All the songs Sabaton sings are based on real historical events throughout the centuries. Then Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band. In 2024, Sabaton celebrates 25 years and has always sung about military stories.
Then you didn't hear the whole song, because it continued with the aftertext and the singer is Floor Jeansen.

    Merry Christmas, ladies.
First, yes, this is a true story. The cross in the video still stands 109 years later outside of the town of Ypres, Belgium.
What you don't know is that after Command on both sides found out about the Truce, they forbid another truce the following year. Despite this, a limited truce was still done in a few places across the lines.
Additionally, after the Truce, a German commander had to move his men to another section of the line, as his men refused to fire on the men they had celebrated Christmas with.
Lastly, a comment from a gentleman has always stuck with me: That if not for the Christmas Truce of 1914, he would not exist in 2023. Why? Because his grandfathers met each other that day in No-Man's-Land. After the war, they became good friends, and their families married into each other.
As it is with the Gospel of Luke, "Peace on Earth and goodwill towards men," so, too, should we never forget that the light of hope can still shine through, if we only let it -- even in a place as dark and as hellish as a warzone, buffeted by the winds of conflict and warfare. For if these men could put aside their differences, so, too, can we all.
    Lest We Forget.

@thedisabledwelshman9266 The fact that it was included at all is not an accident. Artists choose what to add to official videos, both before and after, with a purpose. You only want the song than just watch the lyric video or just listen to the song without images. I bet you are either the type to leave/stop a movie half way through. Ending early or skipping parts is disrespectful to the artist and any fans that stumble upon a reaction. Shame on you.

Most predictable comment of 2023 - the battlecry of Nightwish fan girls everywhere: "Waaahhh! You cut out the ending with Floor singing!"
Who cares? Nobody sits through the end credits after a movie, so just because Floor sings during this particular outro, it doesn't make it an expected behavior for a reactor to sit through.
Getting so tired of the crybaby comments about Floor; her voice is kind of annoying at this point.

An important thing to note about the Christmas Truce is that it was 100% done by the troops in the trenches. The high command on both sides didnt authorize it and they were actually mad about the soldiers getting along so they made sure it wouldn't happen again which is why it only happened once in 1914 and no years after.
**Also hope you read this part**
In the description of Sabaton's videos there's text at the bottom of each description saying what each song is based on.

Commanders on both sides went to extreme lengths to ensure it would never happen again. They were terrified of their own men turning against them and realizing they were fighting one of the most pointless but bloodiest wars in our history. Some of the measures they took were decidedly brutal too.

Hi from France 🙂 And Merry Christmas 🎄
SABATON is a swedish band, it explains the accent 😉
This song comes from a true story. The day after Christmas both sides refused to start fighting again, the hierarchy of both sides changed all the soldiers. Many of the soldiers were punished, I have read some have been shot for treason because they refused to keep fighting.
The same story is used in a french movie released in 2005, in french "Joyeux Noël" directed by Christian CARION with Diane KRUGER, Guillaume CANET, Daniel BRUHL, Dany BOON, ....
    All the best from France,

The most famous soccer game in history.
It happened on December 24th,1914. eople forget that it wasnt just German and English soldiers that day. French soldiers were there too. The truce lasted for two days and when they were discovered playing soccer they were punished for fraternizing. Some ran away, not wanting to fight after so many years. Some were relocated and the rest were shot on the spot for refusing to fight against those they had shared Christmas with.

WW1. Christmas truce. The only reason the fire on opposing lines began again, was because of artillery fire, ordered by the Leaders. They did not like the peace. They wanted the war to continue. The female voice at the end is the singer of Nightwish, Floor Jensen. Wife to Hannes Van Dahl, the drummer for Sabaton. I would love to see you react to Nightwish as well, especially Ghost, Love Score.

The lead singer, Joakim, and indeed the entire band are Swedish from the city (bit of a generous word perhaps - more of a town) of Falun in the southwest-ish part of Sweden.
All of their military history/history related songs - which are very nearly all of them - are based on true events that actually happened.
This is really their thing - they tell stories of bravery of individuals, countries, armed forces etc in order to spread the knowledge of them "lest we forget" so to speak.
Great reaction as always and Merry Christ & a Happy New Year ladies :)
Seasonal Greetings from the Northeastern coast of Sweden!
Edit: Oh, by the way, if you ever wish to know more about the events told about in a certain song you should visit their "Sabaton History"-channel where they go more in-depth about the background of each individual song.

