Thank you for your kind comments
I love that you still comment on these videos, you are a national treasure. From a fellow Canadian from the east :)
I feel you're the Godmother of all of us Sabaton-fans. All of our love is with you!
I, for one, need more heroes in these days. Thanks to Sabaton I have your father in my soul and feel lifted up every time I listen to this song. I am so glad you are here to receive the love on your father's behalf.
@@RubberDuckTrucking Thank you and also greetings from the west
@@PetterVessel And love back to you
Fun fact: Franz Stigler was invited to a reunion for the Bomber group several times and one of the first times, Stigler was looking out on a crowd of people and Stigler said he felt that he shouldn't be there and Charlie took his arm and told him that the people in the crowd were the children and grandchildren of the men that he saved that day.
If you like this you are going to love “Christmas Truce” another song based on a true story. Welcome to Sabaton.
A second recommendation for Christmas Truce. One of the best videos ever made in my opinion.
I concur. You two are great
@@RushAss I concur. Just have the tissues handy when you do this one too (I cry almost every time for both these songs)!
@@elvwood yup, I shamelessly confess that I still tear up whenever I watch/listen to either of them. Cheers!
Christmas Truce will hit the same as this one - especially at the end. Night Witches and Bismarck should be watched as well.
It is perfectly acceptable to get emotional with this song, and other Sabaton songs as well.
Most of their songs are about Military History. They tell the story without taking sides.
Lead singer is Joakim Broden. He and bassist Par Sundstrom are the primary songwriters. Chris Rorland and Tommy Johansson on guitar and drummer Hannes Van Dahl round out the current lineup. (Hannes is married to Nightwish's Floor Jansen).
Thay also have a Sabaton History channel, which gives a deeper history for each song.
Night Witches is another animated story video. Christmas Truce, Bismarck, Soldier of Heaven , The Unkillable Soldier, and Primo Victoria for more.
I always tear up watching this video… the US Army kept this story secret cause they never allowed the enemy to look „human“, and Franz kept it secret cause he had to fear a death sentence for helping an American bomber crew… I love that they were firm friend for 18 years before they passed away! Great story, Sabaton always show these parts of history! Did you check the Sabaton video Christmas Truce? I can guarantee more tears! Greetings from Germany 👍🤘
It's like the Christmas truce. You can't have soldiers humanizing the enemy, or the war machine will grind to a halt.
Sabaton is a band that sings about war history, but they don't glorify war itself, they tell stories about persons and/or events they feel should not be forgotten. Since you have ties to Poland I absolutely recommend their songs Winged Hussars (one of my favorites), 40:1, Uprising and Inmate 4859 (story about Witold Pilecki). Another amazing songs: Christmas Truce, Bismarck, The Last Stand, En Livstid I Krig (it's in Swedish so you'll need to turn on cc)
As they sing in "Aces in exile":
"Let their story be heard..."
Domenica, you have such a wonderful soul. Wish I knew you in person. 🖤
Warm hug for both of you!
Don't be sorry for crying. You're just human. Great reaction.
sabaton are amazing and the drummer hannes is Floor jansen husbnd. you should hear christmas truce floor sings at the end
I cried too. I remember reading that the families of the spared bomber crew met Stigler in the early 90's in a hangar somewhere. I think there were 64 of them then. They wouldn't have existed without his choice. That number is probably in the hundreds now. ••• Thanks! PEACE!!!
Welcome to the sabaton family. They have a history channel with the history around every song. A lot of good songs to hear. If You like they animated try nigjt witches animated song.
Beautiful reaction! Since I believe you are from Poland I think you should check out "Uprising" ( Official music video or official live ) and "40:1" ( Official live). Also check out "Chrismas Truce" ( Music video) where you will hear Floor singing at the end. She is btw married to the drummer of Sabaton.
That "Uprising" is amazing.
A very special song and a very special reaction.
Franz had said in an interview that the only way soldiers could cope with shooting down other planes was to see them as that. Just airplanes to shoot down. When he was lining up the shot on the B-17, he saw the tail-gunner bleeding profusely, so he couldn't do it.
He got Charlie's attention and tried to get him to land the plane and surrender to Germany. Charlie refused, so he tried to get them to head to neutral air space. When Charlie refused again, he decided to escort them to safety, flying close enough to them so the ground weapons couldn't fire, for fear of hitting him, too. What a guy!!
