edit 5/11 - you may notice if you have keen lil eyes that around 42:18 there is a blur on the map - this is because i have been informed that the map showed crimea as part of russia, when crimea was annexed by russia and is in fact part of ukraine. i can't replace the map post-upload but i was able to add a blur so as not to further spread incorrect information! the annexation is condemned by most countries including the UK as a violation of international law. so... whoopsies. sorry. got the image off stardew valley wiki. will hopefully notice something like this next time
At the start of the video, you look just a bit washed out to me, like there’s a very bright light on you (which may be true, idk 🤷♀️). It’s not overly detrimental to the video or anything, just an observation. Everything takes tweaking though, and I’m sure you’ll be situated in your new setup in no time!
As an autistic person who relates to and projects onto Harvey A LOT!! I like to headcanon that, like me, clothes are a sensory nightmare for him. So an excuse to wear as little of them as possible is great!! XD I love my autistic rotisserie chickin husband
I just ADORE how hard his bio and that diary entry throw shade at him. "He is a little old for a bachelor", "There are few older bachelors. All of them kinda suck! First of all, Harvey is a pussy" Like can he live? He is beeing publicly shamed for beeing unmarried in his 30s by the fabric of the universe itself.
Real life: Thirties is becoming the most common age to marry Stardew Valley: Harvey = Spinster. To be fair, my purple haired lady farmer married Harvet because he has a good job. Nearly every other person on town is a power imbalance relationship for my million dollar farm girl.
comment again to say i actually disagree with the sad interpretation of his fascination with the radio. i interpreted it as he has accepted that a dream isn’t possible, but he has found a way to connect with his passion that is within his ability.
Yes! I interpret it as him being realistic. Like I’d love to have a big garden to take care of, but for ages I didn’t have any garden at all so I had pot plants and grew some herbs. I didn’t cry every time I watered my plants because I was daydreaming about a garden, I was genuinely just happy to have something!!!
Absolutely! I always saw it as very charming, a way to engage with his passion and dreams from the ground, I always loved seeing the way that the reality of him never being able to be a pilot doesn't mean giving up on it, instead finding realistic ways to engage with it, as you said, within his ability.
His blushing portrait is very cute, it might be one of my favorite things about him. I'm just a sucker for guy characters that get so flustered like that when they have a crush.
i loved harvey! his romance path feels very "two adults coyly flirting" to me and i love it. him being a buzzkill was always interpreted by me as him caring about the player. he's always just seemed like a very anxious very caring loner who keeps to himself.
My first thought to that hc was that there is a war going on, though it he did serve as an army/field doctor/surgeon it would probably have been mentioned. Cool hc! Think ill incorporate it into my own head!
Yeah I have also been thinking something along those lines. Especially his "patients life in my hands and failing" line led me to believe that he kind of "fled" whatever high stress job he had before to be a general doctor in a small (former mining) town. Kind of makes him like the player like that, at least in my mind
Okay I love Harvey, and I hate that everyone thinks he’s boring. I feel like it makes sense. He’s the only doctor and likely doesn’t want to cross boundaries but as soon as you start dating him he’s really sweet. He’s just a little lonely.
At four hearts he says something along the lines of wanting to get past the doctors patient relationship with the farmer which either confirms your approach or can be read kinda creepy
THIS!!! He's the town's ONLY DOCTOR. He has to maintain a strictly professional relationship with everyone in town. Of course he's a little stiff when you first meet him. But he's so so sweet once he realizes that you actually care about him as a person. People saying him wanting to move past Dr. and patient relationship with you at 4 hearts is creepy, please remember that 5 hearts is CLOSE friendship. 4 hearts is all it takes for someone to agree to dance with you at the flower dance. He's not being creepy, you as the farmer have shown OBVIOUS interest in him as a person as opposed to just seeing him as "Dr. Harvey"
@@onemoreweirdo207he’s not boring. He’s predictable and loyal. The perfect man for someone who has had bad relationships. He reminds me of my fiancé. He’s an introverted IT guy who loves to be at home. Same breakfast every day y’know that kinda stuff. He won’t take me on a spontaneous trip or ever do something wild - and I love him for it. Yes sometimes it’s a bit boring but I know he’s loyal to me and will support me no matter what. I’m the opposite so we balance each-other out. I feel like Harvey is the same kind of man.
I interpret his 6 heart event as him feeling the crush beginning on the player and feeling self conscious of it. He didn't want anyone to know, especially you. I think he wanted to get into shape to impress you because he wasn't sure what else to do. He even approached the ladies to join their class in secret. I always kinda saw him as more mother hen type so he would get along with the wives better. Pure headcannon part of me thinks they gossip about their husbands and they can tell Harvey has a crush on someone so they want to help him as friends do.
thank you for mentioning th treatment of george. strangers always try to push my wheelchair without asking and i refuse to chose the dialogue telling penny she did a nice thing even though there’s a penalty for it 😂
I didn’t even realize there’s a penalty for it in Penny’s cutscene. I just automatically refuse to settle for enabling someone to take away from another person’s physical autonomy. When we later help George with a book and he tells us what happened to him, I like to hope that there’s a nonverbal implication that we asked if we could help first (since otherwise we wouldn’t know which book he wanted either). Admittedly I do end up choosing to agree with Harvey in the 2 heart scene, but that’s more because it always seemed to me more emphasizing it as a suggestion with good intention rather than forcing George to do anything (but I also didn’t ever choose the opposite choice to know he threatens to inform Evelyn, which is it’s own flavor of yikes even if it can be interpreted as an empty threat). It’s definitely some interesting food for thought, and something I’ll keep in mind next time I start a new play through.
I've never been in a wheelchair, but it still looked super rude to me. I can't side with Penny in that scene either, even though she's just trying to help. George always comes around and thanks her no matter which choice you make anyway.
I love that our guy Harvey found a fulfilling part time job doing Beach. Interestingly, his moustache is also missing in the beach sprite, possibly implying that he is a professional doctor who wears a fake moustache to work
Harvey is Kenough 🥺 now I'm imagining ConcernedApe designing the speedo sprite and making several attempts at drawing a tiny moustache on it only to give up
THAT'S MY HUSBAND! i love him, his arc, his way of living and the fact that he's not as shallow as he seems. he's imo one of the best and you can't change my mind
Fun Fact with USA Healthcare, some places are so rural that Family Medicine doctors will perform some basic types of surgery on patients if they're too far away from a major hospital.
To me, the radio thing is more him living vicariously through the actual pilots, not self-flagellation. For one reason or another he can’t live out his dreams but he still wants to feel like he doesn’t so through the radio he can pretend he is one of the boys.
Regarding Harvey doing surgery: due to having less resources around, rural doctors do so much more than straight up GPs in more urban areas because they simply can't afford (time, money, manpower) to get super compartmentalized with their care. There will be things that are totally out of their scope of knowledge that they have to outsource, but for the most part, they're going to have way more tools on their belt. Now, I don't know how much CA knows about this, and 'surgery' is super vague. Yes, GPs are not surgeons, but they are actually qualified to do simple surgeries such as putting birth control implants in your arm and other similar procedures. They're not going to, say, do your liver transplant, but 'surgery' is a big umbrella term.
