    Hi Dillon ,
Just so you know, I'm writing the same to you, Psychederek and the pair of Matt and Psych professor, to thank you guys for providing lots of fun watching your videos. I'm considerably older than any of you (almost 52) and having been into sixties psych, or sixties in general (amongst other things), since I was 10 years old (when John was shot, and the media started bombing us with all things Beatles) it's so good to see younger generations getting into the same grooves (pun intended), especially coming from mostly godforsaken Serbia, where likeminded soulmates are more than scarce, regardless of generation, which puts the number of people that I've been able to talk to (I mean face to face) about anything even remotely obscure sixties, down to not more then a few dozen, for the past couple of decades. Scary, right? On top of that, having in mind that, before internet, finding records in (then) Yugoslavia, aside from what local labels had decided to license (which, as you might guess, wasn't much beyond mainstream), was a hell of a hard hobby to keep going, by just a word of a very few mouth. To avoid sharing a novel sized life story here, in the meantime I'd been finding ways to learn and collect, had a local radio show, spreading the word (and sound) to the uninitiated, got in touch with thousands of bands and labels around the globe (you wouldn't believe some of THE bands that had actually sent music and stuff in support of the show), who all generously helped keep the show going. Through all that I also got involved in the re-initiation of the notorious Shindig magazine and had been writing reviews for it during the first year or so, and also for the Italian Misty Lane mag, which all helped connect to those "like us", at least by way of cyber space. In the meantime, thanks to my job, I've been travelling all over Europe (so far only once the US), which has helped the (physical) record buying habit a little, but seeing the records you guys are able to buy at (from Serbian perspective) unbelievable prices, makes me soooooo jealous 😊 I've (re)bought and (re)sold lots of my collection multiple times, and have been sticking to not more than 1000+ records (+ as much singles and a few hundred CDs) that I really listen on regular basis.
Anyways, I could go on forever, feeling like I'm actually talking to someone who understands the nerdy language I speak all my life, so I'll just finish with a list of records that I think I haven't heard any of you mention (I do believe I saw most of your videos) and which I know for sure any of you would love (I'm sure you'll know some if not most, in spite of not having mentioned them for one reason or another), so let me know if you do know them and prey tell why not mention them?! 😊 and even more so, let me know if you hear them after me suggesting.
I've been following you on IG since recently, which is as Goran Obradovic (@garwoodpickjon => here's a little test for you ... without googling please 😊), where you might get a glimpse of what I'm about besides psych, even though I haven't been posting much lately
So, here goes the "wheresitonyourlist" list:
    - The Action - Brain (or Rolled gold, depending on the release) .... this is your beloved pre-Mighty Baby, so come on guys, no mention of the mighty Action anytime you rant on MB?! Not nice, to say the least!
    - Blossom Toes - We are ever so clean (I somehow do believe some of you must've mentioned it, which I might've missed. I just can't believe otherwise)
    - Jack Bruce - Songs for a tailor (you might love it more than Cream even)
    - Dantalian's Chariot - Chariot rising (Zoot Money (and Andy Summers) post Flamingo psych bandwagon jump. But what a jump it was!)
    - Pete Dello - Into your ears (formerly of Honeybus ... more on the Toytown psych side, but what irresistible toys)
    - Honeybus - s/t ... while at it. More pop than psych but what a (bus) ride!
    - Elli - s/t (a comp on Dig The Fuzz label - same as the first Action release above - but essential to me)
    - Genesis - From genesis to revelation (but either get the singles too, or the cheap Rock Roots reissue, which includes them, because they're worth it ! You all love early Bee Gees, so there you go
    - Billy Nicholls - Would you believe (your future grail, as anyone's 😊, once you read about it, and hear it)
    - The Poets - s/t (if on Distrotions) or "Get with The Poets and live" (if on Corduroy). Even the early daze, 64/65 is more psych than some of the officially declared psych!)
    - The Smoke - It's Smoke time (NOT Lloyd's US Smoke obvs, and verging between freakbeat, psych and pop)
    - Gary Walker & The Rain - Album No.1 (future grail is all I say ... if not already)
    - The Dovers - We're not just anybody (10" comp of all 8 single sides - one of the most precious pieces of plastic in my house is all I say)
    - Dan Hicks & his Hot Licks - Original recordings (former Charlatans resident weirdo, and more like vaudeville psych, for want of a better genre, but if you haven't, hear "I scare myself" and you won't care if all other songs are shit. Which they are not, but they're more fun than good)
    - Klaatu - debut + any of the next three if you care for prog-Beatles, which everyone thought they really were early on
    - Powder - Biff bang powder! (The best album never officially released!!! Period! Forget SMiLE. Which I love too. This is, Who,Small Faces, Nazz and lots more, all rolled into one outrageous monster! If this was an official album, it would have been in my all time Top10)
    - The Vagrants - I can't make a friend (a comp, first by Distortions, which is kinda like semi-official-ish, and then on (I think) Light in the attic
Truck - Surprise surprise (former October Cherries ... but THESE are the versions of songs you'll want to hear)
I'm sure I must've missed quite a few, but I hope we stay in touch and exchange tips anyway.
Cheers and thanks again for making me feel like I'm actually sitting with someone who speaks my language!
    Garwood Pickjon 😉
    PS
One of the tonguebreaking records you showed once is the Yugoslavian band Igra Staklenih Perli 😁
Not one of my faves, and to be honest, there's not much local stuff I collect, except for sixties beat/psych singles, of which there was not mOre than 100, believe it or not, but two records I'd surely recommend are Pop Masina whose hard hitting psych I know you'd LOVE, and Grupa 220 "Nasi Dani"