Great Reaction! Greetings from Germany
You have nothing to be ashamed of. Sabaton videos have been known to reduce grown, metal-hardened men to tears.
Christmas Truce and Bismarck might be songs you should do a reaction on. :)
Don't apologize for tearing up. After watching this video and its reactions some 50 times now, I still tear up. It's an amazing story of a man's humanity shining through in such inhumane times.
Fabulous reaction as always. Don't feel shame about the tears, it is very understandable. I have watched this video countless times and once again I have ended up with tears rolling down my face. I am hoping that one day (could be a very long way off) I shall be able to watch it without the tears. Sabaton are a fabulous band and their songs are about historical events. You will be told I suspect that the drummer, Hannes, is married to Floor Jansen. You are about to embark on a very enjoyable journey. Take care both.
Welcome to the World of Sabaton👍
I tear up every time I see this video, don't feel bad for being emotional and opening your heart, you have a beautiful soul, never change 😍
Great Reaction you both again. A little side Info for you. The Drummer of Sabaton, Hannes, ist the Husband from Floor Jansen of Nightwish.
I love the emotional reaction of Domenica, you are a very precious soul!Don't feel ashamed for your tears. I am an old german guy (62) and I cried way more than you. Maybe cause, my parents suffered a lot during WW ll. My father used to be a fighting pilot and got shot down above Belgium. English soldiers saved his life, cause belgish farmers wanted to burn him alive. My mother had to flee from eastern Prussia, cause russian army conquered the land. She had to go through terrible things, that russian soldiers did to her to her. Probably you can imagine what I am talking about. Please, keep going with your work. You are my favorite reaction couple!
As mentioned many times here Christmas Truce official video is a must. I suggest you have more than one box of tissues at the ready.
That is why we call it a "reaction" video!
Don't feel bad about being emotional. This video made all of us cry.
Be human, cry when art moves you. That is totally fine. We all cried :-)
We loved that the film moved you in this way. Thanks for the great reaction.
Dont feel silly, i totally feel an felt the same as you.. i cried my eyes out too ❤️
One more destroyed bomber and he would’ve revived the knights cross, a super decorated medal.
I would suggest you do Bismarck next, and then Christmas Truce (But have some tissues ready for that one! And listen to Floor singing right at the end) Don't mind the tears, we are crying with you all over the world. Love the two of you, greetings from Namibia.
“Christmas Truce” has already been suggested - I concur! Soon you will also discover, if you continue this journey, that Nightwish and Sabaton have more in common than only the metal music, the fan base, and the tears... and I also have to say, that you two are a fabulous pair ❤
Hey , I was last night at Sabaton show in Bucharest and is fabulous , they are showmen , you need to go one show , for Dominka go check polish history based songs are amazing. Also Sabaton is the best history teacher , ALL facts in songs are documented.
Please don't apologize, this won't be the last time you will cry with Sabaton. Welcome to the Sabaton family! Next try Christmas Truce.
Christmas truce is a must do reaction!!
Thank you for this video!
Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
you are not silly, i get tears in my eyes every single time! SABATON is the best!!
I would recommend "En Livstid I Krig" (the live version from Gothenburg) to show exactly how moving this band can be. And if you want some more upbeat songs about heroism, I would suggest "Race to the Sea" and "Stormtroopers" (just from their latest album).
P.S. Welcome to the start of your Sabaton journey.
Thanks so much for discovering SABATON! Please continue
with this incredible band....by the way, the drummer is married to Floor Jansen from NIGHTWISH. Thanks so much! 👍💖
Beautiful reaction. So dont be sorry, I react the same way every time I watch this video.
Sabaton is a Swedish Power Metal band from Falun, which was formed in 1999. The band's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of the armor that covers the foot.
So all the songs Sabaton sings are based on real historical war events,
Don't feel silly tears are not weakness. You honor those memories of good men who should be remembered with your tears. I cried as well each time watching this video.
Lots of Sabaton songs to be discovered, lots of tears to be shed. A new wonderful journey has just started.
Please check the Sabaton History Channel, a lot of fun and knowledge to be found there.
