I would use a 3M V-Cat roller for those indented channels. Using your fingers won't provide adequate pressure to activate adhesion for a quality install.
Chris Cork heat is used to soften vinyl so it stretches easier and also used to shrink back to original shape. When you use heat you have a greater chance of over stretching. The most important time is to post heat the entire car.

just wrap your squeegee in a microfiber towel so it's thick but thinner than your finger and go over the area and save yourself some money.

Look up impact outlines, you'll get a cd with all the vehicles in eps, ai, cdl etc and also a reference book