This event is in my opinion the single most important event in WW1 and it needs to be talked about more often. It highlights the realities of war and how both sides had no hate for the other side. They were just soldiers stuck in a dirty war no one wanted to be in. It just emphasizes how the only winners in war are the ones who aren't taking part in it.

Yes, based on true events in WW I. Glad you chose this video. It was made by people that usually make movies. Moviemaking also stopped when the world shut down, so they had time to do this. The piano melody at the beginning is a variation f "Carol of the Bells". Lead singer , Joakim Broden, has said this song is actually a waltz. Regarding his 'accent', he's from Sweden, and he will also roll his "R"s to help with pronouncing English. Bassist Par Sundstrom is the guy at the cross at the end. Drummer Hannes van Dahl is the first soldier out of the trenches. Guitarist Chris Rorland is the first one out on the other side. Guitarist Tommy Johansson had the battlefield solo.
End credit vocals by Floor Jansen , wife of drummer Hannes. 🎶🎶 Please go back and listen to them, they are beautiful. She is lead singer in another band called Nightwish. Suggest checking out that band, try 'Ghost Love Score" live from Wacken festival 2013.

To clarify a few things, every one of Sabatons songs is about history, from the 1500s like the Swedish Royal Guard or Knights to the creation of the tank during WW1, to the Battleship Bismarck all the way up to Operation Desert Storm in 1990. For future reactions I recommend 1916 (a motorhead cover), Steel Commanders, Bismarck, Dreadnought and The Royal Guard. Just imagine the man who you considered an enemy, played football with you, gave you gifts, sang and danced together, talked with you about their families or other stuff they love. Image after all of that you have to look him in the eye and go back trying to kill that same man who you now maybe consider a friend or maybe even a brother. Killing the man who gave you a picture of his wife, who you promised he would get home safe to. I can’t even imagine what these men have felt during that moment.

Christmas truce of 1914. In the week leading up to 25 December, French, German and British soldiers crossed trenches to exchange seasonal greetings and talk. In some areas, men from both sides ventured into no man's land on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to mingle and exchange food and souvenirs. There were joint burial ceremonies and prisoner swaps, while several meetings ended in caroling. Men played games of football (Soccer) with one another, creating one of the most memorable images of the truce. Hostilities continued in some sectors, while in others the sides settled on little more than arrangements to recover bodies.

The year is 1914. It's Christmas Eve, World War One is at a stalemate. Everyone thought it would have all been over by now. Across the gulf of No Mans Land, comes the sound of the German Army signing Silent Night in their native language. The British Troops on the other side hear them and sing along, but in English. At one point a German soldier, climbs out of the trench with his arms raised and walks towards the British Trench. The gesture is seen and the British respond. The two sides met in no mans land, greeted each other and exchanged gifts. The football match (soccer) you saw being played did actually take place. It was a 2-1 Win for Germany. All of Sabaton's songs are about real military events. They take no side and portray the story of these events through their music. They are a Swedish Power metal band. Joakim Broden is the lead singer, and most definitely not Scottish. :-) You should always let the videos from Sabaton play out, you missed a beautiful end segment. And if you want to do another Sabaton song, then i highly recommend 1916, a cover of the original by Motorhead. Or perhaps Bismarck. And Yes, I am a huge Sabaton fan.

True story. There were informal truces all along the front that Christmas. There was also an informal Christmas Truce during the American Civil War. Both sides, the North and South, put down their arms, played baseball, and exchanged gifts.
When Lulu goes back to school, she is going to have a new smile on her face & sparkle in her eye. Sweedish Metal has that effect.
Next should be Finnish Symphonic Metal. 😊

Yes ,Sabaton tells true military history events in their songs. Defence of Moscow is great one. And they have songs about Finnish winter war(Talvisota) and everything between. They take no sides on who's the hero and who isn't. Unkilleable soldier has very good music video too.

Just a fun fact, Floor Jansen from Nightwish is the person singing the vocals at the end credits. She is married to Hannes who is the drummer in Sabaton. But yeah everything Sabaton sings is as historical correct as we can get it. And they also sing about all sides of all wars. All were heroes in their own way and should be remembered as such instead of the bad politics but im off topic. Sabaton is great, you should realy try some Five finger death punch, wrong side of heaven is a very emotional start

Sadly, we don't hear of The Christmas Truce very often in the United States, as the event, itself, took place before the United States had even entered World War 1. To this day, I cannot IMAGINE either the vacuum of silence, how quiet it would have been, that happened when the guns and artillery stopped firing for a day, or the sheer COURAGE it would have taken to be the first person to step out into no-mans-land holding their hat to negotiate a temporary ceasefire.
Your reactions are wonderful to see, ladies; keep it up! For additional context, as others have suggested, Sabaton also has a history channel on UA-cam (appropriately named Sabaton History) that speaks in detail of the history of an event, and what went into the creation of the song it inspired. Personally, I would recommend you watch the History channel AFTER you see the music video, and not before.

