Goblin is probably one of the most important albums I've heard in my life. Maybe THE most important. It completely changed my opinion on rap music and my perception of narrative albums altogether. While it hasn't aged well in some respects, there are some absolutely incredible moments on this record and one I'll always hold in high regard for my own personal journey in music.
I feel so old. I can’t believe 2011 was 10 years ago. I went a college freshman straight out of high school to an adult with a 9-5, taxes, and a mortgage.
I've recently been listening to his full discography and I noticed certain sounds and "riffs" ( I guess you could call it) that appear in some form throughout Goblin - Cherry Bomb and were sort of crystalized in Igor. I thought that was interesting how he really had been playing with these ideas throughout his career. And despite each album sonically being different, they all feel like evolution and not like completely different people made the album and just slapped his voice on it.
Was my favorite album when it came out, being only 14 at the time, but at this point i can only appreciate it as both a stage in Tyler's career and my developmental years.
I discovered both this album and your channel in 9th grade around November 2011 and both would be my first exposures to things that have been a frequent part of my life up to today. This was right as I was getting into alternative hip hop and death grips and things like that and I’d always watch your album reviews for them, so your channel has put me on to so much music discovery over the years. it’s crazy to see how much both members of odd future and your channel have grown and remained relevant to each other. My college roommates and I would watch thatistheplan all the time. Every time I hear goblin or watch that review I just think of all the experiences and events I’ve gone to for these artists over the past 10 years and how this review was from the very beginning of what I would be following closely up to now at 24. I even got to see death grips at camp flog gnaw in 2016 and a part of me expected to see you in the pit lol
I was the perfect age when odd future came out in the early 2010’s. I don’t think it’s surprising that Tyler, Frank and Earl have gone on to have the critical success they did later on in the decade. Saw Tyler’s first concert back in the UK in 2019 and it was breathtaking. Have a special place in my heart for Goblin, but I do see it’s shortcomings

This type of content may feel lazy to make for you, but I think that watching you react to things is highly entertaining. Especially your old reviews I'm beginning to discover. Getting insight on your thought processes can be very refreshing! I know that sounds vague but idk how else to describe it lol. I'd appreciate more content like this :).
The punk ethos thing really strikes true. I think that's what made Tyler's, and by extension Odd Future's, music so pervasive at the time. It was music made by a bunch of kids for a bunch of kids. It didn't have the big budget producer polish but it also didn't have the corperate sell out ness tied to it. Musically speaking, Tyler has certainly matured and developed his sound but look at his performance at the grammys. He creates what he wants to create and wears his musical heart on his sleeve. They say that the difference between a genius and a normie is that a genius acts on their crazy ideas. Tyler is the perfect embodiment of this sentiment.
Every day is an anniversary for something, Melon. For example today is the 4 year, 4 month, 10 day anniversary for Angellic to the Core. You need to give it a classic review every day until it gets a *10*

I love this. I want many many more videos of you reflecting on old reviews. MORE!!
When you you say “Are they gone?”, you kinda look like SteveO on PCP
This type of content may feel lazy to make for you, but I think that watching you react to things is highly entertaining. Especially your old reviews I'm beginning to discover. Getting insight on your thought processes can be very refreshing! I know that sounds vague but idk how else to describe it lol. I'd appreciate more content like this :).
"Reacting to My MBDTF Review 10 Years Later"
goblin and bastard were super influential when they released. I still gotta go back to visit them to feel that energy again
I was there for that review. We were all younger then.
Can't believe Cal is 10 years old now, seeing him as a baby feels weird.
I absolutely love with all my heart that he skips over the 1:13 line. 😂
Last time I was this early, Tyler was still trying to stab Bruno Mars.
He still is, just in a different way
@@EduardoMartinez-lf5id Bruno isn’t white enough for Tyler
@@TortoiseMaximus yeah
Every day is an anniversary for something, Melon. For example today is the 4 year, 4 month, 10 day anniversary for Angellic to the Core. You need to give it a classic review every day until it gets a *10*
I am already looking forward to the 2031 reaction to this video
For a second I thought you were talking about the italian rock band Goblin... That’d be awesome, tho.
That band fucking schhhlaps.
