Those vocals on drums are unbelievable.
And he does both at the same time!
@@joemunch58 Agreed, very, very few can do both that well. Not Henley, not Collins, or Ringo.
I was thinking the same thing. He has the chops. 😀
@@maximilliancunningham6091 LOL, you didn't listen enough to Phil singing while playing! 😀
Alan's best band. He should go on the road again with these guys.
Powered by Steve Murphy on drums and vocals
the drummer stole the show: to sing lead so high with completely different rythyms going on with the drums at the same time and to play drums at such a high level of technique and feeling, is what gave clarity and understanding to anyone that knows something about professional music performance. very few people in the history of music business can do what he makes look routine, the fucking picture show was just in the way cutting out guitar solos and shit.
catch him on the latest oldies revival. Very generic.
Steve does great but Clarke sang it better. The fact he plays drums while singing this song really shows his level skill regardless a great great performance.
Have you not heard/seen the band, Triumph?
Dam right!! He is mind blowing awesone!!!
Phil Collins with Genesis does well at percussion and vocals
there is no band without a great drummer .....never more
I like the drummer Danny Thompson !!!!!
Steve Murphy
Steve Murphy!
Putting on a talent clinic!
Fantastic!
This is my favourite Alan Parsons song - Love the drummers voice so much I can not get enough of STEVE Murphy singing this song especially live
The whole album, Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe. Excellent album.
Agree one of the best albums ever and for some reason never rated or got much airtime in its day
I think this song is from I Robot.
Terror of the soul.
@@darbucsmith2203 totally agree nothing like getting a buzz on and listening to that album
You are Absolutely 100% correct this is one of the greatest albums ever
Steve Murphy just kills this song. Just the best!
The transition between the songs are so smooth.
Edit: The ending is also so wicked!
Gets better every time i hear it
Love the sneaky bit of Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker riff at 3:12!
Check out the Madrid concert of APP.
Love the drummer -Steve Murphy. He makes my heart beat a little faster. Very talented guy.
The Drummer is great !!
Yes, he's Fantastic!
Lori Marine I love drummers! They make the best lovers. The drumming gives the strength and stamina, plus they're used to doing 4 things simultaneously! 😘
ETA: Drummer's name is Steve Murphy.
Steve Murphy is the best, vocals and drums !!!!!!!
I concur with you. The drummer really makes it Great! I will look for his work after hearing this!
True
Love Steve Murphy and Love
Alan Parsons is a genius, yet he is humble
And droll.
Breakdown and The Raven are my favourites songs of Alan Parsons together Eye in the Sky and Old and Wise.
late 70's,...goin to college,...4 of us go out for lunch,...we get into this tiny honda civic,..had just met the driver,...we pull away, he sparks this big fat joint, we smoke it, and then, he slides this cassette into his tape deck, and cranks the volume,...that was the first time i heard breakdown,...couple of hours later, i was buying the lp,...i still have it../ for the ones like me who were lucky to have experienced all the great music from the 70's, you know what i mean...great music
Excellent...!
This diffucult song is very well performed! Drum player & singer STEVE MURPHY is amazing!
Excellent "live" version of Breakdown! Alan and his band still have it, even after all these years! One of the greatest composers, artist, arrangers, and musicians of ALL TIME! Alan is too under rated. There are very few that could do the incredible music he has done over the years. Gerry Rafferty was another.
Dark Side of the Moon sure wasn't shabby!!
Steve Murphy nails it. He is me fav drummer ever !!!!!!
" I'll Always Love 'me' as much as myself "
3.08 - 3.12 Four seconds of Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin)
Ucumar10 you nailed it dude!
TheLaserSpectacular Strange but true 4 seconds Zeppelin, lol
TheLaserSpectacular is there more vídeos from this concert? Thank you
I heard that and thought, "...Zeppelin..?". Thanks. :-)
James Taylor also worked that into a song once.
Alan Parsons is an absolute genius in the music industry!
Ahhhhh the memories of my graduation year 1977 and hearing these Alan Parsons jams on the legendary Cincinnati rock n roll station WEBN!
that drummer rocks with his voice!!!!!
Real musicians? I didn't think they existed anymore...love Alan Parsons.
this drummer is a true artiest.not many like him any more
who is, can't find any info on him?
mark johnson
+scubarulz Hi Mark, I'm Steve Murphy, the drummer vocalist in this video. You can type my name in UA-cam and subscribe to my channel if you'd like. And thank you scott coleman!
+Steve Murphy Yes sir, and you kick some serious ass!! Well done!!!
+Steve Murphy I wish you were still with them! you are fantastic. i flip from this 2009 performance of The Raven to the 2004 Madrid concert. and yes, i have checked you out!
peace
Yeah back in 1979 a year before graduating high school, I had this album. I was not exactly the popular type but I was in dance class and I used this breakdown song to dance in front of the whole class. Little did I know that I was going to actually have a breakdown. Loved that whole album. Going to look for another song now. Love it.
love the 3 second piece of Zeps Heartbreaker
Just superb. Such work, precision and talent to bring so strong a material to full life live. AP always impressive!
