Because they'd rather find a more integrated and realistic solution of perhaps dedicated charging stations rather than mocking something up. The trucks were probably added faster than the infrastructure as brands licensing deals influence what gets added to the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were pushed to add the EV trucks before they themselves would've wanted to.
This is 2024, soon to be 2025 with still NO sound improvements. If mp3 was implemented already engine sounds would be 100x times better and realistic. I cannot believe this hasn't been figured out yet. Oh yes I can 🤔

It's a common complaint by the truckers as well. Scania copy-pasted their diesel engine dashboard, basically replaced "l/100 km" with "kWh/100 km" and called it a day. You should look at the new Iveco S-eWAY (the irl one...), the dashboard is amazing. Buttons for everything that needs quick access and then a huge screen for all other settings and GPS. Maybe they can get the software to work properly anytime in the next few years :D Considering how different the controls are for that thing I doubt SCS will put it in the game any time soon, unfortunately.

Except hydrogen production *right now* is even worse than oil extraction (they literally synthesize fossil fuel to make vehicular Hydrogen); "green" Hydrogen is still a pipe dream that's facing significant difficulty in being scalable and economical for commercial use. 😭