*medical TMI* When I got my arm implant I was relieved when I realized how simple of a procedure it actually seems. The stick basically comes preloaded in a big ol needle so there's no cutting open or anything. They had me look away but I kind of wish I watched it go in now, I just thought it was kinda cool
I have heard that if a place is really really rural, the Doctor might also double as a Veterinarian? I'm not sure if that's a tall tale or anything but this made me think of that.
I recently married Harvey (again), and sometime during the wedding day, I met Maru. She said something like this: "you look plenty healthy to be at the clinic all the time. Now I know why". Something like that. For me, I interpret that line as you've been dating Harvey in secret. No one in the town knows about you two. And Maru only found out ON THE WEDDING DAY!
It really sounds like Maru is teasing you by implying obliquely she knows all about the supposed hanky panky that's been going on in the clinic back room.
Paused the vid just to say I totally agree with you about the sunblock thing just being Harvey’s way of showing doctorly concern for someone he works with. Maru is the closest thing Harvey has to a friend, it makes sense that if everyone’s health is important to him, he’d want her to be protected from the sun too, especially at the Luau where everyone is going to be in the sun for potentially hours. Folks are way too eager to think, “oh this guy is showing concern for someone, he must have a crush on them”. Perfect example being my friend who thinks any dude that is nice to her MUST BE CRUSHING ON HER SO HARD, even if ya know… it’s their job…. Because she’s in a store they work in… it’s kinda their job to be nice 😅
Also I have a ginger and white cat that looks just like yours! Twinsies across the world! 🤣 his Christian name is Poppy (this was before I knew I he was a boy) but we all call him Mr. Mittens, Mitmit for short
In general I do think it's his way of showing that he cares, but caring doesn't have to mean romantic. Kind of like a love language, which can be shared between friends, family, and partners. Like even if you're not dating him, he tells you healthy ways to go about your life. He's trying to be a kind person and it's his way of expressing that in my eyes at least. He also mentions being super into his own work meaning he sees a lot of life through that lens. At least personally I know how that feels as a game dev so I guess I can see it in a way that he's using his special interest as a way to connect with other people.
Harvey also seems like the kind of person who would hem and haw and get his courage up to ask his coworker to dance just because he's shy about dancing and because he likes her (friendly not romantic) but is worried about professional boundaries re pushing social interaction on an employee.
"I think I'm allergic to this" is British for "I would rather not touch this, but I also don't want to hurt your feelings as it's clear that you've put some modicum of effort into this with the intent to for me to enjoy it."
I always thought he's hyper aware of all the germs and potential toxins and sharp pointy bits of your beach finds. He's a nerd and devoted to his career and I think for his workdays when he's not busy, he definitely spends some time studying and developing his craft by reading case reports whose titles could be Man Ate Gifted Seafood, This Is What Happened To His Spine.
As a nurse, my take on the 2 heart event is that George *is* capable of making his own decisions, but doctors (and nurses) are required to do their best to take care of people, which causes conflict to occur pretty often. Getting a spouse in is usually considered as acceptable if they're one of the caretakers of the person, like Evelyn is to George, since they're so closely involved in everything medical and have more personal sway on the person, especially in the case that the spouse/sibling/child/friend has power of attorney or is designated as the person to enact the patients will in case of emergencies/situations where the patient cannot make the decision for themselves. That can be through lack of conciousness, dementia, or even temporary inhibitions like post surgery delirium. It's also a difficult balancing act, having to take care of people that cannot take care of themselves, since you have a moral (and often legal) obligation to do everything in your power to keep that person alive and well, unless they have issued a DNR order of themselves.
I agree with this! It's not taking away George's autonomy or disrespecting his wishes to do your due diligence in trying to keep him healthy as long as possible. Encouraging him to make a healthy decision when he asks for your opinion also isn't taking away his autonomy -- it's trying to set him up for success, since even if he'd rather carry on the way he is until his time on earth is done, that has the capacity to make it much more unpleasant and stressful on everyone involved, including Evelyn as his primary caretaker (as we see that she's often accompanying him to appointments; I say this as a wheelchair user who needs familial assistance myself, who is grateful for the advice of doctors to do things I didn't particularly feel like doing!). After you both leave, he's more than welcome to continue eating entire packs of bacon if he so pleases, though I doubt he'd be the one cooking them. Undermining doctor's orders in favour of "do what you want" just felt irresponsible, and unlike Penny's 2 heart scene, it felt like a more direct reflection of the anxiety of taking care of an elderly relative who doesn't want to take care of themselves. We dont always know what's best for our own bodies, and Harvey knows that can have fatal consequences -- and would prefer not to see his patient suffer, nor his wife and grandson who still want him around for as long as possible. Apparently I had feelings about this lol! Great video, this sort of thing is just fun to discuss!
@@Feyrae Yeah, I am always 100% for informed consent, especially when it comes to bigger decisions that have to be made and I absolutely hate it when people, especially elderly people, get pushed into doing massive surgeries by their doctors or families, even if they themselves don't see the point anymore (I'm thinking 90+ year olds getting full on crack-that-chest-open major heart surgery). But stuff like adjusting one's diet, taking meds regularly on schedule, getting in a bit of light exercise, that's stuff I encourage my own grandmas and father to do, not just my patients. I also agree that it's a lot more to do with anxiety, Harvey's in this case, and tbh a bit of my own, that you'd feel like utter shite if you did not do your best, give your best advice, be a bit more encouraging, make sure the patient knows and understands all the consequences of inaction. Cause if they die because of something preventable, it'd definitely be something that'd haunt me for the rest of my days, I know that. Now what is preventable and what can and should be prevented, by us as humans and the whole god complex thing many doctors (and from my limited experience, heart surgeons especially) have is a whole other can of worms to open with ethics and morality and whats the line between prolonging life and prolonging suffering, etc, but that might need a more nuanced and easier to interact in forum than the youtube comments 🤣
@@phelanii4444 Yes, totally! I feel strongly about patient autonomy, but something like "grandma, please stop smoking so much", or "grandpa, you suffer from heart issues, let's cut back from red meat EVERY day" is a very ordinary ask for a loved one (and then it's ultimately up to the person themselves to implement those ideas or not; George did actively solicit your opinion, after all!). I'm actually the primary cook for my family, so I'm able to reduce sodium/increase veg and fibre for my parents myself, so I totally get it. And yes hahahah that whole can of worms isn't to be discussed here (esp considering a really unkind comment I got that I think our lovely video maker took down already; thank you for that!), but I think it's easy to agree that we want the elderly folks we love to take care of themselves enough to remain in good shape for as long as it works for them. :) In this case, George is generally a spirited man in control of his faculties who has many years ahead of him to spend with his loving family, so it makes sense to want the best for him! And being that it's a video game, dude's gonna live forever!
Harvey's got a book on DIY surgery in his room so I don't know how qualified he is in that regard. I love that on Ginger Island Harvey is not only in a speedo but also is absolutely covered in sunscreen which makes him look like buttered chicken. I think the reason Shane wears a shirt is because he's self-conscious about his weight. He mentions it a couple times in his dialogue.
