Well I really like what you did there because I told my husband that I needed to run a hose to my washer to get it full enough. However, when he didn't want to do that I had to figure something out besides adding water by hand which is what I had been doing with a gallon jug. For people who are afraid to do something like this (and there are people who will be afraid), after playing with my settings over and over trying to get more water I did find a fix for the exact machine you are showing because it's mine. If you push the pause/lid lock but once it pauses. If you finish filling up the machine as much as it will go and close the lid, then push that button 4 times it will fill an additional 20-30 seconds. I find that I can usually do this between 2-6 times depending on how large my load is and get enough water that way without altering anything. I just have to have a few minutes to stand there and do it. But it works. So basically pause, run, pause, run and it fills on up. If you open the lid while you are doing this it stops and you just do it again. You can do it as many times as you feel you need to and it should not hurt your washer at all. When it rinses it always fills up more than enough so it only has to be done during the washer fill up cycle. Hope this helps someone who doesn't want to tackle adding a hose. Although, I do love your idea and it definitely will do the trick if you're handy like that.
This is a good work-around, but gosh darned frustrating that we have to do this! This is craziness that today's washers are so pitiful! If you have an oldie-but-a-goody FIX it if you possibly can! Even if the fix is the price of a "new" machine. You will NOT regret keeping your oldie alive! Trust those of us who are watching this video.
An old lady from church, her washer isn't filling up all the way. She's been adding water with a pitcher.... Conns said they'll charge a $100 service call fee. Then parts and labor since the warranty expired.... Im doing this to her washer tomorrow instead. Thanks so much for the video!
Thought my brand new GE washer was broken. After selecting my wash settings on BULK and HOLDING DEEP FILL button for a few seconds it worked. The tub filled significantly higher. It's still not as full as a traditional washer but a good improvement. I will try it on other cycles as well. Thanks AL for the suggestion!!!!
I was frustrated with my new GE top load washer because it wasn't putting enough water in it. So after adding buckets of water to where it needed to be I thought this is ridiculous. Out of frustration, I tried my normal method (soap then put clothes on top of that)& pushed down on the agitator, closed the lid and pushed start. I know it sounds silly but I get the proper water level EVERY TIME! This is much better than carrying buckets of water. I hope it works for you guys.
I have never been so disappointed. Thought I was going to love ba ing brand new set ,but both have been nothing but disappointment. I thought my water level sensor was bad until I saw this video. Insane that they think 6" of water is enough to wash clothes. 3 pair of jeans is all I dare put in at one time. Same with bath towels. Its a joke!
So I figured out the newer GE washers. I as well thought my washer didn't have the screw-based analogue sensor. There was nothing that looked like one on my washer. I have a 2019 GE frontloader model: GFWS1705S. Under the top, there is a little black box connected to a rubber hose and looks like a fat relay with red, yellow, and blue wires in a 3-wire connector. Mine was mounted just under the top to the right. It's part number is: 31690007 / 11201005000003. I had to take the cover off and low and behold, it's a pressure switch just like the others and the screw was hidden inside. :) I turned the screw 4 rotations clockwise (tightened) and now the water level is 1/3 up the glass door.
I did this with my machine sometime back, except I didn’t hook it up the way you did. I just hooked my hose to my kitchen sink and run it into the washer, either way, I wanted to see how deep I could get it, so I could wash my own comforters in my own machine and when it reached a certain level, that washing machine automatically kicked in and drained that tub of water that I had just filled up. So just beware that once you hit a certain level closer to the top, your machine is going to automatically drain and you can’t stop it.
I hate these new efficient washer. My clothes are not clean or rinsed well. I was told to use high efficient soap that is still left on my clothes especially on black or color clothing. I would not believe when I peak in side and saw very little water in the tube of the washer. Heck I have to wash everything twice and rinse everything three times > How it this saving on water usage. I have purchase two washer thinking that I got taken when I purchase an GE Washer. So I went an purchase another band with an extra rinse but again not much water was added to the tube even on selection of heavy load. I even spoke to the repair man about even buying a commercial model and he told me not to because the same issue happen that washer have been programmed to use less water. Thank you so much from sharing with us such a simple fix. Q: Does your wife add more water doing the rinse cycle to ensure that the soap has been properly rinsed out completely?
