Ryland truly is a ride or die for Shane, so loyal and protective. I love him. It made me sad when he said “I know I don’t come off great” and how people have called him a brat and other things, I’ve never thought that! His love for Shane is so obvious and I’m so happy that he had someone like Ryland there for him when all the “cancelling” was happening.
So true, Ryland stayed true to Shane even though he said dumb shit and made mistakes that others were so angry about they let him fall instantly. It's everyone's choice so eh but I found it very noble of Ryland to accept shane anyways

The best thing the world gave to Shane was getting canceled. It got rid of all the riff raff and I truly believe made you an unstoppable force of strength. It showed you who were your ride or dies. I for one and thrilled you're back. Never ever stop being you.

Shane's reaction was the same I (bigger gal) had when my little sister (skinny queen) told me that she doesn't like how her body looks. It still blows my mind to this day because to us bigger people, the skinny ones know they look good and everything like that but if you sit down and talk about it. Body dysmorphia or body insecurities hits anyone and everyone.

45:41 I totally relate to all of what Jerid says, for the longest time (and continuing to this day) I feel like everyone is nice to me because they feel bad. I feel like no one genuinely enjoys spending time with me and is just there because they pity me. I never really had a friend group, and when I did, it ended in disaster. ever since I was a kid I have been, like Jerid said, walking around by myself and finding preexisting pockets of groups to hang near. I, too was the kid in my graduating class that was cool with everyone. Everyone knew me, but they weren't my friends, ya know? I feel like Im just annoying the people around me. Anyways, thank you Jerid for talking about this. It showed me that im not the only one who struggles with this kind of thing. This bit of the podcast made me feel seen, thanks guys 💚

I feel you all, and i've always looked at other friends & loved ones with a good kind of envy, that i wish i also belonged with at least 1 person, a friend or lover.
Seems everytime i find a group activity or group with similar interests, i get so excited and think yes i've finally find my peeps, but then i leave because im not vibin or feeling it, even though i give it several shots to see if im just prejudging the situation, but after 1st time i dont feel it, and i think my nerves gets the best of me that i self sabotage or forgot how to socialize or stuff to talk about that i get so nervous, says some enbaressing things, just to talk, then i ruin my entire openings for ppl to get to know me because i just committed social suicide lol....so yes.
I also stopped hanging with people just for the sake of socializing, honestly speaking i dont get anything out if being with at least the people i've been with, it's like im bullshitting myself hanging out wirh ppl just to not be alone. It's actually worse, it makes me even more sad & hopeless when the contrast is so obvious once you are with other ppl

I freakin love watching Shane. I’ve been watching him since I was 13 and every time I do, I feel way better afterwards. He’s just so relatable ❤️
56:37 So this is an interesting one that a lot of people remember happening, including my parents, grandparents, and so on... So Billy Graham (minister) had a live funeral on television ( I believe it was back in 2013 or something). And a lot of people remember this event happening, even his son speaking at the funeral, he was announced dead, and put on magazines and newspaper articles. But then 2018 rolled around and he was announced dead once again, which confused a lot of people. And looking back, no one can find anything: no video evidence, but only memories of this event happening. My mom actually told me she may of recorded it on the VHS, but we cant seen to find it.

As a genX mother of five growing up in the 70’s/80’s I am SO grateful that these conversations are becoming the norm. Sitting here in tears with gratitude that maybe my kids will grow up with more love and acceptance for themselves and each other than we did.
I too grew up in 70s-80s and I totally agree: this is stuff never discussed in our generation
I grew up in 80s early 90s. To me it's 50/50. I'm glad people are more accepting, open & able to talk about tough subjects, but people are also waaaaay too sensitive & triggered by everything. Cancelling people for jokes & screaming about micro aggressions 🙄

while others focused their hate on ryland for being bouijee and liking expensive things, i always focused on the way he used his style and talent in decorating, to create spaces for shane he could enjoy like his beauty room, panic room, decorating their house. ryland is definitely not a brat, he is a loving husband to shane and truly cares about him.

Also blaming him for being excited about gucci slides or other designer stuff is so dumb, we all buy random stuff we don't need if we have the money for it and it's not bad at all to be excited about it. He's worked hard for everything he has (they all do). I never once thought he was bragging or anything. It's all in good fun and I was excited with him!

When Jared talked about only having 1 friend but being cool with everyone is LITERALLY how my life has been. I've never really met anyone who didn't have a group of friends they hung out with all the time and I always felt out of place and like he said, he is afraid of people leaving or losing friends is similar for me. With trust issues on top of that it truly makes branching out difficult from my one friend and the many acquaintances or held-at-length friends. It was great to hear someone who has had a similar experience.

