I would love some feedback on this video as it was more of an experiment for me than a normal "guide". My goals here were to:
    - Promote the Robin Hood series starting on the second channel.
    - Practice making a non-guide video.
I have a few other ideas for videos I would love to try out if this video does well, but I wanted to test the waters first. I only spent about 10 hours on this compared to the usual 40 - 50 hours for a guide so if the interest is there, I could put a lot more time into the next one. I've still got a guide coming out this week, so don't worry!
    *Other video ideas:
    - Can playing video games make you smarter? Maybe...
    - How playing video games helped me succeed in business.
    - Here's how much my small 40k sub channel makes on UA-cam

Really enjoyed this one! Any of those ideas sound like a good video to me. Having something a bit shorter to digest was also nice, but don't take that to mean the longer guides and stuff aren't appreciated; it's just nice to have some variety!

It's cool. Liked it. Love all your videos. Packed with stats and added humour. To be fair you're my favourite and only one I've subscribed too. Flesson I watched before I discovered you but is bound by privilege of mods. Thus every new patch a moan that its broken the game. I appreciate new content is hard once you cover the guides, therefore mods is second phase to engage audience. However you update videos as content stats chance from versions and nerfs. So thank you. I feel the learning curve for this game is huge at start. The amount if knowledge ive crammed is like studying for a Taleworlds exam.
Should also note I found a bug but don't know if its just xbox series x or game version wide. Seems no sound on troop commands during bandit hideout raids. This same for PC?

As a player with thousands of hours also, I've been thinking of ways to spice things up and keep the game going. Here's one for veteran players out there to try or anyone wishing to extend their late-game. Best used in sandbox mode.
    United Empire playthrough:
Unite all the empire factions under one banner, either by joining an existing faction and conquering the split factions or by establishing your own empire faction and uniting them under one banner. Recruit some of the empire clans but eliminate others through execution as to have a strong base of nobility but not overwhelming (15-20 clans should suffice). Once accomplished, abdicate the kingdom and leave releasing all your territorial holdings even abandoning all your hardened troops and companions to the wind. Essentially leave yourself with nothing. Abandon your massive wealth also if you want.
From there, restart your game and decide where to go. See if the united Empire can stand against the other non empire factions. Go start a new faction and fight against the monster you created. (Maybe you left your creation because it became too political, or corrupted. Pretend you were betrayed or usurped. Insert any backstory.) Maybe go into retirement and fast forward the game until you die and your heir can take over if you had kids. You can create a world, where your child was truly an impoverished noble and now he/she must take back what is rightfully theirs. Leave them with nothing but the Legendary Sword you fashioned when you were young. Hand it to them on your deathbed and charge them to seek revenge.
*The year is 1135. The New Calradic Empire threatens to conquer all the lands. On his deathbed, your father calls you to his side. He gives you a key to an old wooden chest that he has stored in the attic. In his final breath he tasks you to follow your true destiny and reinstate your lineage. You brush the dust off the old chest, and with a click the lock opens. Inside you find.......*

One of my favorite challenges if the female, no-combat challenge. I play as a noblewoman who was dispossessed (whatever backstory you want really) and who now must reclaim her lands. However, being raised to be a lady at court leaves her with no combat skills. The rules are very simple, no set-up involved.
    1. No points in Vigor, Control or Endurance. No Focus Points to any Combat skill. The only END skill you can Focus is Riding.
    2. No smithing or trade. Noblewomen aren't blacksmiths. Also, most medieval nobles were looked down on or outright barred from trade.
    3. No weapons beyond one-handed civilian weapons. No armor. I changed this slightly with banners so I can wear fancy (ceremonial) armor and carry a banner to inspire my troops.
    4. No engaging in direct combat while in battle. You can defend yourself, but only if you can't run away. I mean, you are wearing a dress with a one-handed sword...so engaging in combat probably isn't a great idea to start with.
    5. No Fian Champion spam because...well...this breaks the game.
I found this to be fun because it basically removes the things that you can do to become OP in the game. You're forced to rely heavily on the SOC and INT skills. These skills are very strong, but offset by the fact that you can't be a one-man-death-machine on the battlefield, or spam two-handed swords/polearms for infinite cash. You need to manage your finances and balance your armies carefully and composition matters because you're relying on your troops to win battles for you much more so than normally. The backstory of being a conservative noblewoman bred for a life at court sort of explains all these restrictions.
Obviously, if you absolutely love combat in Bannerlord (perfectly understandable), this playthrough isn't for you. But for me it was a fun challenge that made me play in different ways from the tournaments/spam smithing/spam Fian Champions -> win model that I find many playthroughs degenerate into. It also made me focus more on troops compositions and tactics, which helps your overall game because you learn more about the units and tactics. Being in a dress with a dagger all the time also helps you to avoid the urge to dive into melee combat.