THANK YOU!!!!!!’ The guy came out and did an update. The new update as of when he came out in July 2021, made my ge deepfill STOP being a deep fill. Now the normal load on super is as big as the bulky items load which is the same as it the deep fill. IM PISSED. I called the tech back and he said the new update makes it have less water. So I’ve been using my mop bucket to add buckets to the load. He shrugged and left when I told him. Jerk. So thank you thank you for this!!!!! No more buckets for me! YES!!! ALL THESE RULES FROM OUR JOKE OF A G. O. V. T. DRIVES ME INSANE.
Isn't that a shame that we have to do all this stuff just to get water enough to clean our clothes, the old washers were superior to these. We women don't like them and they need to listen!
@@Lyndeejo88 yeah the whole idea of saving water is just stupid because then the machine just ends up using more energy because it takes so long for just a regular cycle.
Blame it on Nancy Pelosi. She and her environment wacko associates, using stealth measures, pushed this and other annoyances through Congress. They did this by tacking amendments on to legitimate legislation without full exclosure. Since most Congressman don't fully read what they are voting on, this measure was adopted. So much for "Open Government".
Easy way to fix this issue is take the lock off the lid keep it placed in the lock position and fill with a hose from a sink or buckets of water AFTER the wash cycle starts.
I am doing this today. I have a Cabrio top load HE that never cleans or completely rinses. I have to run 2x or extra rinses. How is that efficient? Thanks for this easy fix!
Glad you like it. I have recently changed my parents setup and thought I would pass it along. My mother is kind of short and was having a problem reaching the splitter - I didn't feel comfortable leaving the garden hose on all the time because of the durability issue - I purchased another washing machine hose and then added an outdoor spigot to it - basically the same setup, only now it can be left on at the splitter and is much easier for her to use.
Regarding the model in this video...all ya have to do, is keep hitting the deep fill button ( on, then off, then on) and it will fill up to the max [3 gallons] at a time. In the alternative, just hold down the same button for 3 seconds and then it "deep-fills". One might add a gallon or two since the so-called deep fill is a bit lacking. But it beats having a workshop in your laundry room. Of course one can simply return the machine and buy an old-school timer-based machine instead too, (yes they still make them), and much cheaper as well. Of course the same timer based classics don't need pricey soap either.
Mine was delivered today and I'm so over it already. I do animal rescue/rehab. No way I have time for a load half ass washed i have to babysit with more water n extra cycles. Efficiency??😵😂
I think it looks easy enough for me to attempt myself...... If I ever get around to it 😉. I will probably just stand there and open and close the lid over and over again just to to add shots of water
A whole lot of work when you can still buy Speed Queens that will let you pick a water level. My HE washer died after only four years of light use. Love that I can now do a load of laundry in only 30 minutes. And my towels come out clean and fluffy because they're washed in an appropriate amount of water.
Not sure if this will work. Most of these washers drain the old water out when the load is first started. Try using the hose to soak the clothes for five or so minutes so they will weigh more. Then turn it on and the excess water will drain out but the clothes are still soaked and weigh more. Or maybe add the water after the machine is done filling. Before filling will not work because the air pressure tube senses the water is there. But you would have to do the same at rinse time. My favorite is simply attaching lead weights or any heavy item evenly around the sides of the tank about one foot above the bottom. Would void a warranty if left on when a tech shows up so keep it removable. Heavy magnets from a CPU hard drive will hold weight to the steel drums and easy to remove. Works. Some drums are plastic. I've played with stuffing filled balloons in the legs of jeans to increase the weight. Most of the time works but the ballons can get squashed and burst. The computers adjust the levels from the weight of the clothes. The smart solution is to find the schematics for any HE washer and locate the screw by the air pressure tube and make minor adjustments to it until the desired level is reached. No need to ever do it again. Very few women are going to mess with using the hose or balloon method every time they do a load. Only alpha men will.