Ive always interpreted the quote “imagine a patients life in your hands that you fail to keep alive” as what is attributed to his sadness in his description, because its something the haunts him now and he relives that feeling often
I mentioned something like this on Haley's video, but in defense of beach Harvey I feel like this is him being confident like you said. By the time you unlock Ginger Island, on a causal play, you as the farmer would have been in Pelican Town for a long time. You would have had a profound effect on many of the towns people. Harvey in Speedos is thanks to you.
I have ended up choosing Harvey a handful of times in my Stardew shenanigans - once because if you’re trying to speed run marriage, showing up at his doorstep every morning with coffee does the trick haha. But several times just because as someone in their late 20s, some of the other candidates feels like it’s almost like robbing the cradle in a way 😅 whereas Harvey is fairly chill, slightly anxious bestie vibes. I’ve ended up pursuing Elliot in my 1.6 run, but I still end up chatting with Harvey and giving him coffee as I beeline from the job board to the mines of a morning.
i tried giving him coffee bc i heard it’s on his Love List, but the second time i offered it it checked the box for a gift but he didn’t TAKE IT “don’t you think that’s unhealthy?” BROKE MY HEART
@@theatrenerd7441 To be fair, Emily won that poll and she does give me older vibes as well! So all's well that ends well. But if Sandy were to become a bachelorette in the future, that'd be pretty neat. Though I doubt it.
You can’t force a person to eat less sodium. Harvey was doing his due diligence. It’s his job. It’s still up to George whether he holds to that or not. You can agree or disagree with Harvey and that is naturally going to affect his opinion
Just started a new playthrough for 1.6 and I married him again in honor of my first playthrough. . He's literally the perfect househusband, my mind won't be changed 😌. . . But I'm never gonna forgive him for charging me, his wife, for passing out in the mines while I'm trying to make us rich 😑
hahaha frfr i forgot to mention that in the video somehow but i think it's a balance thing, if marrying harvey took away all the consequences for passing out then people would marry him for that reason instead of bc he's the perfect malewife 🩷
My brother is a doctor and his wife works for him. He pays her taxes, I don't know if he would charge her, she has never needed his specialty, but taxes and write offs might come into play here.🤷🏻♀️ You probably give him gifts worth more than ≈ 1000g
@@lilly_koii You're so right. . Honestly, he deserves the world, no doctor should have to perform emergency surgery on they're own spouse 🥲. . At this point he should be begging Marlon to put a gate at the mines with the amount of times I've pushed my luck lmao 🤣
1:10:05 About the neutral and low hearts dialogues during marriage: I saw that the absence of those dialogues isn't because Harvey can't feel frustrated about the marriage, but because the wiki has lacking information. I found that like a missed opportunity to see how is Harvey in a vulnerable space, learning more from his character. I decided to make a quick research for my own and sacrificed an old game save where I was married to him to see how those dialogues are (with all the pain of my heart, but the curiosiry was stronger). So, some of the dialogues I found out are: - "Today I don't feel like getting out of bed" (and he stills in bed all the day) - "Are you still happy with me?" - “*grumble*… chores…” Those dialogues, from what I found in Reddit are dialogues all the NPC can say, but there are some who are particular from each NPC. From Harvey, these are the only two I found on my file: - "Am I not doing enough?" - “…” So, comparing to another characters (which their dialogues are in the wiki) we can see whole new sides from the characters, a even more round one: Shane falls in addiction again and compares you with Marnie, Sebastian compares you to Demitrius and isolates himself again, and Abigail…Well, she comes with that infamous dialogue comparing you with Sebs… I thinks this shows how he was indeed so hopeful with the idea of finally marrying you, and now he is blaming himself. The silence can be interpreted in many ways, too. It hurt so much doing this, but all for the name of science I guess! I absolutely adore your videos btw!! ^^ The analysis are sooo good!! EDIT: I added some dialogues and details to explain myself better!!
I think it's important to remember that sometimes patients, especially older patients, do not ALWAYS know what is best for their bodies. My grandmother insists that its stopping cigarettes that lets cancer cells grow. My grandfather refused to get his diabetes under control until he had multiple heart attacks. Misinformation is everywhere and I would consider refusing a diet because you would rather let yourself be not alive a good reason to break doctor-patient confidentiality because his life is at risk. The point that you break autonomy is at the point that someone no longer cares about their life.
i love the thing about him wondering if Maru could use some sunscreen not being suggestive. i completely agree! it would sound suggestive if he said "i wonder if maru wants me to/would let me rub sunscreen on her shoulders" but he's just wondering if she could use some.
I adore Harvey because of the fact he’s such a sweetheart and provides stability. Also, he regales you with plane facts and forgets to rub the sunscreen in his nose; how could you not fall for such a loveable dork?
I feel like Harvey’s hobby of model airplanes and radio(something) is a way of him to stay connected to his childhood dream. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that he had to give it up, it is a reality for most, but he is still able to stay apart of it in another way
Just a note about the 2 heart scene from someone who works with the geriatric population (particularly dementia patients) - there is also the chance that Harvey suggests bringing in Evelyn if George is considered to not be fully “cognitively intact” (largely meaning that significant decisions with things relating to money, his health, etc. fall to Evelyn). I do agree though, that ultimately it is George’s decision as to what he does with his own body. I like to give Harvey the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe he was going to bring Evelyn into it so she can help encourage him to implement Harvey’s advice. I don’t know that this is truly the case because George seems to be pretty aware of himself and his situation. But many dementia patients are still pretty aware of things so idk 🤷♀️
interesting! thank you for the insight! it's hard for me (someone with 0 medical/care experience) to see the nuances of it, that's why i separated it into personal opinion and analysis so that we didn't end up taking too hard of a view of harvey. i think bc he's so kind and is a good doctor he was just doing what he thought was right.
@@fionasangsterRural medicine is actually super cool! Those practitioners do their best with less equipment, less staff, and less money than larger cities, causing them to be more inventive with care. Farming communities in particular have a interesting relationship with physicians
I’ve never married Penny, so I don’t know if her dialogue is similar to Harvey in that she talks about her job a lot, but I know as a real life teacher, I can relate to Harvey’s personality a lot. As much as I try to be more than just a teacher, it dominates so much of my life it’s basically all I ever talk about. That’s why he’s my perfect husband 💕
46:02 the fear of heights thing is really funny to me, bc my father, brother and cousin are all pilots. And ALL of them and their friends are scared of heights 😭 the irony…
about the eyesight thing - i had a teacher in middle school who told us he was some form of colorblind, and because of that, he TECHNICALLY was not allowed to enlist in the air force (or something like that, i remember it having to do with planes lol), and the only reason he was able to was because someone fudged the paperwork to let it slide 😳 i'm not sure of the logistics of every pilot scenario or eyesight restrictions, but that's what harvey's situation reminded me of 🤔 anyway i love my nerd husband lol, love these deep dives as always!
You can get into the air force, you just can’t do certain jobs. My dad went in to try and become a mechanic, but due to his color blindness he was unable to, so they made him a plumber.
Well, the problem is not _just_ his eyesight, right? His fear of heights was... crippling, before he met the farmer. It's the unfortunate combination of both that led him to give up on that dream.
to be completely real with you, I am hungover and sick and tired of crocheting a stupid strawberry stem WRONG no matter what I do so I am more than ready to dive in deep with some stardew lore. thank you.
