In regards to Transformers One, Josh Cooley, the director, talked in interviews about how the likes of Frank Herbert’s Dune novel, the movies of Ben-Hur (1959), Spartacus (1960) and Lawrence of Arabia (1962) influenced the film, and, how he wanted an all-star cast for the film. So, I, for one, wasn’t surprised when it turned out really rather excellent.
Honestly I'd also say Inside Out 2 was one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Didn't think it was going to be as good as it was due to Pixar's recent track record but was surprisingly great!
For me I’m going with Transformers One as my most surprising film this year. I nearly missed this one in theaters, but after positive reviews and a friend telling me it was peak I decided to see it, and man does it have one of the best final acts of the year. So gloriously epic and gorgeous to boot. It’s sitting well at #3 on my list this year. Some other movies that surprised me were Bad Boys 4, Smile 2, Terrifier 3, and The Apprentice having not been a fan of the previous films in those series. The Apprentice was a great display of acting from everyone involved.
Most surprising movies of 2024 for me... 1. Wicked 2. Transformers One 3. Twisters 4. The First Omen 5. Smile 2 6. Alien: Romulus 7. Strange Darling 8. Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes 9. Speak No Evil 10. Sonic The Hedgehog 3
My biggest surprises: 1. The Bikeriders 2. Hit Man 3. Kill 4. The Imaginary 5. Strange Darling 6. Let's Start a Cult 7. Transformers One 8. Rebel Ridge 9. Carry-On
Sean you have to check out Netflix's Carry-On Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman killed their roles and the movie had alot of people, according to reviews, on the edge of their seat. It was surprisingly solid for a netflix original
The films that most surprised me this year were (in no order): - Hundreds of Beavers 9/10, had no clue this was a thing, got it recommended, watched it, and now it’s one of my favorites of the year. - Sonic The Hedgehog 3 9/10, I knew it would be good. @@zackyyyy007 yeah, it certainly was great. The only reason I don’t is because I was curious when I first heard about it. After the first trailer I was looking forward to it but was a bit concerned. Then the second trailer came out and I was sold on it. Met my expectations I set after the second trailer, so that’s really why I didn’t put it
For me that's got to be Twisters. Going into to this I thought this film was going to be in my top 5, but not part of my number one favorite film this year. This film was so fantastic that it became part of my number one favorite film.
For me Transformers One was the biggest surprise of the year. I expected it to be good & enjoyable but it WAY exceeded that. Its now one of my fav animated films & fav films of the year. It's so frustrating that the film didn't do nearly as well as it should and could have. It baffles me that they marketed the film the way they did. The trailers seemed to focus on the generic children's humour and not at all on what made the film so great and interesting, which is of course the tragic story of two best friends who, through having different reactions to a huge exposed lie, ends up turning them to enemies. The story & villain was great, the animation was simply gorgeous. Hemsworth did a way better job as Optimus prime than I expected, he really sounded like a young Optimus. But man the 3rd act of this film, especially as a transformers fan, was just peak. It was full of so many powerful, well written and well directed scenes and dialogue that gave me goosebumps multiple times. I saw it twice in the theater and I very rarely do that.
Anora for me was the biggest surprise… watched it Saturday and was blown away, and then went with my son to check it out again on Sunday… great list Sean 👍👍
Here’s my picks for the most surprising movies of 2024… Wicked- I wasn’t that hyped for this since I’m not a musical fan but now I’m trying to get my mum and my sister to go to it. Transformers One- and I’m not really even a Transformers fan but I just had a blast with this. Carry On- when I first noticed it, I paid no attention to it, but my mum put it on and because I was bored, I watched it with her and it was actually pretty good. The Wild Robot- I had not been impressed with Dreamworks this year until this movie. Twisters- not sure what I expected from this but I got more than I thought. Abigail- I’m not the biggest horror movie fan, but this one surprised me as I enjoyed it more than I thought.
My 10 are 1-Late Night with the Devil 2-The First Omen 3-Immaculate 4-It Ends with Us (despite the drama and all, it was still a good film) 5-Gladiator 2 6-Scrambled 7-Ordinary Angels 8-The Book of Clarence 9-Hor Frosty 10-Knox Goes Away
The biggest shock for me was The Firing Squad. That movie really moved me and was way more emotional than I could’ve expected. Not my favorite film of the year, but the biggest surprise for sure.