On my Kenmore HE, I just let the machine fill as much water as it can initially. Then after it stops filling, I open the lid and add more water as shown in the video. I tried adding before the fill but the machine would just drain it out when you started the cycle. Do it mid-cycle (before agitation or just at the start) and it worked.
I just grabbed an old refrigerator drawer and I just fill it up and throw it in. Only takes about 2 times to get the level up. You can also get the clothes heavy with water. Turn it off by holding 3 seconds, and then restart it. Since the machine weighs the clothes to tell how much water to add, this almost always fills it 3/4 of the way.
Note to the author: Pressing deep fill will only add a bit more water. Pressing and holding deep fill for 3 seconds will provide a full fill. This valuable information is available in the owners manual. ;-)
I have a Maytag. Pressing Deep Fill provide a 14" fill for most cycles, but.. not necessarily right at the beginning of the cycle. The machine will start with the partial fill on most cycles to allow a concentrated mix of water and detergent to penetrate the clothes PRIOR to adding the remainder of the water. This improves cleaning performance.
Every model has it's draw backs. On this machine in the video, one cannot skip to rinse without sacrificing the ability to "deep-fill". Of course, the so-called deep-fill is about four gallons lacking: it doesn't even cover all available drain holes in the drum. Which leaves wasted drum space during large load washing.
i have the same washer and dryer . i followed the manual . the deep fill does not do what it's suppose to do . called GE had a tech come out . he said the washer was ok . just don't ad to much clothing . i give up . so i just ad 2 buckets of water after the wash cycle starts .
Why don't you try during load sensing just wetting the clothes to make them heavier I dobfhis and it works fine gets enough water to wash load but do not make it to heavy or machine will fill all the way to the top if you only have a medium loax
I have to add 5 buckets of water to mine after it fills. Pain in the a$$ to fill and carry 5 buckets from the kitchen!! This is a much better fix than messing with buckets.
I’m sticking with my 20 year old Kenmore/Whirlpool top loader because of this. This is the slow encroachment of big government micromanaging our daily lives.
You can let it fill , then change it to a different cycle and back to the one you want . Then when you start tap the start button till you get the amount of water you want .
This is such a clever hack! Thank you so much for sharing! My washer is stackable so the dryer cover over where the hoses connect to the wall. Any ideas on how to get around that?
6" of water! I thought mine was bad. I use same settings Deep Fill, Max, Cold and Deep Clean (still don't know what the heck that means) for all my different loads. Personally, I think all those other options (except maybe for Delicate or Drain & Spin) mean squat. Just manufacturer's way of making you think you have some control over something. Which of course, you don't! I never use "Precise Fill" because that's only for weighing load when you add clothes first. I don't. I press "Start" first and while water is coming in, I add detergent so it mixes w/water. Once it's completed filling (hah), THEN I add laundry pushing it down in water w/big wooden spoon. If I don't think water level that's already in machine is covering the load enough, I add one or two or three of the handy dandy gallon jugs of water I always keep in the laundry room. The hose/splitter set up is good. But my water line hookup is too far behind my machine & dryer for me to reach comfortably. So for me, the jug method works fine. In the end, all of us nowadays have to gerry-rig whatever works in order to override and compensate for Big Brother's wonderful, "time/energy saving new technology" BS. Ugh! One other thing about this piece of crap GE, I've never had a machine get as unbalanced - so often - as this one. Like others, I hate it.
That's genius!!!! Much better than modifying the machine to automatically fill to super load level of water like the old designs that worked properly and perfectly. I like to babysit my washers too!!!! Do you change their diapers?