This is in regards to Harvey, listening to the radio in the way that he does. As a totally blind person, I can’t play games the way sided people can. So, I listen to let’s play. That is the only way that I can be a part of some gaming experiences. So my theory is, Harvey listens to the radio because it’s the closest to being a pilot he will ever be. I don’t know if this is the right answer, but it’s my theory.
Your aside on what makes an appealing video game love interest intrigues me, because I have the exact opposite opinion to you: Harvey is my darling malewife, and I try to avoid Shane as much as possible. For me personally the Shane stuff swerves back and forth between too real and not real enough. Potentially TMI, but my dad is an alcoholic, so when Shane's drunkenly spilling his guts about his dark thoughts, that's way too real, but then I just get vaguely annoyed and-- kind of hurt? when this just magically works and Shane recovers and quits drinking, no further issues, since it feels so fake to me. My fun wife guy Harvey is sweet and uncomplicated.
interesting! yeah it's all very subjective! for me it's so refreshing to like see someone with dark thoughts bc - same lol. but i would never argue that shane is like the best husband or anything bc hes not, hes just my favourite bc of my personal baggage haha
Yeah tbh, same. I feel like I'd be way more interested in Shane's whole deal with even some slight tweaks, like making his poison of choice not alcohol. It's all down to each player's own issues. Keeps things interesting, lol
@@lyssam100I agree- gaming would have been a good one imo. When you pull away from the screen it feels like a bath of cold water and you can step away way quicker in some cases than with alcohol. Still love Shane but the games’ length doesn’t allow for him to screw up once before getting it right.
He still quips about drinking in his married dialogue, even after his fourteen heart event, so its still pretty clear he's not sober (but it's implied he's only cut back on drinking, which is still a viable recovery option for some alcoholics). He also talks about how life is a "slow, gray blur" sometimes, so I think its implied all his previous issues are still affecting him. he's just not binging and in a mental health crisis anymore. I struggle with alcohol abuse and I've got similar issues to him, so I like that he's technically unfixable yet still capable of loving/being loved... its kind of symbolic to me idk. I don't blame you at all for avoiding him though. I'm sorry alcoholism has hurt you, too. I agree that Shane can get way too real sometimes. He's just one of those characters that can either pose as comforting or disturbing with no inbetween. 😅
I always saw him not wanting anyone to know about the aerobics class as a like "im a doctor i should already be healthy, imagine what they would say if they knew I was out of shape"
I LOVE HARVEY HE'S MY HUSBAND!!!!!! People always say he's boring (or that his mustache is ugly. Which is simply incorrect) but he's not!!! He has intrests and he cares about you!!! He's just kinda private and busy cause he has an actual career unlike most of the other love interests. He's very respectful of your life on the farm and he loves being there with you. He loves what he does and he loves you. I his room and i love his heart scenes, i will always choose him
I think the grapefruit sky song being in his 8 heart event and not his 10 heart is because of the jukebox. Also, i really appreciate the extended kitty break, it was very thoughtful ! I love these videos, keep up the great work
I laughed SO hard when you brandished the pointer and smacked his photo with it in the beginning DKFJSK I've been devouring these videos, so excited for this one!
I told Harvey the pasta tastes like his mustache and he said he guessed some of his mustache fell in. I thought it was funny cause my farmer definitely tastes that mustache a lot hehhehehe. That aside this is a great video. I played Stardew Valley for the first time in the last few weeks and I went in knowing basically nothing, I gravitated towards Harvey immediatley I don't know why but he has made my first playthrough so wonderful and I genuinely cried during the hot air balloon scene.
In a small village-like towns like that, it’s actually fairly common for a multi-purpose doctor. Especially since it seems stardew is set in a slightly older setting, considering the appearance of the telephone & Sebastian’s PCs, and lack of cell phones. They would be trained in surgery but also study general knowledge!
This video made me laugh out loud so many times. Especially the "Harvey Hat." Harvey is a wonderful choice for a spouse and it's fun to watch character growth and be rewarded in such a thoughtful way. Stardew character lore is so interesting and I'm glad I found this channel!
I found you yesterday and I have been OBSESSED! I was saying to my partner that I hope the moving goes smoothly so you post the rest of the series 😆 I love all the detail and work you put into these. I cant wait for the rest of it!
i am 100% a harvey girly. this is super well put-together and entertaining :) and i also wanted to thank you for captioning your video! it makes a huge difference for people like me and it's awesome to see!
i wish harvey had more dialogue that wasn't centered around his position as a doctor. harvey actually looks a lot like my irl partner so i've wanted to pursue him in game.... but there are so many more interesting in game romances in comparison to harvey (oops!) love harvey's blushing portrait. he is so baby girl. (i do always end up marrying sebastian....)
Thankfully I am pretty sure 1.6 added more dialogue. I'm not sure if 1.6 dialogue additions are included in this video (I personally don't see them). It added at least one non doctor dialogue as far as I can tell.
I absolutely love Harvey, my beloved, my husband in more than one play through, my sweetest ball of utter anxiety, I have to use proper constraint to marry different people. I pretty much saw his flustered blushing sprite once and I was done for lol. Love me a nerd. He’s also really caring and to me, a more appropriate age to marry. Many of the others seem so terribly young so they don’t seem like proper options to me. He also still goes to work when you marry him which I appreciate and it hurts my little heart when people speak ill of him for being boring, or “stealing”. He has like 2 regular patients and charges you the price of a movie ticket for emergency surgery, if anything we are robbing him 💀 (my fav portrait mod is the small town doctor mod, he looks adorable, I even edited that face into the seasonal outfits mod like a psychopath with too much time)
I clicked on this so fast. Thanks for the analysis of Harvey. He was my first husband in this game and i love him, but I never put much thought into it. Now it gives me an excuse to marry him again to see his character growth with more depth.
I laughed out loud when you mentioned everybody hinting not-so-subtly that they want to live on a farm. XD I always befriend everyone, and they all say those things even if you're already married with two kids. It's so awkward but funny. Also, I like Sam and appreciate his instant pancakes and frozen pizza's, lol! A home-cooked meal might be nice, but realistically I don't need one.
Yes! Sam's instant pancakes and frozen pizzas are him doing his best despite not being able to cook. I will always appreciate him and Shane doing what they can do to show their love and care for the player.
Say what you will about harvey, he's not my husband, but daaaaamn That raw chicken got some THIGHS Those dance aerobics are paying off, we know exactly why Harv is showing those gains He wants us to be 'starvey for Harvey"
OMG......I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw those strong legs and big thighs xD....like daaaayuumn, I was SHOCKED the first time I saw him like that.....I keep reminding myself that in the beach they're kids and people...because, Yisus Christ 7w7
Fiona every episode: “Yeah, this Bachelor/Bachelorette is cool. But, lemme tell you about this chicken man!” 😂 Enjoyable video as always! Harvey definitely feels the most relatable anxiety wise, plus just the sweetest spouse.
I also have to wonder if because he's a younger doctor that line about being haunted by a patients death means he has gone through it and he's a little bit of a hardass because it scares him to lose any of these people in this town. He moved away from another location, he could have possibly lost a patient and left because he couldn't handle the guilt? Just speculation.
