they have enough materials to do so. If they have a smithy it's even more likely to be made, but even a town without one can do it, but they still need to materials (iron, leather, hardwood). So in this case, when we bought everything from the towns, they didn't have it in stock which means it was either consumed by the town (prosperity consumes goods including gear) or it wasn't made due to lack of resources.
The problem i have with the leather harnesses of the empire is that they are sooo heavy compared to the armor they give and their look (like the one you showed in lategame, 14 weight!). The vlandian one weight less than 1/4 of the harness for a similar armor + looks better. Anyway nice video again !
Where do you get that brigandine chest for town armor? Looks vlandian which is annoying because they're all dead and thus I can't get the modifier stuff
Strat i just got into bannerlord and i have to say, your videos are a big help. I do have two questions for you though. 1. how do i use that overhead camera you use in your formation videos; is it just a custom battle thing, a mod, or did I just miss a setting? 2. If I get into a massive fight and I lose a bunch of my high level troops, how do I replace them? Do i have to go around grabbing recruits from villages all over again? I haven't gotten to late game yet, and haven't really touched settlements at all, is it something in there?
Hi Tyler! The overhead camera is a mod called RTS Camera mod. Generally high level troops shouldn't be dying too much - maybe at most 20 - 30% of the ones that go down will die and even less if you have a good surgeon. Best way to get more is to take them from a garrison. Next best it to recruit prisoners and only keep higher tier ones. Otherwise, just going around and leveling them up. If you're crashing your army into equal battles where high losses are expected, you might want to rethink you engagements a bit more. It's good to fight a few close battles from time to time, but generally you want to take easy fights to preserve your ranks.
Personally, I'd go for a Best Overall thing. As in - this is a better for my chest, better for my head, better for my arms, and so on. About the only way to make me go, "Nope" would be if the price was 50K for an increase of 2 protection.
the fact you used tier 1 and 2 armours in the late game set completely invalidates all your results, really weird decision as no player would do that in game
Did you watching the setup for each test? We bought all the gear from each town owned by a specific culture and used those pieces to build the best armor set. We used what was available in game in a legit campaign, which is more valid than loading up the cheat menu and picking the best (lazy route). Also some cultures have terrible arm and leg armor and TW has a limit selection of arm and leg armor. They tend to add helmets, capes and chest armor, but not arm and leg. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I don't agree with your assessment that the whole guide is invalid.
@@Strat-Guides Sorry I only meant the late game results. I was just thinking about the scaling of the amours and if they end up better or worse in the late game. Comparing apples to oranges doesn't make sense to me. I understand the way you did the whole thing to give some semblance of realism. I just think even flat comparing tier 1 armours for early game, tier 3 or 4 for mid game and the only tier 6 for late game. Or even just forget what I said and add another tier for completely maxed out armour stats no matter the grind. I think that's main thing I was thinking before watching the video and was just confused when you stopped seemingly before the finish line. Appreciate your content, sorry for the weird hostility that the internet facilitates sometimes.
Great guide esp since I was planning to do a playthrough where my character and companions are only allowed to equip armors of their own culture. For some reason (Taleworlds math maybe), the Mastercrafted Southern Scale over Chain Hauberk is really overpriced compared to the best armor in other cultures. My personal favorite is the Light Lamellar Armor worn by Aserai Veteran Infantry. It's not the best armor but you get a whooping 48 body armor for just ~38k denars at the cost of 0 leg armor.
The mastercrafted southern scale has a significantly higher armor value than the best armor of some of the other cultures. It makes sense that a piece of armor granting 50+ body armor is going to be more expensive than a piece that is only granting 40. Also, if you just look at the price of raw materials, iron and other smithing materials tend to be more expensive and more rare in Aeseri territory than say Sturgia. It makes sense then that skilled blacksmiths are harder to find and get more of a premium for their goods.

Vlandia has such cool armors that their troops don’t wear, imagine banner knights with actual shoulder armor, that would look so much more intimidating than a green cape. Or how the voulgiers only have a scarf
I think most of the shoulder armor looks kinda goofy, it just kinda floats there with no way of being attached to the body
@@Ginnpis it’s actually absurd how bad the shoulder armors look like on women

@@JoshuaJames604 I’m in the same boat, though I don’t mind some of the imperial harnesses.