Please watch better man. It’s a biopic about singer Robbie Williams but he’s played by a CGI monkey. Weirdly it might be my favourite film of 2024, which is hard to believe.
I think 10 years ago, 2014, was THE year that was defined by movies that exceeded everyone’s expectations in completely different directions. There were movies people expected to suck but they ended up launching beloved franchises: John Wick🔫, Guardians of the Galaxy🪐🚀, Paddington🐻🥪 and The Lego Movie🧱. Sequel movies that people were worried wouldn’t live up to the hype like Captain America: The Winter Soldier🦸♂️, 22 Jump Street🚏👮♂️, Dawn of The Planet 🌍 of The Apes 🦧, How To Train Your Dragon 2🐉, The Purge: Anarchy🇺🇸and X-Men: Days of Future Past⌚️🦸♂️. Movies that people immediately loved but are still underrated to this day like Edge of Tomorrow🦾🦿👽⌚️or The Book of Life💀🇲🇽. Movies that had some sort of gimmick like Boyhood or Birdman 🕊️🕴️. And even movies based on TV shows that people thought we wouldn’t see again in a new installment which are Veronica Mars🕵️♀️, Mr Peabody🐶& Sherman 👦⌚️and The Equalizer. I’ve thought about making a playlist of reviews for all of them but the difficulty is finding reviews from one critic each.
Yes I have a letterbox account. My handle is shared as one of my lower thirds at the beginning of my movie reviews. It's just my name. But I promote it on screen in a lot of my videos.
1 Immaculate 2 The First Omen 3 Oddity 4 Twisters 5 Salem's Lot 6 Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End 7 Bag Head 8 The Fall Guy 9 I Saw the TV Glow 10 Carry On
I disagree with you on Wicked. Not that it wasn’t good, it was amazing, but that it’s surprising that it was so good. Your conditions for being on your list were that it either came out of nowhere or it exceeded expectations. It certainly didn’t come out of nowhere, there were marketing campaigns for it everywhere and buzz was ablazing far before it premiered. Exceeding expectations is a bit more difficult to quantify, but even if you hadn’t seen the musical, the excitement of everyone should have told you it had potential to be big. As a movie guy who was surrounded by people who were excited for this film (your wife, daughter, and sister) you should have seen the success coming a mile away. It should not be a surprise to you that it achieved massive success or that you enjoyed it, but I’m glad you did nonetheless.
All the people I know ,none of them never even knew that it was a Broadway play, and most are not big musical fans, but all of them liked the trailwr so nobody, including me,were surprised that it was good..Unfortunally,it's not the big hit in Europe and the rest of the world, because most prople don't care aboit Wicked witch of ghe west, and those who didn't see the movie, said because ghey are sick of Hollywood making movies where the vilains were portrayed as good guy and the heroes as bad..like they did it with Cruella.People here hated that.
The Beekeeper was the first that came to mind before starting the video. A january release and i remember reading the description and not expecting much but its Statham so i watch and it was so much fun!
10: Anora: I was not aware of this before fantastic fest but after watching it I loved it 9: piece by piece: I did not think that I would like this from the trailer but when I watched it I was so surprised that I liked it as much as I did 8: the beekeeper: I wasn't sure what this would be and I found it to be an extremely fun action movie 7: longlegs: I was not expecting this movie but I went to see it and it was a surprisingly good serial killer thriller 6: carry on: I wasn't aware of this until it came out and I thought it was one of the best die hard rip offs that has ever been made 5: rebel ridge: like carry on didn't know anything about this but it was one of my favorite action movies of the year 4: Thelma: I didn't think this was going to be great but it was a great and heartfelt comedy 3: transformers one: the trailer wasn't very good but this is my favorite animated movie of the year 2: hundreds of beavers: this is possibly the best comedy of the year 1: wicked: I didn't think that I would love this because I wasn't a huge fan of the trailer but this is in my top 5 movies of the year
The substance was setting itself up to have an incredibly potent message about appreciating yourself even as you get old and not as desired as your younger self, to completely ruining it by going incredibly over the top with the ending. It should be on the disappointing list
A lot of surprises this year man! Working on my most surprising movies video later today! 🔥🔥 Some of mine: • The Wild Robot • War Of The Rohirrim • Nosferatu • Wolfs • BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE
Happy to see War of The Rohirrim on here. I was excited for it ever since I heard it tho, and was rooting for it even up to release. In my top 20 of the year personally :)
I was so incredibly impressed with Wicked. I genuinely anticipated it was a lame cash grab, but it was a perfect adaptation. Ariana did really good as Glinda, and the final number was PERFECT
My biggest surprise this year was Gladiator II. Unpopular opinion incoming, but, I was not a fan of the original 2000 film. However, the sequel was, in my view, an improvement in almost every way over the original.
