So let me get this straight. If I want to connect these via Bluetooth in stereo to my TV. I'd need to connect the speakers with wire, and plug a BT receiver in one of them in order for it to work? I couldn't plug a BT receiver in each of them connected towards a single transmitter? If that makes sense. Thanks, great videos by the way sir.

    • @soundsheavenly

Thanks, glad you like my videos! I don’t recommend Bluetooth for connecting to a tv, as this causes a delay to the sound, so the sound won’t match the tv picture. Hi Steve! I have a question for you! If I wanted to connect a beocenter system with only 2 pin din connectors (in my case beocenter 2200) to a pair of active speakers as the beolab 4000s, how would I go about? I’m guessing I need to skip either the built in amplifier of the of the beocenter or the beolabs? Thanks in advance!

Is the powerlink connection differrent from RCA voltage wise?
RCA are 2 volts and the powerlink?
I know that XLR are 4 volts and are better then RCA.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  11 місяців тому +2

Unbalanced audio inputs such as RCA and Powerlink have broadly the same electrical characteristics. XLR connections are intended for balanced audio signals, so these are not suitable for use with Beolab speakers (except Beolab 50 and 90). These are not "better", they have a higher voltage to allow use with professional balanced systems where they may be issues with electrical noise.

Thanks for your enquiry. Unless your TV has a headphone socket fitted, a direct cable connection to the speakers is not possible. However, you can still connect the TV optical output to the speakers by one of the options below:-
      1) Buy a B&O Core from your local B&O store (approx. £600 GBP) for remote control of the speakers via the B&O app, or
      2) Buy a B&O Connection Hub from your local B&O store (approx. £149 GBP) for remote control of the speakers via the TV remote, or
      3) Buy a Bluesound Node for stereo sound, with control of the speakers via the Bluesound app, or
      4) Add an AV receiver for full surround sound, with volume control from the receiver remote.

Steve I have a pair of the Mark 1 (with the power button) but the receiver I wanted to plug them into uses old-style positive/negative screw connectors for the speakers. Would I simply use the RCA connection on the speakers, and then remove the RCA on the other end and connect the positive and negative parts of the cable wires to the receiver?

Hi, although your receiver doesn't have pre-out sockets fitted, you can still connect the speakers by one of the two methods below:-
      1) Connect two speakers to the headphone socket of the receiver with this cable: soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/77-241-minijack-to-beolab-line-in-using-phono-rca-sockets-one-cable-for-two-speakers.html#/2-length-1m

Hi Steve, excellent review and always admired B&O audio gear. I bought the BEOLAB 4000 MK1's years back and with the appropriate cables to hook up to none B&O produts and always remembered there was a humming sound when I switched on the speakers and the headphone jack end went into the TV, (no humming when they were connected to other B&O products) the cables look just like the one you showed, so not because of other knock-off cable suppliers, I remember buying them legit from a B&O after market cable provider, and that's probably the reason the speakers are still in the box. Now that I have dug them out of the loft and really want to set them up as desktop speakers, is there a way around the humming noise, eliminating it preferbly.

I tried powering the unit and speakers up and connecting them through RCA connection from the 9000 to the 4000's but none worked. I made sure to move the switch to line, but no sound. I used some headphones to confirm the unit was putting out sound.
    1. Do I need the MK3 cable (8 pin male to 8 pin male) to connect them instead? Just run one from 4000 to 9000 and have power cords as well? Will a MK 2 cable work (also 8 pin male to 8 pin male)?

Yes, I can help! The only way to connect the speakers to your TV is to use the headphone socket on the TV, as this is the only socket where the volume of the sound can be controlled. If your Beolab 4000 speakers are the mk.1 versions (up to 2007, Serial no. 1xxxx), you need this cable to connect two speakers to the headphone socket of your TV:-