All the methods you listed involve making the game more difficult or demanding, but there's also something to be said for turning on some cheats and treating the game exactly like the pointless toy that it actually is. Sometimes cheating can be as innocuous as cutting out the grinding time involved in an aspect of the game where none of the fun is had in the grind itself. Or cheating can be used to remove the punishment element from failure so that you can have more opportunities to practice something that you're not skilled at, as it's hard to get good at something that sends you back to respawn for several minutes after every botched attempt. Other times you may just kind of want to do something more passive like test an army composition without your personal help to see how they perform, and you don't want to be bothered dodging pointy bits while you're observing the results.
I think people shy away from cheating because of silly reasons, judging by what's said in comments sections and forums. It's easy to forget that while we may want to challenge ourselves, we're still basically goofing around in a digital sandbox, and the point of that at the end of the day is to have fun. To anyone who feels like it's shameful, I say you've gotta turn on godmode and jump from a huge height at least once.

I did something like this in Warband's TLD mod. After a couple playthroughs I became unstoppable by the midgame because I had 8 heroes to cover all the party skills & train troops, and could replenish my forces with prisoners freed from the enemy. I then got an idea from the Silmarillion. Elves in the First Age set up separate kingdoms for Men, so they would be lead in war and peace by their own people, so what am I doing using rescued Men & Dwarves as meat shields for those Mirkwood/Rivendell archers I like to recruit?
It just so happens that elf troops in TLD never get taken prisoner, have the smallest recruitment pools, only have 7 settlements all in the northern half of the map, and have only 2 heroes. So I did an elf-only challenge, where my party including heroes had to consist entirely of elves, any prisoners rescued had to be donated to their respective faction ASAP. The entire southern half of the map got overrun by Evil by the time the north was secured, and an epic campaign to push them all the way back to Mordor ensued.

Friendly reminder that cheating is perfectly okay. If you don't want to go through the absurd smithing grind - just cheat your way there. Especially, if you've already been there and done that - you know that you can do it, you did it before and it's not difficult, just time consuming. So yeah, just skip the time spent on boring tasks, figure out how you'd balance it and play the parts of the game you enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't follow my own advice, I will still spend the first 2 in-game years with a massive recruit-only army stacked to the brim with mules so I can trade EVERYTHING. But, if that's the thing that keeps you from having fun at a game - don't be an idiot. I mean, when you re-watch TV shows, you might also skip the episodes that suck.

Something to change the game up if you're not up for too many rules and challenges is a simple rule:
No noble/elite units. This means if you want good archers you can't get Fians, if you want good cav, you have to choose between going all the way to Khuzait lands for their lancers and horse archers, or will you just deal with having Battanian, Sturgian, Vlandian cav, whichever you picked.
Doing a playthrough with this build now that Full Release came out, looking to get most of the achievements if possible and so far it's been pretty great. Thank you for watching! Yeah I can make a short video on console commands. The speeding up of battles is actually using a mod - RTS mod. You install that, then go into any town, village or battle and press L to open up RTS options. In the top right there is an option to change the speed factor (default is to slow down time) and you just need to move the slider so it increases speed instead of decreasing it. Then maybe set a hotkey to turn it on and off. I have it as one of my mouse buttons because I use it so often. I hope that helps!

De Re Militari is seriously a 10/10 mod, I truly believe they should incorporate it into the vanilla game. It always felt silly that some average joe farmers could be trained up to be top tier infantry or heavy cavalry. Plus, it's not even remotely historically accurate. A huge chunk of medieval armies were just local levies, i.e. those average joes with some cheap armor, a spear, and a shield.
Of course the game doesn't need to be historically accurate by any means, but it feels so excellent to finally be able to invest in those somewhat rare top-tier troops and watch them cut through the levy troops like a hot knife through butter.

