It is rare to see a tutorial THIS concise, no bull, good workflow. Fantastic quality, and it'll be important to pay attention to your future tutorials!
I am a big fan. it's obvious that you model A LOT and that you also like to know the details. Combined with your natural good teaching skills and emphatie your tutorials are very pleasant to watch.
I only used blender for animating and i never tried modeling because i used to be really bad at it, after watching alot of tutorials i managed to make quite a nice model of viewmodel arms without a use of tutorial. People like you are LIFE savers!!
AMAZING. It's evident you are freaking skilled. You cover complex details still teaching in a simple way, I couldn't ask for anything better. Subscribed
great tutorial i love your style, one thing i’ll point out that could be simply improved is the brushed metal. because you scaled the one axis up so much to crunch the noise it effectively becomes one value across the whole material. instead i’d recommend scaling the y up just not nearly as far, then scaling down on the x to elongate the noise instead of just crunching it. also the anisotropy slider on the bsdf node is specifically meant to affect the direction light interacts with a material in a brushed metal looking way. turn up that slider and slide the anisotropic rotation until it matches the direction you’re trying to brush the metal in
When you place the text on the knife you may want to use another UV Map (Under Data /UV Map). Just select the area where the text will go and use a separate UV map for this and it won't affect the surrounding area
0:24 buck supports small creators! If anything, reach out to them! They would love this video. They know the buck 119 is iconic. Ghost Face from Scream even loves buck knives lol.
Love the videos, but for the ones just starting out on modeling products ar assets like this I just want to add a (in my opinion) a really important step, figure out the exact dimensions of the product you are modelling, that will add to it, because if a client wants that knife rendered on a table next to other objects, having the actual scale of the thing will make it perfect. Also one more tip that I use, model in steps, think of them as LODs model the basic shape of the knife with no subdivisions and no details and in separate parts, duplicate the model and save it to a hidden collection, then add your subdivisions and start adding in the details and UVs and so on and so forth, that will give you "save points" and your second to last model should be just a simple texture bake from becoming a asset that can be added directly to a website.
If you go into Face Mode and hit L on a face, it will select all the faces on THAT SIDE of any seam. So at 19:15 if you go into Face Mode(hotkey: 3) then hit L on any of the faces on that end of the knife, it will select all the faces up until your seam. :)
The metal plate that you ask for, which sits between the handle and the knife blade, is to protect your fingers from cutting yourself. let's say you have to defend yourself against a wolf or bear or something like that, if there is a lot of blood on the shaft it will be smooth to handle, and if you were to stab the wolf in the chest because it is standing over you, they have quite hard ribs. And the knife will stop there, while the fingers automatically go over the knife blade. and if you fight a wolf, you have a pretty tight grip on the knife. You can call it a finger guard blade. This was a good tutorial film. Best Regards from Norway.
There’s an option at the top right of the screen when you’re in edit mode to automatically merge overlapping vertices. It saves you the time of always finding the merge by distance thing. Also, you can hit M on the keyboard to get to the merge options faster
Yeah that's it, thanks. Sometimes I miss stuff in the editing but fuck it I'd rather just make another video than rewatch it 4-5 times to catch mistakes. I hate editing
Nice instructional video! the part that protects your hand is the hilt. My mistake, the hilt is the handle, the rain-guard is the part that protects the hand, as other comments have said.
Sick tutorial, bro. Helpful and straight to the point. Would love if, when recording your videos, u could add one of those small pop ups that indicate what u are pressing either on the mouse or the keyboard. I've seen other Blender pros do that. I know you mention that out loud sometimes but it would be helpful to pause the video and catch any shortcut u're using. Cheers.
When I watch it I feel like you just woke up and thought "im going record something" being shirtless and doing things effortlessy because of good knowledge of blender so this literally gives me this kind of vibe hahaha. Anyway great tut ^^.
Eyo, to align vertices without using the 3D cursor, you can use vertex snapping and select the axis (like, G, X, hold ctrl, cursor over the vertex to alignt to, left click: aligned on x axis)
found you on instagram and i dont regret it, i just started and this fast approach makes it just easier and less boring to follow. considering subbing to the patreon.... keep up!!!
Hey, you can start a series where you can teach product modeling, rendering then animations so beginners can follow and can learn from you. Btw that's awsome af
just a question why do u extrude then right click to cancel it and then allt s to scale it along the normals instead of doing alt e to extrude along the normals
The one thing i would do differently is that i would use mirror modifier especially for blade. Other thing is that in nature, there is no sharp edges... Even when you look at scalpel through microscope, it's not 100% sharp. This can make a lot of impact on light reflection.

Definately getting your ebook. You are the master at blender.
And all with NO ADDONS!!!

Just started Blender not too long ago, so this is an amazing tutorial 🔥
The piece you're describing on the knife is called the rain-guard.
U can use merge by distance by pressing "M"

You arę the best. All other blender youtubers take so long, you however are quick and easy to understand (almost). You are giga chad, i subscribe.
For those who have a certain foundation, watching your video is very enjoyable.

3:24 thats called a "knife hand guard" It works so your hand doesnt slip and go to the blade, preventing cuts
this are the best advanced Blender tutorial I ever seen. thanks a lot
efficient very good! im like 2 weeks in learning Blender - love the no bullshit approach brah
This video is a goldmine, 2 min in and I learned something new :o
Imagine after 30 min
Love your "no bs" approach. The only thing i don't like is using the crease param, but that's a personal preference )

Thank you big dog see you in your comment sections soon
Such a great tutorial, I'm excited to see more product design videos.
Great Tutorial!
It's called a guard, and it's there so your grip can't slide towards the blade and cut your fingers when you stab something.
This guy is like the Bert Kreischer of Blender!
10:53 A little tip
I can press E then X to extrude along X. Without clicking RMB and G.
bro, this tutorial is so nice to follow and i really dig your style! Thanks a bunch, i've learned a lot!!
"Hilt". The bit that protects your hand.
I think this guy should finally get himself a T- shirt 😅
I wanted to start some merch but it would go against my brand to sell tshirts
the tutorial just great, you gonna have a lot more followers fr!
the part between the blade and the "hilt" or grip (=handle) is called the guard
Instant sub. Amazing the quality it almost looks effortless and so chronological.
Thank you. I do model effortlessly and on autopilot mostly, but the process of filming and producing is quite demanding.
6:50 , When he started modeling the blade, Did he just say "this is the part that goes into the other man"?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Long time no see W vids as usual.