I think I remember reading some posts or fanfics on tumblr about Harvey, filling in the sort of ambiguity of his past with the idea that he might have been an ICU/ER/trauma responder initially and moved to Pelican Town and settled into just being a GP after that proved too much for him. It's definitely my headcanon for his story now too. It would make sense of how he could preform 'emergency surgery' on the player when they pass out in the skull caverns, but the rest of his workload doesn't reflect that specialization. It really changes the way you would read his "imagine a patient's life in your hands" line into him speaking more from personal experience, and how that experience would have been what changed his trajectory in his medical career.
Lovely cat! Edit: I love that hes a silly little aviation enthusiast. As someone who'd also love to get her pilot's license but probably won't for circumstancial reasons, getting into ham radio seems like the sort of thing I'd do. Personally i feel like it's a very normal and healthy thing to do, you get to talk to pilots in the way pilots talk to each other. It's kinda like dipping your toes in it in the only way a lot of aviation nerds can afford to.
George most likely has Evelyn on his HIPPA forms, which would mean he has agreed that Harvey may share medical information with her. It's a pretty common thing in the US.
harvey is so autistic to me, i love him. he's one of the first characters i romanced in the game but i tend to forget about him now in favor of alex, shane, and haley. i'm glad ive been going after him again in my most recent playthrough because i forgot how much i relate to him as an autistic person :]
YESSSS OMG fellow autistic here. I immediately fell in love with his little plane models and everything i hc that its his special interest 😭😭hes so cute
Things that feel right: 1. This being my first video of yours and Harvey being my first Stardew Husband. 2. The bisexual agenda (coz same) 3. Your next video being Leah when I divorced Harvey solely to marry Leah.
I think one big thing I consider about the dating options in stardew is how much you influence the character/ where they are at the height of your relationship. That’s why I don’t like dating Maru because it feels like by marrying her you hold her back. I love Shane’s arc but it feels like he regresses in a life with you. Harvey/Leah/Elliot maybe Abigail and probably some others I’m forgetting do better/continue to do what they love by living with you on the farm. Probably why I go for the older feeling bachelors/bachelorettes since the others feels like a “we married too young” thing 😂 Great video! Love this series so much ❤
After marrying Sam, he actually never gives up on his dreams and gets a job working as a music composer for a kids show. It's so cute and he invites Vincent over to listen to his songs and give him feedback
@@sharp_as_ablade yeah that's fair I've never really dated Sam but I'm glad to hear that! I think my main problem still with Sam is that he feels pretty young
Same with penny! i havent married her, but im assuming she keeps tutoring the kids? and her other dream is to live the family life shes always wanted, so the player is making it come true :)
I really appreciate the stuff about George mentioned here. when I first got stardew when it came out I was a teenager who didn't know I was disabled, and I probably wouldn't have cared so much about this stuff back then, but now every time I see this sort of stuff in this game I always side with George... and having to deal with doctors with their professional egos kinda made me get a lil bit of the ick in that one scene with Harvey lmfao 😭 haven't finished the vid yet but I'll edit this when I do
24:03 reminds me of this local mortician in my hometown. he's seen so much death and how it impacts families. and he's not a young guy. when my grandma died just over four years ago, he kinda just told us that with every new body that passes through the funeral home, he gets increasingly more scared of passing.
@@fionasangster Well, I can't wait for his time in the sun, but please take as long as you need on these videos! Know you will have an audience when you return because I have been binging this series when drawing or writing.
Ive downloaded this entire playlist and have been listening to it many times for the last month. Your voice is so soothing and youre so entertaining at the same time I can watch, listen or background noise to sleep your videos and it fits into all those needs
Harvey was my first spouse in my first play through of Stardew. I admit like many others I found him endearing but boring. But your video made me actually think as far as non surface level he is actually quite deep. I remember when he first said that “You mean the world to me” line and I was so smitten but still divorced him lol. You’re right though he may be the best IRL spouse choice. Thanks again for another great video!
In the cut scene with George I always choose the "You should listen to his advice" because I have personal experience with watching older people ignoring the advice of Dr's and it dropping their quality of life immensely. I don't work in the medical field, but I was kind of my grandparents' caretaker. Obviously it's up to the individual on what they actually do and how the medical field treats people is very complicated, but that's one of the things I have my own experience on.
I attempted to romance Harvey and after his 6 hearts event, in the Town square I talked to Jodi and she said something like "There's someone in our aerobics class and he told us to keep it a secret" not exactly that but something along the lines, was eyerolling so hard pls
You made a really good point about the sunscreen/Maru thing, that made sense to me. About the scene with George and Harvey I disagree somewhat. With context, it's pretty clear that George is a grumpy old dude with unhealthy habits like watching TV all day, while his wife cooks, bakes and tends to the flowers (aka has healthy hobbies). He honestly seems depressed, so I can imagine him being unwilling to put in the work to be more active, even if doing so would make him happier. George asks the farmer for his opinion, so I feel it is fair to tell him Harvey is right - if he didn't want to hear that, then he shouldn't have asked. It's Harvey's job to try and nudge George towards a healthier lifestyle, though we can argue about whether he's picking the correct tactic here. I would have been more sympathetic to George if what he said was "Hey, I know exercising would be healthier for me, but I enjoy how I'm living currently" rather than questioning Harvey's expertise. Penny pushing George's wheelchair without his permission has much worse dialogue IMO, I wish I could say "Hey, it's nice of you to want to help, but you really have to ask first and don't touch someone's wheelchair without their permission". I also wish the player asked first whether George wanted help in the later cutscene where they get a book for him - maybe it's implied?
I love this series idea! Harvey is my second favorite spouse (my first being Elliot). I love his dialog about how we don’t all reach our dreams and that’s okay, that’s life. It was so affirming to hear as someone that’s failed a lot, yet it’s still okay. When you mentioned a script near the end I was a little surprised because your presentation felt so natural and casual. It’s like chatting with a friend who wants to share their special interest so you just listen. Nothing sounds scripted at all, you’re excellent at this!
I'm screaming, Robert from "Dream Daddy" and Shane are two of my fav romanceable characters that made me feel something. I am kinda glad that I'm not alone, because I used to contemplate my tastes in fictional men a lot... I would love to see your thoughts about Dream Daddy!
i LOVE ur style of video essay these are so good to have on in the background; from an adhd girl i can say ur voice, layout and overall vibe is super relaxing and at the same time really easy to focus in on~ glad i found ur channel
The conflict with Harvey was him crossing the doctor/patient boundary. Though, considering it's an easy game mechanic that is used for everyone.... I think it lessens the fact that he does open up. Maybe if there was something extra to so with him...? Not sure.
