    "From the Classroom to the Courtroom" is the book they're using. Another great book would be... " Introduction to Court Interpreting".

    Excellent job, ladies. I too am studying Court Interpretation. It is not easy and I can tell you have good technique. The legal language is the hardest part and pf course, recalling it quickly. Of course, the dreaded short term memory is also tough so good notes are essential. Keep at it. The oral state test is infamously difficult. Best of luck.

    It doesn't matter what book it is. To be certified it's more who you know than what you know.

Animo muchachas..buen trabajo!!!

    just a heads up there are some mistranslations for example competencia is not competency it is competition you should use capacidad or facultad mental. aside from that great vid where did you get the legal texts??? you are also both quite cute if i may say so.

      There is no need for school, In California you only need to have a High school Diploma to be able to take the Written and oral exam needed to become certified and work as a court interpreter.
      Just buy the book they are using in the video and look online for lists of legal vocabulary; idioms, slang, legal terms, (especially those in Latin and French like "non contendre" "voire dire').
      Written exam is all English and has to be completed first before you're eligible for the oral. After passing the tests you have to take some ethics courses and submit your application along with some fingerprints and passport photo. It's all layed out in the application. Look up Simulataneous, consecutive, and sight interpretation. Practice practice practice.

    Both of translations are quite poor, I would brush up and read books in Spanish. And another bit of advice is don’t say “um” even if you’re in practice, you’re so accustomed to saying it, it might slip out in court.

    • @jordyliterario
      @jordyliterario 6 років тому +1

      I didn't watch the whole video, but according to your comment, the translation is okay. Bachillerato can never be a bachelor's degree since the later is a "título de grado (pregrado)."

    • @lorrainezopo1171