My favorite set is the "completely mismatched cobbled together looted scrap suit." Terrible on the eyes but you can't beat the price!
Haha I avoid that altogether by running around naked :P
I personally prefer the "mismatched tournament prize set", that includes Sturgian helmet, Vlandian armor and Batanian shoulder pieces and together makes you look like a rugby player.
Because I often run a build that's not just great for tournaments, I found in the early days of this game that that was PRECISELY my best option. Rusty chainmail chausses ftw.

Heavy Scale Armor over Mail Hauberk outperforms the Mastercrafted Southern armor. It has 5 less leg armor, but has 6 more body armor. It also weighs 18.2 as opposed to the Southern armor's 23.8.

As disappointing as the 2 second difference in the armor weight race, it could be that mobility armor sets affect acceleration and maneuverability in combat much more than maximum speed, which is arguably more important in a fight.
That's a good point, maybe when I do those speed tests I could analyze top speed difference and off-the-line speeds? I had not considered that before.

The best body armor is actually the Empire's Heavy Scale Armor Over Mail Hauberk (57/20/16) and Empire's Lamellar wih Scale Skirt as a very close second (52/23/16) but arguably more sick.

Hey, glad to see you're back!
I'm a loot goblin who doesn't like to spend money on gear (hardly ever), so I just equip the best of whatever the enemies drop (high Roguery ftw). truly a Great video of 2 great UA-cam presenters , thank you for the amount of work you both have contributed to this video...Flesson19 and Strat ..... its amazing when this level of harmony can produce this type combined ..........
Thanks! We both put a couple weeks worth of work into this one and I think it turned out well :)
No mods, about day 300
Lordly version of the good pieces are always way better than the normal version
Its +8 to each armor value that the armor represents.
I absolutely lov the fact that you're showing all of your tests and only then explaining what enactable conclusions you came to.
YAY! lifesign! i started to get concerned for you when there was no vid after a month now! i will watch tomorrow when i have time but felt to need to comment, mate! good to hear you recovered from your nasty cold.
the guide is somewhat outdated because you can find better gear now (like a cooler 54 armor helmet), boots with 38 armor, etc...
just NEVER dismiss looting screens when you fight a group (yes even looters) because they can have armor with the "lordly" or "legendary" mention next to their name, while bandit parties don't have good gear in some occasions you can find some good civilian armor and for the best military armors you have to loot them on enemy nobles and their armies.
also if you don't care about looting the best gear here's the best buyable items you find in towns, currently the best helmets can usually be found in Sturgia, so best helmet that i found is the "Closed Decorated Goggled Helmet" (54 armor), best paudron are in vlandia (not battania anymore) named "Reinforced Ornate Paudrons over Scale", the best gloves are still in battania same for boots (both easy to find) named "Scale Warlord Bracers" and "Scaled Boots", best horse armor is in the 3 empires called "Cataphract Scale Barding" (75 armor) and the best body armor (so far)i think i found it in Vlandia but i don't remember called "Heavy Scale Armor over Mail Hauberk" there's probably a better armor out there but this one is an alternative if you're camping multiple country towns (body 57, leg 20, arm 16), best shield is the "Pavise shield" in Vlandia (because it has better armor coverage against arrows, also easy to find), best arrows are Khuzait the "Stacked Steppe Arrows" (easy to find), best bow is the "Noble Bow" (easy find), best crossbows are found in Vlandia (moderately easy to find), VERY rarely you can find "Legendary Light Bolts" with high piercing and 24 bolts per stack but they really don't appear often (and they don't seem to appear in any specific country), best horse depends of your play style but if you're into charging then the "Royal Destrier" is the horse you're looking for but it can only be obtained by winning a tournament with this horse as the price.
best weapons (outside of ranged weapon EXCEPT throwing weapons) are the ones you craft (usually the "legendary" ones but you need very high lvl perks to do that).
best civilian gear you can buy :
Battania : "Bronze Breastplate" (body, somewhat rare), "Fian Bracers" (common)
Empire (but i think some other countries like Vlandia have them) : "Lightweight Padded Coif" (common)