I am an old man (72) and still looking for the ultimate psych. Before I found your site I was considering selling my collection. First record I ever bought was around 1958 - 59 and it was a 78 RPM. Love your videos keep them coming. On Part one I said I had about 95% of those you showed. On Part 2 I'm down to about 50 - 60%. Next time I visit my son in NC I will have to try to check out your store.

Mr Noble Record Guy - As others may have mentioned, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are a great psych band from Melbourne. Very prolific and they vary each albums sound quite a lot from garage to bluesy and even jazzy, poppy, and heavy metal. But their psych masterpiece is their 8th album from 2016 - Nonagon Infinity. It’s...Epic. If you haven’t heard this amazing record (and I don’t bandy around these adjectives lightly) please check it out.

Great job on this video. You and Dots and Loops have helped me expand my listening and helped me to form an actual want list. Because of your part one and some other videos I was able to pick up some fantastic albums while I was on vacation last week. I have been enjoying them since I returned home. I loved your advice at the end. I do get discouraged because I live about an hour away from the nearest record store which is very small and they don't get a lot of old acquisitions. I try to look anytime I have the opportunity but I dont usually have a lot of luck. Anyway, I'm enjoying what I have and do what I can. Keep up the great videos.

That May Blitz record, along with their second one, is heavy blues-laden psyche-rock in a similar vein as early Black Sabbath. But crossed over with complex guitar work in a similar vein to "More", "Ummagumma" and "Meddle" era Pink Floyd. As far as the complex guitar work goes, a krautrock band named Gila (1972), also comes to mind upon hearing those first two albums.

Great collection. May I highly recommend a few Australian/New Zealand bands, as good as anything I have ever discovered and very expensive vinyl, if you can find them
    1. 'Wide Open' (1971) by Kahvas Jute, with Bob Daisely on bass (Rainbow, Ozzy) and Tim Gaze, a 15 year old guitar prodigy. (Australia).
    2. 'Goolutionites and the Real People' (1970) by Tamam Shud with Tim Gaze on guitar. (Australia)
    3. 'Scented Gardens for the Blind' (1975) by Dragon. (New Zealand).
Also a psych/blues track by a FEMALE, 'Poverty Train' (1968) by the Bronx teenage genius Laura Nyro.

    • @lupcokotevski2907
      @lupcokotevski2907 4 роки тому

More Aussie gold I forgot. Cheaper than the albums above at $150 - 250, and with great cover art as well, as with the ones above. Jimmy Page is a big fan of Wide Open because of Daisely's phenomenal bass playing.
'At the Mountains of Madness' (1971) by Blackfeather
'Volcanic Rock' (1973) by Buffalo - this album makes AC/DC sound like soft rock. An influence on US grunge bands.

