@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS we bought the 1st one and couldn’t find a place to store it. We hate HOA’s! Placed it in an rv resort and did arb&b while we weren’t using it. thats awesome you have so many, i wouldnt mind having a collection myself, some on seasonal sites, 1 or 2 to travel with. very cool. I will check out Outdoors RV today!
I placed six inch EternaBond on the outside walls and front and rear with four inch around the AC, skylight and all roof vents . After letting it cure I followed up with five coats of Extreme Elastomeric rubber roof coating. That was three years ago and today it looks and works like I just put it on! One of the best things I have done for the protection of our RV and our peace of mind.
Thanks for the update. I did the perimeter of my roof a year and a half ago and it looks like the day I put it on. Your original video was one of my inspirations to Eternabond my roof.
Thank you for showing this. I live full time, stationary, in my 1998 Jayco Eagle, for nearly 2 years. The first year I had someone who works are RVs seal everything and last fall he did the same thing. This year, with Helene, I had leaks in my kitchen, including one that came in the kitchen ceiling light fixture. My contact had his car and truck caught under one of the fallen trees. So I am looking at something a little more permanent. I have SPMS and have limited mobility, so I can't do the work myself, however, I can do the research and hope to find someone who will use the product I buy to install/apply to my Little Home. Your research and application has helped in making a decision of the product to use. Thanks!!!!
Great video. I used eternabond on my motorhome too. However I also used lap sealant to cover edges and paint the roof with Dicor. Have it for three years, no pealing or cracking. Great product. And also yes, never use acetone on tpo or epdm roof. It will eat it momentarily. I used mineral spirit and denatured alcohol.
Thanks for the update, your video inspired me to use it on my brand new Tt a year ago, and its been the best investment. Keep doing great videos and helping the RV newbies 👍🏽
Thank you! We just got a used Rv and are needing to wash and seal the roof! So so so appreciate these videos. Newly subscribed. I'll check out some more of your videos. THANK YOU!
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS yes thank you! My husband washed the roof and let it dry really well and put the Eternabond on it and I think it's gonna work great… He said the only problem is it is super super sticky lol but that's a good thing.
Thank you for all the information! I’m going, in two weeks, to pick up my new RV Trailer (2024 Arctic Fox 25R)! I have learned a lot and look forward to seeing new videos!
We just finished applying Eternabond tape to our travel trailer roof. All of the lapseal joints as well as the front, back and side roof seams. What a great product. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have seen others applying Eternabond tape on their slideout roof (sides and outside edge) . What are your thoughts on this?
thank you, i have not done anything on the slide out since it wasnt really needed, so I cant personally tell you how it would hold up. however i havent heard any complains about it being on the slide either.
After watching your first video it got me to research Eternabond. Then I talked to my roofer about it. I finally pulled the trigger and did the roof on my rig this spring. You weren't wrong, the stuff is amazing. I've used it in the past on metal roof fixes but never thought to use it on my camper.
New Sub here. Soon to be a camper owner and this site is a great find! In the construction industry, there are similar products referred to as "Peel&Stick" or "Ice&Shield". I'm Very familiar with this and you nailed the installation process as Eterna Bond is of that family. I'll be scouring your site for all the Tips & Tricks I can find. Well Done, Thanks.
I feel if I do it, it will not be as perfect as yours 😅 I need to grow some confidence on my DIY 😅 It looks amazing everytime I see your eternabond update I just want to do mine.
take your time, I promise you can make it look better than mine. I actually rushed when I did the cuts. I took my time applying it, but wish I made my cuts cleaner.