Khuzait : "Reinforced Suede Boots" (common)
Aserai : "Leopard Pelt" (easy to find) although i think the "Heavy Cloak" you can find anywhere is cooler and almost as good.
They are more of a older middle aged Russian faction with all the armor showing that but I enjoy it so much
STRAT I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS
Great video I really enjoyed it! I’d love to see a 4th segment with best theoretical armor from each culture as well
Thank you for all you’ve done for us Flesson!
arrows use piercing, which means the armor is only half as effective. the slashing weapons is where the armor really shines. blunt now doesn't fully ignore armor, but armor is negligible. this is why most weapons with slashing, piercing, and blunt has the damage values that they do. basically low damage blunt weapons are really good against armored opponents, slashing weapons are for low armor opponents, and piercing splits the difference.
Wadar Hotblood is for free on every tournament below 9 lords participating and I have plenty of them.
The best headpiece I've had was 56 armor. The scaled arm/leg armor also has an improved version, noble or something. I wish they added master weaponsmith and master armorsmith branches so that we could craft full gear.
I have one of 57 in my current playthrough, lordly closed mail goggled helmet, but ye the lordly does that I think
Something I noticed about the Khuzait and Aserai is that a lot of their leg and arm armours are technically from other factions and so don't show up in shops, but their troops regularly wear them (Various mail and splint armours come to mind)
Strat makes so good guides. I love these. I dont even own bannerlord.
Thank you panda! I appreciate that :)
Another great well constructed video. I will keep this all in mind in my playthroughs
Man, I just simply love your content. Awrsome work as usual.
Good to have you back
Thanks Marksman! This one took a really long time to make too lol I should have started with something smaller so it wouldn't take 2 - 3 weeks :P
Second time paying attention to details, like why does the best armor not give us more protection against missiles. I got some good armor and cant even lower my shield, to shout out orders to my troops, without risking that I take a shot for 40+ damage through my superhero helmet.
I am now on the lookout for a Lordly helmet that would give me +8 armor. With such a super rare helmet I might only take 39 damage :)
For people wondering, Lordly gives +8 to each stat on an armor piece.
Thank to Flesson and yourself. Love the video 😊
The only thing i truly hate about this game, is the way that every NPC just NEVER stop going after you in combat scenarios. They're always right in your face, never leaving pockets of air.
Yeah I usually save up 5M denars or so, so I can pay them off for a couple years while I expand through 1 - 2 of the weaker kingdoms.
Don't forget that rogue perk giving +10 chest armor to civilian armor making Thick Brigandine provide 44 chest armor for 4.5 weight and wearable in town.
Love the bloopers at the end!
Been waiting for a video for awhile, thanks strat👍
A Strat upload always make my day better.
Thanks for watching!
I would like to see you test how important each type of armor is in a real battle, like for example if leg armor matters if your doing foot combat.
@@Aldilus I see. I was wondering if arm armor is important in melee but seems like it isnt, thanks.
Random "Hitler Mussolini" from Brazil mentioned in profile picture
I much wish they would let us smith armor.
Humans still very much needed to breath and see.

so in nutshell armor is more of a dressing game than a meta topic - i like it.
well strat, this is nice - but Id like to see a best armour by appearance choices too.
Max simulation armor is the heaviest and has 55 in everything even the head, but I don't think you can find it without cheats
I was a little surprised you didn't cover the prefix that can be added on drops from combat. Lordly vs Fine etc.
In the next one i'll be covering that. I wanted to use only the regular armor pieces so it would be easier to compare them and see which ones were better without being modified.
@@Strat-Guides well that's a very Lordly reply. Thank you!
A fine reply indeed.
I think leather strips over padded (Aserai) is the best civi body armour. I've been playing RBM for a while so I may have forgotten.
Yes, it squeaks by with 36B / 7A / 6L
Amazing test, as always.
One thing though: i find aserai leather strips over padded robe to be quite a bit better civilian armor than the imperial one.