My Biggest Surprises Of 2024 10: Young Woman And The Sea(I was expecting this film to be straight to Disney + garbage. And i actually thought it was very solid) 9: Hit Man(Glen Powell. Thats all that needs to be said) 8: Snack Shack(A classic 90's feel good, coming of age comedy) 7: LongLegs(What a pleasant surprise. Nicolas Cages crazy performance in this is pure comedy but also bone chilling and terrifying) 6: Transformers One(The best Transformers movie ever made) 5: Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes(I didnt think they could recapture the magic of the previous trilogy but it managed to do so) 4: Wicked(As someone who has never seen the stage play. This movie absolutely blew my expectations into orbit) 3: The Wild Robot(I knew from the teaser trailer that this movie was at least going to be a good movie. It just looked so charming. But man this movie did pretty much everything right) 2: Nosferatu(I've never seen the original Nosferatu. But THIS movie had such fantastic atmosphere, great acting by Lilly Rose Depp and an incredible transformative performance by Bill Skarsgard) 1: Look Back(This movie was not on my radar. Someone on Tik Tok told me to watch it. And this movie legitamately made me cry by doing such a good job of making the bond between the two main characters feel so believable)
Honestly for me it’s Nosferatu! I didn’t think it would live up to the hype, and since I like the Vampires and werewolves genre but I’ve never been scared by them I was hoping it would be good but was nervous about. And with hardly any jump scares that movie is beautifully terrifying, and I can’t wait to see it again! The runner up would be twisters, that movie is just wildly fun and I think even better than the first one.
My 10 favorite movies of 2024 ranked 10. The Beekeeper 9. Bad Boys: Ride or Die 8. Abigail 7. Deadpool and Wolverine 6. Aquaman 2 5. Wonka 4. Oppenheimer 3. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice 2. Twisters 1. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story
Agreed. Naomi Scott's performance was amazingly awesome. The problem is, the ending was a mess and it was ruined. The writers should have made her defeat the demon at the end, then that would make people satisfy and it would've been a great movie.
The Beekeeper... hmmm. "Bad Guy #1": I have a gun, but let me run up to you instead of shooting you. Jason Statham: Ahoy, I have disarmed you easily. "Bad Guy #2": I too have a gun, but let me run up to you instead of shooting you. Jason Statham: Hi-yah! I have disarmed you as well. ...continue for like 30 straight times... Like, come on. I wanted to like this movie, but the action scenes were just silly. Jason Statham played a convincing badass, but you really need to crank your Suspension of Disbelief up to 11 to enjoy this one.
My top 10 surprises 1. Longlegs(I thought it was going to be compete Dog 💩) 2. Madame Web: somehow, it was even WORSE than I anticipated, and I was expecting the worst . 3. Wicked(I hate musical musicals, liked this movie a lot. It didn’t hurt that I was getting head from my girl in the very back row during the first 20 min) 4. Kraven(I don’t know why my brain did this to me but I actually thought this was going to be a good movie. It wasn’t) 5. The Wild Robot(too awesome) 6. Heretic(expected boredom, was engaged from start to finish) 7. Deadpool and Wolvey: I thought Disney would 💩 the bed here. They didn’t. 8. Anything Rebel Moon: WTF has happened to Zack Snyder. JFC… 9. The black and white beaver movie- I can’t remember the name and I’m not gonna google it. It was funny 10. Bad Boys Ride or Die: again expected dog 💩, loved the movie.
