Well, it's obvious for me that not even he believes what he says in this audio, it was a personal thing , got nothing to do with music , he's a bit dishonest
He has a right to his opinion. I commend him for writing Panic. Robert Smith, brilliant songwriter. Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger composed music for a Kenneth Anger film. The young men acting in the film became lost souls. Also Charlie Watts and Ringo are pretty average drummers. Morrissey and Smith are equal in their artistry.
I loved The Smiths, but hated The Cure - at the time! Nowadays, I realise the greatness of true geniuses like Robert Smith and think The Cure were probably one of the best bands to come out of that period. Meanwhile, Morrissey has just become this sad old clown, full of puerile affectation and preening narcissism, and who believes he's still somehow got something relevant left to say. I still listen to The Smiths. But I stopped listening to Morrissey years ago.
Morrissey is the only artist that speaks the truth. A genuine criticism of The Cure is that they don't say anything about society or politics...it's all romance.
@@cyberhermit1222why should The Cure, or any band/group for that matter, write or sing about society/politics? There are enough bands/performers who do just that, often. No one wants to hear any one else’s opinion about society or politics, AT ALL. I’m smart enough to know what political party I like or stand for, I don’t want to hear it from any celebrity or performer. Robert Smith was smart enough to realize that a long, long time ago.
@@Carolyn186 Why shouldn't they? Of course people want to hear politics in music. Why else was punk such an influential force in music? To say people don't want it "AT ALL" is simply untrue.
He’s right, the Cure do have trite lyrics. The Smiths are for deeper thinkers. Robert Smith seems like a nicer guy than Morrissey, but enough with the stupid lipstick and hair already. Grow up. The Smiths never had to resort to that nonsense. They just stayed focused on the music. The Cure seemed too preoccupied with trying to act and look cool. Trying too hard to be coy and mysterious. Like I said, just stick to the music and everything else with fall in place. Morrissey is and was light years ahead of The Cure
"I do not like Cquaaar never liked the Quaaar"

Just goes to remind us all what a bell Morrisey is.
And that's before taking into account the gig he did in Israel.

Like him or not, he's a totally unique artist that means more to a lot of people than anything else in the world and he is still a genius.

@@lorenagmzzthe smiths were radioheads biggest influence who in turn are the most influential modern band, so they definitely left a mark
The Smiths were garbage compared to The Cure. Morrissey can continue taking the Ls.
