Railroad Crossings With Lights That Shut Off When Gates Rise

- This railroad crossing compilation is of railroad crossings that have a sequence that lights shut off when the gates start rising even ones that temporarily had the sequence. This is a rare sequence to come across. One time this was a normal sequence for example the Southern Pacific use to use this sequence in the 50s, 60s, and 70s as one of their sequences. Also the crossing gates being worked on aren't broken. Those are mechanisms being upgraded and the upgrade taking place allowed me to get video of the temporary sequence at tgose crossings of lights shutting off when gates rise.
Forgot to add Iron Point Rd temporarily had it in 2017 😑
Woah! I thought this was totally phased out. I didn't realize there were still enough crossings that did this to make it into an actual compilation! Very cool!
Yep. In fact there are still some down the Fresno Sub I haven't filmed yet south of Modesto.
The fact that the traffic light was flashing on the first clip when the crossing was active was super cool!
It’s in another comp with crossings like that. Except the other (crossing) signals in that comp stay lit until the gate fully rises. But, yea. It was real cool! 😊
Sup bro
Usually when preemption starts for the railroad crossing, the traffic signal that's facing the railroad crossing gives a Track Clearance Phase, after that phase is done, the traffic signals go into a All-Red Flash
Nice catches! Yea, this is an uncommon thing for railroad crossings. In fact i think its more common to see this sequence on miniature signals at like zoos, small railways or parks.
Miniature*
@@itz_coaltonnn whoops my bad. Thanks for correcting me! Never even noticed it.
Oh i can't wait for this one 😁
I like this sequence. Continuously ringing bells and lights that shut off as the gates rise. This is the way it should be.
Can't wait for this and this is very weird I had never seen a railroad crossings lights go off when the gates go up that is very rare
On the Iowa Interstate, many of the gated signals still utilizing relays installed by the Rock Island maintain this sequence.
Great catches bro. I have a couple of these in Merced on the Union Pacific Fresno Subdivision. Have a nice day. 👋😁
Glad to see older equipment in place and WCH aurora 12/24 clear leds in place
The first one caught my attention because I saw a car blow through the crossing as the gates were still down and there was a train coming
Never do that guys.
@@user-hn5jr9mr6u very dangerous
yep, all it takes is for that car to stall out on the tracks and the train was that close probably wouldnt have had time to get out, not worth the 2 MINUTES that driver saved by running the gates.
@@mikeb6902 it's been happening a lot lately
Did anyone else notice that car drove around the gates in the first clip?
The good ol' days of Southern Pacific Western Pacific and Rock Island when the lights stopped flashing when the gates rose
I love the gate mechanism on the first crossing
Cool compilation!
dean loves train
That's something I never saw before-the flashing red lights going off before the arms go up. Where was this filmed?
I have never seen a crossing go off 2 minutes before a train went through @ 7:15
Nice do you know what kind of sequence is this and when your gonna do 20th street inactive Rxr crossing tour?
Thanks! Not yet but soon.
Wenesday 7am will be published of a quick tour of the crossings on the R Street Line.
Ok! Thanks
Yeah some railroad crossings do tend to do that. That's interesting
Do you know if it’s actually that the bell stops when the gate starts to rise and the lights turn off when the gates fully rise?
Wonderful
Very nice
7:30 is my favorite
Nice video
thats still a thing?
The lights in the third clip aren't flashing in sync.
These are old crossing signals where they used to have Griswold bells and signal lights
That’s pretty Rare
0:12 how come these silver lights aren’t common?
This is just like usually in Mexico
Here in France the lights turns off right when the gates rises like in this video but thats the normal fonctionning for all the crossings.
0:56 I think the lights look better like that than the red color
Is this signal still there or has it been replaced
All are still at their crossings.
@@MobileRailSpotterRxR cool I think they're very cool and rare
RR crossings in japan have that sequence as well!
The workers are going need to fix the lights on the railroad red lights all of them.
👍👍👍👍
when the lights turn off why are the lights on the gate still on?
They set it that way inside the mechanism. Its for vehicles and pedestrians to see that the gate is still down at night when raising when the main lights shut off.
@@MobileRailSpotterRxR oh i get it now
wierd! idk what is going on with those little flashing lights.
13:05 are these even led!?
Not even this sequence is in Canada bruh :(
7:34 neg bell sound like general system type 3