I’m going through a nasty separation and it has been making me really depressed and suiciadal ideations…. I WAS LAUGHING when Shane and his partner were confidently talking about how if they go bald they have to get shredded because no way they can be bigger and bald. Totally forgetting his bald brother is right next to him then he realizes haha!
In fairness though a lot of the time it's not thinking before you speak, like Ryland obviously loves Shane & wouldn't want to hurt or trigger him, but he does sometimes make comments (I think without realising what he's saying) like how he joked about Chris going after his man when it's known he likes big guys or when he said 'who'd want to feel constipated & chubby.' Then it clicked & he tried to explain what he meant 😅

Honestly, I keep coming back to watch the body image portion of the pod. It makes me feel so safe hearing you. Thank you for sharing with us. Also, the part where Shane talks about how he’s confident in his editing rather than his body. That really resonated with me.
Jerid makes me feel super comfortable. I think he has experienced so much more than he could ever let on and those experiences have taught him to be the most open person that could bring any group of people together.

Talking about scammers really hit me hard as my grandma at 77 at the time was scammed for over 20,000 and she lost all of it and seeing her break down and telling us how she felt dumb hurt us so much. Thank you for really talking out about scams and how it affects almost everybody, everyday.

I relate to Shane's brother about his social insecurities. I have always been friends with everyone but nobody's best friend. And I've lost friends from just telling the truth. No fights, just being honest, and people often don't want to be friends with people that call them on their shit.

I found this Mandela effect on Tik Tok and I honestly SCREAMED when I heard it. Do you remember back in the day, when you would watch a Disney movie, Tinker bell would appear, fly around the screen (with the Disney castle behind), wave her little wand and the movie would start? I remember this VIVIDLY. Turns out, this is fake, no one seems to find a film where tinker bell would fly around the screen and I’m honestly not okay with this information.

Tinker bell was in the intro for Disney dvds sometimes and the Disney fast play intro. I never remember seeing her in the Disney castle intro. I think people have just mixed up the intros because they look pretty visually similar and they would all happen before the movie.
It’s not with the castle behind it’s tinker bell flying around before Disney dvd fast play option
I think it was for TV shows as well, but I’d check the VHS tapes because I remember that vividly as well!
what jerid said about feeling like hes bothering everyone and feeling like theyll leave, thats EXACTLY how I have always felt literally since kindergarten because ive had so many times where its been true. ive found that it made me isolate myself and just do the things that I like to do and not worry about someone else not liking it even though deep down I hated that I didnt have anyone to share my passions with, to share the things I loved with. but I found that it made me more self sufficient and independent as an adult. some people grow from their trauma others will suffer immensely and that is not the fault of the traumatized person. shane I love you no matter what you look like because I love your personality, I love how you can find humor in just about anything and I love that youre REAL, youre genuine, youre open about your traumas and ive found that it helps me understand you better and relate to you better. stay strong shane 💜

Shout out to Jerid for his contributions in the scammed portion of this podcast. So many elderly are taken advantage of everyday and it is really unfortunate to see their lives literally stripped away. I’ve had so many family members go down because of it. Thanks for calling these companies out by name and doing your part.
I’ve had a older lady that couldn’t hear very well she was scammed out $3000, because they were telling her to buy target gift cards. And they were claiming that they were their family member. And we didn’t want to sell her anymore. It’s very sad
The part where jared said he feels like people don’t like him blows my mind because he seems like the COOLEST person ever, he always has a fresh perspective, so down to earth, the definition of live and let live… seems so smart too, he’s the kind of person you always want around i just know it

The friendship insecurity is a HUGE thing for me too. I used to have friends that I loved so much, but it ended really badly and now it's really difficult to make new ones because no one compares to them and I don't wanna open my heart up again just to get hurt :/

I love how Shane is so sweet towards his brother. He’s always saying things like “Oh you look great” or “Your sweet” or “Your wonderful”. Like he really brings his brother up, you can see the love he has for his brother. I wish Shane would use some of that positivity on himself. And we love how Ryland is so protective over Shane! He’s just very much like “fuck those people, they don’t live our lives”.
Fruit of the loom is the mandela effect that drives me nuts the most. I made a deep dive into it and its crazy. There is also so called residue evidence. I have a history with this logo and personal beef. I know how it looked like for sure.
Cerns been opening teeny tiny (according to them) black holes and is TRYING to access other dimensions…they’ve probably already done it and everytime they do we see these tiny changes

On body image - Cancers care so much about everyone else all the time & it’s almost impossible to turn it off. I think that’s part of why we care so much about what everyone thinks about us. And then we absorb all the negative things anybody has ever said about our appearance…and that makes it hard to see yourself any other way. I’m a cancer and that’s how I always feel.