That's not a bad solution, but isn't it kind of too much just to have the machine use the proper amount of water? I think it would be a lot easier to just buy a machine that fills all the way to the top, such as a Speed Queen TC5, or maybe a second hand Direct Drive?
agree this is a very annoying feature. i live in an apartment that i pay $45 a month extra to have one of their stackable washer dryer sets. i have to fill a large pot with water. my washer is a basic model. so i dont have all thoes cool buttons. but i watched a video before i seen this one. and i saw that if you hold down yoir deep fill button for a few secs, it gives a larger fill. have you tried doing that? it was the same exact deep fill button you have. you press it once, and the hold down the button
Yeah, unfortunately we have tried that and usually just leave the deep fill on. It basically works the way you mentioned.. If you hold it in for 1 second, it lets a little more water in and then if you hold it in for 3 seconds, it lets a little more. All in, it's about 8 inches and that still not enough for a full load of towels. I understand the need to conserve water, but 8 inches is ridiculous.. The next washer will not be a GE..
My washer fills up for washing but not on rinse The small amount of water pushes all the clothes to one side and then when it go into spin it will bounce around like crazy it not stopped it might break the water line What I do is when it go to rinse I turn it back to wash with no detergent then when done turn over to spin. No problem, no money,
You're funny. I'm going to go to this site for my morning laugh every day before heading out to work. I ride a horse all day on a ranch and he never laughs.
It looks like they have the same machine, but I put extra pails of water into the washing machine and guess what happened the water drained out automatically so I could not have extra water in it. It’s washing machines are crazy today we need clean clothes.
I'm wondering if something else is going on with your machine. I have the exact same unit that I purchased back in November and I've never had any issues with only getting 6 inches of water. When I select super with the deep fill, it will fill to about 5 or 6 inches from the top of the tub.
This is the second washer - we thought the first was messed up because the GE videos show a lot more water in the tub also. We had GE service come out a week ago - they hooked up their computer and no codes - wouldn't let him leave, told him 6" was ridiculous... so he ran another program against the washer's fill cycle, his computer showed there should be 8" instead of the 6" that were in it, so he ordered a new board for it to see if that would help - 8" isn't much more but would be better than 6.. My parents have city water in a newer home - I mention this because they have good water pressure - with the GE machine, on super, it fills for approximately 8-1/2 minutes - people with poor pressure are screwed even more. Maybe they changed the machines up at the beginning of the year or maybe the new board will fix the issue. I will update the comments next week if it does.
YES-!! I bought one a few months ago - SPEED QUEEN is the last of the old school commercial duty washers. I bought one and have none of the reliability or performance issues of the new HE machines. The water level on highest setting was about two inches below top set of tub holes, I just adjusted the water level control and it fills up all the way on the ex large load setting. I also defeated the lid switch, now I have a brand new washer without any govt. interference.
The issue here is not that it puts in only 6 inches of water. You are supposed to add the clothes first and then the machine weighs them and puts in the "appropriate" amount of water for that specific load. Each load will put in a different amount of water depending on the weight. The reason it is only putting in 6 inches of water is because the tub is empty of clothes. Although I still think it doesn't put in enough water. See my answer above as to what I did to remedy this without making any changes. Good luck.
I found that all he washers when people actually pay attention to what there washers are doing to there clothes the machine is not working . My new maytag you can't fill with extra water because it will drain and then restart I guess to prevent us from doing this. It sucks
A little off topic but is that a filtration of some sort u have on between the Spicket and the washer hoses? If so what kind? We're on well water that clogs ours so I was curious!
This washer will deep fill if using the selection properly. Select your cycle. Let the washer fill and begin to wash. Then push the deep fill option. Make sure the deep fill option light is off when starting the cycle. Push once to add 3 gallons, again to add 3 gallons etc. Or push and hold the deep fill button for 3to5 seconds and it will do a full fill. Try it. Hope this helps.
I tried this but it did not work. After my load started washing I pushed the Deep Fill button and it didn't even add water so I guess it thought I had enough. Also when I pushed it again it just turned off the light. I tried pushing a couple of different times at different speeds but it just turns the light on and off so mine doesn't work this way. But I found my own way using the pause/start button. After cycle starts you have to open the lid and immediately close it and it goes into pause, then immediately after closing the lid you push the pause button off pause, on pause back off pause and on that time the washer will fill up for an additional 20-30 seconds. This can be done over and over to achieve the desired water level.
