Ahhhh.. Back to the essence of your channel. When I first came across your channel many years ago, you were still working at Moon Township Ford doing your reviews on the premises. I have a 2020 black on black Explorer ST, and I have to agree and disagree about people getting out of your way on the highway. For those that use their rearview mirror, yes. For all the others that are oblivious behind the wheel, they stay put! I like the 2025, except for the wheels and the amount of features taken out of the ST..
The tailpipe design started back in 2016 and was a result of the carbon monoxide issues the previous generation had supposed issues with. My 2016 Explorer XLT was a buyback for the issue and one of the "fixes" was a revised exhaust that was installed on the vehicle which featured the tips with the outlets on the bottom that was there to help point the exhaust fumes downward instead of outward.
My '22 ST has the blacked out badging in the hood too. Wife ans I love our ST. Ordered new and delivered with 8 miles on the OD. Went to thr performance driving school in NC at the Biltmore that ford includes with each new purchase. And when attending, you get blacked out badges to replace the red ST badges. So anyone you see with black ones went to the school. Amazing two night trip at the Biltmore. Power output is amazing, got the full technology, tow, blacked out, co pilot 360+ packages. Also the AWD and 4WD options. I live in Phoenix, so not fully needed, well 4Wad yeah, AWD, not needed. But good gas millage, great handeling, excellent power and looks!!! Black on Black FTW!!!
Glad you did this one. When I went researching 2016 Sport Explorers,I came up on your video, that was in September 2022 and I saw how much fun you had with. It sold me and I had to have it. Love my 2016 Sport. Love the what they did for 2025. I wasn't a fan of gen 6 2020-2024 because it just didn't look good in comparison. I put 275/50/20's on mine and true dualed it. Kudos!

@@apunitedif you’re spending $200/week on gas just because you have a v8, means that you can afford either: 2 cars, one good on gas to get to and from work OR a v8 where $200/week is nothing. Besides, if you’re driving that far for work and you’re complaining about the gas prices, you make really bad financial decisions, so the engine is not to blame, only yourself.
I live downtown so I don't drive much anymore. Drove my '25 Explorer tonight for first time in maybe four or five days. Goodness in love all over again
Nice review. Ford has done a nice job with the Explorers. Useful design, good amount of space. I’d seriously consider one if I needed to replace my current DD.
Just picked up a 25 explorer st on 10/3. It just came off the truck, had 11 miles on it. It’s awesome! The side mirrors project the ST logo on the ground in red
To clarify, the exhaust tips did not come from the Aviator. They were like that on all previous Explorer STs. The reason had nothing to do with blackening the tips. When they came out with the body design for the Explorer previous to this body design (the more rounded bubble version), the exhaust tips were straight. They ran into the issue of exhaust fumes coming back into the cab of the vehicle. This actually messed some people up. Their fix for it was to put tips that rolled downward. This of course was not pleasing to the eye. They then came up with the look you see here, where they look straight out, but they are still rolled down.
Finally a new video Mike! I know you are having some major personal problems at the moment, but it would be cool if you would post videos more often...
Don’t forget to sign up for the SUV Experience. I have a 2023 for work, love it. The interior is nice, Ford could’ve done a better job the center screen. It’s the engine and the way it drives that’s awesome.
Not a blow off valve. The 21+ does not have a BOV anymore. They are varriable vane turbos and not sure how it works with no BOV, but yeah, no BOV in 21+ model years with the 3.0 TT (Which all STs have)
My take on this is, of course, the price. 50k is too much without that 3.5L, but. still, the prices are so high the sales will tank like the rest of the auto market. People these days just don't have the money to drop on high dollar autos like they use to. Many Ford, GM, Dodge, lots around where I live and travel are stacked full with no one even entering the lots to look, much less buy. Some lots are even so full here they are still holding on to 2023 models they can't sell. I don't know if this is in other areas across the country, but within a 100 mile radius of me in central Alabama these lots are loaded. I've talked to a couple friends who use to work at our local, in town dealership who've said they are just not selling anything, and are cutting staff members. I say all this to say, unless they cut the prices of autos to a reasonable price, considering so much of them are robot built and assembled, and prices are going up so high in this economy, folks like myself on a fixed income will have to keep our old vehicles and put a few dollars here and there to keep them on the road. I sure would like one of these STs, but there's no way many of us on disability or some on social security can buy. Anyway, thanks for the review. It looks nice, for sure..still needs the 3.5L for those extra ponies...lol. Cheers
I bought a Honda Pilot AWD Touring out the door for $54,000 with a naturally aspirated V6. I would it over the Explorer any day and that is what we did.
Had two of the previous gen Explorer STs. This interior upgrade looks like a major improvement. Too bad they won’t put a real exhaust system on the ST.
I love it. I just wish it had a bench seat and the second row because I would always keep the third row folded down. I need the cargo space not the seating.
Hey @autovlog do you have info if and when the explorer will come in Europe? The previous came with an added phev mandatory option. Didn’t like the interior so didn’t bother but this is looking great
Does the engine still blow up? My neighbors did at 5200 miles. They were really upset. On the way to Florida. 7 months old. Gotta love a Ford. 2024 Explorer LXT . Bought it brand new from the Ford Dealer. They offered to put a new engine in it.
Website shows the ST is still 4WD, not AWD. My heart sunk when you said only AWD because there is a huge difference and 4WD is what i want for towing and light trails.
Just so you know it's neither, but both lol. It depends on the drive mode. It can be a dedicated 4wd or what they call 4A. The transmission sense when the vehicle would likely need more traction and will put what power it thinks it needs to the front. There's actually a view on the dash that shows when it's putting power to the front and how much.
@@msokes9 After some research, it appears you are correct... I thought it was fumes related because these turndown tips became a thing when that massive exhaust fume recall happened back in like 2017ish.
