I did - I did enjoy it very much! This was a great vid Richard. Of course you know I always love when you do your history walk & talks. Just love that old stone church. The stained glass was incredible! & loved the "folly" - what an amazing tower ruin. I kinda would like to see someone turn it into a home in hopes of preserving it from total collapse. I just hope they would keep the architectural integrity of the place if they did!!!
Love this old video. The music is very Fred Dibnah-esque. I'll never forget my first visit and it's a reason to be spooky! With some friends, we wanted to go but decided to go the following night instead. Probably just as well, as on the original night we planned to go, there was a suicide as evidenced by the fresh flowers and rope still in situ in the left small tower. Hence, some of the RIP graffiti. I've been several times since, but never in daylight!
I think that The Landmark Trust could turn the Racton Tower into a useful building, while maintaining its individuality & providing spots from which it can be veiwed externally as well as maybe allowing entry to maybe part of it once a year, or something.
Obviously the tower did have floors because you can see where there were beams to support them but it may have only had ladders from floor to floor. I have seen that in some towers.
Great video, i have a old friend that lives in racton and sent to him, have you ever been ro east dean in chichetser and compton in chichetser thanks peter
thank you. per your end question. any updates on structure 11 years later? edit: just looked it up. seems efforts to save it underway? & thus assume residential never came to fruition.
It is a bit of an odd looking place. Not wanting to insult any long ago architects but it looks like someone almost built a windmill, then thought 'hang on a minute I could do something more interesting with this' & built three (or is it two?) smaller towers around the base. Perhaps they were going to make them a bit taller but they ran out of bricks?
Keep up the good work Richard. I am slowly transferring my early/mid 1990s Hi8 (analogue) footage using a Digital 8 camera c.1999 direct to Firewire as digital. See my channel. The Hi8 camera was £1,500 in 1990, think what you get for that much today (5 x Gopro Hero 5s or 2 x Heo 5 plus 2 x Karma Stabilisers) .
I remember this Richard fondly. Im not keen on the new supposedly "Red Pilled" Richard. Sad Times. So many people believing nonsense in favour of reality and our amazing history. None of the latter of which Richard chooses to dwell these days.

Very interesting - as a teenager I went to parties held here and it was always an atmospheric place.
Just watched - great to see some old stuff - excellent

I believe the stairs would have been in one of the side towers, Lovely place.
