I keep on coming back to this one all the time! I have been a TOTO lover since 99 was first played on the radio in the Netherlands. The drummer is amazing and all do a great job, the mix is so pleasant to listen to and I do not get bored watching it! Thank you for bringing this joy to us!!!
The drummer truly was the star of this video, Jeff Porcaro would have been proud, he was beating them drums like they owed him money. Excellent job. He absolutely nailed it, great tone, nice fills, and timing.
Yeah I've been recently trying to learn the Rosanna Shuffle on drums after a 25 year hiatus from playing and it is a deceptively hard groove to get right and this guy nails it like it was easy as pie. What's sad is the casual music listener just hears a "pop-rock" beat and doesn't realize what's going on with the grace notes and the smooth stamina in the right hand. This guy has it down pat.
@@Sugarsail1 I am not a musician, but i know music. And you're right the casual listener won't hear that. Bernard Purdie is another great drummer (the Purdie shuffle) not sure if Jeff Porcaro got it from him or not, doesn't matter they both are phenomenal drummers. Check out Steely Dan's Deacon Blues, Bernard Purdie was the drummer on that song, another great drummer is Jim Keltner.
Joel could play this stuff with seemingly ease of falling off a log when he was in Jr high. Granted, he lived all things drums n has always been very dedicated to practicing. Still, a little freak of nature. Nicest guy you could ever meet too
That drummer is INSANELY good and beat-for-beat perfection. Overall this engaging performance knocked it out of the park, great job one and all on one of my fav 'oldie' tunes. Vocals were a 10 for sure, great lead and great backing vocals! Loved this rendition!
2:27 :)!
Guy is a monster player...love it!
Perfection...wellll...no. But good.
he has it.
Called "The Rosanna Shuffle" named and created by Totos' drummer Jeff Porcaro. A half time shuffle with a heavy jazz influence.
GREAT drummer, AND I want to compliment the brass boys. Perfect horns! 🙂
Everyone giving the drummer love (deserved) but the guitarist absolutely 100% on tone and execution on that solo.
yep
TOTO-lly agree
Had to be said. Great leads.
And the keyboards!! 😮
Agree. Not easy. Absolutely
Rickae and Jordan absolutely nail this cover. Love it. Sound so good together.
The lead vocalist has a voice like velvet! The vocal harmonies were stunning! The guitar solo was awesome! Just discovered you folks and i am spellbound! Love your cover!!! Thanks for sharing.
If you can play drums like Jeff Pocaro then you have achieved greatness. Great work sir.
I’ll second that!
Drummer is the star of this video
Agree. Drumming was spot on
Hell Yes.🐣
Not even close to Pocaro. Where's the shuffle???
Damn talented musicians right here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The drums are the glue here, keeps everyone stuck together. BRAVO FREE RADICALS very well done.!!!
tears are running down my face,AWESOME!!!!!
I think the reason I've watched this 100 times is because the band really looks like they are having fun. Oh, and the lady. Her too 😀
Oh yeah, definitely her too 😍
6 days later: awsome drumming. Just perfect. X2
My wife of 22 years just told me this week that she wants a divorce. Your video randomly popped in my feed, and I just wanted you to know that I have come to watch this video several times since because, as a fellow musician, it brings me joy to watch you perform. The irony of the subject did not land until I started typing this message, but I don't care...I am going to keep coming back to watch this when I need a lift.
Stay strong Jon. You can get through this and you will get through this. You’ll come out the other side a much better and happier person. ✌️
That really sucks. You have my sympathy. Happened to me 36 years ago. She left me for another woman.
@@suburban404 wow that’s a rough situation I’m sorry man!
I’m sorry for you loss, but as a divorced person, I hope you come out the other side a happier person. Music is an amazing thing, it can inspire, bring joy, be healing, make us laugh, make us dance, make us ponder the weird thing we call the human condition. Turn it up when you want to sing at the top of your lungs
And isn’t it cool that you have this amazing platform? You can share your journey here with people who have walked in your shoes
Pity you cant like this more than once, pure joy to watch and listen.
Please give the sound guys some props - they spend tons of time setting up and dialing in the sound, always behind the scenes, and should not be forgotten for their talents
No words are adequate for this! Everyone is awesome, but that drummer was sick! He brings it all together, and the drums sound amazing!
Yes, I thought the same - he has THAT feeling for Rosanne! And its a SONOR ;-)
In that Jeff has passed, this is the greatest form of flattery. My gosh this drummer is fantastic and his interpretation of Jeff is spot on. 👍👍👍
IMO snare don't sounds any good, no punch and over compressed.
