Hi steve and Alison welcome to canberra, its our home and we love it, but just a reminder to everyone that there is more to Canberra then politics and thanks for showing that. Love watching you.
Hi Lyn thank you, yes we’ve definitely been out and about. I lived in Canberra in the early 90s I can’t believe how much it’s changed but still a beautiful city
Hi Steve and Ally, thanks for showing us around Canberra and Cowra.I found the history behind the Cowra breakout really interesting and sad at the same time.I visited Canberra on a school trip many years ago and toured the old Parliament House long before the new Parliament building was built. It may be time to visit Canberra again I think.Safe travels as always.👍
Hi Phillip thanks for watching mate. Yes Canberra was beautiful I lived there about 30 odd years ago and it’s a very different place but we still really enjoyed it. We didn’t have a great deal of time in Cowra but it’s definitely a place we’d like to revisit as there was so much to see
Hi Colleen yes it was a very tragic story particularly what happened with his family. We tried to research any government follow up but couldn’t find anything. Thank you for watching
Yes I remember learning at school it was an internment camp where Japanese/ Italian citizens were held during the war before it became a POW camp as well, could you imagine what would happen if they done that today. Thank you for watching
Hi Steve, Alison “The House of Lords in the United Kingdom is red and the House of Commons is green due to a centuries-old tradition: Red The color of the House of Lords represents nobility, as the House was originally made up of nobles. Red is also considered a more royal and expensive color. Green The color of the House of Commons represents the common people, who are said to meet on grass. Green is also considered a more common and layman's color. The colors are used throughout the chambers, including the benches, carpet, and stationery. The Australian House of Representatives is also green, following the tradition of the British House of Commons. The shades of green used in the Australian House of Representatives represent the grey-green tones of native eucalypts. “
Hi Peter thank you that’s very informative and makes a lot of sense in regard to following the British tradition. I did read at ParliamentHouse that the Australian House of Representatives was a eucalyptus shade of green. Thank you for watching mate
Hi Simon I agree mate the caravan park down the road was asking $76 a night and the exhibition grounds wanted $45. We decided upon Canberra Park because they offered pay for 6 and stay for 7 nights. It seems to be a sign of the times we see so many van parks asking for $80+ per night it ridiculous. Thanks for watching mate
Hi Steve & Alison it was great to meet you this morning at "The Rock" you have a great channel keep up the great work. Safe travels.
Hi Ash nice to meet you too mate. What a beautiful little town

Tragic stories good that at least they are told but the government should have acknowledged him as you said

Most of the Japanese prisoners were living and working in Australia. They were rounded up for the duration of the war.

Hi John we are making our way towards the Murray River for Christmas
$50+ is outrageous - I have checked it out before and consider a ripoff.