My Biggest surprise films 2024 1. Wicked not relatively a fan of musicals, never seen the play. However, the wizard of Oz is a classic. The big blockbuster Oscar films don't always win me over, none of the trailers didn't sell me on it. After watching it absolutely mesmerizing, Cynthia erivo and Ariana grande were great casting choices as Glenda elphaba. The musical score were buildup so well, stunning visuals one of my favorite films for 2024. 2. Transformers One didn't believe we're gonna get any decent to good transformers adaptation whether it be the crappy live action ones from Michael bay or animation. This one felt very nostalgic like me watching the old films from the 80S kept it in modern time. 3. Twisters the trailers never sold me when I first saw it then more critics talk about gave it praise I say another disaster movie sequel. After seeing the cast following with the subplots pretty impressed with it overall. 4. The First Omen I'm not a fan of Nun films either going back to the conjuring universe prepared myself watch the previous Omen films. Gotta say this gave me goosebumps, captures the tension, paranoia that I wished the other films besides the original could've grasped. 5. Alien Romulus wasn't on my slate of Horror films to watch. Burned from the franchise just hadn't reached that potential. the first trailer felt generic but after seeing the second trailer shows the Xenomorphs, face hugger i was intrigued, the character Rain Android name andy pulled me in absolutely loved it. Pleasantly surprised the best one since the first 2 installments. 6. Inside Out 2 from Pixar previous track record didn't think it was going to be as good as its predecessor, nah it absolutely won me over the storytelling, character development and message about how to cope with & embrace you're emotions as Riley goes to another chapter in her life was solid 7. The Bikeriders 8. Bad Boys Ride or Die 9. Civil War 10. Wolfs
I came in to this year thinking Megalopolis was gonna be in the top 3 movies of the year and Wicked wouldn’t be even close to being Oscar nominated but boy was I wrong 😂😂😂😂
My top two biggest surprises of the year were the Megan Thee Stallion documentary on Amazon prime and smile 2 I knew of Megan Thee Stallion, but I didn’t really know anything about her, and it was a much better story and more in depth that I thought I was gonna be. As far as smile 2, I never saw the first one because it didn’t look great to me and I decided to see the sequel and it worked in all of the different ways that it could and Naomi Scott was amazing.
For me the biggest surprise of the year is Challengers. The trailer didn't look like something I would enjoy, but I was completely wrong. Ended up being tied for my favorite movie of the year along with Dune 2 (which was also kind of a surprise as it's a massive improvement from the first one an one of my favorite sci-fi movies ever).
The best surprise for me was War of the Rohirrim, becouse, with all those bad reviews I thought it would be awefull, but I actually liked it a lot. Also I didn't like the trailer at all,so the movie really surprised me.The sond was Count of Monte Cristo, the new French movie..It was great.
Okay I know this is Sean’s list of surprising movies that came out this year, but Sonic 3 deserves a spot on this list more than Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey 2! XP
My Top 10 Most Surprising Movies of 2024: 1. Immaculate (2024) 2. Turtles All the Way Down (2024) 3. The Wild Robot (2024) 4. Transformers One (2024) 5. My Old Ass (2024) 6. Wicked (2024) 7. Ultraman Rising (2024) 8. Inside Out 2 (2024) 9. Rebel Ridge (2024) 10. The Substance (2024)
My biggest surprises of the year: 3. The Greatest Hits Expectation: Looks like a cute streaming movie. Romance paired with time travel? And also the future Superman is in this? Alright, I'll watch it. Reality: The way they combined time travel with music felt so fresh and interesting. Screw it, I'm a softie. This movie made me wanna cry. 2. Challengers Expectation: Looks good. Will only watch this for Zendaya tho. It's not like tennis is THAT interesting. Reality: Amazing performances. Incredible soundtrack. One of the most exciting third acts of the year. Wow. Even saw it twice already. Zendaya deserves so much praise for her performance as Tashi Duncan (give her the Oscar). 1. Smile 2 Expectation: Smile is boring. What's even the point of doing a second one? It's not like it worked the first time. Probably just gonna be a repeat of the first movie, but with Naomi Scott this time. Eh, could be enjoyable due to Naomi being in it. Reality: I love this movie. Way scarier than the first one. An actual interesting main character, who isn't super annoying. They also expanded the lore in an interesting way.
