GREAT drummer, AND I want to compliment the brass boys. Perfect horns! 🙂
Yes-the drummer is amazing.
@@sghall1968 Yes
Don't care much for the vocals here, but that drummer is on point. Technically perfect on this shuffle is hard enough -- playing it with the Porcaro feel is above and beyond.
100% agree sir. Vox are squirrely, rest of band is spot on tight and accurate.
the drummer 💥
Damn talented musicians right here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The drummer truly was the star of this video, Jeff Porcaro would have been proud, he was beating them drums like they owed him money. Excellent job. He absolutely nailed it, great tone, nice fills, and timing.
Yeah I've been recently trying to learn the Rosanna Shuffle on drums after a 25 year hiatus from playing and it is a deceptively hard groove to get right and this guy nails it like it was easy as pie. What's sad is the casual music listener just hears a "pop-rock" beat and doesn't realize what's going on with the grace notes and the smooth stamina in the right hand. This guy has it down pat.
@@Sugarsail1 I am not a musician, but i know music. And you're right the casual listener won't hear that. Bernard Purdie is another great drummer (the Purdie shuffle) not sure if Jeff Porcaro got it from him or not, doesn't matter they both are phenomenal drummers. Check out Steely Dan's Deacon Blues, Bernard Purdie was the drummer on that song, another great drummer is Jim Keltner.
Joel could play this stuff with seemingly ease of falling off a log when he was in Jr high. Granted, he lived all things drums n has always been very dedicated to practicing. Still, a little freak of nature. Nicest guy you could ever meet too
@@Bluesman57 Jeff knew the Purdie Shuffle well and where it came from. Incorporated it on purpose. That's not a slam on Purdie nor on Porcaro ... the saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" has truth in it and comes most likely from the entertainment industry. Porcaro was knowledgeable about 20th century pop music to a degree that few could match at his age. The bass drum part was adapted from Bo Diddley and Jeff's genius was in combining the two and seeing its usefulness for the tune Paich had written. The instructional video from 1986 where Jeff discusses this is findable here on YT.
Drummer went full Porcaro mode on this one. Such a solid centerpiece to this production and that shuffle is PERFECTION.
I'd give this two thumbs up if I could. Great comment!
i was about to say the same
Love that drumstick FLIP! Yeah man!!
I'm 68, and dig the way All these cover bands are playing all the hits from the 70's, and 80's, almost fifty years ago and these songs and sounds can't be beat. Man I lived in a great time of bands and music, and even got to go to some of the concerts to watch them in their prime!"👍😊💯
Ohhhhhhh myyyyyyyy goshhhhhhh this was amazing
Great Drummer!
Rickae and Jordan absolutely nail this cover. Love it. Sound so good together.
yup so awesome
Drumer, uhhh.. man, that dude... even had some tricks... :) I love BASS!
OH GOD !!!!! I REALLY LOVE THE DRUMMER VEEEEERRRRRY MUCH !!!!!
I heard nothing but perfection. I have listened to this song 100s of times since it first played on the radio. I know EVERY note, beat, phrase and it is not merely a replica of the original, though almost every detail was there, you guys made this your own without abandoning anything from the original. This is probably the best cover of this I ever heard, and I gotta say, that freaking drummer is a machine and would have made Jeff so proud!! The vocals were ecstasy... and that lead guitar gave me chills, dude! The brass brought the exact vibe and those keys were so in the groove. I am blown away as you can tell by my rambling, and I RARELY give a cover this kind of praise. I've been playing almost 50 years and I have my own humble studio, and the production on this is phenomenal. Subscribed and I will be listening to this again and again. Bravo!!!
Thank you for the kind words Peter!
All the best to you!
Joel
Everyone giving the drummer love (deserved) but the guitarist absolutely 100% on tone and execution on that solo.
yep
TOTO-lly agree
Had to be said. Great leads.
And the keyboards!! 😮
Agree. Not easy. Absolutely
That drummer is INSANELY good and beat-for-beat perfection. Overall this engaging performance knocked it out of the park, great job one and all on one of my fav 'oldie' tunes. Vocals were a 10 for sure, great lead and great backing vocals! Loved this rendition!
2:27 :)!
Guy is a monster player...love it!
Perfection...wellll...no. But good.
Called "The Rosanna Shuffle" named and created by Totos' drummer Jeff Porcaro. A half time shuffle with a heavy jazz influence.
@@Phil-pq4ks There's always that one guy.
Magnific !
hell ya guys great job rock on
Whats cool to me is the band genuinely looks like they are having a good time, and look to effortlessly laying down an awesome track.
The drums are the glue here, keeps everyone stuck together. BRAVO FREE RADICALS very well done.!!!