I think you must have a different washer than I do because I let my washer fill up and start the wash cycle then I pushed the deep fill button and the light came on but it only added a small amount. I tried pushing more than once to and even pushing and holding it but all this button does on my washer is turn deep fill off or on. It doesn't add extra water except a little extra the first time you push it. I have the exact same washer as this guy has in the pic of this video though. Thanks for trying to help us all with washer issues.
They do have a sensor but if you do this just for the purpose of soaking the clothes, they will be heavier and the machine will add more water than otherwise.
I LOVE this idea!! However in my machine I’ve tried pouring a bucket of water inside the drum for extra water and the stupid machine just drains it right out as soon as I do it!😡. Any tips on how to solve that issue?
As long as you have wet the clothes that makes them heaver and the machine will put out moee water because it thinks it is a bigger load do it with my washer all the time and it works
We did this and the stupid thing has a water level sensor and washer broke. We are denied water by these crap people just make sure you don't get too full like near the top of agitator
Water level is easy, EASY to adjust! This is for Whirpool wet4027ew washer/dryer combo, but the pressure switches are basically the same. Don't do this hose fix, that's bush. Remove 3 screws on top panel, top of machine. Don't mess with anything there. Pull back the black curtain and look to the right. You'll see a clear tube going to a pressure switch. The switch can be removed by the 1 screw on top. There are three adjustment screws. The bottom one adjusts the big load level, the left adjusts the small load. Turn the screw clockwise to add more water. I didn't unplug it, rather just stuck a screwdriver in the lid switch and filled it up. When it shuts off, rotate the screw until it starts to fill again, then back off a half turn. Seriously it's just that easy! What a pain this is for so many people. I hope this helps. Oh, if you smoke, please use ashtrays. I'm done here...
I actually have a 2 gallon pitcher that I insert say 2 of my heavy items in the pitcher. They are saturated heavy wet & I lay on top of the bottom dry items. Fills a lot more, as it then senses more weight when I start it & it doesn’t drain them as there is no loose water. I want to buy a machine that I don’t need to do this?
Yes but after I filled the water to desired level , push required buttons went right to drain cycle , spun water out .... Help!!! with these Government Machines please
Useful but in the same time very annoying the best solution is to get a front loader adjusting the water level on those is much easier and they are very effective
So you have to stand there for all the cycles. no thanks. Why not call and complain to your congressman repeatedly until they get control of the EPA and stop this runaway Nanny state!
Brandywine Sustainable Farm I completely agree but if your stuck with one of these washers and you can't even wash a simple comforter cuz it won't fill up enough..atleast this would help get it clean..k absolutely hate these washers. we use our washers alot at work and our consumers have accidentally and have to wash their bedding almost every day and it's literally not getting the bedding clean..it still smells like urine..so what is the point. I thought the machine was broken.j reported it to maintence and they then told me it's a high efficiency and it's not suppose to fill the whole way...wtf..ridiculous.i love it when my clothes have room k. the water to get clean and get the dirt and odor out. they can not possibly tell us that your clothes get just as clean..I'll call bullshit on that. .but sad part is..we wouldn't be allowed to do this at work considering we have to have everything in their homes perfect..hell you can't even have a tiny hole in a couch cushion..
Thanks for the Laugh. Call your congressman. Maybe the President might help as he likes to issue executive orders killing regs. Good luck. I'm in Canada and wrote my Prime Minister. My guy loves regs. If you have a smart husband (i.e. can fix a motorcycle engine) all you need to do is pull the back panel off, use a screwdriver and turn the screw 1/2 turn at a time one way or the other until you are happy. The screw is by the air pressure tube. Will take a half-hour testing the levels until you pick the correct one. Find a service manual to download for any HE washer and you will understand.
All you have to do is put the clothes in and wet them thoroughly. Don't just pour water in the tub. The machine will spin it out when it starts up. Wetting the clothes will trick the washer into thinking it has more clothes in it than it does because of the extra weight and will fill up with enough water to efficiently wash the clothes. Don't use the sensor setting. Use the deep fill setting. The clothes come out perfect. No offense but using a hose to do the laundry is kind of lame. It's too much work and I'm not risking getting water all over my floor.