In my opinion after Alien Prometheus and Covanent. I was going into Alien Romulus hesitant, since if Ridley Scott couldn’t bring back the franchise, nobody could. Alien Romulus turned out to be my favourite movie of 2024.
The most surprising to me was transformers one. The trailers made it look like a simple cashgrab comedy film that just wants new fans, but when i went and saw it, it became one of, if not is, one of my favorite movies of the year
Rebel Ridge was a most disappointing to me, that’s probably because it was hyped up by everybody else. In the end it felt too long, slow burn that fizzles out before firing.
Movie: Caddo Lake. I was expecting another generic, streaming horror movie; but instead what I got was this thought-provoking, mind-blowing, twisting thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Show: Agatha. With the track record of Marvel shows at that point, I had zero interest in Agatha going in and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't great or anything, but it was good, which is a far cry from what I expected
Rebel Ridge, Juror #2 and Gladiator 2 are probably my biggest surprises of the year. The substance would have to be my biggest disappointment. I felt it was very superficial and strangely seemed to blame the women for their obsessions. Didn't have a very good grasp of patriarchy imo

Sonic 3 actually surprised me the most. I knew it was gonna be good but I didn’t know it was gonna be like genuinely amazing

2. A Quiet Place: Day One
1. The First Omen
Biggest surprise for me: Best Christmas Pageant Ever
The biggest shock for me was The Firing Squad. That movie really moved me and was way more emotional than I could’ve expected. Not my favorite film of the year, but the biggest surprise for sure.
Ultraman Rising
Super Man The Christopher Reeves Story
Wallace And Gromit Vengence Most Fowl
Winnie The Pooh B&H II
Please watch better man. It’s a biopic about singer Robbie Williams but he’s played by a CGI monkey. Weirdly it might be my favourite film of 2024, which is hard to believe.
1. Twisters
2. Inside Out 2, Transformer One & Wild Robot
3. Alien Romulus
4. Monkey Man
5. Abigail
Fave catchphrases of Sean Chandler: But (dramatic pause) / So (dramatic pause)
Late night with devil is incredible
The Substance & The Wild Robot are what I would call biggest surprises for me
Hi Sean, love your videos! Do you have a letterboxd account? If not have you ever thought about getting one?
Yes I have a letterbox account. My handle is shared as one of my lower thirds at the beginning of my movie reviews. It's just my name. But I promote it on screen in a lot of my videos.
1 Immaculate
2 The First Omen
3 Oddity
4 Twisters
5 Salem's Lot
6 Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End
7 Bag Head
8 The Fall Guy
9 I Saw the TV Glow
10 Carry On
Biggest Surprises for Me:
The Substance
Superman Documentary
Smile 2
Longlegs
Bad Boys: Ride or Die
The Wild Robot
The Wild Robot changed my life! 🤣
Fly me to the moon was a very pleasant surprise for me
I would like to analyze why wicked worked while Cats failed.
Because it's Cats..I mean, people walk around in cgi cat costumes ,looked weird
What an awesome list. Gonna watch beekeeper and rebel ridge
10: Anora: I was not aware of this before fantastic fest but after watching it I loved it
9: piece by piece: I did not think that I would like this from the trailer but when I watched it I was so surprised that I liked it as much as I did
8: the beekeeper: I wasn't sure what this would be and I found it to be an extremely fun action movie
7: longlegs: I was not expecting this movie but I went to see it and it was a surprisingly good serial killer thriller
6: carry on: I wasn't aware of this until it came out and I thought it was one of the best die hard rip offs that has ever been made
5: rebel ridge: like carry on didn't know anything about this but it was one of my favorite action movies of the year
4: Thelma: I didn't think this was going to be great but it was a great and heartfelt comedy
3: transformers one: the trailer wasn't very good but this is my favorite animated movie of the year
2: hundreds of beavers: this is possibly the best comedy of the year
1: wicked: I didn't think that I would love this because I wasn't a huge fan of the trailer but this is in my top 5 movies of the year
22:06 “bad comedy”😂 perfect
The substance was setting itself up to have an incredibly potent message about appreciating yourself even as you get old and not as desired as your younger self, to completely ruining it by going incredibly over the top with the ending. It should be on the disappointing list
Good luck against West Brom tomorrow 🫡
I think wicked was the most surprising for me since I’ve never seen the play
Neither have I but I liked the trailer so I thought it would be good .