I think the reason I've watched this 100 times is because the band really looks like they are having fun. Oh, and the lady. Her too 😀
Oh yeah, definitely her too 😍
Very nice!
Phenomenal! Everyone was spectacular.
That "shuffle" is how I rate a drummer. Superlative! Nailed it!
Please give the sound guys some props - they spend tons of time setting up and dialing in the sound, always behind the scenes, and should not be forgotten for their talents
Okay, the guitar guy blew my mind. Great job all!
THEY ALL NAILED IT!!!
This was awesome❤
I cannot for the life of me understand where the music like this is today. like....someone has to be out there in this big ole world .
Check out Rick Beato’s channel for some great content about WTF happened to music over the past 20 years.
I'm a musician (drummer) and I think I could speak for other musicians here - this is a phenomenal cover...
(As a drummer) the drummer was so spot on...every other musician made this song shine...the production is great...
I'm a guy, and (as a born-again believer) I prefer to be respectful about women...the female lead is quite attractive - and I must confess that her beauty and her spirited performance helped to kick-it-up-a-notch for me...the male lead singer was great, too (he is handsome, so perhaps he might kick-it-up-a-notch for the female viewers!)...anyway, their harmonizations really enhance the vocals...
This is the best cover that I've seen for this song...in fact, because everyone looks like they are having such a great time, I may prefer to watch this cover over Toto's live version…🙂
Everyone...spot on. That was fun to watch all the way around. Drummer...what up!! that dude is for real!!
Right up there with Leonid and Friends Chicago cover!
Man.....Thats great!
Drummer has the most challenging role with this song. That shuffle isn't easy to play. Brilliant job!
I think I've watched this video a thousand times. Toto never enough! Congrats to the band, awesome !!!!!!
Fantastic cover of a classic! Porcaro would be proud to see his legacy living on!
Brilliant!!!
Wow, flawless cover. Everyone rocks. Porcaro drums is the topping.
Drums spot on. Excellent job by everyone.
Very nice, That Drummer is 100% Awesome
Drummer is incredible. Fantastic.
Crisp
Clean
Tight
Just, wow!
Bravo!
Rocked it. Drummer cool
awsome drumming. Just perfect.
If you can play drums like Jeff Pocaro then you have achieved greatness. Great work sir.
I’ll second that!
Drummer is the star of this video
Agree. Drumming was spot on
Hell Yes.🐣
Not even close to Pocaro. Where's the shuffle???
The groove the drummer creates with that ride cymbal is insane.
No words are adequate for this! Everyone is awesome, but that drummer was sick! He brings it all together, and the drums sound amazing!
In that Jeff has passed, this is the greatest form of flattery. My gosh this drummer is fantastic and his interpretation of Jeff is spot on. 👍👍👍
IMO snare don't sounds any good, no punch and over compressed.
Snare sounded awesome! The whole band sounded awesome! And they had fun doing it😀
Superb. Just superb.
amazing drummer
As a veteran performing keyboardist and now audio engineer, I'm not easily impressed, but you all impressed the daylights outa me! Every single one of you is top-notch!
yes this is great
Why such a snobby comment. Nobody cares about your musical background. You like it or you don't.
@Jeremy Wade that wasn't a snobby comment. He was complimenting them and adding context as a musician with a professional background. Smh
Also a veteran keyboardist with some producer credits, I’m the same. The musicianship was top notch. The female vocals could have been dropped a few db in the mix, and some of the lower harmonies up a couple, but this was TIGHT! (Loved the stick flips off the snare). Keyboardist nailed the synth parts both sound and action.
@@jeremywade6986 You are the snobby comment. The guy gave context that bolstered his compliments.
Steve's guitar solo. NAILED! Note for note! Crushed it!
Heck yeah!!!!
Really good job here!
Gotta give it up. Great job!!😄
That dude has a KILLER voice. Everyone in this band is a mega talent, but that guy is so unique.
Great sound, great vocals great horn section, great drummer, great keyboards, great guitars......super great cover !!!
YEA! What a proud feeling to see yet ANOTHER Fabulous group of superlative musicians and vocalists from here in America. The stick flip was icing on the "WE GOT THIS" cake! I sure hope it was as much fun for you all as it was watch and hear. Thanks also to the engineering folks for doing such a great job recording Rosanna
Brilliant drummer.
Wow. Never realized just how important the drum parts were to the magic of this amazing song.
Everyone was just first class but the drummer on this one did a perfect job of keeping the meter rolling. Real fun to watch-Mark
Daaaaaaamn. No slouches in this bunch. That's how you do that.
THIS GROUP JUST NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!