I spent most of Christmas night (just gone) in tears as I watched 'Christmas Truce'. for the first time. I would highly recommend that you react to that one, but I would suggest that you have a box of tissues on hand! Hannes Van Dahl (the drummer) is married to Floor, so there is a Sabaton/Nightwish crossover. I love the tenderness that you both have for each other, and it makes watching your reactions such a pleasure. Big hug to you both x
“We’re not great, but deep inside there is still goodness in us?” Amen 🙏 yes there is goodness in ALL of us ❤️
I really likes Your reaktion and that you showed Your feelings so openly, greetings from sweden
I really love your genuine reaction, welcome to the world of metal. You are going to love this journey. 🙏🤘🫶🌷🇳🇱
Floor and Sabaton seems to be the only "things" that sets me off nowdays. Pls you should never make apologies for being human. PS. Love your reactions
I've seen reactions to this video many many times and it still brings a tear to my eye every single time. It is an amazing video and you guys did an amazing reaction to it.
Great reaction 👏❤️
I like your reacktion👍👍
Don’t worry about it, I choke up every time at the end of the video.
I’m crying to 😢
There is no shame at getting tears in your eyes over this song, the story is simply moving.
I advise you to listen to a lot more Sabaton, not every story is this moving, but you will learn a lot of history.
Welcome to the huuuuge rabbit hole that is called "Sabaton" ... it is far from a shame to cry from some of their emotional songs, I kinda do every time with this song and I must have heard it a hundred times... Franz's instructor told his pilots, that if he ever saw someone shooting at a parachute, he'd shoot the pilot himself. Franz later said, he saw this plane that could not fight back anymore as a downing parachute, so he decided to help. There are many, maaaaany awesome stories more to explore with Sabaton, be it emotional ones like this, heroic ones, or "just" stunning facts, being told. As other guys in the comments, I'll go with some recommendations for other songs to continue with, these would be "Christmas Truce" , original video, "Livstid I Krig", live in Gothenburg, "Ghost Division", live in Warsaw , "Bismarck", original video, and "Swedish Pagans", live at Wacken featuring Tina Guo. Thank you for the great reaction to my absolute favourite band, and greetings from Germany!
I've seen this video probably a hundred times, and at the end it's still that ninja chopping onions sneaking up on me. Sabaton are masters of pulling heartstrings. "Night witches" (animated story version), "Bismarck" and as people below suggested "Christmas Truce" should be next, as well as "En livstid i krig" (A lifetime of war) live from Gothenburg. Welcome to Sabaton, and greetings from Sweden!
What a heartfelt reaction🥰. Anyone who doesn't get emotional about this video must have a heart of stone. Anyway, welcome into the deep rabbithole of Sabaton. You have now 10 years of great music to discover. The band sings mainly of historical events and teach history with music. They never take sides and never ever glorify war, but they do sing about heroes and highlight their place in history.
Welcome to the awesome rabbit hole that is Sabaton! I agree with some of the other comments that many Sabaton songs are quite emotional (I can think of 3 off hand that have made me shed quite a few tears). I would say that 99% of the things they sing about are real historical events (as others have said focusing mainly on military history, whether that be battles or specific people/events or even technologies (like the advent of the tank for instance)) from all sorts of time periods (lots of WW2 and WW1, but also other eras). While you should eventually try to get to all of their songs, if I had to suggest some off the top of my head, I would say En livstid I Krieg (live version), Valley of Death, Inmate 4859, Christmas Truce and Ghost Division. And I agree that if you want more context (either before watching a song or after) then their history channel would be 100% worth checking out for sure. Either way, I am sure you will both love hearing more of them for sure!
Just a suggestion..keep your tissues close.
You Will need them with your Sabaton journey 🥰
This 54 years young guy needs them still after listening them dozens and dozens of times 😃
You have just started a big rabbit hole. And you will enjoy it as much as the Nightwish rabit hole. Both bands are great storytellers. So much emotions in their songs. If you want to see another great true story, react to Christmas Truce but please watch the video until the very end and maybe you’ll reconize the female voice in the credits. If you want to react to a live performance, please react to “En livstid I krig” in Gothemburg. This one is in swedish but you can’t put the english subtitles. Very emotional as well. As someone said, they have some songs about polish history and a great performance in Woodstock Festival (Poland).
