You might want to touch on how expensive it is to stay in business in terms of equipment costs and overhead along with the cost of just setting up a veterinary practice from scratch as opposed to buying one which already has clientele. That should prove enlightening to potential future vets. It is more work than most people realize. It is not just about treating animals. You also have to deal with their owners and collect the money. Many people cannot afford the costs, and they can add up fast.
Great vid doc! Didn’t know there were so few veterinary schools, or how competitive it is to get in. Have you considered doing stand- alone videos where you discuss extreme spine surgery cases? They do not necessarily have to be ones you’ve participated in. I have seen some, and they may be graphic, but they yield drastic results. Maybe 1 procedure per video; covering some anatomy, symptoms, differentials, images, alternative treatments etc, and how spine surgery corrects the error. Would be interesting to see, thank you!
I always treat veterinary & human medical field at the same level. While veterinary only involve animal, please aware that their knowledge on animal diseases can help humans in combating diseases that are harmful to us

Disclaimer that I am not a veterinarian, only a certified veterinary assistant. That being said: Some days are really hard. I love animals, I love caring for them, and my daily goal is to do everything I can to provide the best care for the pets I deal with at work. There are days I see cases of abuse and neglect. I see sick and suffering animals. I see animals on the verge of death after being hit by a car or viciously attacked by another animal. There are unsocialized and aggressive animals that will (and have!) attack me given the chance if my guard is let down. I witness pets taking their last breath on a (sadly) semi-regular basis ; sometimes it is a peaceful, humane euthanasia, and sometimes it’s…. absolutely horrible and heartbreaking. I’ve been in the field for 11 years now, and sometimes weeks go by without an emergency or euthanasia; and there’s been days with 7+ deaths of some form or another. I don’t mean to be a “Debbie Downer” but these are things a lot of people honestly don’t think about, but they need to be prepared to deal with if they want to work in the veterinary field. How you be in lifestyle like do you go to work unknow time and can you have kids and give married and be full time vet and all that or you have to put all your time in this career for becoming Bio/Vet degree with a focus in large animal studies?
Maybe someone can help me out with this so I have a 3yr old female boxer, and ever since last Thursday her eyes have been really red and she’s been super lethargic and not drinking a lot of water so I took her to the vet twice and they just said it’s allergies, which I honestly don’t believe because she’s still super lethargic and won’t get up to go outside or anything, and today I tried to get her off the couch by picking her up and she yelped really loud which she hasn’t done at all. And she’s been taking eye drops and pills and if anything she’s getting worse so I honestly don’t know what’s going on. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
#1) If you don’t trust your current vet you need to find a new one- plain and simple. Would you place your health in the hands of somebody you didn’t trust or believe? I imagine not. #2) If your dog is getting worse, they need to be seen by a veterinarian- sooner rather than later.
Hello,i have a sick cat i already took her to the vet 2 times the first time was about a limp, the clinic did blood work and xrays ,and everything was good they only gave me pain medicine,2 time was constipation due to the pain medicine so they did colonoscopy, and now she does not whant to eat or drink, i don't know what to do i dont trust the vet anymore.
Hey Dr. Webb, so I have previously dislocated my right shoulder from getting into a small fight with my brother. I did not seek any physical therapy when it first happened, and my shoulders would pop out every now and then (reaching for pillow, carrying 25lbs plates). It has been 3years and I was wondering if you think getting arthroscopy is worthwhile. It gets EXTREMELY painful when my shoulder does pop out and it is scary when it happens when I am driving. What do you think about arthroscopy?
Hey I randomly found your channel and I'm so glad I did. I'm currently a junior in college at UF and I'm pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine, I recently became interested in doing research. I was wondering if you could make a video about it or find somebody who could into depth about it. Also shes the first colored Veterinarian I've seen!
You can pursue a duel DVM/PhD. Certain veterinary schools have that as an option. You can also be a DVM and choose to teach in academia which would allow you to pursue research.Good luck!
Depends, some can make upwards of 200,000 while others make below 100,000. It all comes down to if you decided to go right into practice after veterinary school or if you decided to pursue board certification in specialties such as neurology, cardiology, surgery, opthamology etc. Board certified veterinarians tend to make a whole lot more than non-board certified veterinarians.

I have a question on behalf of my cat, what if your cat's poop is very hard and dry but it smells like vinegar
Do all vets have to do surgeries?
I'm thinking about either doing vet tech or becoming a full vet, but I don't really know the pros and cons. Can someone enlighten me?
Great information. I always ask questions at the doctor's office. I enjoy learning and being aware of what is happening to me. If I can't talk to my doctor, I go somewhere else. I was hoping to see cute pets in this video.
Thank you, gracia's.
Thank you for this video!
best Doc 💪🏼💪🏼
Cool! Love it
I’m gonna be going to school to become a veterinarian soon!
Erm, I have a question. Where do you get all the meds?

Hi I’m 13 I’ve known I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 6. I want to volunteer but non let a 13 year old be around animals without a parent which my parents don’t have time for. I have pages of notes of just research I’ve done online on veterinary medicine. What do u suggest I do to get the time with animals for college and further?
gaby zycka Do you have pets? See if your pets’ veterinarian will allow you to shadow for a day!
How nice clinic!!
Canada only has 5 vet schools
How you be in lifestyle like do you go to work unknow time and can you have kids and give married and be full time vet and all that or you have to put all your time in this career for becoming Bio/Vet degree with a focus in large animal studies?
Thx for your video.
So helpful,thank you
Hey Dr. Webb!!!
Maybe someone can help me out with this
so I have a 3yr old female boxer, and ever since last Thursday her eyes have been really red and she’s been super lethargic and not drinking a lot of water so I took her to the vet twice and they just said it’s allergies, which I honestly don’t believe because she’s still super lethargic and won’t get up to go outside or anything, and today I tried to get her off the couch by picking her up and she yelped really loud which she hasn’t done at all.
Maybe try a different vet
Pleaseee do a day in a life with cardiooo
VERY HELPFULL!!! THANKS
Can you please do Day in the life of a PM&R Doctor? There aren't many very recent videos about that specialty

Thoughts on Zomedica’s diagnostics?
A vet from Pakistan!
My question is How much do u make every year?
i think vets make around $90,000 a year
Depends, some can make upwards of 200,000 while others make below 100,000. It all comes down to if you decided to go right into practice after veterinary school or if you decided to pursue board certification in specialties such as neurology, cardiology, surgery, opthamology etc. Board certified veterinarians tend to make a whole lot more than non-board certified veterinarians.
Great video!!! Could you do a DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DENTIST video Dr. Webb the GOAT !!
Hello! Thanks for the request. I have a dentist coming up but this is the closest that I have to it so far ua-cam.com/video/RZjx6b7-Zus/v-deo.html

When did you find out you wanted to be a doctor
I wanted to be a doctor when I was 12. I was between pediatrician and veterinarian. But I loved animals so much I chose the latter.
I want to be a vet but I just turned 12 and I’m scared