Ross, love the videos 👍🏻. My question is can I use eterna bond to install a skylight, would be a new install for over my shower so i can gain some headroom,,,,, i feel like a Giraffe in a phone booth. LOL thanks again for all your help
Eternabond can be used as a stand alone sealant. as long as the skylight is mounted firmly and isnt going anywhere, you can then seal it with eternabond. Just dont use the eternabond as the "glue" or mounting method of attaching the skylight to the RV.
mineral spirits. I'd try to scrape it down to where its relatively flat, then use the solvant to get residue off. if you cant get all the traces of it off, i wouldnt worry too much about it. as long as its flat and dry. you might be able to clean it off with a low powered pressure washer. i actually clean my roof with a small electric power washer. its only 1600 PSI if i remember correctly.. I remember thinking I should have gotten a more powerful one when I bought it, but happy its a low pressure model, its pretty hard to damage anything that you can with a 3000 PSI washer. amzn.to/4eHqCAl
I’m definitely going to be using this on my roof. I’d suggest washing the roof with dish soap instead of traditional automotive soap that usually contains wax.
Thinking of atleast doing this on my "camping side". Saw a small drip of water coming from under the bottom of the gutter trim under the awning and down the side of the siding.
it may help, but mine does this on the camping side too, it drove me nuts. so i started looking at it during a rain storm and the problem is these gutters are not installed in 1 piece, they are glued together. it makes no sense why they do this. i have to add sealant inside the gutter where they were glued together after a few years. BUT, you can only put so much in there so you dont interfere with the water traveling through. its annoying. the eternbond will stop it from getting behind the gutter, but it may be leaking from inside the actual gutter.
Yep....exact same experience twice. No damage/failure after 7 years with my last coach and going strong now after 4 years on my current coach. I think the big difference is when people think ALL roof tape is the same, it is not! The brand Eternabond is fantastic. Cleaning and prep is key. I did remove most of the failed Dicor and I also used rubbing alcohol for final cleaning of the roof surface. Seems to me only the "Techs" here on the Tube are the one that don't like it.....hmmm....wonder why? Perhaps a loss in easy repeat roof maintenance business? IDK...just sayin'
theres about 11 different manufacturers of seal tape, last time i counted, and my question is always "how do you know it was eternabond?" so yea, im going to definitely agree with you. you cant say this stuff is ridiculously difficult to remove and that it peels up in the same sentence. also, prep and proper application is everything. thanks for sharing your experience!
i havent but others have. i would not apply it on a vertical surface unless it was folded over onto a horizontal surface. because the sealant stays pliable, it will sag over time if strictly on a vertical surface.
Great video as usual Ross. I have applied lap sealant yearly to my 2018 TT but want to use this tape as an additional insurance policy so I believe you indicated wait 60 days if new lap sealant applied? Live up here in Manitoba, Canada so cold weather usually starts in early October. I may than just apply the tape, round corners and seal the tape edges with lap sealant as I have plenty of that. Other question Ross; is there good reviews using that RV rubber roof sealer?? Very pricey. Thanks.
30 days in the summer here its fully cured. It might not be a bad idea to reach out to the manufacturer of the sealant you use and see how long they say it will take to fully cure. rubber roof... ive heard good things about henrys tropicool, as well rv armor (expensive). i personally have never used one so I cant give my opinion on them just yet. knowing how long a rubber roof will last with proper cleaning, im not sure they are necessary, but i dont think they are a bad idea either. hope that helps.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS just ordered 4" for the roof and like you will do 2" for the gutter sides. I will put lap sealant along the edges of the tape as I have spare tubes to use. Cheers and thanks!!
What are your thoughts on removal of old lap sealant on rubber or TPO roofing? Resealing with new lap sealant and eternabond tape after? Or eternabond tape direct over old lap sealant after cleaning?
Thats fine, as long as the lap sealant you are covering is healthy. I will probably remove all lap sealant on my next RV and cover seams with just Eternabond. It looks cleaner, and easier to get flat.
I know this is an older video, but i watched your original on the eternabond application and was wondering why you used 2 inch on the sides and not 4 inch? Other than the obvious of cost? I want to do this, but wondering if i should use 2 or 4 on sides?
