- Western University of Health Sciences is known for its team-based approach to health care and research. The emergence of One Health, where the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment, provided an opportunity for second-year College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) student Natalia Gilbert to participate in the 2022 Veterinary Summer Research Program with CVM Associate Professor Curtis Eng, DVM, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) Associate Professor Sebastien Fuchs, MD, PhD, and COMP Assistant Professor Manish Issar, PhD, as they investigated meloxicam inhibition of COX enzymes in Ball pythons (Python regius).
Our four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum uses a problem-based learning approach guided by a reverence for life. Your education will include wellness care, primary and tertiary care, client communication, collegial exchange, and business training. Groups of approximately eight students actively engage in the learning process with faculty.