Your next problem would be those fill hoses floodsafe not good for sensor machines 20y years experience doing laundry that water should go on top of the clothes 👍
I’m by no means a renegade… HOWEVER I think it’s BS that our government feels we don’t have enough damn sense to wash clothes “properly”!!! if they do want to control something I don’t think control these little girls who run around and have a whole flock of children that we as a whole end up taking care of??? Now that’s something they need to control not my washing machine!!! 🤦🏽♀️
This will not work with all top loaders. When I add water to my stupid machine, it senses it and freaking DRAINS the (added) water back out, then resumes doing its thing: Producing sour, foul-smelling, dirty wet laundry.
I tried to fill little more water, my GE washer just ejected completely water out and it refilled again, I lost all the soap I added. My washer model is GUD24ESSMWW
Theres got to be a better way, find some method to alter or modify the load level / water control switch, maybe an appliance repair guy could give some handy "advice" in this area-lol
I added a 5 gallon bucket of water before I put the clothes on, then selected the normal cycle and the samsung washer emptied the extra water and then proceeded with the normal cycle. It defeated the purpose. Any ideas?
After playing with my settings over and over trying to get more water I did find a fix for the exact machine you are showing because it's mine. If you push the pause/lid lock but once it pauses. If you finish filling up the machine as much as it will go and close the lid, then push that button 4 times it will fill an additional 20-30 seconds. (It might already pause when you open the lid and then you only push it 3 times). I find that I can usually do this between 2-6 times until I get the desired amount of water. I just have to have a few minutes to stand there and do it. But it works. So basically pause, run, pause, run and it fills on up. If you open the lid while you are doing this it stops and you just do it again. But you do have to open the lid and reclose it each time you do it because it triggers the pause to come on and then when you close the lid you can fill it by pressing the pause off/pause on/pause off and it will keep on filling.
MaCarmen Arocena Start your load normal. After water is dispensed pause the washer and add the water u want and close the door and press the same button again " start." I have to press pause so the door can open to add more water.and press the same button to start again after adding more water.
That's just so fucked up that that they do this shit.! I put my sheets fluffy ones in the washer I took them out it didn't even pull them down it's the washer that does not have the agitator. Plus it's a cheap one that came with the house it's a Cabrio.! I want to know how to get this water deeper nothing's getting cleaned everything still stinks well stained I should say if we did have stinky clothes it wouldn't wash them like my big heavy blankets I wash them here I have to take them to a laundromat
What a joy helping mama out.
Although, I do love your idea and it definitely will do the trick if you're handy like that.
Thank u so much I will try it ^^
Are you saying that u fill it up and then hit deep fill 4x? It's not working with the lid closed or open?
Brilliant idea, my wife is frustrated with having to fill up by hand with plastic gallon jugs. I’m going to do this today. Thanks for the video.
I hope it works for you guys.
it is sad that you have to do this to a brand new washing machine. The new washers are a frickin joke.
I know! I wish I had my old one back
You don’t read my comment above
I have never been so disappointed. Thought I was going to love ba ing brand new set ,but both have been nothing but disappointment. I thought my water level sensor was bad until I saw this video. Insane that they think 6" of water is enough to wash clothes. 3 pair of jeans is all I dare put in at one time. Same with bath towels. Its a joke!
Looks like a great idea.
You could even put a nozzle on the end of the hose instead of the end cap.
Excellent!! Thanks! I even had all the parts I needed to do this at home already. Didn't need to go out to buy them.
This is a an awesome answer that I’ve be looking for, because my Maytag does not fill up enough to wash my clothes properly!
THANK YOU!
Woo hoo!!!! Thank you!!!! You have made me very happy!!!
I HATE these H.E washers, so funny that they regulate our water in our washers .. but sell 5/6 shower heads for new steam showers Messed up!!