I just bought my TT in August. I think it’s about a year old in terms of when it came out of the factory. I don’t see any damage to the roof. It’s also cold temps/winter now. Is this a good time to seal it / is the eternabond something that can only be applied in warm weather?
you can do it whenever you want, as long as the lap sealant is healthy and everything is clean. I plan on doing it immediately after getting our new trailer next year.

I remember thinking I should have gotten a more powerful one when I bought it, but happy its a low pressure model, its pretty hard to damage anything that you can with a 3000 PSI washer. amzn.to/4eHqCAl
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS thanks!
I’m definitely going to be using this on my roof. I’d suggest washing the roof with dish soap instead of traditional automotive soap that usually contains wax.
👍
I did my roof last Year .looks like I did it yesterday! Great product well worth the $ and time.
thanks for the info Lee!
Thanks for the update
welcome
Awesome, we just did our roof.
nice, keep me posted on what you think.
Excellent video
thank you Lance!
Would most likely be good to install on a sunny summer morning and the the heat of a hot afternoon seal it beyond removal.
yes, no rain, and start in the morning. I talk about this in the first video. ua-cam.com/video/mKMlr4cP9Oo/v-deo.html
Thanks Ross👍🏻
you bet!
Are you able to apply the Etrnabond on the slide as well. Wasn’t sure if the sliding in and out works effect the Etrnabond by peeling it up
i havent but others have. i would not apply it on a vertical surface unless it was folded over onto a horizontal surface. because the sealant stays pliable, it will sag over time if strictly on a vertical surface.
Great update
thank you
Great video as usual Ross.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Hey thanks Ross. Helps indeed.
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS just ordered 4" for the roof and like you will do 2" for the gutter sides. I will put lap sealant along the edges of the tape as I have spare tubes to use. Cheers and thanks!!
take your time, keep everything flat!
Thank you
welcome!
Yep. 4 yrs and still on mine.
nice, thanks for sharing Mark
What about tarps ? Isn't an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure ?
tarps can trap condensation. if you want to cover the rv when its not in use, something that is breathable will work a little better.
Can I roll my silicone roof coating over the tape? Or should I roll first then apply tape?
I would tape first. once you lay silicone on your roof, nothing else is every going to stick to it.
I know this is an older video, but i watched your original on the eternabond application and was wondering why you used 2 inch on the sides and not 4 inch? Other than the obvious of cost? I want to do this, but wondering if i should use 2 or 4 on sides?
no need for 4". I only wanted to go half way down the gutter trim insert, and going any further on the membrane doesnt accomplish anything.
I apologize if this concern has already been addressed. Is eternabond hard to remove if I had to replace my skylight, and how would you go about it?
no need to apologize. i address how i would remove it in this video. ua-cam.com/video/f4YXYYWWtbA/v-deo.html
Love the John Wick shirt!
Thanks!
I just bought my TT in August. I think it’s about a year old in terms of when it came out of the factory. I don’t see any damage to the roof. It’s also cold temps/winter now. Is this a good time to seal it / is the eternabond something that can only be applied in warm weather?
wait until you get around the 60-70 degree mark.
What width Eterna bond tape do you recommend?
all the sizes I used are in the first video: ua-cam.com/video/mKMlr4cP9Oo/v-deo.html
How long after buying a new RV would you do this
you can do it whenever you want, as long as the lap sealant is healthy and everything is clean. I plan on doing it immediately after getting our new trailer next year.
Will eternabond work on metal roof
yes
Good Stuff
thank you!
Did you put it on the slide out?
i did not, the factory butyl tape on my slide outs is holding up fine.
I don’t know if there is a quality between brands of Tabon tape, but mine didn’t even last one year it bubbled leaked cracked
I’d bet the farm that you used an off brand if that happened after a year.
You working out bro? Looks like you lost some weight. Thanks for another update.
haha, i have lost a little weight working outside on a new parking pad... just trying to stay healthy despite my addition to chocolate ice cream. 🤣