Welcome to the Sabaton hole! This is not you last tears or laughts exploring this travel into the history of brave people in dark times!
There is nothing to apologize for. I cried the time I watched it, and well... A few times after as well. It's a touching story. And I have the exact same feelings, a feeling of hope. That even in the utmost terrible situations, humanity can still prevail. Yes we have our faults, and we will never be perfect but moments like these makes me think there will always be a brighter tomorrow. I love your reactions and I hope you have a wonderful week
Guys, it was GREAT reaction! And very emotion! Thank you so much! )
We will be waiting for more Sabaton, and especially the song of the Night Witches. There's also an animated video.
Hi from Oregon. Hadn't seen this video although I have seen other Sabaton videos. Thanks for doing this reaction. My dad was a B-17 bomber mechanic during WWII, and for 3 years stationed at Horham Airbase in England. He never saw front line fighting but was one of the men who kept patching up the B-17s that made it back. Many didn't, and I am sure he lost many friends and others during that time. He died when I was 9 years old and never heard him talk about his time their. One of my favorites from Sabaton is "Swedish Pagans" with a guest appearance of the world renowned electric cello player, Tina Guo. She doesn't sing but has many instrumental videos you may be interested in. Also, others may have mentioned, the drummer for Sabaton is Floor Jansen's husband and father to their daughter Freja. Here's the link to "Swedish Pagans" with Tina if interested. Here's one of my favorites of Tina's, Wonder Woman Main Theme (Official Music Video, ua-cam.com/video/tI2ASp0f7GU/v-deo.html.
These are stories the world need to hear!
Sabaton are a unique metal band as in they tell stories about military history enjoy yourselves discovering this great band 👍
Sabatonic Metal - History taught with Metal.
10 albums to go....
Don't be sory for crying, I do the same everytime i hear this.
Since one of you is Polish i would recomend either "40:1" or "Uprising" both live from Woodstock 2013, "The Winged Hussars" from Warzaw 2020, "Inmate 4859" lyric video. All these songs concern polish history. other great song would be "The Unkillable Soldier" this one usually makes people smile, "82nd All the Way", "En Livstid i Krig" live from Gothenburg (is in swedish remember CC, this one also makes me cry) "The nightWithes" animated story version, "Christmas Truce" this one will also make you cry.
So happy you began this journey with Sabaton, you won't regret it.
I enjoy all your reactions!
Love from Italy
You must listen to Christmas Truce. But wait at the end of the credits. A lady singer you like a lot sings in it. Btw She is married to Sabaton's Drumer, Hannes Van Dhal. Her name? FJ 😁
You guys are very likable. =) Fun reaction and i also often shed a tear on this song.
Lovely reaction guys, never apologise for the emotions these songs bring. I'm sure most of the Sabaton fans around the world have shed a tear or two to this one. Another one that always tears me up is En livstid i krig (live in Gothenburg, make sure to turn on captions) Other then that I would recommend Soldier of Heaven, Christmas truce, Bismarck, Winged Hussars, The unkillable soldier (Another unbelieveable story..) and Lady of the Dark.
I cry each time, and that may be the 50th time I watch this video
I've seen this video over 100 times and my eyes still get wet seeing it.
It’s a true story, friends and foes become friends and more like brothers!
Do Christmas Truce next. I think this band will be one of your biggest favorites artists.
I have watched this Sabaton video many times still makes me tear up. God bless you both.
Sabaton lyrics is all about history n facts..
We need more Charlie and Frsnz today!❤
If you need something to cheer you up, try Nanowar of Steel "Valhalleluja" :-)
There are lots of other Sabaton songs that might make you cry due to the story: Christmas Truce ( featuring Floor in the outro!) and the animated story Night Witches (like this video).
Im from Sweden and you need and listen more to Sabaton they are real stories they deliver
Just find you and wish you the best
Don't be sorry for getting emotional. This story is amazing in itself but the fact that we have video of both men at their first meeting makes it even better.
Loved your reaction!!
WoW!!!! One of the most touching and beautiful reactions to Sabaton I have ever seen! Sooo beautiful! Pls Pls Pls make more reactions to this amazing band!
99,9 % of all people you'll ever meet are nice people no matter their nation or background.