WE MEN DON'T LIKE THEM EITHER 😒
@@Lyndeejo88 yeah the whole idea of saving water is just stupid because then the machine just ends up using more energy because it takes so long for just a regular cycle.
Blame it on Nancy Pelosi. She and her environment wacko associates, using stealth measures, pushed this and other annoyances through Congress. They did this by tacking amendments on to legitimate legislation without full exclosure. Since most Congressman don't fully read what they are voting on, this measure was adopted. So much for "Open Government".
Vote Trump he despises water savers in any area of appliances 🇺🇸
COMMON SENSE IS ALIVE AND WELL.....THANK YOU
Easy way to fix this issue is take the lock off the lid keep it placed in the lock position and fill with a hose from a sink or buckets of water AFTER the wash cycle starts.
How do you take lock off?
I am doing this today. I have a Cabrio top load HE that never cleans or completely rinses. I have to run 2x or extra rinses. How is that efficient? Thanks for this easy fix!
Glad you like it. I have recently changed my parents setup and thought I would pass it along. My mother is kind of short and was having a problem reaching the splitter - I didn't feel comfortable leaving the garden hose on all the time because of the durability issue - I purchased another washing machine hose and then added an outdoor spigot to it - basically the same setup, only now it can be left on at the splitter and is much easier for her to use.
Hi RH2's! would you consider doing a quick video update or just post a pict of your latest conversion? Thx
You Sir, I nominate for the Nobel Peace Prize. ✌
I just picked this up. I don’t like the water level so I’m taking it back. It was a dumb ass idea to make a washer like this.
Mine was delivered today and I'm so over it already. I do animal rescue/rehab. No way I have time for a load half ass washed i have to babysit with more water n extra cycles. Efficiency??😵😂
I hooked up a hose too , but added a nozzle. Thanks.
Omg!!! You saved me!!! I’ve been having this problem forever!!! Just hope my hubby will do it for me!!! Ha ha ha
I will stick with my 30+-year-old Harvest Gold Maytag washer, over any of these new HE pieces of crap, LOL.
We did the same thing with a fron loader. Be aware that the on off valve doesn't last to long and may cause a leak.
This valuable information is available in the owners manual. ;-)
Wish Maytag worked like this... It doesn't, however.
All I have is a dial that says deep water wash. No button to hold.
So much more work. I used to fill up tubs with a hose as a girl to wash clothes.
you are a genius , thank you
i have the same washer and dryer . i followed the manual . the deep fill does not do what it's suppose to do . called GE had a tech come out . he said the washer was ok . just don't ad to much clothing . i give up . so i just ad 2 buckets of water after the wash cycle starts .
My 6 yr old top loader Kenmore washer is in storage because my Apt complex will not let me use it. I have to use their HE washer and dryer that suck!
from my understanding, you have to use the bulky option and hold the deep fill button for about 5 seconds or so and then it will fill.
Bulky option does not add anymore water
No deep fill button
You can let it fill , then change it to a different cycle and back to the one you want . Then when you start tap the start button till you get the amount of water you want .
I believe every time you push deep fill you get an extra amount of water to a certain maximum level possible. At least my works that way.
Is the problem because of well and pressure tank systems?
This is such a clever hack! Thank you so much for sharing!
My washer is stackable so the dryer cover over where the hoses connect to the wall. Any ideas on how to get around that?
Thank you very much, but will that also work with a Whirlpool Cabrio platinum
Doesn't the water level sensor just drain the water to the pre-calibrated level on most he washers
Thank You Sir, Thank You.
Spend the extra $ and get the new Speed Queen TC5 you won't be disappointed !
Does it drain all the way?
Add the dry clothes right after filling, and you're golden!
vegasrenie really? I am going to try this.
Genius!
My washer fills up for washing but not on rinse The small amount of water pushes all the clothes to one side and then when it go into spin it will bounce around like crazy it not stopped it might break the water line What I do is when it go to rinse I turn it back to wash with no detergent then when done turn over to spin. No problem, no money,
half of the planet is flooded because climate changes and now we have to save water
Thank you thank you so much!!!
