Wow this tore a memory from my brain from 30 years ago I didn't know I kept up there??? This was the game that would sit alone in the corner of some weird new laundromat across town your mom would go too for a while. This was an bizarre and obscure game for sure. Hippodrome??? Ha! At twelve years old I must not have been able to make out that gem of a title through that weirdo font to have a chuckle. Thanks for blowing my mind with the upload!
I played this game once in the early 90s. I remembered everything vividly about it except for the name, which I only remembered ten years ago. Once I had the name, I tracked down an arcade machine of it, which I still have. Definitely a forgotten gem of its time. Oh, a Hippodrome machine also appears a few times in the arcade scene of Robocop 2.
I am sensing pre Mortal Kombat vibes here. You fight A Scorpion man who can freeze you (Scorpion & Sub Zero), A Dragon (Goro), Lizard man (Reptile) and A Wizard (Shang Tsung). The final hit is a fatality. Maybe Data East should have developed this fighter a little more.
That is unfortunate, how boring we've got plenty of those and only one of these : ( One character this game should've had was a skeleton. That would've been really cool and fit in more with the monster vibe. Another cool one could've been some kind of fishman/merman, like those you see early in 1st Castlevania that shoot intense water beams at you, enough to knock you back. Or perhaps something closer to the Creature of The Black Lagoon would've been cool, either of those. Of Castlevania's fishmen might've been inspired by that.
I LOVEDDDDDDDDD THIS GAME BACK IN THE DAY.... and been looking for it for YEARSSSSSS and the Saying " ACID RAIN" Came to my head and i Googled Acid Rain power in 80s arcade game and this came up.
Ah man so much of this has to be inspired by Fist of the North Star. The main character looks like a combination of Raoh and Souther. The assassin enemies are the Shura. And that huge viking final boss is Uighur.
It's almost like Data East took a side scrolling action game and transferred that gameplay into a fighting game. Character sprites look great but the fighting needed work.

I cannot believe I actually fed this machine quarters back in the day...😂 👍🙏

Can we agree the protagonist looks like a Fist Of The North Star character.
And the assassin enemies look exactly like Shura enemies from Fist of the North Star.
Don't forget about the giant, who looks like Uighur.
"Winners don´t use drugs" The 90´s
This was during the horrors of the crack era
Can you blame them for telling kids to save their souls?
I loved this game as a kid. I got to the Giant but couldn’t beat him... ran out of quarters.
First played this on holiday in malta about 25 years ago. Only just finished it a few months ago via name. Still remembered most of the enemy patterns
WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS?!!!
I PLAYED THIS GAME HIGH AS A KITE!!!!!
The sound effects are 👌
5:29 the rock traveled to the past in the shape of scorpion king!!
And when enemies are defeated, they aren't dead, they are DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@4:05 I'm pretty sure Ozzy has fever dreams like this.
I would love having a remake of this game in PS5 graphics

Que buenos sonidos y música, tomando en cuenta la época

unfortunately the sequel was a wrestling game

Que tiempos.
Ahhh!
Oh. Ooo. Iyaaa. Raaat. Raaah. Ooh. Aaaaa.
always loved this game despite being stupidly difficult
Indeed XD
There was a sequel to this game in 1992 which dealt with fighting more so than this.
Player 2 actually looked more badass than player 1.
Ooh!
El jugador Se parece a fighter michael del mutant fighter.nunca pense ke seria hercules la final antes que el archimago excelente
delicious

lmao this whole "fbi discouraging drug use" thing made this game feel even more dated. The graphics remind me of ActRaiser for some reason.