The post-bouquet dialogue about whether the player has any medical questions reminds me of Mass Effect 2. Since it’s a sci-fi game, the player can choose an “alien” as a love interest; toward the end of the game, the game’s resident doctor/science guy (also an alien, but a different kind of alien) will comment with suggestions regarding… intimacy… given that the (human) player and the alien LI are biologically different. The first time I got that scene I was absolutely dumbstruck because I couldn’t believe what he was telling me! 🫣 I’m sure Harvey’s dialogue isn’t a reference to that game, but I can absolutely see that line being suggestive, which I think would make his new post-bouquet dialogue the most suggestive of any you’ve explored so far in this series-a little unexpected for Harvey, but in keeping with the theme of overcoming boundaries and conquering fears you suggested. Thank you for another great deep dive! 😁 I love your analysis and sense of humor. Edit to add: I absolutely care about Dream Daddy! It makes entirely too much sense that I like Elliott and also Vega… 😅 I guess I have a type, too.
I personally choose to interpret the radio cutscene more directly. That he's still interested in planes and has also accepted a long time ago he can't be a pilot. Idk. Maybe because I feel like i might end up in a similar situation in the future, the defanged melancholy of acceptance and moving on is comforting to me. Life isn't achieving one goal youve set your mind to. The sky's still beautiful to watch
16:00 I believe it is the correct choice to tell George that Harvey knows more about the subject at hand, but I also agree that it should be possible to addendum that with the note that George doesn't have to live optimally, just don't be in denial about what you're doing.
I love the points you made about Harvey's two heart scene. I never picked the "george knows best" option because I always interpreted it in a kind of "anti-vaxxer" way. Where he just blindly doesn't trust doctors and he's just some stubborn old man, but you helped me rethink that. There's some grey area there for sure. Its very weird how sometimes these characters are meant to be full, well rounded people with their own motivations, and then some other times they're just set dressing, props used to further the appeal of the "important" characters. I think that's why its easy to forget that george's autonomy is just as important and harvey's professional opinion lol
i disagree about george "exercising his autonomy" in harvey's 2 heart scene. there is no moral conundrum, it's harvey's job to tell george how to remain healthy. it's literally why he's there in the first place. if it were up to george he would disregard his health, and how respectful of his autonomy are you really being when you're allowing him to destroy himself and wither away? either you tell him what he doesn't want to hear, or watch him erode his own autonomy. the problem is not you and harvey disregarding his autonomy, the problem is george's stubbornness and pride. letting someone you care about make the wrong decision just because they technically have the right to do so is not very moral.
I definitely see this as a valid point considering the telephone is a rotary phone, but also the possibility of flat screen TVs, then again there’s dragons and junimos lol
About his 2 hearts cut scene, as a health care worker who has only geriatric patients: how Harvey treats George there, is (maybe completely coincidentally) quite a realistic visualization how unfortunately a lot of doctors treat geriatric patients. Their oath and morals stand in the way of what would be more comfortable for the patients, because making certain decisions would make *them* uncomfortable. Even though choosing something with a goal of prolonging someone's life would be unethical and mean probably more suffering for them in the long run.
Listen. I think the speedo thing could be because (usually) if you get to Ginger Island, you know Harvey well enough to have seen his dance class cut scene, so maybe it's his way of being proud of the "healthier" body he's made through it all. As much as I hate it too, (trust me, I do) Ya gotta hand it to him for being ballsy to do this
Harvey!! He’s my favorite, and I feel like your analysis of his character helped me see him in a new light, especially the 2-heart cut! For the 10-heart scene, not only do I think it’s the most romantic cutscene besides his 14-heart cut scene (personally), but character-wise…Harvey technically becomes a pilot. He pilots the hot air balloon! Sure, it’s for a couple hours, but having the player be there with him in those moments of fear to bewilderment that’s he’s actually up in the sky is so heart-warming to me! Character analysis is my jam, so I was so excited to see there’s basically a whole playlist of character analysis videos of characters from my fav video game!! I’ve been listening to this as I’m studying for college finals, it’s a big comfort. You have a lovely voice, and your cat is adorable!! ❤️❤️❤️
edit 5/11 - you may notice if you have keen lil eyes that around 42:18 there is a blur on the map - this is because i have been informed that the map showed crimea as part of russia, when crimea was annexed by russia and is in fact part of ukraine. i can't replace the map post-upload but i was able to add a blur so as not to further spread incorrect information! the annexation is condemned by most countries including the UK as a violation of international law. so... whoopsies. sorry. got the image off stardew valley wiki. will hopefully notice something like this next time
Can't wait to watch this video! Have a great wedding!

I want you to know that i’ve thought about this comment multiple times a week for the last 3 weeks because it’s so insanely funny to me
LEAVE HIS SPEEDOS ALONEEE that’s my raw rotisserie chicken husband you’re talking to buster
😂
hahahaha i jest because i care
nu uh mine
As an autistic person who relates to and projects onto Harvey A LOT!! I like to headcanon that, like me, clothes are a sensory nightmare for him. So an excuse to wear as little of them as possible is great!! XD
I love my autistic rotisserie chickin husband
I just ADORE how hard his bio and that diary entry throw shade at him. "He is a little old for a bachelor", "There are few older bachelors. All of them kinda suck! First of all, Harvey is a pussy" Like can he live? He is beeing publicly shamed for beeing unmarried in his 30s by the fabric of the universe itself.
gender roles reversed, harvey is the spinster now!
hahahahahahhaha
Whoever wrote that damn diary can catch these hands in the pub
Real life: Thirties is becoming the most common age to marry
Stardew Valley: Harvey = Spinster.
Same! He never has a sad face. He's excited and happy when he talks to a pilot.
Yes! I interpret it as him being realistic. Like I’d love to have a big garden to take care of, but for ages I didn’t have any garden at all so I had pot plants and grew some herbs. I didn’t cry every time I watered my plants because I was daydreaming about a garden, I was genuinely just happy to have something!!!
i see it this way too
Absolutely! I always saw it as very charming, a way to engage with his passion and dreams from the ground, I always loved seeing the way that the reality of him never being able to be a pilot doesn't mean giving up on it, instead finding realistic ways to engage with it, as you said, within his ability.
I like this take.
My hc is that Harvey started as a trauma surgeon. Also the man is a beast because he can carry you from wherever you passed out
My first thought to that hc was that there is a war going on, though it he did serve as an army/field doctor/surgeon it would probably have been mentioned. Cool hc! Think ill incorporate it into my own head!
@@guggelguggel7491"think I'll incorporate it into my own head" is the best way to phrase that, I love it
Yeah I have also been thinking something along those lines. Especially his "patients life in my hands and failing" line led me to believe that he kind of "fled" whatever high stress job he had before to be a general doctor in a small (former mining) town.
Kind of makes him like the player like that, at least in my mind
I just interpreted it as like, stitches or something, but this is way cooler. Headcanon absorbed!
I love that hc so much! i'm gonna keep it, it makes so much sense
Nah, he's boring either way
@@onemoreweirdo207 that’s for certain
Hiding my face behind my hands when you divorce Harvey like I’m watching a scary movie
real
I was irl pouting LOL
NOOOO I FORGOT THATS A PART OF THESE VIDEOS IM JUST STARTING IT ANS IM ALREADY GONNA CRY AND DREAEDING THE LINE !!!
When I broke up with him it was devastating I can't imagine divorcing him
Well, It's the only time I'll ever see it.