A lot of surprises this year man! Working on my most surprising movies video later today! 🔥🔥
Some of mine:
• The Wild Robot
• War Of The Rohirrim
• Nosferatu
• Wolfs
• BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE
Happy to see War of The Rohirrim on here. I was excited for it ever since I heard it tho, and was rooting for it even up to release. In my top 20 of the year personally :)
My Surprises
1. Deadpool & Wolverine
2. Wicked Part One
3. The First Omen
4. In the Land of Saints and Sinners
5. The Beekeeper
Definitely Transformers. I never seen anything from this series and it was one of my favorites of the year
Bad Boys, Wicked and Inside Out 2 surprised me 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like your list, and I really like the top two in your list, but personally, I would have swapped them around.
Sean curious as to why you haven’t watched any of The Chosen. Hoping after talking to Dallas you might give season 1 a look.
Haven’t seen any of these. Half I haven’t heard of. I’m just not into movies as much as I used to be. But I might look a couple of these up.
Good list mate good list not the best list but good list
My Biggest Surprises Of 2024
10: Young Woman And The Sea(I was expecting this film to be straight to Disney + garbage. And i actually thought it was very solid)
9: Hit Man(Glen Powell. Thats all that needs to be said)
8: Snack Shack(A classic 90's feel good, coming of age comedy)
7: LongLegs(What a pleasant surprise. Nicolas Cages crazy performance in this is pure comedy but also bone chilling and terrifying)
6: Transformers One(The best Transformers movie ever made)
5: Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes(I didnt think they could recapture the magic of the previous trilogy but it managed to do so)
4: Wicked(As someone who has never seen the stage play. This movie absolutely blew my expectations into orbit)
3: The Wild Robot(I knew from the teaser trailer that this movie was at least going to be a good movie. It just looked so charming. But man this movie did pretty much everything right)
2: Nosferatu(I've never seen the original Nosferatu. But THIS movie had such fantastic atmosphere, great acting by Lilly Rose Depp and an incredible transformative performance by Bill Skarsgard)
1: Look Back(This movie was not on my radar. Someone on Tik Tok told me to watch it. And this movie legitamately made me cry by doing such a good job of making the bond between the two main characters feel so believable)
YES OH MY GOD, LOOK BACK! DisneyNerd certified goated status forever in my book (you already were, but even more so now) 😂😁👍
@NinthShinigami Hahahaha 😂 Goated human being man ❤
Honestly for me it’s Nosferatu!
Some surprises for me:
Godzilla Minus One Minus Color
Alien: Romulus
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
My 10 favorite movies of 2024 ranked
10. The Beekeeper
9. Bad Boys: Ride or Die
8. Abigail
7. Deadpool and Wolverine
6. Aquaman 2
5. Wonka
4. Oppenheimer
3. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
2. Twisters
1. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story
Oppenheimer came out in 2023, and where’s Dune Part II?
Again, I didn't see it until 2024. That's why it's on the list. I rank them in the year I see them.
Furiosa surprised me a lot . I went in with 0 expectations
Smile 2 was a complete surprise for me at the theatre. Far better than the 1st one. Naomi Scott amazing performance should be recognise.
Agreed. Naomi Scott's performance was amazingly awesome. The problem is, the ending was a mess and it was ruined. The writers should have made her defeat the demon at the end, then that would make people satisfy and it would've been a great movie.
Sonic the hedgehog 3 for me!
(I expected it to be “good” I came out loving it!)