Agree completely, I'm always surprised by the people on the forums who insist on pure meta map painting as the only playstyle because after doing it 2 or 3 times I never wanted to do it again. I do however have a lot of fun with weird builds or roleplaying, or even just staying a merc for long periods of time. My current one I'm just using a big horde of tier 2 troops while staying mostly out of combat myself.
I think back to bannerlord or even warband and for a long time I would lose a battle and reload and try to win it instead, but it's such an unsatisfying way to play when you only stomp the enemy. For an example, I had been chasing an enemy mercenary down early game and he fled to a village. When I finally caught him, I didn't notice that the rather large militia had joined him for the fight and while I did win, I lost a good amount of my troops. Annoyed at his treachery, I executed him on the spot and swore to destroy his merc clan. Small things like that keep the game interesting for me after 1200 hours.

So it may not actually be the dad that you have to barter with - it's supposed to be the head of the clan. Sometimes the dad is the head of the clan and sometimes he's not so double check that. If you've got the right person then make sure the chat option to barter for marriage is there. If it's there, then you should be able to do it. One thing I did notice, pressing the auto balance button doesn't give you the green pass option, but if you add a single denar (plus symbol on your side near your denar balance) it should turn the barter green and let you complete. Also make sure you have enough to pay for the wife, it's usually in the 200 - 5k range so have at least a few thousand denars handy.

Yup! It's called fourberie and you can take over the gangs of a town or establish a bandit hideout as a home base. You can earn income from it by dropping off prisoners to work as slaves lol

I'd say that engaging in all of the games mechanics is important, sounds obvious but when you play a game for dozens of hours you start to habituate to a certain way of playing. You only do the most profitable quests, dont bother with trading or charming etc.
I personally never practiced melee fighting because i could get plenty of kills being a horse archer or lancer with little to no effort. However this locked me out of tournaments, bandit hideouts without high tier troops, and doing anything in battle other than clicking on heads from a distance. Yesterday I spent maybe an hour in custom battles 1v1ing to actually practice up. Now I can actually win tourneys and fight on the front line, it has been the spice you mentioned, and i had a lot of fun last night.

They will only siege if they have overwhelming numbers and a 100% chance to win, so unless you want to fight to the last man, defensive sieges aren’t really worth it unless you know how to cheat the game and win one.

If you really want to get in one, look at a big enemy army, (it will say which town or castle it is going to siege) then go to that town right before they show up. Chances are you will lose, but I would go with a mace and a good bow, so you can deal with all that heavy infantry and you don’t get slaughtered. But, you can do whatever you want and thats just my experience.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 роки тому +1

I usually let them siege and break in once they start the assault. Once their numbers start to drop, that's when you can break in and guarantee yourself a defensive siege. It will cost you a few troops, but the amount of losses you'll save from fighting in the field should outweigh the sacrifice.

I've been having fun with the game. However, I have to go to the browse menu. Then bin file, then load bannerlord exe from there. I can't use any mods and I don't know how to fix the problem. I was hoping that the full release would let me get back into the game but I have been unable to for several months. I've tried to delete the game and reload it to no avail. If you have an idea on how to fix that I would love to hear it.
Even so I am enjoying the game such as it is being vanilla.

I know for a fact there are some files that don't get deleted when you uninstall and it sounds like there might be something broken that's not getting uninstalled or overwritten when you reinstall. Flesson made a video that might help - ua-cam.com/video/xh-7I5j1lC8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Flesson19
There are files labeled JSON that don't seem to be deleted so maybe start there? I wish I had better info for you but hopefully that gets you off the a good start.
Also this is a really stupid solution, but if all else fails you can reformat the drive that Bannerlord installs on. You definitely should not have to do this lol but it's something that would probably work!

It really depends on what you enjoy in the game. Personally I really enjoy RBM because it makes combat more challenging. I just started using Fourberie mod and so far it's been great! I ran a couple bandit campaigns before without it and it's much harder without fourberie. I like the smaller QoL mods too like RTS mod, character reloader, encyclopedia extender, etc. I'll have to start making some mod review videos - but it will take me some time. I know a lot of others will install a mod and make a video after using it for 30 minutes, but I find that incredibly disingenuous since they don't really have a good grasp of if the mod is good/fun or not. Once I get more time with these mods I'll do some videos. I feel comfortable with RBM so that will probably be my first one!