Pure headcannon part of me thinks they gossip about their husbands and they can tell Harvey has a crush on someone so they want to help him as friends do.
mmmmm interesting!!
thank you for mentioning th treatment of george. strangers always try to push my wheelchair without asking and i refuse to chose the dialogue telling penny she did a nice thing even though there’s a penalty for it 😂
literally same lmao, so frustrating!!
Wow. People really do that?!?
So? Be grateful lol
I love that our guy Harvey found a fulfilling part time job doing Beach.
Interestingly, his moustache is also missing in the beach sprite, possibly implying that he is a professional doctor who wears a fake moustache to work
Harvey is Kenough 🥺 now I'm imagining ConcernedApe designing the speedo sprite and making several attempts at drawing a tiny moustache on it only to give up
hahaha i never noticed. too distracted by… other things 🩲
Apparently it's only this one sprite without the moustache, the other beach portraits have one
My headcanon for this is that he shaved that morning, but his mustache just grows back so fast he can’t go a day without the caterpillar on his lip
🤨by what?!@@fionasangster
THAT'S MY HUSBAND! i love him, his arc, his way of living and the fact that he's not as shallow as he seems. he's imo one of the best and you can't change my mind
Same. Every time I start a new farm, I tell myself I will marry someone else this time. I end up marrying Harvey every single time. 😂
Same. Every time I start a new farm, I tell myself I will marry someone else this time. I end up marrying Harvey every single time. 😂
Agreed
Fun Fact with USA Healthcare, some places are so rural that Family Medicine doctors will perform some basic types of surgery on patients if they're too far away from a major hospital.
interesting!!!
@fionasangster Yup. It's real ghetto over here 😅 and I say that as a doctor myself
yeah that’s always what i assumed lol, like he just teaches himself a bunch of different surgeries just in case because any specialist is too far away
Came here to say this. Stardew is such a tiny, rural town. The doctor would 100% do surgeries and would also probably be the local vet 😂
*medical TMI* When I got my arm implant I was relieved when I realized how simple of a procedure it actually seems. The stick basically comes preloaded in a big ol needle so there's no cutting open or anything. They had me look away but I kind of wish I watched it go in now, I just thought it was kinda cool
this is really interesting!! thank you!!
@@fionasangster Hilarious and valuable insight: ua-cam.com/video/ERNAqqNSId0/v-deo.htmlsi=hxXuUvsy7rJ0z1oz
@@peccantisand she has to sanitize that room to no end 🗿
Mittens, Mitmit for short
haha what is the cat owner urge to give them names entirely unrelated to their actual names 😭
@@fionasangsterthere's a poem and a song about that, the naming of cats I think
I always read it as a pretty rude response 😂 like "thanks for this shitty gift, its so bad I get a rash from it"
As a nurse, my take on the 2 heart event is that George *is* capable of making his own decisions, but doctors (and nurses) are required to do their best to take care of people, which causes conflict to occur pretty often.

@@Zombina638 What an eloquent argument.
Harvey's allergic to salmonberries too as i found out last week. poor guy is allergic to so many things someone should keep him in a bubble
like one of those inflatable hamster ball things you see at fairs?
Harvey in Speedos is thanks to you.
oh dear god what have i done..... (jk love him)
I have ended up choosing Harvey a handful of times in my Stardew shenanigans - once because if you’re trying to speed run marriage, showing up at his doorstep every morning with coffee does the trick haha.
Honestly same-- it's part of why I'm so disappointed Sandy lost in the 1.4 bachelorette poll-- there are no older bachelorettes!!
i tried giving him coffee bc i heard it’s on his Love List, but the second time i offered it it checked the box for a gift but he didn’t TAKE IT “don’t you think that’s unhealthy?” BROKE MY HEART
I always imagined it as a joking trauma tax for having to drag his near dead wife out the mines. then he spends it on flowers or something. 😂
@@lilly_koii You're so right. . Honestly, he deserves the world, no doctor should have to perform emergency surgery on they're own spouse 🥲. . At this point he should be begging Marlon to put a gate at the mines with the amount of times I've pushed my luck lmao 🤣

About the neutral and low hearts dialogues during marriage:
I saw that the absence of those dialogues isn't because Harvey can't feel frustrated about the marriage, but because the wiki has lacking information. I found that like a missed opportunity to see how is Harvey in a vulnerable space, learning more from his character.
I decided to make a quick research for my own and sacrificed an old game save where I was married to him to see how those dialogues are (with all the pain of my heart, but the curiosiry was stronger).
So, some of the dialogues I found out are:
- "Today I don't feel like getting out of bed" (and he stills in bed all the day)
- "Are you still happy with me?"
- “*grumble*… chores…”
Those dialogues, from what I found in Reddit are dialogues all the NPC can say, but there are some who are particular from each NPC. From Harvey, these are the only two I found on my file:
- "Am I not doing enough?"
- “…”
So, comparing to another characters (which their dialogues are in the wiki) we can see whole new sides from the characters, a even more round one:
Shane falls in addiction again and compares you with Marnie, Sebastian compares you to Demitrius and isolates himself again, and Abigail…Well, she comes with that infamous dialogue comparing you with Sebs…
I thinks this shows how he was indeed so hopeful with the idea of finally marrying you, and now he is blaming himself.
The point that you break autonomy is at the point that someone no longer cares about their life.
the jane eyre and dorian gray references about harveys secret made me laugh out loud, this video is such a blessing
i love the thing about him wondering if Maru could use some sunscreen not being suggestive. i completely agree! it would sound suggestive if he said "i wonder if maru wants me to/would let me rub sunscreen on her shoulders" but he's just wondering if she could use some.
Especially when maru is the only person in town he is kinda close to, he works with mary 2 days a week, of course he would think about her more often
"there's something wrong with my butt, will you take a look at it?" TOOK ME OUT PLZZ
😉😏
I adore Harvey because of the fact he’s such a sweetheart and provides stability. Also, he regales you with plane facts and forgets to rub the sunscreen in his nose; how could you not fall for such a loveable dork?
This vid gave me a new headcanon that shane is birdwatching when he stands around but he's too embarrassed to admit it lol
STOPPPPP THATS SO CUTE
Evelyn joins George for his annual dr visit, so pretty sure she is involved.
@@rowanwax good point! I completely forgot about that. In that case you are probably correct!
@@fionasangster I agree, he absolutely does have his patients’ best interests at heart. 🥰
@@fionasangsterRural medicine is actually super cool! Those practitioners do their best with less equipment, less staff, and less money than larger cities, causing them to be more inventive with care. Farming communities in particular have a interesting relationship with physicians
i knew therapy was working when my preferred spouse switched from shane to harvey lmao
hahahahaha too real
Literally same 😂
I’ve never married Penny, so I don’t know if her dialogue is similar to Harvey in that she talks about her job a lot, but I know as a real life teacher, I can relate to Harvey’s personality a lot.
I love my husband, Harvey is such a great character and I just love the way he is so professional but then realizes that it’s ok to make friends.
about the eyesight thing - i had a teacher in middle school who told us he was some form of colorblind, and because of that, he TECHNICALLY was not allowed to enlist in the air force (or something like that, i remember it having to do with planes lol), and the only reason he was able to was because someone fudged the paperwork to let it slide 😳 i'm not sure of the logistics of every pilot scenario or eyesight restrictions, but that's what harvey's situation reminded me of 🤔
anyway i love my nerd husband lol, love these deep dives as always!
