Give him whatever he wants. Strider, Fried, Sale, Lopez, and Morton (Or any of the young pitchers) is a great rotation. Make it happen. Honestly, with Kelenic playing well and everyone signed for a few more years or even more, what else do we need? Spend the money in 2025 on Fried! I know he wants to play in California, but we need him here!
Max Friend is not what you think he is. Just go look at his stats. Friend is 69-31 in 149 Starts over the 8 seasons with Atl. He is 2-5 in 7 Postseason Starts & his postseason ERA is horrendous. His best season in Atl was 17-6 in 2019. As a lifelong Braves fan at 46 I know how Braves fans are. We embrace these players like Family but Max Friends hype is bigger than his production & you can't invest 30 Million into a pitcher that gets worse in the Postseason. Right now in 2024 Friend is our 3rd best active pitcher behind Sale & Lopez.
I’m not a fan of AA. He should have extended Freeman, Swanson, and Fried after the World Series victory, when it became apparent the cash flow would support the deals. The Braves will not have enough pitching to compete for the WS in 2025.
I wouldn't pay him what his agent is obviously demanding. I honestly would look at moving him at the deadline if I could get some long term options. Max Fried is a household name in Atl but his time here has only produced 69 Wins in 149 Starts & he's missed a good bit because of his Injuries. Max Fired has 2 Wins in 7 Postseason Starts & his ERA in the Postseason is not good. I bet most Braves fans would be shocked if they really looked at his career stats with Atl because the Perception doesn't fit that Reality. It's not personal its business & if Max Fried would take less to stay in Atl then it would be good but a Max or Near Max contract isn't warranted in my opinion.
Who wouldn't want to come home to sunny California 😂 Dodgers aren't necessarily meeting expectations at the moment but he knows they will be a contender every year, and he gets to play for his hometown team. Freddie did it, and he's genuinely happy to end his career in Dodger blue
I dont see how they can afford to let him go. After all these good contracts theyve signed players to not keeping fried would undermine the whole thing. If the GM has been wiling to pay charlie morton 20m a year how is fried not worthy of more? They were willing to sign Aaron Nola so how would they not offer Fried the same or more? He is on a whole other level to Nola.
Why is it that when a team slumps not one or two players an entire team…something looks corrupt here and it shows at times when players only hustle 2 innings out of 9 every game..with this said the lineup Braves have that includes DL / IL players why would fried look elswhere for work unless FRIED KNOWS SOMETHING after the IL or DL players not playing are going elsewhere?
I can't see Morton coming back. Doesn't that free up a big chunk of change? Give him a 3 year deal, pay him $100m. He's an elite lefty. He's been a warrior brave in the trenches.
He has his house listed on zillow lol. And no nobody should take a "team friendly deal" professional baseball is a business and should be treated as such.
I could see Max leaving a little money on the table to come back if the Braves come close to other teams, but I don't see them doing it. Max deserves a payday and it's going to be hard seeing him pitch for someone else.
There is ZERO percent chance he stays and I don’t blame him. He has a chance to make stupid money after this season and he should go for it. My family has met him and he was super nice to us, he shook hands with my son and he has been my son’s favorite Brave since. No reason he shouldn’t test the market and take the biggest contract that’s put in his face. Just don’t lie like Freeman did and pretend you were lied to and that you wanted to stay in Atlanta (good riddance)
Yes he is! Leaving ATL Period. If I was a betting man I will put money on this! For sure! If braves want Freid back on ATL they would have extended him already or offer something already they wouldn't wait for him to hit free agency. This is very simple don't know why people make this do complicated. If the braves really want him they will make him an offer he can't refuse.
He is GONE... no doubt about it. West coast bound, back home for Max. Unless the Braves throw alot more money into it, but i think Max has priced himself out of Atlanta
Freeman was getting a similar deal from the Braves, but his agent pushed it too far so the Braves let freeman walk. They then made the trade for Matt a few hours later. Freddie didn’t know until he saw about the trade the Braves made for Matt Olson.

We don't know what the Braves have offered him. You would think it was at least what the rumor was they offered Nola, 6-$162.
I’d imagine so. But, Nola was also testing free agency…Fried will likely do so as well.
The Braves better not low ball him with a BS offer. You don’t find pitchers like him very often!! Step up

Yes, i fully expect this season to be Fried's swan song (for his Braves career). Such a shame. No matter what happens, he'll always b a Brave to me

He’ll be gone, Braves management has proven that there’s no loyalty for years of service. Next season he’ll likely be a Dodger, Mets, or Phillie.
Atleast we can use the money from his contract on Acuña+Albies

Too early to know. All speculation. 🤷

Unless the Braves are going to pay over $200 million, Fried won't be back.
Max Fried was on a Dansby Swanson's podcast a few months ago. Once I saw him there with Dansby I felt he was never taking a team friendly deal.
I don’t expect him to stay. He’s maybe the best lefty in the game and looking to get paid. If he wants 30-35 a year I think it’s out of our reach
This didn't age well Fried is mid
Lets let the not signing of Freeman go. Freeman got GREEDY, it was his fault he isn't in Atlanta.
Is it though? His deal with LA looks better for their franchise every day.

Max fried is overrated
