Biking the French Broad River Greenway | Asheville, NC

- I expected to see tubing, paddle boards and canoes...I expected to see quirky, modern art...what I did not expect was to end up riding my bike on a classic, stock car race track from back-in-the-day. But that's exactly what happened. On a bike trail trip, there's a surprise around every corner. And maybe even a motor home...or a whole slew of 'em. Join me as I explore the French Broad River Greenway in Asheville, North Carolina on this edition of Joyful Trails.
I'm Scott. I explore, review and rate bike trails on this channel...and hopefully find a little joy in the journey. Thanks for watching!

We went to Asheville to tour the Biltmore because it is the "Home of Modern Forestry" in North America. The Biltmore Estate was the first place to officially hire a professional forester in order to sustain their forests. Something like 17,000 acres, I believe. We also met up with some UA-cam friends of mine and kayaked the French Broad through the Biltmore Estate. That was a cool experience to get to see the mansion from the river. I am an Ag teacher and we actually have to teach our students how to use the Biltmore Stick to measure trees, to determine their volume. As you could probably guess, the Biltmore Stick was developed on the Biltmore Estate and is still used to day.
Another cool video, Scott. I will have to carry our bikes next time that we go to Asheville and ride that racetrack! That would be cool! Thanks for sharing!
There were lots and lots of tubers and kayakers and canoers on the river the day that I went, which was the Fourth of July. I think they were as many people on the river as on the trail!
Love it!
Thanks for watching.
Love your sense of humor 😂
Well done, I really enjoyed it.
Love the sarcasm about the liberal stronghold that Asheville is, lol!!!
Great video! Thank you! I’m about 2 hours east of Asheville and I had no clue about this trail, maybe because as a conservative, I don’t visit Asheville much, lol!!!
It is a beautiful area though.🚴🚴
Land of the Weird and the Woke! It can be fun to visit though…Just be off the streets by sundown. 😂
I have come across a few of your vids before. But the introduction to Ashville got me to subscribe. 😁 The rest was well done too
Ha! Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy…
After watching, I feel joyful. Nice work!
Looks great
Always Enjoy following you on your trails!! Keep them coming !! Asheville a cool place to visit for a short time!! 😊
Thanks! 😬
You are hilarious and funny. I usually don’t like you tubers You’re the best!!!!
You are so funny. Great video. I especially loved seeing the vegan messaging! What a welcome treat-thanks so much for including that. ❤
Thank you. And thanks for watching. 🙂
some of the best riding in Asheville and some of the most normal people are the gravel trails all around the Biltmore Estate you can ride about 20 miles and its fabulous
Ooo…I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the tip!
How bikeable is downtown Asheville? Would be awesome to go up the yellow brick I-26 and bike around Asheville too instead of having to drive from point to point. Great video I think I need to move the French Broad up my to visit list!
I don’t know… to be honest I do as little road biking as possible. I tend to always stay on greenways, rail trails and riverwalks, stuff like that. But yeah, the French Broad is a fun ride.
Nice bro 👌🏻
Thanks 🙂
Nice video. How many miles is the greenway?
When you try to get an answer that question online, you get a bunch of different responses. All I can say is it “felt” like about two or 3 miles on each side of the river.
French broad? Surprised they haven't re-named it the French non-binary trail.
Ha! I should’ve thought of that joke… 😂
I love me some hot and busty French broads
You must be such a NICE person.
love your videos
Thank you!
Think you should leave the politics out of your videos, other than that, nice work.
Thanks. Oh, trust me, I don’t go in hard at all. Personally, I’m somewhere to the right of Ben Shapiro…
@@joyfultrails GOOD BOY!
Nope, too creepy. Too bad. Way to turn off potential views.
"Creepy?" Please explain.
@@joyfultrails They can't, their brains are dead.