My favorite armour set is "highest stats on everything except bear hat and armoured bearskin." I cant get over how nice the bear hat and skin looks. Wolf works too for when im broke.
I admit my favorite is 'whatever's best off the guys we just killed'.
Gives you 54 head, 72 body, 56 arms and 50 legs
im curious if there is any legal way to get the battle-crown helmets
They are fairly rare drop from taking on noble parties. Kick Duthert enough times at about day 400 and you will get one eventually.
@@jaymorrison2419 so that means if i want to have for example the ornate desert battle crown i need to focus on figthing aserai nobles, specific unquid or in case of the khuzait battlecrown monchug
The only armor I will ever wear is Bear Head and Armored Bearskin, change my mind!
How can i get those?
@@jokein8888 Battania have them
24:59 Could you explain why you chose this Mastercrafted 51/25/16 (92 total armor) over the 20:19 Brigandine over Hauberk 49/25/20 (94 total armor?)
Can I offer you a fief and some horses for that armor.
@@agroplode9680
I would make that deal, I got both as loot just from fighting sturgians.
Fantastic video, and what an amazing thing to do, that GoFundme.
I am gonna share this with my community
amazing video as always, i love you
I'd like to see more testing with different weapons.
Get it. Appearance is more important than performance. Just choose my favorite armor style
the best armor for horses is celtic frost with 78 armor i think
Actually, the light Vlandian getup looks pretty cool, you can definitely see the fantasy aspect.
thank you for this interesting and time intensiv video with the other bannerlord youtube god flessorn19.
once i wandered around calradia i watched out for the best looking armor and i realized some parts are very rare. at least i now know that it depends on the armor and weapon smith but what happens if you have in every city a weapon and armor smith? you know, buying 2 workshops, changig the production and selling them again and so on.
my suggestion: the price for iron will get a massive boost and not every shop will be producing. '
so what is the most effective way to get those super rare tier 6 armor pieces?
Actually brigandine is a steel plate covered with leather and/or fabric on both sides, that's why it's so deceptive
Ngl sturgian and vladian armors together or mixed is pretty awesome
I dont play since a bit of time, but i remember after a battle against Sturgians, a drop of a "god" saddle (cant remember the name). Was very light and bring more armor than the cataphract. No mods, history mode and more than 600 days
Interesting, I've seen a few in the cheat menu that are above the cata armor, but I've not been able to find them in game. It makes sense that they would be a rare loot drop!
Sturgia based.
@@Strat-Guides Celtic Frost was the name of the saddle. Definitively so OP
Great eye opener...my set its mixed...great job Strat!
I did miss an armor/weigh best ratio set, to be as light as possible but still with acceptable armor so we can run faster. For example, suede boots, leather vambraces and the padded coif are good for that. Some waxed or fine versions of starting armors are even good enough too.
Vladian mid armor more like: “Ain’t these a little baggy for your size”
And this is why WE LOOT.
Damn I didn't even realize how expensive these armors are and without modifiers aswell.
Cool video, lots of work, thank you. I dunno about these parameters though. Wouldn't it change from game to game based on what loot caravans move around? (Not sure about Lords) I'm pretty sure that i've found a complete cataphract set in the Empire lands by lategame.
Cataphracts are Empire troops, so why wouldn't those armors be available in Empire lands?
Thanks for watching! So the armor sets are made at towns when they have enough materials to do so. If they have a smithy it's even more likely to be made, but even a town without one can do it, but they still need to materials (iron, leather, hardwood). So in this case, when we bought everything from the towns, they didn't have it in stock which means it was either consumed by the town (prosperity consumes goods including gear) or it wasn't made due to lack of resources.
@@Strat-Guides Ah, i see. Thanks for clarifying!
Now do that for RBM. It will be soooo much more meaningful, because armor does a lot in RBM as you know
The problem i have with the leather harnesses of the empire is that they are sooo heavy compared to the armor they give and their look (like the one you showed in lategame, 14 weight!).
The vlandian one weight less than 1/4 of the harness for a similar armor + looks better.
Anyway nice video again !
Can’t wait for the review for the silvered yeti armor
Where do you get that brigandine chest for town armor? Looks vlandian which is annoying because they're all dead and thus I can't get the modifier stuff
Yeah I think it was a Vlandian town that we got it from. I have to double check the database.
I've played 1400 hours of Bannerlord, and today you taught me about the total armor counters. I'm such a moron. 🤦♂
This help so much. Thank you
Great guide esp since I was planning to do a playthrough where my character and companions are only allowed to equip armors of their own culture.