Snare sounded awesome! The whole band sounded awesome! And they had fun doing it😀
This was bad ass musicians doing their thing. Drummer is awesome. Horn section rocking. Great vocals. tight band. Love you guys.
Just imagine being part of that group who make such amazing music..... I would die happy.
Agreed bro!!
Did you even listen to the entire song?
@@andyharpist2938
I’m thrilled just listening to them. Toto sounds almost as good!
But these guys and gal are more fun to watch. Screaming guitar solos!
@@markklein437 Try this for class!....ua-cam.com/video/a1zNRIs0OiM/v-deo.html
Very nice, That Drummer is 100% Awesome
Drummer went full Porcaro mode on this one. Such a solid centerpiece to this production and that shuffle is PERFECTION.
Best cover of this song I've ever heard. Well done everyone, great team effort.
Love that drumstick FLIP! Yeah man!!
Absolutely nailed it, when Miss Borg’s vocals come up, the track goes to 11. Bravo!
Drums spot on. Excellent job by everyone.
Fantastic cover of a classic! Porcaro would be proud to see his legacy living on!
I'm a musician (drummer) and I think I could speak for other musicians here - this is a phenomenal cover...
(As a drummer) the drummer was so spot on...every other musician made this song shine...the production is great...
I'm a guy, and (as a born-again believer) I prefer to be respectful about women...the female lead is quite attractive - and I must confess that her beauty and her spirited performance helped to kick-it-up-a-notch for me...the male lead singer was great, too (he is handsome, so perhaps he might kick-it-up-a-notch for the female viewers!)...anyway, their harmonizations really enhance the vocals...
This is the best cover that I've seen for this song...in fact, because everyone looks like they are having such a great time, I may prefer to watch this cover over Toto's live version…🙂
Everyone...spot on. That was fun to watch all the way around. Drummer...what up!! that dude is for real!!
I think I've watched this video a thousand times. Toto never enough! Congrats to the band, awesome !!!!!!
Nice job all around.. but that drummer KILLED IT !
Porcaro would be proud!
👍
That "shuffle" is how I rate a drummer. Superlative! Nailed it!
The Drummer and Guitarist are phenominal, absolutely spot on!
And not forgetting the excellent vocals in harmony with each other oh and the female singer is a looker to!!❤️👍🎸🎧😁
Sim, os 2 são 80% da banda rs
Unbelievably good. Yes, this drummer is central to everything. What a rock. But what a fantastic group of musicians. I'm so glad that UA-cam threw this one at me. Just viewed other comments and see that I'm not alone in my drummer comments.
Started the video thinking “If it’s another one where the drummer can’t do it, I ain’t watching”. Was not prepared for how amazing both he and band were!
YES!!! pretty close to Simon Phillips with a lot less equipment.
Purdie Shuffle executed pretty flawlessly by the drummer.
Drummer was slayin' it...damn.
@@rbryda1 Jeff Porcaro, actually.
@@rbryda1 Jeff Porcaro
Except the both leading voices, a great pleasure for me. Drums are outstanding!
Wow I've never liked hearing that song on the radio but I suddenly like it now. That was great!!
Rock solid! Congrats to all. Especially the drummer. Spot on! Beautiful work on the guitar solo! Respect!
Drummer nailed Jeff’s masterpiece and yes I caught the stick flip in the flam fill before the chorus ahead of the solos, in the studio no less
Yep, loved it!
ya noticed right away hes got the Procaro parts down perfect
Drummers snare is beautiful.
Missed the kick hitting with the snare on 4. Sounds good though.
Yeah, stik flip was so cool. Cat can play.
Steve's guitar solo. NAILED! Note for note! Crushed it!
What a drumming masterclass right there capped off with perfect stick flip. Amazing
phenomenal cover - such incredibly talented musicians - led by the drummer!
YEA! What a proud feeling to see yet ANOTHER Fabulous group of superlative musicians and vocalists from here in America. The stick flip was icing on the "WE GOT THIS" cake! I sure hope it was as much fun for you all as it was watch and hear. Thanks also to the engineering folks for doing such a great job recording Rosanna
Drummer is incredible. Fantastic.
Yess..im crying, happynes, thanks for all, respect.
Damn.....Everyone was great! l really loved the drummer and lead guitarist.
THIS GROUP JUST NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!