I breakdown in the middle and lose my thread
No one can understand a word that I say
When I breakdown just a little and lose my head
Nothing I try to do can work the same way
Any time it happened I'd get over it
With a little help from all my friends
Anybody else could see what's wrong with me
But they walk away and just pretend
When I breakdown
I breakdown in the middle and lose my thread
No one can understand a word that I say
When I breakdown just a little and lose my head
Nothing I try to do can work the same way
Where are all the friends who used to talk to me?
All they ever told me was good news
People that I've never seen are kind to me
Is it any wonder I'm confused?
When I breakdown, when I breakdown
Freedom, freedom, we will not obey
Freedom, freedom, take the wall away
(Take the wall away)
Breakdown. It happens. It does. It hurts like hell!!
Steve Murphy does it all. Best singer of Breakdown besides the original with Allan Clarke.
Would love to see Allan Clarke perform this.
I have always loved going to a concert to hear the band play the songs the way they were recorded.
Alan Parsons Project does this to the nth degree!!
Brilliant percussion.
I’m 70 next February and I’m breaking down with the ptsd I’ve had since I was 13 years old 🤡😩🤣😔😪🇦🇺
Looked for this song for thirty minutes tonight.thiught it was Elo, Moody blues or Emerson lake and Palmer! Just had the lyrics of the beginning of the song! Excellent song n singers
This is the first time i have EVER seen them live. They are STILL GREAT!!
Drummer singing? Yess!!!
Thanks for the info,James.Never knew his name, just that he ROCKED!!!
My chickens name is Ravin and she jams to this tune everyday.
Awesome Song with much meaning. 💕
Great tunes
Excellent group.
Just spectacular!
Holy crap! That was awesome!
03:08 Riff Heartbreaker, Led Zeppelin 🤘
I didn't notice that on the first viewing. Good catch!
We saw them in Medellin yesterday!!!they were so great!!!!
There are several movies, I think. One of the images belong to "Sunset Boulevard", with Gloria Swanson and William Holden
too awesome..when I break down, I want this song playing..
Great tracks.Original vocalist on Breakdown was Allan Clarke, of The Hollies😀. He was amazing!
The raven ist der größte Hit dieser Band, die ganz phantastisch war! Liebe noch heute jedes Stück!
Cheese and Rice that drummer is fantastic. What a great transition between the two songs.
GRANDISSIMO STEVE!!!GREAT DRUMMER AND GREAT VOCALIST
drummer has a great voice.
The drummer ... wow
The songs are okay, the production and performances are STELLAR. Really great stuff, wish we still had music like this being created today. Love how they work in Orson Welles, that's just perfect.
Steve, very talented guy.
Einsame Spitze!
Love the Zeppelin riff in the middle.
I missed that! I'm a Led Zep fan and a Allan Parsons fan. Oh no, I will to listen again.
I just got it. Time stamp 3.10.
Alan Parsons is Badassed!! Despite the fact of his work on Pink Floyds "Dark Side Of The Moon " album, Was introduced to his solo work when he released the album "Tales Of Mystery and Imagination "!!! Side One Jammed based on Edgar Allen Poe!! So Loved That Album!! Turned so many of my Friends onto that album and they Absolutely Loved it, so when I Robot was released, they beat me to the purchase of that album and turned me onto that!! What a turn around lol!
Fantastic stuff, reminds me of when I was young.
the bass was mixed hot..and sounded great
I'm over 60 & APP is still taking me there!
very good one of the best
prog bands
Love these guys...What a great band.
Am I the only one that is turned on by the singing drummer? It pushes every one of my buttons!
This is a phenomenal video!
He's hot
nunya biznes the drummers name is steve Murphy he's from NYC . Amazing voice and drummer
Not only him,but every one of these guys can sing really well, and the guitar player(Alastaire Greene)looks just like
Warren Haynes from Govt Mule!
The drummer is killing it! Doesn't surprise me Alan Parsons chose him. Alan is a musical genius!
I'm a straight guy but drummers that sing fascinate the he'll out of me for some reason. I guess because most of the drummers I know cant sing a lick anyway and the ones who can, cant master doing both at once very well. Chicks playing electric six strings, now that is hot.
To play this well in live concert, including Pink Floyd, shows superb musicians.
APP timeless
Awesome band!
This is also one of their masterpieces!
Anybody notice the homage to Jimmy page at 3:05?
The woman, Brigitte Helm, that shows up at 3:15 and 3:25 is from Fritz Lang's 1927 film "Metropolis". I think that much of the background is Metropolis.
Also; Nice Led Zep Heartbreaker rip at 3:08 or so.
Many clips from Outer Limits too.
Thanks for that info. Been looking for quite some time for the sources of the video clips. Also the lady's face that appears 2-3 times in a picture frame. Such a fantastic music video.
Alan Parsons and Procol Harum. Hard as hell acts to follow
Beauty and Style Personified
Pay attention young people.
Nice live version. Excellent!
