- Taken from "The Animal Spirits" (2010 - Profound Lore Records), an excellent cover of Alan Parsons Project classic by the San Francisco-based power metal band.
The song was originally included in Alan Parsons Project prog rock masterpiece "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" (1976).
Band members:
Mike Scalzi -- guitars/vocals
Angelo Tringali -- guitars
Adrian Maestas -- bass
Harry Cantwell -- drums
Here is the original version in case you're interested to listen to:
• The Alan Parsons Proje...
Lyrics:
You should have seen him
Lying alone in helpless silence in the night
You should have seen him
You would have seen his eye reflecting in the light
So for the old man
Ashes to ashes, earth to earth and dust to dust
No one will see me
No one with guilt to share, no secret soul to trust
And he won't be found at all
Not a trace to mark his fall
Nor a stain upon the wall
Louder and louder
Till I could tell the sound was not within my ears
You should have seen me
You would have seen my eyes grow white and cold with fear
Heard all the things in heaven and earth
I've seen many things in hell
But his vulture's eye of a cold pale blue
Is the eye if the devil himself
Take me away now
But let the silence drown the beating of his heart
I can't go on
Let me be free from wretched sea that I can not see
Please let me be free
Solid cover! Kinda wish there were a few more crazy ass Arthur Brown screams, but this still rules!
Arthur Brown!!!!
I put a spell on you! Hail the God of Hellfire.
Took 7 years to find this cover, it's great. Thanks
great cover ! after listen some years alan parsons, this is great
Thanks for your comment.
Note that the lyrics are based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, like the rest of "Tales of Mystery and Imagination".
You guys do any other APP covers?
Powerful metal cover; I feel that it's somehow more smoother ... more rolling than the original song. I followed the lyrics attentively, thanks for it! Surely I would never hear it without your upload :)
Damn, when they're good, they're good.
... so that's why the lyrics is so amazing. I forgot to mention, regarding to your previous upload, that, when you finally decide to step ' INTO THE LIGHT', you always bring some unique stuff. thanks for it :)
The lyrics follow the story of Edgar Alan's Poe "The Tell-Tale Heart ". Great cover and upload Greg !!
An ok version but no Alan parsons project.
That was the point, actually. If it sounded exactly like Alan Parsons, it'd be boring. :-)
a little bit to fast, and slow . GOOD