We do unfortunately spend a disproportional amount of time thinking about every time someone wronged us.
In short: We deem negative things more important than the positive and a lot of the time we simply take the positives for granted.
EDIT: The family met the band as well: ua-cam.com/video/LSU7HedRVGY/v-deo.html
i have to say, its so nice seeing the love your husband has for you, its in his face and all he does when you break down. Trust me, i cry every time i watch this too.
Sabaton are great and have a lot of videos that are going to get you emotional. They do songs about history of wars and even have a historychannel that explains the background to the songs. The drummer Hannes Van Dahl is Floors husband. One thing you will have in every song is an amazing guitarsolo
Do not be sorry for crying. To see 2 people, both enemies to each other, to show such respect, dignity, honor during wartime, it's almost unheard of. That is a bond those 2 gentlemen shared that goes beyond brotherhood. Being exmilitary myself, I cried the first time I heard this song as well. Crying is not a negative thing, especially in this circumstance. It's a happy thing for sure.
Everytime I watch a reaction to this song it makes me so happy how honor and mercy touches people so deeply. There is hope for humanity as long as people understand and feel how important and powerful these virtues and values are. Thank you for your tears, Domenica.
Yes, it’s a true story…. As you have started with Sabaton, you could go for: Christmas Truce (there you will have a very familiar person….. Floor….) - maybe you know the connection between Sabaton & Nightwish 👍🏆‼️
Interesting choice to get introduced to Sabaton. You should react to "Sabaton - Bismarck" next.
Thanks, i cry every time
Y'all are adorable. Its completely normal to end up in tears after a sabaton song, we all do it. Were all human. We need to remember that. Doesnt matter where we live or what our beliefs are, we're all human, we all live on this earth, together. Life is precious. New subscriber here.
I know my comment is very late but I have to say this. There is *nothing* wrong with crying because music made you emotional. It's not silly in any way shape or form. Especially when it comes to Sabaton, some of their songs touch on very emotional subjects and it's widely accepted amongst the fan base that tears are just inevitable. I've been a Sabaton fan for almost 20 years and this song *still* makes me emotional. And that's the beauty of Sabaton.
Some of their songs will empower you and make you believe that you can accomplish anything, some will make you question everything you know and some will make you break down into tears and thinking that maybe there is still some shred of humanity left on earth.
Welcome to the roller coaster of a life time that is Sabaton.
I'm from metal-land (Finland (my favorite Finnish metal-band is ensiferum))) greetings!! When others want me to say somethong good of our neighbour, i always say SABATON!
Dear lady, there is no shame in your tears for this! I am a sixty year old Englishman, with all the stoicism that implies, and this story never fails to get me.
And, as an aside, I have to say you both seem like really nice people :)
The song and the end video show that even in war, there are still some that show a streak of humanity.
As a combat veteran myself. Something I learned. You lose to many friends. See so much death. The hardest thing to keep alive in combat is your humanity.
Check out Sabaton History channel if you want more information about subject and behind the scenes.
Yes. I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I can tell you that months of fear, fire fights at night with tracers twisting through the night sky and you hoping they won't land on your position, mortars and rockets exploding around, the enemy becomes the obstacle to you coming home and it becomes very difficult to exercise your humanity. But it does happen. I remember one of our " docs" (medics) trying desperately to keep a badly wounded NVA soldier alive after a fire fight. The NVA soldier did die, and I and others were distraught. He was so young.
dont feel bad for tearing up, it is a powerfull story indeed
I recommend their songs:Bismarck,Steel commanders, christmas truce, unkillable soldier....i mean every song from them is awesome but i recommend these ones first
Sorry I had to laugh at the end when a lovely Polish lady said "Crikey".... You've been talking with Australians or English people obviously... and BTW... I cry everytime I see that meeting. Don't be ashamed.
By far, my favorite Sabaton song, and the one I can most relate to.
I live near Bremen (the place they bombed) and Oldenburg (where they almost crashed),
and one of my Opas (Grandpa) was a AA-guner at the Atlantikwall, in the Netherlands.
I wonder if he saw a BF-109 escorting a B-17?
Great reaction.
I have to check if Mrs. Theren-Stigler is in the comments.
You two are so sweet and nice to each other, that's what a good relationship/marriage must look like ^^