They are awful, but mine does have a bulky load setting that does add more water, so I use that for every load.
Random How To's.. if they are fed up with this have them look into speed queen they're still built goodi
Good luck.
Ha ha GMTA ... Did this also ... works awesome.
You don't just push the button. Read my other post and follow the directions exactly.
Thanks for trying to help us all with washer issues.
so when it goes to rinse you fill it up? what if you miss the rinse.. Guess do it again..
This is crazy. Our government must predicting a water shortage.
Doesn't work on mine. I put more water in and it takes it out.
Mine comes with a censure
They do have a sensor but if you do this just for the purpose of soaking the clothes, they will be heavier and the machine will add more water than otherwise.
Wet clothes before you turn on washer that's what I do to mine and it puts out several inches more water
Wait until it is done sensing and starts the wash cycle. Then add extra water.
Sorry wet clothes before turning on washer
Smart man in i did laugh but it was a good move👍🏾
I love how everyone is defeating its purpose. 😀
The purpose is to clean clothes, which can’t be accomplished in a washing machine without sufficient water.
@@cathyoettinger3014 THIS 👆
We did this and the stupid thing has a water level sensor and washer broke. We are denied water by these crap people just make sure you don't get too full like near the top of agitator
Live you idea sir. Ty
My Maytag has a weight sensor & drains it every time I use a pitcher to add extra water?
How will this bypass the load weight sensor?
Jeanne
Wet clothes before you turn on washer
Wait until it is done sensing and starts the wash cycle. Then add extra water
Just used a 5 gallon bucket to add water cost $2.00 at home depot
Can It be done with a 2.0 Magic chef Portable washer Please help.
Don't use the end cap use a on off switch
This will not work with all top loaders. When I add water to my stupid machine, it senses it and freaking DRAINS the (added) water back out, then resumes doing its thing: Producing sour, foul-smelling, dirty wet laundry.
What brand?
There unless take forever to wash and cloth come out dirty
I tried to fill little more water, my GE washer just ejected completely water out and it refilled again, I lost all the soap I added. My washer model is GUD24ESSMWW
Try wetting clothes before you turn on washer then load will weigh more and see what happens my washer puts out more water that way
Theres got to be a better way, find some method to alter or modify the load level / water control switch, maybe an appliance repair guy could give some handy "advice" in this area-lol
Well I'm working on doing that, but for the first step I got rid of that damn LID LOCK- that was the first thing to go bye bye!
I tried something like this and my machine sensed extra water and immediately drained it.
Teresa Jonesy Yep, I have the exact machine that this video is talking about and mine did the same thing.
Wait until it is done sensing and starts the wash cycle. Then add extra water
What brand?
Put those on Craigslist and get her a SPEEDQUEEN. She would be sooooo happy. They are old school and use water.
2018 Speed Queens are junk. See the latest CNET review.
This doesn’t work , the water spins out .

Start your load normal. After water is dispensed pause the washer and add the water u want and close the door and press the same button again " start." I have to press pause so the door can open to add more water.and press the same button to start again after adding more water.
I'm gonna do this!
Repair tech here...nope this isnt going to work. The main board has a sensor that will detect too much water after you do this and simply pump it out.
My top load maytag has a problem hose but it came back
Get side load washers these days
That's just so fucked up that that they do this shit.! I put my sheets fluffy ones in the washer I took them out it didn't even pull them down it's the washer that does not have the agitator. Plus it's a cheap one that came with the house it's a Cabrio.! I want to know how to get this water deeper nothing's getting cleaned everything still stinks well stained I should say if we did have stinky clothes it wouldn't wash them like my big heavy blankets I wash them here I have to take them to a laundromat
OMG! These washer simply suck!
Ridiculous! Just saying... Thanks to the tree huger folks, we have fallen into the newest low flow toilet debacle. Crazy...
seriously is that all you got, wtf, I want to remove the sensor
Or use a bucket
You can’t clean the washer or anything!!! I hate how TVs govt. can do this!!!
Why in God good earth ge would do this let us choose how much water we use .
i HATE these washers with all that I am!