IF, Speak no Evil, Spaceman were all way better then I thought they were gonna be
Oddity was shockingly good
My top 10 surprises
1. Longlegs(I thought it was going to be compete Dog 💩)
2. Madame Web: somehow, it was even WORSE than I anticipated, and I was expecting the worst .
3. Wicked(I hate musical musicals, liked this movie a lot. It didn’t hurt that I was getting head from my girl in the very back row during the first 20 min)
4. Kraven(I don’t know why my brain did this to me but I actually thought this was going to be a good movie. It wasn’t)
5. The Wild Robot(too awesome)
6. Heretic(expected boredom, was engaged from start to finish)
7. Deadpool and Wolvey: I thought Disney would 💩 the bed here. They didn’t.
8. Anything Rebel Moon: WTF has happened to Zack Snyder. JFC…
9. The black and white beaver movie- I can’t remember the name and I’m not gonna google it. It was funny
10. Bad Boys Ride or Die: again expected dog 💩, loved the movie.
The biggest surprise of the year is you having a GF
My Biggest surprise films 2024
6. Inside Out 2 from Pixar previous track record didn't think it was going to be as good as its predecessor, nah it absolutely won me over the storytelling, character development and message about how to cope with & embrace you're emotions as Riley goes to another chapter in her life was solid
7. The Bikeriders
8. Bad Boys Ride or Die
9. Civil War
10. Wolfs
I came in to this year thinking Megalopolis was gonna be in the top 3 movies of the year and Wicked wouldn’t be even close to being Oscar nominated but boy was I wrong 😂😂😂😂
My top two biggest surprises of the year were the Megan Thee Stallion documentary on Amazon prime and smile 2
I knew of Megan Thee Stallion, but I didn’t really know anything about her, and it was a much better story and more in depth that I thought I was gonna be. As far as smile 2, I never saw the first one because it didn’t look great to me and I decided to see the sequel and it worked in all of the different ways that it could and Naomi Scott was amazing.
For me the biggest surprises were inside out 2 and the Wild robot
XP
I was very surprised by Babes. It was a lot funnier than I thought it would be.
Substance movie of the year
The First Omen is a great pick for this list. I went in with really low expectations coming off of another pregnant nun horror film in Immaculate.
Cool t shirt
My Top 10 Most Surprising Movies of 2024:
1. Immaculate (2024)
2. Turtles All the Way Down (2024)
3. The Wild Robot (2024)
4. Transformers One (2024)
5. My Old Ass (2024)
6. Wicked (2024)
7. Ultraman Rising (2024)
8. Inside Out 2 (2024)
9. Rebel Ridge (2024)
10. The Substance (2024)
Transformers one, speak no evil, first omen, alien romulus
My biggest surprises of the year:
3. The Greatest Hits
Expectation: Looks like a cute streaming movie. Romance paired with time travel? And also the future Superman is in this? Alright, I'll watch it.
Reality: The way they combined time travel with music felt so fresh and interesting. Screw it, I'm a softie. This movie made me wanna cry.
2. Challengers
Expectation: Looks good.
1. Smile 2
Expectation: Smile is boring.
I loved transformer one marketing lol
I 🥰 the wild 🤖 🤖
The most surprising to me was transformers one. The trailers made it look like a simple cashgrab comedy film that just wants new fans, but when i went and saw it, it became one of, if not is, one of my favorite movies of the year
Wicked, The Turtles movie and The Substance for me
Turtles movie?
Do you mean the animated ninja turtles movie? That was 2023.
@ omg was it really??? Dude time has been an absolute blur since covid started.
Rebel Ridge was a most disappointing to me, that’s probably because it was hyped up by everybody else. In the end it felt too long, slow burn that fizzles out before firing.
Hey Sean did you catch Squid Game Season 2?
@@themadtitan227 no. I haven’t seen squid game season 1
I liked wicked
Considering romance movies definitely aren't my favorite genre, "We Live in Time" was the biggest surprise of the year.
My honorable mentions
1. Joker 2
2. Madame Web
3. Civil War
4. Salem's Lot
5. Trap
6. Borderlands
7. Maxxine
8. Hot Frosty
Are these ones that surprised you how bad they were?
They were the ones that had potential, but just didn't get there.
@@billymoore7182 ah ok, he made a video on those where he mentions a lot of these!
@@billymoore7182 oh and I totally agree with Civil War, might honestly be the best shot movie I’ve ever watched, it just had no plot
Nice
Hundreds of Beavers
Furiosa
Civil War
Challengers
Hit Man
Transformers One
I thought Kraven the hunter was one of them.
Arthur the king