You can get into the air force, you just can’t do certain jobs. My dad went in to try and become a mechanic, but due to his color blindness he was unable to, so they made him a plumber.
Well, the problem is not _just_ his eyesight, right? His fear of heights was... crippling, before he met the farmer.
It's the unfortunate combination of both that led him to give up on that dream.
to be completely real with you, I am hungover and sick and tired of crocheting a stupid strawberry stem WRONG no matter what I do so I am more than ready to dive in deep with some stardew lore. thank you.
omg the crochet frustration can be so strong. tried amigurumi once and literally never again
Yes!! Idk why but that part of the video is so funny to me too 🤣 I love it so much
I told Harvey the pasta tastes like his mustache and he said he guessed some of his mustache fell in.
Harvey used to be my second favorite bachelor (behind Elliott) until I kept dying in the skull cavern and he kept taking my money lol
😂😂😂😂
This video made me laugh out loud so many times. Especially the "Harvey Hat." Harvey is a wonderful choice for a spouse and it's fun to watch character growth and be rewarded in such a thoughtful way. Stardew character lore is so interesting and I'm glad I found this channel!
I found you yesterday and I have been OBSESSED! I was saying to my partner that I hope the moving goes smoothly so you post the rest of the series 😆 I love all the detail and work you put into these. I cant wait for the rest of it!
aw so sweet thank you!! move went pretty smooth! just need to get that pesky wedding out of the way lol
i am 100% a harvey girly. this is super well put-together and entertaining :) and i also wanted to thank you for captioning your video! it makes a huge difference for people like me and it's awesome to see!
ur welcome! i'll do it with all the vids from now on!
i wish harvey had more dialogue that wasn't centered around his position as a doctor. harvey actually looks a lot like my irl partner so i've wanted to pursue him in game.... but there are so many more interesting in game romances in comparison to harvey (oops!)
love harvey's blushing portrait. he is so baby girl.
(i do always end up marrying sebastian....)
Thankfully I am pretty sure 1.6 added more dialogue. I'm not sure if 1.6 dialogue additions are included in this video (I personally don't see them). It added at least one non doctor dialogue as far as I can tell.
If you play on PC there are a bunch of lovely Harvey dialogue expansion mods!
About his weird surgeries, he has a book on his shelf that says "Do It Yourself Knee Surgery" !!?? Tbh i dont what to make of it😭
After marrying him, he reads a lot about knees surgeries, I don't know what he's up to.
Say what you will about harvey, he's not my husband, but daaaaamn
That raw chicken got some THIGHS
Those dance aerobics are paying off, we know exactly why Harv is showing those gains
He wants us to be 'starvey for Harvey"
SCREAMING
His new dialogue supports it, too
crying i had to go back and look at the sprite again, ur so right
OMG......I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw those strong legs and big thighs xD....like daaaayuumn, I was SHOCKED the first time I saw him like that.....I keep reminding myself that in the beach they're kids and people...because, Yisus Christ 7w7
Fiona every episode: “Yeah, this Bachelor/Bachelorette is cool. But, lemme tell you about this chicken man!” 😂 Enjoyable video as always! Harvey definitely feels the most relatable anxiety wise, plus just the sweetest spouse.
hahaha you got your uncooked chicken man and you got your free range chicken man 🐥
I also have to wonder if because he's a younger doctor that line about being haunted by a patients death means he has gone through it and he's a little bit of a hardass because it scares him to lose any of these people in this town.
LOL "so we can assume he's at least eight" has me laughing so hard hahahahahahahhaa
Nah
yes omg. im autistic and i definitely see it in him too
YES YES YES!!!!! I love my autistic moustache man, he's my frikin boi
OMG yess, you get it!!!!!!!!!! As an autistic person I immediately caught on to Harv being autistic. Might not be canon but in my mind it is.
Things that feel right:
1. This being my first video of yours and Harvey being my first Stardew Husband.
2. The bisexual agenda (coz same)
Probably why I go for the older feeling bachelors/bachelorettes since the others feels like a “we married too young” thing 😂
Great video!
Why do I love Shane getting a special cameo in all of these. The man truly is just the best.
he's my ride or die fr
Bro, harvey's description is fricking savage dude😂
He's **Weak** and **anxious** , he is **old for a bachelore**
I attempted to romance Harvey and after his 6 hearts event, in the Town square I talked to Jodi and she said something like "There's someone in our aerobics class and he told us to keep it a secret" not exactly that but something along the lines, was eyerolling so hard pls
Im so excited for this video! The highlight of my week right here
this is too true
I would love to see your thoughts about Dream Daddy!
hahahhaha we have the same worrisome taste 🩷
adding on to say i would love to see more people discuss the absolutely wonderful bachelors of dream daddy
i didn’t get the “i’d like to get to know u better” line until 8 hearts and i immediately fell in love with him
i LOVE ur style of video essay these are so good to have on in the background; from an adhd girl i can say ur voice, layout and overall vibe is super relaxing and at the same time really easy to focus in on~ glad i found ur channel
girl I need the dream daddy deep dive ASAP. btw this vid great, love your humor and editing
You do have a really soothing tone and way of speaking!! I'm finally caught up with your videos and looking forward to more!
The conflict with Harvey was him crossing the doctor/patient boundary. Though, considering it's an easy game mechanic that is used for everyone.... I think it lessens the fact that he does open up. Maybe if there was something extra to so with him...? Not sure.
I absolutely love your voice, I could listen to you talk about game narrative all day.
Yay the eponymous Fiona has returned. Also, deepest dive into dream daddy after we complete Stardew, yes
I think that's why its easy to forget that george's autonomy is just as important and harvey's professional opinion lol
totally agree
I love that you named him something savory and then realized he is actually a very sweet muffin boy
:')
i disagree about george "exercising his autonomy" in harvey's 2 heart scene. there is no moral conundrum, it's harvey's job to tell george how to remain healthy. it's literally why he's there in the first place. if it were up to george he would disregard his health, and how respectful of his autonomy are you really being when you're allowing him to destroy himself and wither away? either you tell him what he doesn't want to hear, or watch him erode his own autonomy. the problem is not you and harvey disregarding his autonomy, the problem is george's stubbornness and pride. letting someone you care about make the wrong decision just because they technically have the right to do so is not very moral.
So crazy that you just came out swinging with these videos. Like minimal growing pains
45:51 US only changed the eyesight rule in 1996. Before then, couldn't be a pilot if you needed help to see.
That was my exact thought about it, thanks for confirming. I’ve always thought that SV took place in the mid 90s/early 2000 so it makes sense
ahhhhhhhhh ok interesting!! thank u! this changes everything maybe i need to make another 90 minute video
I definitely see this as a valid point considering the telephone is a rotary phone, but also the possibility of flat screen TVs, then again there’s dragons and junimos lol
@@vedablake6172flat screen tvs have existed since the 90s, they were more expensive than they are now
About his 2 hearts cut scene, as a health care worker who has only geriatric patients: how Harvey treats George there, is (maybe completely coincidentally) quite a realistic visualization how unfortunately a lot of doctors treat geriatric patients.