Hello ladies ! I just discovered your channel. a little background : Sabaton is a Swedish Powermetal band. Almost al their songs are about history going from Swedish history to the 2 world wars and even a song about the demise of the Samurai in japan (Shiroyama). Personally i recommend to check out "Lady of the dark' which is about a Serbian girl taking her brother's place in the Serbian army in WW2.
Also i would like to recommend you check out Jinjer. They are a ukrainian band, and their sond Pisces will blow you away.
    Merry Christmas !

Happy holidays and always play a Sabaton video till the end so you don't miss anything, in this case the drummer's wife Floor Jansen (lead vocalist for Nightwish) singing the credit part which is just stunningly amazing. You can make up for that by doing Floor Jansen singing Holy Night in Finnish while 6 months pregnant at a Christmas Metal show, ua-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/v-deo.html. Next you can also do 1916 for another truly heart breaking song from this great group of history teachers. BTW great reaction and YES all of their songs are based on historical events which you can learn on their history channel where they tell how the song was done and the event in depth.

This is the most famous true event that happened between Christmas eve and Boxing day ( 24th and 26th of December) 1914 between British Troops and the German Troops. The county that I come from here in England had two Regiment's in the British Army during WW1, The Hertfordshire Regiment and The Hertfordshire Yeomanry Regiment ( Hertfordshire is pronounced Hartfordshire) The 2nd Battalion of the Hertfordshire Regiment was involved with the Christmas Truce in No Man's Land with the German Troops. The Actual Football came from The London Irish Regiment, the Football still exists and it is on Display in the Regiment's Museum at there Barracks in London. All Sabaton songs are from True Events in History and also Actual people that lived throughout history. BRITISH SABATON FAN 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🤝🤝🇸🇪🇸🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦

Sabaton is a Swedish metal/Powermetal band that writes songs about historical events and individuals. The focus is bravery and sacrifice. All stuff is based in truth and there is a second channel called Sabaton history where you can learn more. The only things that is not full based in history are a few older tracks like Metal machine but that track is about the love of rock and metal.

Henry Williamson, a nineteen-year-old private in the London Rifle Brigade, wrote to his mother on Boxing Day:
Dear Mother, I am writing from the trenches. It is 11 o'clock in the morning. Beside me is a coke fire, opposite me a 'dug-out' (wet) with straw in it. The ground is sloppy in the actual trench, but frozen elsewhere. In my mouth is a pipe presented by the Princess Mary. In the pipe is tobacco. Of course, you say. But wait. In the pipe is German tobacco. Haha, you say, from a prisoner or found in a captured trench. Oh dear, no! From a German soldier. Yes a live German soldier from his own trench. Yesterday the British & Germans met & shook hands in the Ground between the trenches, & exchanged souvenirs, & shook hands. Yes, all day Xmas day, & as I write. Marvellous, isn't it?

Thank you for watching and reacting to Sabaton’s Christmas Truce. Merry Christmas to you and all. The one music video that introduced me to Sabaton was the official music video of Sabaton called, “Bismarck.” I am a big history buff and I like learning about naval warfare, and learning about different ships that were used in WWII. Sabaton has a video about the history of Battleship Bismarck and how he was defeated. One is Battleship Bismarck, the largest battleship in the world and in WWII. But did you know that there were 4 largest battleships in WWII history. Two were from Germany, Battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz. The Japanese of the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) had Musashi and Yamato. But guess what the Japanese Musashi and Yamato Battleships were larger than Germany’s Battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz. If you look it up Bismarck and Tirpitz were over 50,000 tons when fully loaded, but the Japanese Musashi and Yamato, when fully loaded they were over 72,000 tons, the 2 largest Battleships in the pacific, also with the largest 18.1 inch Naval Guns in WWII. The US was about to create their own battleships that can withstand and over power Battleship Yamato. But the war ended and the US Montana Class Battleships (USS Montana) weren’t not built. I’m sorry I was off topic but people think that Battleship Bismarck was the only Large Battleship that was ever built, but that is wrong so I just like to give a little history about these Battleships. Sabaton’s Bismarck is a fantastic piece about the Germany’s Battleship Bismarck and how the British was able to sink the mighty Battleship. Please watch and react. Merry Christmas again and thank you.