BRAVO👍👌👍👌👍
Wow that was so good to watch - stellar playing and singing from all, and the lead guitarist nailed the awesome solos perfectly. And the drummer's stick twirl at the end was very cool - thank you!
The groove the drummer creates with that ride cymbal is insane.
Drummer is spot on! Ghost notes and all!
Great cover - but I've got to give props to the guy on drums. His 'Rosanna shuffle' is awesome. Porcaro would approve.
Purdie would also approve ;)
Dudes got a crazy powerful voice! Wow!💯💯💯👍
Excellent work! Terrific drumming and a great rendition of this Toto song.
My man on the drums! Killing the picaro shuffle!
As a veteran performing keyboardist and now audio engineer, I'm not easily impressed, but you all impressed the daylights outa me! Every single one of you is top-notch!
yes this is great
Why such a snobby comment. Nobody cares about your musical background. You like it or you don't.
@Jeremy Wade that wasn't a snobby comment. He was complimenting them and adding context as a musician with a professional background. Smh
Also a veteran keyboardist with some producer credits, I’m the same. The musicianship was top notch. The female vocals could have been dropped a few db in the mix, and some of the lower harmonies up a couple, but this was TIGHT! (Loved the stick flips off the snare). Keyboardist nailed the synth parts both sound and action.
@@jeremywade6986 You are the snobby comment. The guy gave context that bolstered his compliments.
one word, GREAT... now we need more and more from you.
Okay, the guitar guy blew my mind. Great job all!
Drummer has the most challenging role with this song. That shuffle isn't easy to play. Brilliant job!
Retired professional drummer (and singer) here, I saw this and said, "ok" and clicked on it saying if the drummer doesn't get the intro and the beat, I am gone, well, the drummer nailed it and then quickly the singer killed it....I wrote this and bailed
Everyone was fantastic. Would see them in person. Well worth the price of admission.
Fantastic. Props to the drummer for pulling off the Purdie shuffle. Wow. That is was a super performance.
WOW, THIS IS ONE FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE. ""TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK""
That dude has a KILLER voice. Everyone in this band is a mega talent, but that guy is so unique.
Love to see a drummer so deep in that groove! Great show!
@Len Sharps Are you a drummer. The beat is hard to learn but it's epic.
Ahhh, yes, but no one plays it like Jeff did. Except my dad. He actually played it just like the original.
It was just okay for me...the ghost notes weren't there.
@@bigelile07 It looked like he was playing them to me. Maybe not high enough in the mix.
Loved watching how he worked the high hat. Shades of Jeff P.
I grew up with Toto and I've heard dozens of covers over the years but THIS IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL. Absolutely fantastic. Drummer Joel nailed every nuance, vocalists captured every detail perfectly (great harmonies!), horns were needle sharp, guitarists supreme, keyboardists outstanding. GREAT PERFORMANCE!
awesome team! loved this version - drummer and guitarist on point
Jeff is always going to be a legend but this guy nailed it
..well, this drummer is focused. Yeah, great job everyone!
Everyone was just first class but the drummer on this one did a perfect job of keeping the meter rolling. Real fun to watch-Mark
I've been listening to this video for more than a hundred times already, probably closing on 200. And I have questions.
Why does this channel only have 12K subscribers?
Why does the band have only 8 videos??
Why aren't they performing live in front of thousands of people???
Everything in this video screams *talent* and *tons* of it. From the unbelievable drum groove through through the excellent voices, the awesome guitar and brass play and into taping/mixing. I want so much more of this!!
Well, at least one reason is, no matter how good cover bands are, they're still cover bands and there are many around who do great jobs...on ytube. What makes the difference is original material and that is what, as the old saying goes, "separates the men from the boys". Just the way it is.
Master class! I ain’t a musician, but can recognise good stuff. Thank you!
Really great. Everyone including Stoker White. Every drummer will tell you this song sorts the wheat from the chaff. Joel is obviously wheat. Excellent guitar solo. The vocals are just spot on. Jordan and Rickae - husband and wife? excellent!!
Great cover! So many talented people in one space faithfully recreating timeless music. The drummer kinda stole the show for me though. Laid back and in the groove, and great job with the shuffle.
ua-cam.com/video/q1EV_5U6GGo/v-deo.html
This is EXCELLENT! Vocals , drums, guitars, keyboards and music complete with sax/trumpets. Jeff Porcaro ( drums ) would be so proud
I could listen to that five-second drum intro over and over for a half an hour.
Drummer nailed Jeff Pecoro’s version of the Purdie Shuffle. A true delight. Had me at the drummer’s start!