BRAVO👍👌👍👌👍
Damn! That was smokin' you all! Keyboards were great! Drum tones were awesome. Horns were terrific!. Bass line awesome. And that guitar lead! Dude! You nailed it, man! I think Lukather would give you a nod on that one. I like how you all are set in a circle and you can all see each other face to face. I think that does something that just brings you all together more. Makes your music tighter. As a drummer I know I would like that.
Great job making all the parts distinct, as well as those incredible harmonies!
..well, this drummer is focused. Yeah, great job everyone!
Not too many drummers could even approach Porcaro’s epic riff in this song…props to him and the rest of the band, very well done.
Drummer is spot on! Ghost notes and all!
Niiiicely done!!! great players all of them, outstanding vocals and a excellent job of the Porcaro shuffle. Bravo!
Unbelievably good. Yes, this drummer is central to everything. What a rock. But what a fantastic group of musicians. I'm so glad that UA-cam threw this one at me. Just viewed other comments and see that I'm not alone in my drummer comments.
Nailed it!. The Drummer is ACE. Thank you.
Very Nice Congrats
Obviously they all nailed it. Let's just remember one thing that's going on here. They are all having a blast doing it. It sounds absolutely magnificent but people in a world with full of Filth, They're having fun. Plus, they are putting smiles on all our faces. Hats off. Keep the music alive
Nice job. Rosanna shuffle is not easy!
All’ wonderful…!! Drummer….🔝🔝
Jeff is always going to be a legend but this guy nailed it
This was bad ass musicians doing their thing. Drummer is awesome. Horn section rocking. Great vocals. tight band. Love you guys.
Just imagine being part of that group who make such amazing music..... I would die happy.
Agreed bro!!
Did you even listen to the entire song?
@@andyharpist2938
I’m thrilled just listening to them. Toto sounds almost as good!
But these guys and gal are more fun to watch. Screaming guitar solos!
@@markklein437 Try this for class!....ua-cam.com/video/a1zNRIs0OiM/v-deo.html
Outstanding performance - perfection!
Fantastic. Thank you so much for that fantastic recreation of a time long past.
Wow I've never liked hearing that song on the radio but I suddenly like it now. That was great!!
Really great. Everyone including Stoker White. Every drummer will tell you this song sorts the wheat from the chaff. Joel is obviously wheat. Excellent guitar solo. The vocals are just spot on. Jordan and Rickae - husband and wife? excellent!!
Agreed. One of the best covers in a long while (for me personally).
This is so good that I have tears in my eyes. And I am not kidding.
Sharp cover of a great song. Tight, meaty drums, spot on vocals, and the brass section adds the perfect punctuation!
This was spectacular! congrats!
Right off the bat, I looked at my son (who is a drummer) and said “dang - guy certainly has Jeff’s Rosanna Shuffle down.” Kudos to the drummer, and all members of the band. Impressive cover.
Simply an amazing cover. Note for note. Bar for bar. It really highlights what an amazing band Toto was and what skill level is needed to reproduce their sound. RIP Jeff Porcaro.
Great coverband. Beautiful.
awesome team! loved this version - drummer and guitarist on point
If you nail the drums you nail this song…. They did.!
I get the chills when I hear fantastic music. I am a retired musician, * if there is such a thing! this was way beyond beautiful, and way beyond anything I expected. Does anyone else get the chills when they hear something perfect, or is it only me? It makes my whole body tingle. You all did a great job. This was wonderful!!!
Spot on Paul - I remember the 45 minute drive home after going out in the mid 70's with the V8 sound on the outside and TOTO as loud as possible on the inside - this cover was so good I did get chills just like I did when I played this song in my car for the first time - so glad I was around in that era.
I’m right with you. Reading your words did it too. I’m a drummer/percussionist as well.
Concordo isso ultrapassou os limites de uma música boa parabéns!
Wow that was so good to watch - stellar playing and singing from all, and the lead guitarist nailed the awesome solos perfectly. And the drummer's stick twirl at the end was very cool - thank you!
The Drummer is excelent!
Wow, great Band, super Gittarist and Drums,...yeaaaa
Absolutely nailed it, when Miss Borg’s vocals come up, the track goes to 11. Bravo!
My guess is that these are a group of professional studio musicians who have been hiding behind the woodwork for way too long....Now it's time for them to finally be recognized....!! Fantastic job guys...!! I absolutely love this...It took me back to the 1980's when I was growing up...Thanks for posting....You guys absolutely NAILED IT
I was sold on the intro drum part...great band, great players...but the drumming was sickkkkkk! Well Done!
This is EXCELLENT! Vocals , drums, guitars, keyboards and music complete with sax/trumpets. Jeff Porcaro ( drums ) would be so proud
As a fellow musician, “Don’t Stop Rock’n”..
No criticism... whoever plays this is an artist. And that's it.👍👍♥️ Perfect!