Interesting you mention Zappa and the Velvets together. The sane Verve records A&R person signed both bands to Verve on reputedly the same day.

Try “Another day, Another Lifetime” by The David, Sam Gopal (wait until you see who was in that band), Th West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, and Plastic Cloud. Keep the videos going. It’s. Ice to see someone who can speak my language, musically speaking.

I’m not the most professional, but I just turn the camera on and talk About Records. I don’t plan anything out. Everyone does their own thing. Good luck! Hi Dillon - You often highlight VU featuring Nico, but then neglect to mention White Light White Heat, which is equally superb. Just sayin! I may have missed it elsewhere but Cauldron - 50 Foot Hose would be a recommendation of a cool Psych record way ahead of its time

I picked up a copy of JK & Co. for 97 cents in a cutout bin in the early 1970s. Love Mighty Baby. Love that cover. They did a second album called A Jug Of Love. It is a bit different. The story goes some of the members met Richard and Linda Thompson and like them became Sufis. That worked into some of the music. BTW - the last lineup of The Action became Mighty Baby.

Joe Byrd was the driving force behind The United States of America. He did one more album as Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies called The American Metaphysical Circus, which takes what he did with The USA to a much higher level. He took full advantage of studio special effects on the first three songs to make some of the trippiest acid psychedelic music of that period. I put it in a class with Mandrake Memorial's Puzzle album, Brainticket's Celestial Oceans, Pearls Before Swine's Balaklava, and Zero Time by Tonto's Expanding Head Band. ua-cam.com/video/A_fpsKTY2sw/v-deo.html

Giles, Giles, and Fripp were essentially King Crimson. When you look at the line up on Cheerful Insanity and the Brondsbury Tapes the lineup is almost the same. On one of the albums, Ian MacDonald does a couple of early renditions of I Talk To The Wind. BTW - The G in Giles is soft and pronounced like Jiles. Check out a post-Crimson album called McDonald and Giles, which features the two Giles brothers and Ian McDonald. It continues the G, G &F kind of odd whimsicality with some great prog and some symphonic rock. P.S. - After that album, McDonald joined Foreigner.

well declaring the first Soft Machine as prog is missing the point, the Softs were one of the early British psychedelic bands they appeared at the legendary UFO club in 1966/67 often playing with Pink Floyd,if anything the Softs were certainly more jazz influenced thaN a lot of other band, this first album is certainly a stand out,it has more in common with Terry Riley's minimalism than prog, besides Prog sounds like a disease.and wasnt pscyhedelia about expanding musical horizons and looking beyond the surface?

    • @richardfinlayson1524
      @richardfinlayson1524 3 роки тому

prog just means progressive, which all psychedelia is. doesnt really matter what you call it, a lot of so called prog is jazz rock.

Noble - Great video! I'm a new subscriber. I'll be checking out parts 1&3 next. Check out my replies to a couple of other comments, especially about Bubble Puppy, one of my most cherished albums. In reference to Gun, I found back then that one of the surest signs I would like an album I saw in the store, but had not heard, was if it had a cover by Roger Dean! 😍 He is one of my favorite artists and I have a majority of albums he did covers for, as documented in "The Album Cover Album" [I think that's right], a coffee table book about album cover art [I have a similar book that just covers Roger Dean art]. I once saw Roger Dean's original mural for the artwork of the Yes album "Relayer". It covered a huge wall at an exhibition at the Directors Guild headquarters in LA [Hollywood?] in the mid/late 90's. Anyway, Gun, Jade Warrior, Budgie, and several other excellent bands are ones I discovered because of Roger Dean's magnificent artwork! 😍

@@noblerecords Oh i know you didn't. And we can discuss until we're blue in the face with no resolution what is and isn't progressive rock. But imo CB is more in the blues based hard rock genre, while KC is probably one of the most experimental rock/blues/jazz bands there ever was. Just haven't thought that they were in the same landscape at all, but if you do that's fine 😊