Porcaro was a genius. What a loss!
I cannot for the life of me understand where the music like this is today. like....someone has to be out there in this big ole world .
Check out Rick Beato’s channel for some great content about WTF happened to music over the past 20 years.
The DRUMMER, THE DRUMMER THE DRUMMER!!!! DAMN!💥👋💯
Bravo! Wow! Thank you; all of you! And my - what a drummer and lead guitar!
Nailed it!. The Drummer is ACE. Thank you.
Not too many drummers could even approach Porcaro’s epic riff in this song…props to him and the rest of the band, very well done.
Congratulations. A very great band about TOTO tribute.
Johnny Knoxville killin it on the keys!
Hands down the best version of Rosanna I've heard. Drumming and Guitar were phenomenal but all instruments including the voices superb.
Hmmm, I'd say the best version is the original. This is a great cover, though!
The drummer is ON IT!!!
Not to take away from the rest of the band BUT... he's is in the moment.
Great job
Thanks for sharing
Like, super on it!!!
Yep, drummer is awesome
It’s so cool watching these unknown studio guys just lay down drum tracks like it was their job(ok it is) lol try live from Daryl’s place blue collar man that guy just crushes
@@davewhite3193 I've listend to Daryll Hall and his studio band often.
They are tight... but THEY get paid :)
Yes he is great: he used to be in the band YYNOT--a Rush tribute with original music too....you can still find videos of him playing in that band on youtube
First thing I heard was that snare drum, really tight. Here is a guy that knows how to tune a set of drums. He powers the band. Singer is really good Wow, the whole band is awesome.
Whats cool to me is the band genuinely looks like they are having a good time, and look to effortlessly laying down an awesome track.
Obviously they all nailed it. Let's just remember one thing that's going on here. They are all having a blast doing it. It sounds absolutely magnificent but people in a world with full of Filth, They're having fun. Plus, they are putting smiles on all our faces. Hats off. Keep the music alive
What I enjoy about musicians who perform tribute versions ...at least they pick the really great shit....we were lucky to have the boys of Toto around in the early 80's. left us with a great legacy of sounds.
Drummer had them… well done lads, well done.
That is a studio filled with talent. Drummer dude is a legend 👏👏.
This is a tremendous cover of a superb song. Everyone involved absolutely nailed it!
Breathtaking musical team. There's good, there's great, and then there's par excellence!
Drumer, uhhh.. man, that dude... even had some tricks... :) I love BASS!
Holy f#ck that man can sing! He had range to spare! And the band. Thank you you guys made my night
I agree, his range is phenomial. Wow! And the girl's vocalizations were perfect; THERE but not overpowering. Loved it!
I’ve heard lots of covers of Rosanna. This is far and away the best by miles. The best. You guys absolutely rock !
I'm back for the 250th time. You guys do the best cover of this tune. Absolute perfection. If I was a woman, I would want to have the Drummer's baby! That dude's got insane chops. Singers are stellar. Horns are freakin awesome. Bass and Guitar...Epic. This is a tough bastard of a song to perform and yet you guys made it look easy! Oh hell yes!! I'll be back in 200 more plays! 😂❤
Why can't i give this a new Like every time i watch it??
I get the chills when I hear fantastic music. I am a retired musician, * if there is such a thing! this was way beyond beautiful, and way beyond anything I expected. Does anyone else get the chills when they hear something perfect, or is it only me? It makes my whole body tingle. You all did a great job. This was wonderful!!!
Spot on Paul - I remember the 45 minute drive home after going out in the mid 70's with the V8 sound on the outside and TOTO as loud as possible on the inside - this cover was so good I did get chills just like I did when I played this song in my car for the first time - so glad I was around in that era.
I’m right with you. Reading your words did it too. I’m a drummer/percussionist as well.
Concordo isso ultrapassou os limites de uma música boa parabéns!
My man on the drums. Great work sir! Jeff would smile too
Awesome drumming. The fill at 2:33 with the toss is amazing. Loving all of it! Well done!
Great cover, this is one of the best that I've heard...Jeff Pocaro would be impressed with the drummer!
Simply an amazing cover. Note for note. Bar for bar. It really highlights what an amazing band Toto was and what skill level is needed to reproduce their sound. RIP Jeff Porcaro.
Right off the bat, I looked at my son (who is a drummer) and said “dang - guy certainly has Jeff’s Rosanna Shuffle down.” Kudos to the drummer, and all members of the band. Impressive cover.
