Thank you for the video. I have been using my IPad Air 3 as a fulltime laptop now for about 4 months. It has taken me a little bit of time to get use to however the over all review so far has been a great turn around. I use the Brydge II keyboard, Crayon Pencil with no mouse or track pad. I also use the camera adaptor for flash drives but did run into the issue of some flash drives needing additional power so I have to hook up my battery pack to it for those. I use it for both seminary school and church related research, notes and more. Once again thank you for the video.
Watching this four years later… what a great video. It’s also so interesting so see how much has changed in four years. I expected you to show people how to add a site to their Home Screen. That’d be a great tip to show, even now. Makes a website kind of like an app, with an icon on the Home Screen to tap.
I have watched a couple of videos of yours but never subscribed. But this video literally compelled me to do so. I have had iPads for so long but always got frustrated by them and eventually sold them. Went back to MacBooks. But the safari thing. Simple magic. Lol. I never ever thought that way. Thank you so much.
@@JerrySchulze yes indeed. In fact i am starting to work on browser now and deleted many apps. I will see for the next few days if i get comfortable with it and might just use it full time. Haha. Thanks man. Sometimes a simple tip can change everything.

yes for real, I now removed all the basic phone app like shopping, social media except for Messenger which Mac also have and I only kept the pro apps and games :))) and the Safari was a most comprehensive computer part on my iPad after updated iPad OS 15 :)))
Tip! Add websites that you use often to your home screen (Share button → Add to Home Screen) to make it easier to get to it than typing its URL in Safari. Here’s hoping that Safari on iPadOS supports pinned tabs soon, as I find that really useful to have a default set of tabs open and mapped to hot keys (like CMD+1, etc.)

I have not had issues printing from my 6 year old HP printer and making the iPad You primary computer takes effort. If you like to figure things out or are not a power user of a computer the iPad can make a great option.
Still some gaps in being a laptop. Many browser extension couldn’t be installed. The File Manager is also confusing and not at all useful. It’s getting there but not quite. I only use it to take notes during lectures
Thanks for watching! I don’t think that it can work for everyone but there are a lot of people who don’t have power user needs that this could work for. Just like any 2-in-1 devices there are some sacrifices.
Jerry Schulze Coding wise, no reason Apple or the OS was incapable of but it will surely kill the MacBook Pro series. Battery life is a primary and that’s reason why iPad was useful over Macbook Pro
Completely agree that battery life is one of the big reasons that I have made the switch. Standby battery life in particular. I can lock the iPad and come back in 8 hours and maybe lose 1%.
While I love my iPad & use it often, there are 2 reasons why I keep another laptop: 1. The file management system isn't fully functional like Android's file system 2. Microsoft Office is very limited
Martin Waring I use office on iPad as much as possible. When I have more advanced work spreadsheets i can RDP or Citrix into my work stuff and do it there.
File management needs to improve. It should be more user friendly. Also the workflow for sharing files, opening a file in a certain app etc can be improved. Its not fast.. It should be like right click and open the file with... Or right click to share the file... Just like in windows..
Pri Pri hi, you can right click files in the Files app. I have a video about slow USB with iPad that shows that. But...Files app is very buggy, slow, and yes, sharing could be better.
But what about Microsoft apps? Would using safari be much more helpful? Like excel, powerpoint or word does that work well when using the online version in safari?
How about the experience of touch only usage? If you're using a physical keyboard and mouse, I can see using Safari for most things, but if you're just using touch, aren't apps designed for this going to be easier?
Jerry... For starters great video! You could be a sales guy at Apple! What’s your opinion on the Magic Mouse 2? I have the Logitech MX anywhere 2s and the scrolling isn’t smooth like the trackpad on the Magic Keyboard. It’s a small gripe but was thinking of upgrading... Take care... P

can you safe a Safari website on your iPad "Desktop" ?
Im using iPad Pro 11 2018 64GB Cellular and I wanted to buy mouse for it, but I saw Microsoft Arc mouse isn't working well, I don't want magic keyboard case because its really expensive (I have folio from Logitech) and you cant lay the iPad with magic case down, your video about magic mouse helped me. I think trackpad experience is better than mouse experience, now after the "mouse update", so I will maybe buy magic trackpad, because it is standalone accessory with right feel in you hand and better experience while using it and I love my Logitech case (better, safer for travelling, more comfortable while drawing/writing without taking the iPad out of it, function keys)
I dont im going to switch ti ipad cuz i have a high end pc which i use for both work and gaming not to mention i like the desktop version of work apps but just for everyday use apps i woulda say the ipad wins
Thanks for the info on using the iPad more like a laptop. It is my “go to” everyday device. I just wish it could use the What’s Up App like the iPhone. Perhaps in the future, the Apple people would allow the iPad to interface with the iPhone on What’s up. And yes, I’d be getting the Magic (everything is “Magic” to Apple these days) Mouse (thanks to your other video) mouse to use it with the iPad. Can’t use the trackpad, as hard as I’ve tried, can’t get used to it. The mouse’s right-click feature is a MUST since I do a lot of text editing. Thanks again for the review. The iPad is not quite a laptop, but sure has opened another “world” of user interface since it would offer the best of both mobile worlds. Be blessed!
So with WhatsApp that is because of the way WhatsApp is built, not an issue with Apple. However, it looks like there are some rumors that there will be cross device syncing coming for WhatsApp. For me, the iPad keeps getting better because remote access tool I use for work like Citrix, or remote to personal devices have been updated for full ipad mouse support.
I'm the kind of user that you describe. And the only computer I own is a 2012 MacBook Air with 512 SD that will need a replacement soon. My biggest concern is that there may a bigger learning curve than I want to get proficient with the iPad. I want to be able to continue using the Safari the way I do now. For example, I have about 33 Safari windows in my dock, and another few open on the screen. And all those windows have a lot of tabs open on them. Can I get away with that on the MacBook Pro? Or is that too much to ask of it?
I assume you mean on the iPad Pro? Yes you can open a ton of tabs but older ones may reload when you go back to them. Good thing about Apple’s return policy is that you have 2 weeks to request return and another 2 weeks to return after requesting return. So you get a month to try and see if it will work for you. Good luck!
@@JerrySchulze That's very useful, Jerry. I guess my real question is that if I'm not going to use either one for portability, then would it be better have a MacBook Air or the iPadPro sitting at my desk? I know the iPadPro is more powerful, but is that even going to matter for the kind of usage that you describe most users wanting, myself included? One friend argued that even as a laptop the iPadPro would be better given my kind of usage. No video editing, no complex applications, etc.
So, if you do not have a desktop or other computer of any kind I would say MacBook, just in case. If you have any type of computer sitting around that if you needed you could jump on, I would try to go all in on the iPad. It is a fantastic tablet and a pretty good computer.
