I first bought the QuicRun Fusion 2300KV for my Axial RYFT kit. What a perfect motor for a RYFT. It can crawl with the best of them, and with the two speed transmission it is fast ! Liked is so well, I just bought the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport High Trail, and within 2 days switched the stock motor for another Fusion 2300KV, Hugh difference in torque and higher speed running. Thank you for your video, you got me started on the Fusion upgrades !!
"Closed loop" is a feedback sensor providing rotor (spinny part of motor) to stator (non-spinny part of motor) position to the speed control, so that it can create very well-manipulated magnetic fields = better low speed control. The opposite, "open-loop" means the speed control doesn't have a feedback device to indicate the rotor / stator position. In short - sensored VS sensorless.
Thanks that was helpful and not something I’d have looked up intuitively. Do you know of any budget sensor setups that perform well or is it something you can’t skimp on?

OMG. I have a TRX-4 that keeps burning brushed systems and I've been wondering what a good way to go brushless might be without breaking the bank. This just made up my mind for me!
Hey, I own the TRX4, I purchased the kit version of the TRX4 and I selected the Land Rover body. The kit was really enjoyable to assemble, I liked putting the TRX4 together because one, if I ran into trouble I'll have knowledge of repairs without having to do any lookups. Now, just a little knowledge that I learned the heard way: I purchased the Land Rover body, but what I didn't know, I had to extend the wheelbase of the TRX4 in order for it to accept the awesomeness looking body. Having a longer wheelbase has advantages especially when it comes to crawlers and they are, adds more weight, better handling, and adds space for more accessories which adds more weight and when it comes to crawlers the heavier the rig the better the rig will be at crawling over obstacles.
Extremely helpful, RCG. I just bought the 2300kv model yesterday and will be stabbing it into my Element Gatekeeper this weekend. Thanks for the step-by-step.

Nice! I read an in-depth article about ESCs once where they explained that running a motor slow actually makes the ESC hotter than running it fast. This combo doesn't seem to have any temperature issue while going even slower than what's possible with other ESCs!
I feel you there. I'm sstill a bit iffy on Kv myself. The reason I ask is Im also looking at a set of those under drive ring and pinion gear sets for my diiff's and I don't want it to be soooooo slow. That would drive me nuts. I'm thinking 2100 to 2700 kV but like I said, under drive gears. i would think that would cause it to run warm. But, in your video you ran your rig all over the place and it didn't even break a sweat. I'm impressed. I did a little more research on them and im sold. i just have to pick out a kV now. I think the esc inside the can is what really sold me on it. Glad I came across your video. It really got me to thinking about kV and rpm's. If I find any easy to understand videos on Kv and rpm's i'll send you a link.
I’ve been running a 3300kv Hobbywing Axe system in my TRX4 for about a year now and am really pleased with it. The motor does get rather warm when pushed hard in high gear.
I don’t have the fusion but do have both the AXE 540 2700kv in my SCX10 II and the AXE 550 3300kv in my 12lb Redcat Gen 8, absolute love both systems in these rigs. The hill park feature is my favorite.

Damn.... just had to order a upgrade for my TRX4.... thanks for a great video.....such an easy and quick install !
I’ve been running a 3300kv Hobbywing Axe system in my TRX4 for about a year now and am really pleased with it. The motor does get rather warm when pushed hard in high gear.
This was awesome! That's a really cool motor/ESC! Great Video! :)
thanks, I’m glad i found this . I’m installing mine in my RC4WD Goodrich Edition today, YYYYYeeeaahhhhhh!!!!!
I don’t have the fusion but do have both the AXE 540 2700kv in my SCX10 II and the AXE 550 3300kv in my 12lb Redcat Gen 8, absolute love both systems in these rigs. The hill park feature is my favorite.
Cool content. Getting into crawling now. Locking you in for a good source of crawling knowledge. Keep up the great work!
This motor is so good, so quiet. A+
That thing is sooooooo smooth. Soooo super smooth. Smoooooothhhhh. And yes quiet
Very cool. Ill consider this the next truck I build. Thanks. Cheers
I never understood the crawler part of the market but after watching this it looks so cool, especially the control going up that spiral staircase. 👍👍👍
Wow! Great video on that system!!! Technology has come such a long way since the RC10!!!!! lol
